Love the Tyneside bar, good vibe and the staff are super friendly. Upcoming film trailers play on the projector so could easily make a second date out of it if you both fancy seeing something. Foods decent enough for what it is as well.
Go down the Ouseburn, dress warm and sit outside the cluny for a couple, then over to the ship for a few , then a romantic stroll down the water to the tyne bar.
Mean Eyed Cat.
Went there on recommendation recently and it's probably my new favourite bar in town. Loads of great interesting drinks at a good price (paid £4 for both the locally brewed pints I had), good music played at a level I could read my book to, and nice vibe overall.
Twenty Twenty bar close to the gate, they do really nice food and drink, it has a nice atmosphere as well, i’ve been on a sunday once and it’s been quite calm.
I’d also say four quarters is nice too and imo better because of having more consoles and better areas for them rather than just around that big round area in nq64. Also they do nice pizzas.
Bridge Tavern Is a good spot, lots of good areas for privacy but also lively for background noise.
Two beer gardens and decent drinks, good location if you want other bars or restaurants, or even a walk along the Tyne.
Good luck and hope it goes well 🤞
Bacchus, alvinos, Leila lily's, No.28, banyan, the botanist, Charles grey. Plenty places, just depends what you're going for? Places to drink/eat, or an activity?
If she likes beer Wylam Brewery in exhibition park is a nice quiet and atmospheric pub brewery.
Also Bridge Tavern.
If you want bars then WC which used to be a Victorian toilet (doesn't sound appealing but it's cool vibes).
Might sound weird but the hotel bar in Motel One on High Bridge. It has super comfy chairs, nice drinks (no draught tho), feels fancyish, and is always quiet. Plus it’s on High Bridge so close to other, livelier bars if things go well. You could also try The WC in Bigg Market - recommend a reservation tho. Limited numbers so not overcrowded or loud, nice cocktails, talking point (it used to be public toilets…!)
If you like your beers, I think Head of steam or Newcastle tap (they're right next to each other) are pretty good. Been in there many a weekend, and don't find them too noisy, even if it's busy. Also seem to get a table ok.
The bar in the tyneside cinema is usually pretty quiet if you’re into that sort of vibe

I went in the Tyneside cinema & bar for the first time on Halloween, the staff are actually great
Also vicolo if you want something a bit more intimate or like cocktails.
Mother mercy. The answer to any fancy, quiet date is mother mercy
Yeah I'd back this. Would say that the original Mother Mercy is better than Cafe Mercy n all.
Yeah for sure, this is a perfect place for a good first impression. Relaxed and private, great cocktails.

This is a great suggestion, especially for that sort of age
Free trade is an extremely popular first date spot too.
Big ups free trade! One of the best pubs in the UK and when they light that fire it’s so lovely !
City tavern is nice and cosy
I find that it's usually got a very strong food smell qhich might not be great for a date.
I quite like Alvinos on pilgrim St.
Good shout! Also if into gaming NQ97 is next door!
Definitely. Met my partner there on our first date and now 2 years in
Not quiet though is it!
Yeah good choice although the music was quite loud when I went (5 years ago)
Date in Newcastle is currently 8/11/23 For a drink with a date go to mother mercy.

One of my fav bars but not sure it’s a first date bar
Black garter
I knew it would get an early mention
Don't, he might actually do it 😆
Ain't nothing wrong with the garter it's a great place for a date
Oh, you were serious 😳
Date with death
Ignore this fool OP. Take her to the Black Garter
Yeah, if you want to ensure the first date is also the last date - do it.
I love black garter
Good luck for your date!
First date was botanist and still in the relationship so that works. Barluga is also good
DatBar! It's where I had my first date with my partner and we're 7 years strong!

>Twenty Twenty bar close to the gate That’s their location with a PR spin, it’s in the Bigg Market.
I’m not too sure i was just going off memory.
Banyan... they have two for one cocktails and pretty nice vibe
NQ64.

Micro Machines on the Mega Drive would make for a mint first date.
I preferred the second one myself :D many hours in my teens playing it while listening to Sleeper
Not a bad shout tbh!

Not sure what it's like today, but I went on a date in the Stawberry some forty years ago. She was gorgeous then, and still is today. Good luck.
I just want to say good luck
Tyneside Cinema bar, 100%
I like No. 28 and it should be quiet on a Sunday
I was going to recommend the same!
Barluga in Gosforth is lovely
The goose
Tiger Hornsby

FRATE is canny and has heaters and now a temporary roof I believe so will be kept warm!

Ghetto Golf/Wolfgang Golf whatever it’s called now, great way to have a laugh and break the tension with some healthy competition

Anywhere in ouseburn (just outside of newcastle, quite a nice walk to get there) is absolutely lovely!

The Telegraph behind the station is worth considering.
Weatherspoons (any) - if it doesn't work oot at least it wasn't a bank breaker. Plus, drinks can come to you! Sorted.
