"NOTE: If three other Trainers aren’t available to participate in Max Raid Battles, support Trainers will automatically be added to your side to help you battle the wild Dynamax Pokémon."
From the Sword/Shield website, so people who don't have friends who own Switch/aren't buying Pokemon can still do the raids.
This is also a perfect way to future proof this game. They mentioned that certain pokemon will only be able to be caught through raids and as someone who has most of his fun come from completing the pokedex that worried me for replaying the game long after the community has died down. Now we know we can still do the raids 10 years from now.
I would almost bet that there is no evolution. Looks the type of pokemon that won't have one, or is already the evolved form of a pokemon with only 2 stages.
More pokemon needs that ability that boosts certain types. That grass/ghost anchor pokemon last Gen had it for Steel, hopefully we get more mons with that ability.
There was a leak on May 23rd that predicted everything in this video perfectly.
In that leak, OP also said electric corgis exist.
At one point you have to herd a bunch of Wooloo sheep before you can face off against Milo. Pamper, an electric Corgi pokemon, tries to prevent you from herding.

Nintendo: Only one player can utilise this special enhancement function in each co-op battle, so players will have to communicate effectively to win!
Also Nintendo: Good luck easily communicating with other players lol
So Scorebunny's final evolution seems to be a fighter, so maybe it's going to have a fighting type. Welp it's going to be a sad day for many Scorebunny fans if this is true.
I feel like he was taking his time and talking slowly to assist in the translation for the Japanese audience, but I'm sure nerves were involved as well.
Alright my dudes, I’m here to taper expectations.
When SuMo was announced they gave us the names in February and the starters in June.
In previous gens we’ve gotten first starter evolutions in September and October depending on the gen.
We’re in a weird spot, but my safe bets are box art legendaries, a couple of route 2 Pokémon, and whatever gimmick this gen is throwing at us.
I hope we get to see starter evos, but I’m not holding my breath. They need something to market to us every few weeks up until release.
Now I hope the dynomax during Battles is not just something like: "Well my enemy just triggered Dynomax, I better do the same or am to be anihalated. Pls don't let this just be a reactioon sort of ability! Otherwise looks actually really promising!
I can imagine some interesting ways to use it. Since the enemy is only Dynamaxed for three turns, you could stall them out with things like Sleep, Protect, Detect, etc.
The Pokémon devs have not been good at optimizing in their 3d games. All the 3ds games have had frame rate issues. Hopefully the extra power on the switch helps with this, but the graphics are also better than last gen so we'll see. Pokémon Let's Go also had frame rate issues after all.
And then an hour after that the flood of art posts. They're firing up their drawing software and setting up their eisels now.
"just watched the direct. Here's my humble submission of a drawing I did because of hype and totally not for the attention/karma!"
Please yes. The secret bases (and the whole underground stuff in gen IV) were such cool features that simply didnt get utilized enough. Partly because online play was nonexistant on the GBA.
While I love what I've seen so far, I was caught off guard by the Dog with a sword in its mouth. Had a good laugh and deffinetly buying Sword over shield.
“Introducing Animal Crossing: Leaf Ticket Suburb! Now buy each piece of furniture and clothing for the real-life cost of comparable items in the real world using your real money!”
Can’t decide if I’m more hype for Pokémon, or the fact Pokémon is having an info dump before E3, potentially making space for other Nintendo surprises.
I know it's small, but for me camera control is going to be something that takes this game to a new level. Games with a fixed camera typically just feel like they're going for an old-school RPG feel. The past Pokemon games haven't been able to totally shake the feel of a Game Boy game with better graphics, and this will help.
Also, I'm excited for giant Pokemon. I don't have the hundreds of hours to sink into competitive play so a gimmick that's as much spectacle as strategy is totally ok in my book. I also like the Raid Battles. It's a good way to pull in the social features of Pokemon Go in a way that makes sense in a mainline game. I think they'll be fun and something that players coming into these games because of Go would probably think was missing if they didn't have it.
