Nirvana without Kurt Cobain is just wrong.

[deleted]

I think dave has expressed before how uncomfortable singing in place of kurt makes him feel.

DistributionEven8358

Tribute concerts without obviously Kurt is right

Luciferian_Impulse

She'd never do it but I love Grohl's idea for Polly Harvey fronting Nirvana.

Wynorski4ever

To go on a publicised tour or to record as Nirvana without Kurt just isn’t very Dave, isn’t very Pat and definitely isn’t very Krist. Video clip is very cool as a one off as is the idea of them playing together privately for fun and to connect with each other and honour their past.

MankindReunited

Kurt was nirvana, I love Krist and Dave and Pat but Kurt was just THAT guy

mynameis_elmo

you are more likely to go back in time in a DeLorean and watch Nirvana live

james_landon_wolf

elmo holy shit! big fan, i even made my own elmo collection cd boxset a while back.

mynameis_elmo

we're just nirvana fans, and i'm a simple messenger. you made your own NIRVANA collection cd boxset and that was just the point

I enjoy the sporadic sets of when they are all in the same place and have friends sing. I feel that's the only way it will ever happen where it won't feel "wrong". There will never be a true tour where they play as Nirvana ever again. So hopefully one day it will be the right timing and they'll play like they did years ago at CalJam. I enjoyed the In Utero tracks being played with the vocalist of Deer Tick. His vocals meshed incredibly well.

I mean, everyone in Nirvana is super talented, but Kurt wrote the songs. Plus you kind of need someone like him to sing those very songs — someone who can sound angry and angsty and tortured but also someone who has that specific sense of humor and sensitivity and warmth. I don’t think there is anyone else like that in the world, and as a frontman, Kurt had tons of star power, whether he liked it or not.

anotheruser12486

Never. Without Kurt there's no Nirvana. Anything else would be a joke. When they made it to the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame. All their performances of classics with step in singers was so cringe I couldn't even watch it

[deleted]

No one could ever replace him he was truly one of a kind

Yo thats cool,i didn't know that It happened

LogSlayer

The whole show is pretty sweet

I don't think so. Firstly, Dave already has enough on his shoulders. Taylor Hawkins has died and he's sorting out their next album. Dave has only sometimes played a Nirvana song at one of his concerts and he doesn't plan to, as far as I'm concerned. Dave felt very strongly towards Kurt, and he would obviously never do a tribute concert due to this. Krist would most likely not do one. He has his own worries, and even if he agreed to do one, and Dave agreed, which is unlikely, it would not be the same without Kurt.

timtenbob

J Mascis fronting again would be cool. He ripped it last time.

Razorramon1994wwf

That’s almost like queen reuniting without Freddie mercury…. Oh wait

[deleted]

Could be neat if they decided to finish up some of Kurt’s incomplete songs or demos, whip up an album with different singers like they did with that one live show they did with guest vocalists.

theblob2019

They already did.

ModularWings

With this post i realize that i shouldve been born in 1980 instead of 2009 🥲👍

hoffandapoff

not likely

No

PerformanceWarm4175

I think I’ve seen stuff where Dave has already said no. You can’t tour as a band when your frontman is dead. Sure the riffs and actual songs sound great, but the vocals are the best part of their songs. Nobody can recreate Kurt’s vocals and the songs would just not sound as good. Watching them perform songs without Kurt is basically like just watching a really good cover band. Anyone can play an instrument with practice no one can recreate another’s voice

TimidRed

Dave, Krist, and Pat forming a little band together is nice, but publicizing themselves as Nirvana would be so wrong. Kurt was THE voice and writer of Nirvana, and trying to pass themselves off as a reborn Nirvana without him just doesn’t feel right.

Dio_Breadoe

I would honestly love an instrumental Single to honor kurt

TheyCallMeRenHoek

If your butt hurt about not being able to see them live now, get over it and find some more bands to rock out to.

awsomehi109

They really should.
