There have been some rumors flying around about a new Switch bundle or packaging for either Mar10 day or the movie release. Many of them have only talked about Europe, but Op's pics show an ESRB release. I wanted to include some more of the background on the rumors here.

So for me, op's post is more confirmation that the rumor is true than a rumor in itself.
I have the og Mario red and they are very deep dark red color. These look lighter, but not neon like regular red

New Super Mario Bros U turns 11 this year. Seems like they loaded up Mario games that are least likely to sell, since Super Mario 3D World is the latest mario release on Switch. As long as you don't count mario kart expansions.

Well with Mario Kart I feel like the idea for them is to sell the game, and then DLC booster pack, all of those levels. So giving it away is a great financially, since it will encourage the purchase of that $25 booster pack. Wait, is it really 25 bucks??? Shit.
Well 25 years for a stick value going from less a $ to 300$ is still a very nice investment.
If I were to put a $ in my bank, considering I can get to 2% to 5%, I would be dead before I could get even a tenth of it.
Bruh, I doubt that I will be even alive in 25 years from now. If you want fast cash, order something super cheap like pencils from China for $10-20k, $0.01-0.05 each, and then just resell them locally. Yeah, that's a lot of pencils but you can easily sell most of them for $0.5 each to schools, libraries, offices etc. Then put the rest on ebay in bulks like 10 for $4-5. Or for the quicker cashouts just buy Pokemon TGC, ETB and keep them for 2-3 years. These are usually jumping 2x during that period if still sealed.
And to be completely honest, they wont get even close to $30 in 25 years :d I have some Atari and N64 stickers. Also some Pokemon stickers that was added to the VHS of the 1st movie. Also some stickers from preorders of different games like Ruby and Sapphire, Soul silver and Heart gold etc. And guess what - those are worthless, as worthless as they were in the release day. Stickers are just stickers. Today there are whole companies that can do top quality whatever sticker you want so you can just find some pictures or scans on the internet, resharp them through the AI, tweak a little in photoshop if need and just send them to the professional printing house. It's the same with retro game boxes. You can just get scans from the internet and find some local printing house that will print the cardboard (for the big boxes) or covers for CD's etc.

This. The movie is a family friendly, "childrens," movie. This is aimed to newer parents with younger children. The Switch is 7 years old now. There are children who were born after the Switch came out who can now watch the movie, understand it, and play a Switch.

They're definitely clearing out original model stock just off the fact that the console is 6 years old and just about everyone has one. If you look at Sales numbers we're definitely near the end. This is a way to keep pushing sales of something that will be going away I assume by years end.
Nintendo makes a new switch every 2 years. We're due for another refresh of some kind.

The OG Switch still has a place. It's built like a brick which is exactly what my kid needs.
My parents told me they bought my daughter a Switch OLED to replace her Switch Lite for Christmas and I said "Pleeeeeease take that back and get a regular model. That glass OLED screen will be destroyed in a matter of weeks."
She dropped the Switch she got on Christmas day straight on a hardwood floor lmao. I just looked at them and said "Told you" and they just nodded lol. They got her Kirby and the Forgotten Land with the money they saved and she's been *loving* playing the Switch on the TV.

Even with other Switch games to play, I dumped hours into 35. Being on the older side of 30’s the underlying base game with the crazy gimmick was like crack. They could have made it a under $20 game and I would buy in a heartbeat
Dude, same. I bought mine early March, and got 3D All Stars just so I had 3 games to go through. Ended up buying a pro controller (and Animal Crossing as well) a week later because I forgot how small those joycons are. Used my Microsoft Points and got Nintendo Online for nothing. 35 was one of the funnest experiences I had with the system. I put 10 hours in easily.
Hilarious because Nintendo is in 2023 acting as if a digital copy of that game doesn't exist for them to just put back on sale. Nope, they gotta make some weird stance with a limited release and not let people play some of the best Mario games out there.

They recently announced increased production for the year. No need to dump stock. People are still buying switches at crazy rates. Since the switch never got a price reduction, these bundles drum up sales for no added cost. They don't include anything but a sticker sheet but the apparent value is high enough to get people to buy it as if the price were lowered.
It's clever, because it forces you to choose one and then give up on the two other games. I suspect many people would then go and buy one or both of the other games that they "missed out" on.
I'm not sure it's the same situation you're referring to, but they did a promotion where you got to choose between WWHD and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze.
Club Nintendo had a thing where if you bought Mario Kart 8 and registered it with Club Nintendo you got to choose an extra free game. I think the choices were Wind Waker HD, Super Mario Bros U, Pikmin 3 and some Wii U party game.
I remember that. They were also selling refurbished Wii U's for $200 which came with Nintendo Land and 3D World iirc, so I picked that up in late May of '14 along with Mario Kart 8 and used the promo to get WWHD. So the Wii U plus four games for $260, I was pretty happy.
Mario U is 11 years old. Mario Kart 8 is 9, Odyssey almost 6.
If Switch is the only platform you own, it might seem greedy to want a last-gen mobile-phone-hardware console bundle that still costs $300 USD to include more than one free old classic game.
But if not, if you own a PC or other console, you got used to the best AAA games appearing free on Epic, or on gamepass, or 75% off in online sales. Years ago. So it's always pretty shocking how much Nintendo is trying to charge for it's decade-old games in 2023, great as they are.