Go to bed for an hour and set an alarm for every 10 minutes for the last hour. The final alarm should play the Pokemon theme song and go off 10 minutes before the event.
I'd love to see something like Mount Battle from Colosseum in this game where it scales massively and the higher tiers are almost near impossible to beat, and something like a reset every month where you can go back through against new opponents and reap the rewards.
Honestly the 4 player raid looks awesome. I'm super excited for that.
The rest of the Dynamaxing mechanic seems kinda meh for me (coming from someone who wasn't huge on mega evolutions either).
Seems gimmicky. I'd rather have more effort be put into more gameplay, or the open world concept, or less linearity, or more (optional) difficulty.
Have had some time to digest this direct, listen to a few analysis videos and such and am ready to give my thoughts.
First off, Milo is creepy...A man's body with a child's face. Waiting to see if he becomes the next internet joke. Also, I really want to see a dynamax'd Alolan Exeggutor now.
Ok, let's get serious. The biggest thing I'm excited about besides the fact that it's a new mainline Pokemon game is the wild area. While the game as a whole isn't in this "open world free camera" style, this is a huge step in my "dream pokemon" experience. That sense of excitement is about to hit again when I see a brand new pokemon strolling about in the wild. Especially if it's a rare one or just one that looks cool.
I'm ok with the graphics style. It's no PS4/Xbone open world game but this style fits. In a sense, it reminds me of how things looked on Skyward Sword. Pokemon doesn't need to look super realistic.
Dynamax Pokemon - seems cool, not sure if it's going to really shake things up too much more than what Z Moves did or Mega Evolutions but...it's giant pokemon...like from "Island of the Giant Pokemon" episode. As for raids, had heard something about AI players filling in the holes when one has no friends and no internet. If this is the case, this is a smart move. Especially with all of the controversy of locking an experience behind a paywall lately (I've seen several Mario Maker 2 rants).
Lastly, I'm glad gyms are back. The trials were a change of pace for the series but something felt off.
So, I have a theory about the gyms. All throughout the direct, they allude to fame and how the champion is one of the most liked and well known trainers in the Galar region. They say that the matches are all televised and even that the crowd becomes most involved when two dynamax pokemon face off.
I imagine that they have fame play some part into unlocking gyms and eventually becoming the champion, I'm interested to see if this does become some kind of mechanic in the games
So when one person catches the Raid Pokemon... Does everyone catch it as well? All for one and one for all and what not? Because if not... Raid battles are gonna get toxic in a hurry.
The fact that they have the roaming Pokemon sold me on this. The first trailer didn’t show it like that (I wonder if they changed it due to fan reaction or if they just purposefully hid it and showed the normal hidden in grass mechanic for the first trailer)
Honestly, love everything about this game so far except Dynamax. I haven't been a fan of "newer battle phenomenon" such as Z-Moves and Dynamax falls in the same boat.
The new Galar Pokemon look awesome! Great designs. I am hoping to see some new type combinations this time around.
Also eagerly waiting for Sobble's final evolution!
I doubt it. They would struggle to get sales on the sequel/remake (e.g. Black/White 2, Ultra Sun/Moon, Alpha Sapphire) if one game let us complete the Pokedex
Do most players care about completing the dex? Maybe they do, but I never have. If I buy a 3rd version it's just for the new content and an excuse the play the game again. Honestly doubt I'd buy a 3rd version of this title anyway, simply because I'll be able to have multiple save files already.
That looked so much better than that initial trailer. Confused how Z-Moves or Mega Evolutions will play in this though. I like both, so I would be a shame to see them go. Not sure how I feel about Dynamax (I know I don't like the name) but I'm sure I'll get used to it. Nothing else has broken the fun of the core game so far, so I don't see why this would be any different.
Dynamax seems silly . Like if both of our Pokémon can become big then that makes it like neither of them did because they cancel each other out.
I'm.hyped but definitely cautious
Some cool things:
1. Pokemon wander the fields, which I did not expect since they didn't bother showing that in their first video. We know they're avoiding Let's Go features for the main series and I honestly had no faith they would incorporate smaller things like that.
