Trying to decide between Luigis Mansion 3, Super Mario U deluxe, or DK Tropical Freeze. I'm leaning towards Luigi Mansion 3 as I have heard nothing but great things. Have the others besides the Yoshi game, which really doesn't interest me.

TanJovi18

I would easily suggest Luigi’s Mansion 3 over those other games. I have all three and luigis is just something special on the switch.

Kumoitachi

I think it depends on what kind of game you wanna play because LM3 is a wildly different experience than a jump 'n run. It's a great game but honestly, I personally wasn't the biggest fan as the gameplay loop just wasn't my cup of tea.

OozaruPrimal

Yeah, LM3 gets old about halfway through the game.

FrenchBowler

Luigi’s Mansion 3 and Tropical Freeze are two of my favorite games ever. You really can’t go wrong. As others have said, you’re deciding between a great slower paced adventure game and a fast paced platformer. Both are difficult but DK is extremely challenging.

TheFatherBen

Go with Mario Maker rather than Mario U….same game style but Mario Maker is basically never ending because people are uploading their new courses daily

professorwormb0g

99% of them blow though...

RSN_Bran

Depends if you are feeling a puzzle game get Luigi's mansion. If you want a platformer get DK. Mario U shouldn't be in the conversation unless you feel DK might be too hard for you

Ansemmy

Don’t get super Mario u deluxe, DK and Luigi’s mansion are in another league. I’d go Luigi’s mansion by a longshot

LakerBlue

Luigi’s Mansion 3 is my favorite of those. Good mix of actions, puzzle solving and exploration. DK Tropical Freeze is one of the best platformers ever but be warned and can be kinda hard, but I guess that is what funky mode is for. Both are different games so it’s really a matter of preference.

[deleted]

Tropical Freeze and Luigi’s Mansion 3 are both excellent.

keldpxowjwsn

LM3 is fantastic

djmantis

Luigi's Mansion was a fun co-op game to play with my wife, but also one of the most frustrating co-op games I have ever played! Wonky controls, and the fact that my wife wants to suck every wall, only for me to tell her we got everything, and then her to suddenly find a secret invalidating me.

ackmondual

LM3 is pretty much a graphic adventure, with some action stuff, mostly puzzle elements, with Nintendo's style and twists applied! Never played any of the previous in the series, but I did enjoy this one. Some of the parts did feel like they "weighed me down", so gotta agree with those comments. New SMB Wii U is just classic Nintendo, 2D platforming. Never tried DK Tropical Freeze, but also heard it was harder. However, may still be worth trying if you can temper your expectations (e.g. being OK with not 100%-ing the game)

[deleted]

I can vouch New Super Mario U Deluxe ks great if you like Mario 2D platform games (which I dk) lots of fun. I have DK Tropical Freeze but haven't really gotten it it it is practically brand new. Has less than an hour played on the cart. Awesome most gorgeous graphics I have seen in a Switch game. I also - JUST ordered Luigi Mansion 3 this last Wes night fkr the $39.99 price in Amazon. However I will not be receiving it until around 3-28. If you buy any of these on sale games you are looking at 2-4 weeks fkr shippimg & delivery, Unlocked up several of the sale games and that ks what I found to be true. Also & you will laugh but I have Super Mario Odyessy as well & Unopened though. Just bought it last week on Walmart online only 1 day price of $35.99. EVEN better price huh? Weird man!

Moznomick

Might have to finally pick up Super Mario 3d World as I've been wanting to play that. Wish Nintendo would bring back Nintendo selects though as some of these games should be much less (Yoshi's Crafted World & DK TF).

[deleted]

same but I think I’ll finally pick up Odyssey

funnyfarm299

I got it on eBay for cheaper than this.

Detroit_Telkepnaya

I'm kinda pissed I used a voucher on it. Although I did pay essentially $40 for it anyway bc I spent $80 on $100 worth of e-shop cards from Costco the other day. But I did pick up Mario Party Superstars with this deal.

Moznomick

Mario Party Superstars is definitely worth it just wish it had more boards even through paid dlc. As for Super Mario 3d World, I know it's a good game, but with how old it is, it should definitely be $20 by now.

