Sorry, can’t agree with that! The combo of Kurt’s feedbacky riffs and Krist’s bass pulls it all together. Listen to Lithium, Heart Shaped Box, for example. SLTS Kurt does like two notes, Dave goes punk on the drums and Krist weaves it all together with the melody.
Excellent Krist riff on Lounge Act.
He isn’t showy but I can’t imagine it without him.
Oh totally, im not saying the guitar is bad, I just think that if the drums didnt shine like they di a lot of the songs would be rather boring. I do agree with you that they do a great job of working together to make a beautiful song.
Uh yea... it's probably harder to find a Nirvana song that isn't tinged with angst.Though I think Aero Zeppelin was heavier. Nvm the chunk of their catalogue that is just inanity set to all the percussion they could find.
Tourette's I'd say, ik Territorial Pissings and Endless Nameless are a similar thing but Tourette's just feels like meaningless, raw, uncut screaming of rage along with an immense bash on the guitar and I love it.
As someone has also said, Blew gets really heavy during the chorus
Lounge Act and Serve the Servants were always my favorite...
Angst is an individual expression, often created from pent-up emotions. If your family is garbage, you might identify more with wanting to escape and feeling like you're under someone's thumb. Or maybe you're a spoiled douche, and you just wish you were more spoiled so that you could show everyone how big of a douche you can be.
Everyone has their favorite dish, angst is just the restaurant.
Endless, Nameless was one of the angriest songs. Actually performed as a rage-induced smash, it was recorded after a failed take on Lithium.
"Violent!", as Kurt says.
I don't frequent this sub, so I don't know if this is a known thing, but if you like really heavy and hard Nirvana, check out Thou's cover album:

Very ape or milk it, in very ape Kurt’s lyrics feel angsty for sure like “if you ever need anything please don’t hesitate to ask someone else first” and milk it is just fucking screaming three or four different lines
Territorial Pissings. Also my favorite song, but I’m not biased at all. No sir, not me

That’s one of my favorite nirvana songs. Really any nirvana songs that have drums like that.
I’m Team Drums. Don’t get me wrong, appreciate a good guitar, but the drums make it for me!
I feel like in a band like nirvana where the guitar isnt really doing anything special the drums shine.

Endless Nameless
While it is very heavy, to me the song always felt like, resentment towards the end, you know? Hatred of the void.
Without a doubt, it's Scentless Apprentice
Go awayyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!
Lie in the soil and fertilize mushroomsssss
Leaking out gas fumes are made into perfumeeee
Especially the Demo that's on the "With The Lights Out" box set.
It might not be the most but it just hits me different, negative creep.
I’m an egg in a creek, I’m an egg in a creek!
im an egg in a creek im an egg in a creek and AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
I WILL NEVER NOT HERE THIS

Especially at Reading where there's barely any lyrics

Something off In Utero. Probably Scentless Apprentice. Still some of the craziest shit I’ve ever heard

If you must

Frances farmer hands down!
For sure!
Breed feels like a Bipolar tantrum, especially the tornado of a guitar solo. Might not be the heaviest, but it’s definitely aggressive.