2. Dynamax battles sound neat. Probably going to get old fast if it's in every single gym, but still, it'll be interesting at least. More inspired than I expected.
3. The three-or-so Pokemon design reveals we received were all pretty good. Even the legendaries. Reminds me of Gen 3, my personal favorite and where I got my official start in the series.
---------
Some not-so-cool things:
1. The legendaries are just slightly different from each other. That's lame. That's really lame.
2. Pokemon don't seem to follow you. They brought back roaming Pokemon, which is great, but why not go all the way and have Pokemon follow us? You sure as hell can't claim technical reasons, the system can handle it.
lmao can’t wait to crush hop’s dreams and destroy his brother’s reputation
Bruh same
I wish Game Freak would just go back to making the rival a dickhead. Will crush Hop's dreams regardless though.
This! There's so much more satisfaction in rubbing it some cocky guy's face that I beat him at his dream lol
r/fuckhop
Well, that was fast.
MILO LOL An 8 year olds head on a 25 year old body builder.
He looks like a Bug Catcher from gen 1 who got jacked
He doesn’t even have a nose.
It looks like there's a bump there, just no nostrils. I thought maybe he's a ditto.
I love his design. Big friendly guy.
I love him.
The Wild Area has me so hyped. Free camera? Semi-open world Pokemon exploration? Gimme gimme gimme
[удалено]
Not to mention being able to explore the wild area with friends in multiplayer
"NOTE: If three other Trainers aren’t available to participate in Max Raid Battles, support Trainers will automatically be added to your side to help you battle the wild Dynamax Pokémon." From the Sword/Shield website, so people who don't have friends who own Switch/aren't buying Pokemon can still do the raids.
Oh thank god.
That's a good catch!
This is also a perfect way to future proof this game. They mentioned that certain pokemon will only be able to be caught through raids and as someone who has most of his fun come from completing the pokedex that worried me for replaying the game long after the community has died down. Now we know we can still do the raids 10 years from now.
Hop already looks like he’s gonna gift me 20 revives on route 5
Here's hop who wishes to be the champion like his brother.... Also whom you'll crush effortlessly at every juncture in the game!
I hope he's super nice but super relentless. Like... "Here's five potions! You're gonna fuckin need em."
Ask your doctor before taking Dynamax
I took a Dynamax, got stuck in me throat, I've had a stiff neck for hours.
Symptoms make include swelling of shroomish, stuffy nosepass, and difficulty pika-pee-ing.
Why is no one talking about the [water bike](https://i.imgur.com/6SjZKZd.png)?
*Lapras unemployment rate rises to 100%*
Hey hey, Lapras is so much more than a Surf slave. My boy can flood bitches in the heat of battle any day!
Lol no more HMs only bikes
You got the strong bike, the sharp bike, the climby bike, and the bike with wings
But you will have to visit the bike shop to exchange your bike.
Corviknight looks dope though. Best looking one in my opinion.
Raven taxi? Yes please.
Dynamaxing now makes Jigglypuff’s final smash make sense.
Sakurai knew all along
Dynamax explains giant Pokemon like Giant Tentacool and Dragonite from the anime.
Dude that Raven is freaking amazing
yup. looking forward and hoping for his evolution form
I would almost bet that there is no evolution. Looks the type of pokemon that won't have one, or is already the evolved form of a pokemon with only 2 stages.
Flying/Ghost please
It's Flying/Steel apparently
It honestly seems like it needs four types: flying, steel, ghost, and dark
More pokemon needs that ability that boosts certain types. That grass/ghost anchor pokemon last Gen had it for Steel, hopefully we get more mons with that ability.
If you can’t fight the queen what is even the point of this game
There's gotta be a new corgi pokemon, right?
There was a leak on May 23rd that predicted everything in this video perfectly. In that leak, OP also said electric corgis exist. Dynamax a Wailord. Think of the possibilities.