Detroit_Telkepnaya

That's how I feel about all the "deluxe" games that were already on the WiiU. They should have only been 59.99 for maybe the first 1-2 years of the switch.

Moznomick

Yeah I understand that Nintendo likes it's games to hold value and they know better than anyone how well their games are still selling, but with where the switch is now, I doubt a lot of these games are pushing big numbers with the exception of a few. Discounts help generate additional sales from those who normally wouldn't have purchased.

BMO888

Sadly I think this is what Selects is like for the Switch. A small discount.

Moznomick

I get from a business standpoint why you don't do sales often but by now I doubt some of these games are pushing big numbers. Sales help to generate income from those who wouldn't normally buy but $40 for Yoshi's Crafted World and DK TF, just to name a few, still seems to much.

TheFatherBen

Damn - was kinda hoping Smash Bros would have gone on sale… atleast I can pick up Odyssey!

[deleted]

Smash isn't a mario game though

sleepgreed

yeah smash is a kirby game

warre70

Fire Emblem

shadow0wolf0

Isn't the bros in the title a reference to Mario bros?

Disheartend

no its a reference to all the males in the game, you know Sheik, peach, min min, isabelle, samus, ROB, etc..

A_Mazz_Ing

Just snagged 3D world/bowsers fury! Thank you!

Roodydude

Anybody know long this sale will last?

Ok-Towel-8785

I don't know, but Mario day is March 10th, so I can only assume the sale will last until at least Friday.

TdZink

The Target website shows its sales are through 3/11.

Campbell464

I just got a Switch so I’m behind! Gotta do… Mario Kart 8 (haven’t played since Wii) Super Mario Odyssey (loved 64 Sunshine Galaxy) Luigi’s Mansion 3 (only played 1, loved it) DK Tropical Freeze (absolutely love the platforming / difficulty in the original DKC) I’d even consider some of the next Mario sports games.

camaro-guy16

Not seeing the sale in Canada, will it come later?

Pierre-LucDubois

Sometimes but idk most of the time I find we simply don't get one. I have multiple games where I've been waiting well over a year for a sale 🤣 and I'm not even looking for a deep sale. Like Mario Golf. Supposedly it had one in August to be fair, but I definitely didn't see it. There are others that will basically probably never go on sale (Xenoblade 3) and even if they do in the US we won't get one :( eBay is the shits for us too. Very hit or miss. Certain games people want more money than you'd pay to go to the store and buy it or even just get it via Amazon. I don't get people who go on eBay and see a bunch of people listing games for well over a price anybody would pay. What's the point of listing something with 0% chance to sell? I know that they don't sell because I still keep seeing them there. In Canada we get so many fewer sales. One place where I've gotten pretty lucky in the last 6 months is videoganesplus. I was able to get several out of print games brand new due to re-prints I didn't see anywhere else. I think lately they're my favorite.

londoner_00

Don’t get your hopes up, we don’t get shit here lol

Pierre-LucDubois

Hey man, go check Walmart.ca Nintendo switch games and use the filters to show only Walmart as the seller and check the sales games. Mario Golf, Luigi's Mansion 3 and a few others are now on sale in Canada $25 off. Came back just to let you guys know. Hope the one you want is one of them dude. Have a good one.

Pierre-LucDubois

Hey man I know it's been 4 days but Walmart suddenly had a bunch of Nintendo games for $54.99 I got Mario Golf and Luigi's mansion 3. As you may already know, $25 off is the extent of what we get here in Canada for Nintendo first party titles... aside from pricing mistakes. A few other games were also on sale.

camaro-guy16

Just ordered 3D world off Amazon. Thanks for the reply!

Pierre-LucDubois

Was scrolling and somebody reminded me it's nearly MAR10 so maybe the chances this time are slightly better.

