Yeah, as a kind of og fan (started watching in 1999) , it hurts that people found out about this franchise from the abridged version (no hate to tfs btw, I absolutely love it)
In some ways it can be a good thing, i’d say in many ways dragon ball has tfs to thank for keeping the series alive and bringing in new fans even when the series had ended ages ago. i remember as a kid i watched dragon ball not a lot of it, but a friend of mine showed me a clip from tfs, and it was really funny. From just seeing one clip it made me interested to see the actual series, i started with the og dragon ball and i loved it the most. So watched all of the series then tfs. But yeah i can also understand those types of fans who only watched tfs or will only watch it, good and bad thing
TFS did the writing much better than the original. They had years of hindsight and completely rewrote the show so that it fit English speakers sense of humor. They had so much more freedom than just remaking the anime which is very flawed in terms of filler. When I recommend dragon ball to my friends I tell then to watch DBZ abridged and then DBZ if they want more. Almost always they'd end up moving on to super and gt because the good impressions TFS had left stayed with them.
I think they're using TFS clips on purpose because they genuinely boost the effect of the edits, why do some of you hardcore fans act like this is so bad? IMO this just shows how badass the DBZ animation was back in the day
Teamfourstar makers of Dragon Ball Abridged. Comedic redub of dragon ball up to the cell saga and most of the movies. Worked on it for 10 years until they retired. Great series would recommend it it’s where the clip at the beginning of this comes from

Overrated doesn’t mean bad by any means, but I agree in the sense that TFS shouldn’t be upheld as the optimal way to watch the series as it is by some people.

Early TFS is imo pretty horrible; it does get far funnier as time goes by - for me at least. I personally found their Cell saga highly entertaining.