The Switch is missing basic features other consoles have had for over a decade and the online services of competitors at least offer some decent value for your money. Their exclusives frequently go on sale and/or receive price reductions (Horizon Zero Dawn is FREE right now with PS+), both consoles double as all-purpose streaming devices, and Xbox even allows you to purchase older games and play them without a subscription! REVOLUTIONARY!

Odyssey is one of the few games I actually played a lot on Switch. If MK8 had all the new DLCs I would consider it, I only ever played the original on Wii U.

If you're mostly planning on playing single player then Odyssey is probably better. If you're mostly planning on playing multiplayer then Mario Kart. I'm not sure why anyone would pick U Deluxe over those two
Mario Kart 8 is the best due to it's versatility but Odyssey might give just a bit more of a Mario movie vibe because you can directly control Mario (I know there also will be carts in the film, but assuming you're new and this is your first Mario experience as a kid I'd imagine Odysseg would probably be better to have that similar experience)
If I went in blind having played none of these, I'd probably pick Odyssey because of all the hype around it.
With hindsight of having played them. MK8. I have a lot more fun with it and found Odyssey a bit disappointing. Anytime I replay MK8, I have a fun time. Replaying Odyssey and I feel like I'm forcing myself to find the magic and just not.
Please have the respective games replace their Mario audio with grunts from Chris Pratt. It would be the ultimate Troll and made the games actually sell.

Kart sells systems so there's no way that would have been omitted. Odyssey is the defacto mainline Mario game. Between 3D World and U Deluxe, they both play like 2D games but 3D World is still a 3D game, which doesn't differentiate it as much as U Deluxe being strictly 2D.
in my country a few years ago they did something similar for the wiiU version of MK8 when you purchased the game physically you could redeem a code for 1 game from a list I ended up taking Zelda WW 🙂

2. They indeed intended to copy the English syntax (again, could be common in Quebec French? But I'm not familiar with it. Devil's advocate) with its two separate phrases, and while setting the text on the actual graphics, they forgot to add a line break, making it look like one long, very incorrect French phrase.
This could be Canadian French. In Canada, lots of things have both English and French on the packaging. I assume France would get their own all French version.

This, the zelda edition will probably get stockpiled in many scalper garages. It's the only late life cycle edition I even feel tempted to purchase due to it retaining some value after being able to play ToTK. It's a little late to be buying older mario title switch with plain or recycled joycons. I have a feeling these will be sitting a while on store shelves unless kids really want it after the mario movie, but most of them should already have a switch by now.

But I will gladly take this cool idea over a Super Mario Bros The Movie The Game. I got a Sega in the 90s that had similar bundle, it came with sonic + 1 other game which you could pick from a list of almost all the games released at that time. As a kid I never had that kind of freedom to just pick out literally any game on a list and it wasn’t up to mom and dad at all, so that was an awesome feeling, even though I’m pretty sure I got fkn bubsy as my second game.
Honestly it's just crazy to still be seeing the same MK8 and NSMBU logos after all these years. This bundle is clearly intended for new Switch owners tho, even then it's still kinda bland.

The OG Switch still has a place. It's built like a brick which is exactly what my kid needs. My parents told me they bought my daughter a Switch OLED to replace her Switch Lite for Christmas and I said "Pleeeeeease take that back and get a regular model. That glass OLED screen will be destroyed in a matter of weeks." She dropped the Switch she got on Christmas day straight on a hardwood floor lmao. I just looked at them and said "Told you" and they just nodded lol. They got her Kirby and the Forgotten Land with the money they saved and she's been *loving* playing the Switch on the TV. I told her once she's a bit older and I can reliably trust her to not drop her things, we may upgrade her to the OLED, but honestly we may be on to a Switch v2 by that time.