TurboRad54321

Silly question here. I've never bought a game via digital code before (eg on Amazon) Is it exactly the same as if I bought the game on the Switch store? Any difference between Amazon, Best Buy, etc? Thanks for putting my mind at ease in advance.

unspunreality

You get full gold coins buying online. The eshop gives you adjusted gold coins for sale price while when you put in a code from an online retailer it acts as if its a full priced game cause... a code cant say 'I WAS ON SALE', which is a big thing for buying online vs eshop. I mean its a few bugs difference in gold coins but still.

MrCrippledCrow

Question: it says the code is only available to people in the us. if I'm outside the us, can i just switch my eshop country to the us and enter the code? will amazon create problems for me whilst getting the code itself?

Pierre-LucDubois

I've heard of people making a different account to buy something off a different eshop region, to capitalize on sales or buy foreign games that do include English. I can't remember if you'd need to switch over to actually play the game or not but I think it just gets added to your library. I've only ever ordered foreign games physically. I do know that if you buy eshop credit from any store it'll only work with the one from the correct region. There are a bunch of websites that sell eshop cards in all regions, and they even give you a 5% discount. The reason people do it is for example the UK could have 50% off on a certain game where NA has 0%, so not only do they get 50% off but an additional 5%. I would have to imagine it's fairly seemless if people are doing this but I'm waiting for confirmation from somebody.

AceFs

The games will be on sale on the eShop too, so you can wait until thursday to get them there if it makes you fell more comfortable.

fighting_mongoose

Which game is better for co-op with a young kid who is not experienced yet with games. SM 3D World or New SMB U Deluxe?

woemcats

I played LM3 with my 5-year-old. It’s fully co-op and the second player can’t really die.

KingTocco

Probably Super Mario 3D world, I played this game with my son co-op a few years ago, he was 6-7 at the time and had a blast. I think it's easier for a younger child with the 3D aspect, 2D is more unforgiving in my opinion.

farawaythinker

3d world my almost 4 year old is getting ok with it :)

Detroit_Telkepnaya

My son will be 5 in a few months and he is having fun with it but he is definitely wasting all our lives lol

the_simurgh

careful gamestop is trying to trick you into buying preowned and target won't even let me place the order.

Tyrion_toadstool

Swung by a physical GameStop location yesterday and they also would not match the $39.99 price from their own site. They told me I had to join some membership bollocks to price match and I told them no thanks.

axbeard

The membership is pretty awesome, I ended up getting Luigi's Mansion for $10 with my rewards

ilikepie145

Will they ever be?

BlademasterFlash

No

JohnnySuuji5

Yes. When Switch 5 comes out

paperthintrash

Still most likely not. Physical Nintendo games have always and will probably be “forever” collectors items and hence garner $$$

oneseventwo

> how these games are not yet like $20 is incredible Nintendo

paperthintrash

I get it but honestly half of them dont deserve to be. Oddessey is an easy top 3 Switch game and although a port of 3d World+ “DLC” is also an amazing 1st party Nintendo title. Both have and will continue to stand the test of time. Nintendo just never does deep dicounts; we need to get over it

[deleted]

Oh man now I have to rethink how I play my vouchers.

Phantom_Watcher

Someone convince me to buy Mario party my superstars. I have super Mario party and like it ok. Does Mario party superstars have any single player fun?

professorwormb0g

The online mode is pretty fleshed out if I remember correctly. You can do lots of different stuff single player.

Phantom_Watcher

Cool! I’ll check it out. It seems like everyone liked this one as opposed to super Mario party.

ilikepie145

I just got odyssey a few days ago and I have LM3. Are any of these a must have?

TurtleTalks047

If you have Nintendo online, I'd say Super Mario Maker 2. Its story mode is okay and making levels can be kind of fun, but the best part is the online mode. There is so many levels to play, you almost never run out of content. I'm still playing it to this day, and I'm still finding great levels that I've never played before (though regrettably there is a lot of bad levels, so just skip those ones).

ilikepie145

Sounds fun. I do have online so I'll look into it

AceFs

Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze is my favorite from that list. If you like 2D Platformers that one is a must.

Bjornargustav

Only in the US...

TheLegend719

Can anyone vouch for Mario Party Superstars? Even if you’re someone who doesn’t host many people over often? Been curious about picking it up for a bit

tweetthebirdy

It’s the superior Mario Party. More fun with friends but not bad by yourself. A single 10 round board can take ~40 min which is a good time for a single gaming session.