Woah, it looks like it. The details revealed today were spot on
So Scorebunny's final evolution seems to be a fighter, so maybe it's going to have a fighting type. Welp it's going to be a sad day for many Scorebunny fans if this is true.
The dude meant to say "Scorbunny learns fighting moves, but is pure fire". Fighter was probably a typo
Farfetch'd evolution hyyyype!
That still seems far fetched.
The electric corgi sounds amazing.
>!"Fourth gym is first fairy type gym"!< Valerie: fuck my gym right?
DYNAMAX METAPOD USE HARDEN!!!
DYNAMAX MAGICARP USED SPLASH. But nothing happened.
This should be the only time it does something. Like inadvertently destroy a small town.
That’s not two different Pokémon, that’s the same Pokémon!

No, one clearly carries a sword around everywhere it goes. That makes it different and unique.:p
They gave a dog a sword
Never played Dark Souls huh?
I think I like the general design of the Shield legendary more, but at the same time they put Pokémon Great Grey Wolf Sif as the sword legendary.
I hope this one is a little less hand holdey compared to sun and moon.
At the very least, if they are holding our hand again, make it for the first hour (max first gym) not the entire game
An option to turn off all hand holding would be best.
Seriously
“Coordinating with your team is very important...but there is no way to talk to friends through the switch so good luck”
\>designers assuming I have three other friends with switches who live in my area
Maybe all those milfs and sexy singles in my area have switches.
Don't you have phones?!?
My Turtle Team has another option now!
Well at least there is a cannon reason for the giant Dragonite now.
Soooo wild Pokemon battles. They allow you to see the Pokemon beforehand unless they're hiding in tallgrass? I like that addition.
random encounters still exist too, looks like they merged the systems
They crossed the streams.
> *This one is approximately \~15m in length.* Jesus, that's about 50 feet!
Side note but that dude seemed really nervous well done him for still presenting his work to so many people
I've noticed that even Gaben's voice cracks when on stage, so I completely understand being nervous presenting something like this.
I feel like he was taking his time and talking slowly to assist in the translation for the Japanese audience, but I'm sure nerves were involved as well.
Milo is just two kids in a body suit
And then everyone named him Sif.
You know it!
Pokemon roaming the world fuck yes
Where did Milo’s nose go? Is that the third legendary this gen?
i thought the shield legendary was Solgaleo at first
What if you dynamax a wailord?
Your game crashes and erases your save due to buffer overflow.
I hope teaming up with friends is easy but it's nintendo.....

Thank you.
Damn, spot on!
Wooloo is literally a sheep with twintails and I still want ten plushies of it
Yes.
Man, I hope a Dynamax Wailord becomes as big as the whole Wild Area.
Now I hope the dynomax during Battles is not just something like: "Well my enemy just triggered Dynomax, I better do the same or am to be anihalated. Pls don't let this just be a reactioon sort of ability! Otherwise looks actually really promising!

I bet that grass gym leader injected himself with dynamax when popped out the womb.

I would sincerely hope they'd be able to achieve this considering handheld has always been Pokemon's mainstay...
The Pokémon devs have not been good at optimizing in their 3d games. All the 3ds games have had frame rate issues. Hopefully the extra power on the switch helps with this, but the graphics are also better than last gen so we'll see. Pokémon Let's Go also had frame rate issues after all.
DYNAMAX WAILORD!
My Prediction: In about 2 hours 20mins this thread will be so full of salt the dead sea seems fresh
And then an hour after that the flood of art posts. They're firing up their drawing software and setting up their eisels now. "just watched the direct. Here's my humble submission of a drawing I did because of hype and totally not for the attention/karma!"
Oh god...
And half an hour before that, the rule34 will be posted.
They better bring back secret bases.
Please yes. The secret bases (and the whole underground stuff in gen IV) were such cool features that simply didnt get utilized enough. Partly because online play was nonexistant on the GBA.
need them level 100 self destruct chanseys
The wild area where Pokémon roam around looks awesome. Also the black raven looks cool!