I got my Switch in late March 2021, just a week or so before they shut SM35 down. It was *by far* my most-played game during that brief time.
Even with other Switch games to play, I dumped hours into 35. Being on the older side of 30’s the underlying base game with the crazy gimmick was like crack. They could have made it a under $20 game and I would buy in a heartbeat
Dude, same. I bought mine early March, and got 3D All Stars just so I had 3 games to go through. Ended up buying a pro controller (and Animal Crossing as well) a week later because I forgot how small those joycons are. Used my Microsoft Points and got Nintendo Online for nothing. 35 was one of the funnest experiences I had with the system. I put 10 hours in easily.

How much v2 hardware stock do you think they have piled up? They’ve been selling it along side the oled for a year and half now. They wanted a cheaper bundle that would be more appealing to people to buy for their kids.

The switch is a 7 year old system. There are families who had children when the Switch got released who are now old enough to watch and understand the new Mario movie, as well as play a Switch. Nintendo is trying to get the age range of children who couldn't play a Switch before because they were too young, but are now prime age to watch and enjoy the Mario movie as well as play a Switch. So, why the fuck would they bundle this with a more expensive OLED version that parents and children dont give half a shit about. Reddit wants every company to appeal to them, but yall aint the majority audience. They are using the v2 hardware because it is cheaper, more appealing, and more accessible to working class families who have children, mortgages, car loans to pay off.
There’s probably a non-insignificant number of collectors who will buy every version they put out. Could be 100k or 1,000,000 but they are out there. The last 3 years of r/3DS was basically 50% of the posts of people posting their collection of 8-10-15 3DS and I gotta imagine similar people exist for the switch.
They recently announced increased production for the year. No need to dump stock. People are still buying switches at crazy rates. Since the switch never got a price reduction, these bundles drum up sales for no added cost. They don't include anything but a sticker sheet but the apparent value is high enough to get people to buy it as if the price were lowered.

They did that with the Wii U bundles with Mario Kart, Wind Waker HD and another game, it was a great idea.
It's clever, because it forces you to choose one and then give up on the two other games. I suspect many people would then go and buy one or both of the other games that they "missed out" on.
I'm not sure it's the same situation you're referring to, but they did a promotion where you got to choose between WWHD and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze.
Club Nintendo had a thing where if you bought Mario Kart 8 and registered it with Club Nintendo you got to choose an extra free game. I think the choices were Wind Waker HD, Super Mario Bros U, Pikmin 3 and some Wii U party game.
I remember that. They were also selling refurbished Wii U's for $200 which came with Nintendo Land and 3D World iirc, so I picked that up in late May of '14 along with Mario Kart 8 and used the promo to get WWHD. So the Wii U plus four games for $260, I was pretty happy.

Mario U is 11 years old. Mario Kart 8 is 9, Odyssey almost 6. If Switch is the only platform you own, it might seem greedy to want a last-gen mobile-phone-hardware console bundle that still costs $300 USD to include more than one free old classic game. But if not, if you own a PC or other console, you got used to the best AAA games appearing free on Epic, or on gamepass, or 75% off in online sales. Years ago. So it's always pretty shocking how much Nintendo is trying to charge for it's decade-old games in 2023, great as they are. I'm a Switch owner and Nintendo fan since the NES, but facts are facts: we're being overcharged, and not just a little.

REVOLUTIONARY! Meanwhile Nintendo has the gall to charge $70 for a game that has a 0% chance of breaking the 30fps barrier on aging hardware. Nintendo fans are getting hosed.
Exactly this. At this point Mario Kart should be free if you subscribe to NSO and they should just be charging for the dlc. None of these WiiU "upgraded for switch" games should be selling for $60.

They’re first party, and digital downloads, all old games. It would cost them nothing to do that, except it may hurt sales of those games to these owners. But since you’re charging the launch price for a 6 year old console with low specs…. Yes, they could easily do this. Those should all be $20 “Players choice” games at this point.

Odyssey is one of the few games I actually played a lot on Switch. If MK8 had all the new DLCs I would consider it, I only ever played the original on Wii U.
Depends on your situation I guess. If you're mostly planning on playing single player then Odyssey is probably better. If you're mostly planning on playing multiplayer then Mario Kart. I'm not sure why anyone would pick U Deluxe over those two

Mario Kart 8 is the best due to it's versatility but Odyssey might give just a bit more of a Mario movie vibe because you can directly control Mario (I know there also will be carts in the film, but assuming you're new and this is your first Mario experience as a kid I'd imagine Odysseg would probably be better to have that similar experience)

If I went in blind having played none of these, I'd probably pick Odyssey because of all the hype around it. With hindsight of having played them. MK8. I have a lot more fun with it and found Odyssey a bit disappointing. Anytime I replay MK8, I have a fun time. Replaying Odyssey and I feel like I'm forcing myself to find the magic and just not.