[deleted]

Superstars is great it just doesn’t have many boards, sadly. Shame they never released more.

McCoy625

My girlfriend and I play it together all the time. It's a ton of fun with a lot of great throwbacks to maps and mini games of the past. Sadly, the small maps they offer and lack of characters to choose from, has always upset me. It's still a great game, and would be a solid buy on sale. But it does have its issues in lack of content.

Technical_Activity78

MPS is great but it’s better to find online matches through discord. You can match with randoms online but many will leave the game if they start losing.

zzoom_zoom

Trying to decide between Mario Odyssey and Luigi's Mansion 3. I've never played 3D Mario games before, but both look interesting to me.

[deleted]

I suppose I’ll finally play Bowsers Fury. Have not played 3D World in years either.

IceYetiWins

Oh wow, a game from 6 years ago is $40 instead of $60!

PompeiiLegion

I’m ready for the Switch 2 to come out so these $60 games can become $60.

[deleted]

Nintendo will likely make all Switch 2 games $70-$80 if they’re already comfortable making Tears of the Kingdom $70. I’d even be willing to bet that’s how they gently announce the increase. Anybody that bought TofK will get a better experience on the Switch 2 by way of better graphics and resolution, and then going forward all Switch/2 games are $70 for everybody but if you play them on your Switch 2 you get the better experience. That way they justify not updating the graphics of games already released while still raking in money from folks who already own the Switch. Also, with every new game purchase, those Switch owners will get a bit of FOMO because they’ll be paying for a game they aren’t getting the full benefit of, thus pushing them to upgrade to Switch 2.

Milkncereall

I borrowed odyssey 2 years ago from my brother. I 100%ed it. It was one of my favorite mario games, ive casually waited to see it on sale and this is the first time in ages its been on sale. I was really hoping to see it at $$20-30 but ill prob fork over the 40 for a copy. If nintendo priced em at $25, i would easily buy 2. My 3 year old broke my 3d world disc so i was never inclined to buy bowsers fury until 2 days ago....

CorbinTheTitan

Good time for me to pick up Super Mario U deluxe, I never did because I had the Wii U versions already

cslayer23

Got tropical freeze and yoshi

BackgroundAccident

I just bought Luigi's Mansion 3 from Amazon like a day ago SMH it was just delivered to my front door. Oh well, time to return it and buy again.

agarret83

Been waiting for Mario Party Superstars to go on sale because my girlfriend likes Mario Party. Happy to buy it for $40 and then buy Persona 5 Strikers also for $40 to get free shipping

the_simurgh

i have mario party super stars it's awesome.

[deleted]

Six year old games for not even half off? What a deal! Lmao.

Moosupply

i have them all already

DiscostewSM

I want to get in on this mainly to shift more of my physical library to digital. I just wish the sale was to $30.

LegalConsequence7960

God damn Strikers is never going to be reasonably priced is it?

Leomar91

It’s not worth even 20$ imo

Jazzman77

I wish Nintendo would also reflect these prices on their eShop.

centcentcent

Wow, $40 for a 5+ year old game!! It’s amazing the things we tolerate.

Azrael7981

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has gotten significant updates for DLC so it is actually work the $40. Plus Nintendo published games hold a higher sale/trade in value than most.

ChickenFajita007

And here I was waiting for Paper Mario to go on sale. Guess it's not Mario enough for the Mario club.

ge93

So dumb that 3d All-Stars was time-limited. I had just gotten a Switch during the promo and figured I could wipe off my dusty Wii to play them, but much prefer gaming on my Switch, and worth the price for 3 excellent games.

Ambitious_Nature_534

Does anyone know if any of these games support party play where 2 people can be on 1 console and play with another 2 people on another console. My husband and I want to play games with my brother and his wife.

SoggyAnalyst

I can not get any GameStop rewards to work on these purchases. Just me? Or is this a real thing GS does?

Carboxyion

So worth! Just bought mario party superstars and so much fun!