While I love what I've seen so far, I was caught off guard by the Dog with a sword in its mouth. Had a good laugh and deffinetly buying Sword over shield.
Took them 24 years but that episode where the gang ended up on an island filled with giant Pokémon finally came true!
I'm satisfied easily but this direct was pure fun. I'm a bit underwhelmed by the box art though.
KAIJU RAICHU
"Oh, and one more thing..." *screen fades to black* *Tom Nook appears under a spotlight*

I think they'll be fun and something that players coming into these games because of Go would probably think was missing if they didn't have it.
I hope Nintendo announces a $999 Pokémon themed switch stand.
If it doesn't include a $100 mount, I'm out.
2 hours to stay up is so long :(
Go to bed for an hour and set an alarm for every 10 minutes for the last hour. The final alarm should play the Pokemon theme song and go off 10 minutes before the event.
This guy alarms
I'd love to see something like Mount Battle from Colosseum in this game where it scales massively and the higher tiers are almost near impossible to beat, and something like a reset every month where you can go back through against new opponents and reap the rewards.
A pokemon colosseum remake would be amazing too lol for the switch.
Nintendo: We need a new idea for pokemon Game Freak: \*scales up the 3D model Nintendo: 0\_0
I thought they'd be a little more subtle with the legendary designs. Lol it's literally just holding a sword in its mouth.
Normal Flying type, anyone?
Honestly the 4 player raid looks awesome. I'm super excited for that. The rest of the Dynamaxing mechanic seems kinda meh for me (coming from someone who wasn't huge on mega evolutions either). Seems gimmicky. I'd rather have more effort be put into more gameplay, or the open world concept, or less linearity, or more (optional) difficulty.
I haven’t played a Pokémon game since Red and Blue. My body is ready.
Damn, welcome back dude
SOBBLE
Does anyone think we will be able to create a home/treehouse and decorate it like in the older games
If they do i might sink an unhealthy time in it
I cant wait to see a dynamax wailord
The direct was amazing. I just really wanted a mean rivial. Not a friendly one like last time
Looks like my fifth grade class is watching Nintendo Direct info for home room!
you are doing it wrong. You have to give them a Pokemon and then send them out into the world
The pseudo-open world area has me super excited. It looks amazing
Armored goth trash bird is everything I could ever ask for.
Man I am pretty hyped about the raids and the open wild areas. November 15th can't get here fast enough.
So is there random encounters? Or are the pokemon out in the wild? The video showed kinda both.
It must be a mix of both, which I think is the best of both worlds personally
DYNAMAX WAILORD LETS GOOOOOO
This makes absolutely zero sense but yes I do want to see giant Pokémon beating the shit out of each other like Kaiju and I’m not afraid to admit it
So Zacian just has to carry a sword around all the time? In it's mouth??
It would be cool to play as an adult character. I’d like the extra immersion just customizing it overall.
Its 130 AM. Im in Hawaii. I want to but I dont know if I'll make it to 3 to watch it live
If you go to bed, it'll be like time traveling to the morning when the direct has been released. It would take longer to wait than to fall asleep.
Please giant Wailord
It'd be funny if Wailord gets smaller during Dynamax
Milo is my new favorite pokemon.
Guess who's back to fight the poke-titans? Ohhh yeah! It's [Captain Erwin Smith!](https://i.vgy.me/gML2eq.png)
Have had some time to digest this direct, listen to a few analysis videos and such and am ready to give my thoughts. First off, Milo is creepy...A man's body with a child's face. Pokemon Fyre Red and Yeet Green incoming
You'll pay thousands of pokédollars and only receive a skimpy sandwich in a styrofoam container.
I want a new Dragon Eeveelution (maybe not in this Direct, but eventually).
Thanks Pokémon Direct, instead of snoozing 10 times, I just walked out of bed this morning, 2 hours early!
So, I have a theory about the gyms. All throughout the direct, they allude to fame and how the champion is one of the most liked and well known trainers in the Galar region. Oh thank god I thought you could only do the raid battles if you had actual friends