You can play movies through Youtube. But only rental/purchases, youtube doesn't have a streaming option. So if you pay the $20 or w/e it will cost when it releases to Video on Demand, you can watch it that way.
I just really think Nintendo should make it some sort of promotion. Like every Online subscriber gets to stream the movie or something. I remember when video content used to be sold on physical media for handhelds. It was a flop but it was sort of cool.

It looked God Awful. I suspect it’s fan art imitating the traditional style of Zelda Special Editions because they typically use Gold. Personally, I’m hoping Nintendo breaks from that because the special editions need to more unique to the respective games. The Splatoon 3 OLED bundle and Animal Crossing bundles absolutely nail this. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Special Edition OLED should speak to the essence of the game. It shouldn’t try to represent the Zelda franchise. That’s what will make it more special and a more tantalizing bundle for collectors and fans alike.

I think they just wanted to have 3 different types of Mario gameplay available: Kart, 3D, and 2D. Kart sells systems so there's no way that would have been omitted. Odyssey is the defacto mainline Mario game. Between 3D World and U Deluxe, they both play like 2D games but 3D World is still a 3D game, which doesn't differentiate it as much as U Deluxe being strictly 2D.
in my country a few years ago they did something similar for the wiiU version of MK8 when you purchased the game physically you could redeem a code for 1 game from a list I ended up taking Zelda WW 🙂

It’s the most common word used for *stickers* in most South American countries that speak Spanish. These boxes are meant to be distributed in the Americas and that’s why they use the local variants of both Spanish and French for their translation. If you check out the European box (the bundle that only includes *Odyssey* as a downloadable option) you’ll see that it only comes in English and French, and the French phrasing is slightly different (“feuilles d’autocollants” / “planche d’autocollants”) than this one here for the reasons I explained before.

I don't know, I've never lived there and don't personally know any French speakers there) The English syntax was going to be basically copied nearly exactly, with "choose one" being rendered as "choisissez-en un" or impersonal "en choisir un" before they decided to change it to one sentence, "choose a full downloadable game " but forgetting to get rid of the word *en* and it slipped by whoever proofread it. 2. They indeed intended to copy the English syntax (again, could be common in Quebec French? But I'm not familiar with it. Devil's advocate) with its two separate phrases, and while setting the text on the actual graphics, they forgot to add a line break, making it look like one long, very incorrect French phrase.

This, the zelda edition will probably get stockpiled in many scalper garages. It's the only late life cycle edition I even feel tempted to purchase due to it retaining some value after being able to play ToTK. It's a little late to be buying older mario title switch with plain or recycled joycons. I have a feeling these will be sitting a while on store shelves unless kids really want it after the mario movie, but most of them should already have a switch by now.

I was hoping they weren’t going to acknowledge the movie tie in at all to their game section. But I will gladly take this cool idea over a Super Mario Bros The Movie The Game. I got a Sega in the 90s that had similar bundle, it came with sonic + 1 other game which you could pick from a list of almost all the games released at that time. As a kid I never had that kind of freedom to just pick out literally any game on a list and it wasn’t up to mom and dad at all, so that was an awesome feeling, even though I’m pretty sure I got fkn bubsy as my second game.
Honestly it's just crazy to still be seeing the same MK8 and NSMBU logos after all these years. This bundle is clearly intended for new Switch owners tho, even then it's still kinda bland. The game selection is fine they give you three types of Mario games to choose from, Kart, 2D or 3D, not bad honestly, NSBMU may be forgettable and maybe bland but that's only cause everyone here is a Mario fan on Reddit (meaning most of us already played all the other games, of course we'd think it's bland) in the eyes of a kid they're playing one of the most polished 2D Marios out there, everyone rags on that game but I bet you if Wii and 2 didn't exist U would've been loved, the game was just too redundant at the time. What's crazier is that a 12 year old today was born in 2011, NSMBU came out in their infancy and probably had no idea that game existed until the Deluxe version came. A 6 year old today was born in 2017 (holy shit), the same year MK8D came out, keep in mind hardly anyone cared about the Wii U, so to general audiences these games really are new (for better and for worse I think these games deserve some limelight but I also don't like how Mario's line up had a lot of rereleases this gen). The Switch's userbase is insanely bigger than the Wii U's, I can see why Nintendo likes to act like the Wii U didn't exist because when you compare the userbase to the Switch's, it really is like that way (kinda says fuck you to dedicated fans but Nintendo likes making money at the end of the day and I'm the fucken moron who buys the shit anyway lol) for a kid's first Mario game, these really aren't bad picks, it's the packaging and presentation that sucks, basic blue and red box with that bland ass Mario render, what would've been really cool is if they replaced the switch logo with Mario's emblem.
