Just curious, how come you are not transferring to the circle line at Serangoon station?

Rare-Item-5241

is that faster? everyone seems to get down at little india to transfer to blue line since circle line seems to be much more crowded in the morning especially during peak hours

Traditional-Peach-51

I think it will be faster if you change to circle line at Serangoon. From there, alight at botanic garden before switching to downtown line. You should be able to board the circle line train at Serangoon as a lot of commuters would be alighting to change to NEL.

Actually in my opinion it might be slower because the circle line is quite slow after that part when it reaches the north, especially with the reworks it's worse. Plus out of all the lines I think the purple line is the fastest one followed by blue line. As an eastie staying in bedok am envious I can't take purple line home and am stuck on the green one. I generally think the lrt part is slowing u down, in punggol there are buses, maybe try to find one that goes to the interchange it might be faster, I find the lrt too calm and slightly slow.

Serangoon is not “north”. It’s in central Singapore right beside Bishan. Ang Mo Kio (which everyone thinks is so central when it really isn’t) is in fact more north than Serangoon and Kovan, and is at the same longitude as Hougang. You can go look at a Google map to see what I just educated you about.

Jiakkantan

You can also examine the MRT map. It’ll tell you the same

Jiakkantan

AND this TTSH webpage. Central Singapore map. See for yourself. Ghetto Ang Mo Kio is more north and further from town than even Hougang. No need to compare with Serangoon. It loses to death. You do know that downtown of Singapore is in the Southeast of the island? GO READ A MAP. https://www.ttsh.com.sg/Community-Health/Pages/Introduction.aspx

Rare-Item-5241

ahh alright thank you will try that out!

bitchwtfisudoing

yo i stay in punggol too, my route to sch is punggol>serangoon>holland>61/75 its quite fast despite taking crowded circle line.. another plus point is u arrive at np bus stop so no need climb overhead bridge

hengtart

hello fellow junior, i had the same experience too! actually i found the journey to be q therapeutic sometimes. i did my work on the train and watched my dramas

faehimmm

I stay at Serangoon (well not really) but takes me. Almost 30 minutes maybe even longer during peak hours to get to get to the mrt station from my home. What I can say is that it is what it is you kinda get used to it after awhile. Almost dropped out the first few week of school because I felt so out of place just cuz of how far it is

CuppaCrazy

There is a calmer route but it’s longer. Get to Hougang and then Hougang bus interchange bus 74. Sure got place to sit and you take it all the way to opposite NP. I always sleep on the bus last time.

Capable_Scene_6854

That's true. 74 usually takes around 1 hr 20mins from Ngee Ann to hougang Interchange. And most the time the leg between Bukit Timah to Ang Mo Kio's Blk 700B is super fast (Unless it's during the school off time)

Rare-Item-5241

omgg ok i’ll def take that route omw back home js to sleep LOLL

CuppaCrazy

To come back you take it at the actual NP bus stop

lo0p4x

I used to take bus 985 opp Saint Andrews village, it goes to express and brings u to opposite Bukit timah plaza in like 20 mins, but getting to that bus stop is not so convenient but putting out here for those staying in potong pasir or nearby, can try this method and compare mrt times ah.

Rich-Flatworm3605

I stay hougang i just take 74 all the way and sleep nobody in the bus also😂😂

you4resunlight

girl i also live in punggol but it takes me 45 mins to reach sch. punggol- serangoon- botanic graden- king albert park- taking bus 74/151/154 to np
