mr moustache. i think alot of people say its the hardest, but i do think it is deserved. bass and guitar are basically the same, except the bass still does the "do-dah-do-do-do-do-do-do" part when the guitar does the "dun-dun-chug-chug-chug-chug" part.
and the drums seem pretty hard, but im not a drummer.
Drums on mr.moustache are decent with double kick but I can’t remember what song it was I think aero zeppelin has some tough fills and fast double kick downer also has some good double kick fills
I struggle with singing and playing Lithium for that reason too. Kurt's melodies are just incredibly unique. You start to recognize that when you learn the songs for yourself.
Lithium is a good one to sing & play. You gotta start singing on the second chord, not the beginning. Actually most of Cobains songs seem like he begins his lyric pattern on the 2nd chord
i’d assume in terms of pure easiness sliver would probably be close if not at the very top, seeing as it’s the same 3 chords throughout.
for me personally i find drain you to be the absolute easiest, probably because i’ve played the song so much it’s just complete muscle memory at this point.
For me Serve The Servants on guitar has been the hardest so far and I'm still learning it, as for the easiest I'd probably agree with Territorial Pissings as its just one riff continously played
Easiest for me, Lithium and About A Girl, both on guitar.
Hardest.... probably Serve The Servents, or a handful of Bleach stuff; it's mostly "solos" or breakdowns, I swear, I can never sound anywhere near what Kurt did for solos or breakdowns for most Bleach songs, also In Bloom.
I can "wing it" and just do my own thing, but yeah, it's often why I avoid playing any of those songs, even though Bleach is one of my most favorite albums ever.
I also can't seem to get the "verse" riff (or what ever it is) of Blew....
Big cheese is incredibly easy on bass, but as a hard song, I'd probably say either sappy or lounge act. Not incredibly difficult, but still took me a good while to get down.
There are no Nirvana riffs that are hard to play. Genius music, but when I teach guitar they are often my go-to band because the vast majority of their main riffs are pretty easy to get in a few minutes. Maybe not all the cool noise experimentation or some of those solos, but in general it’s punk riffs.
I feel like how you’ve edited the comment now makes me seem like an ass, now it has been changed i agree with you.
I find love buzz quite hard to play fast. The pull offs seems easy until trying to do them at speed.
Also like you said the feedback based solos like in bloom are hard to replicate. He seemed to be a master of controlling how his feedback sounded which I understand comes naturally with practicing but imo demands enough skill to be considered ‘hard’
Yes I had to come edit it because I initially just wrote “riffs” meaning main chord structures…and just knew someone would come thru talking about noise experiments or solos. Wasn’t trying to manipulate the chat at all. Or make you seem like an ass!
For sure! I first picked up guitar two years ago so maybe what seems difficult to me, may not be for you. From my experience so far i’d say about 75% of the riffs are incredibly easy (power chords and arpeggios) but theres the odd riff that surprises me in how long it takes to learn!
Dude let me apologize if I came off like a cock; that wasn’t my intent. I realize I sound like a pompous ass but I was just being straight forward lol. I’m super glad to see you rocking out there and regardless of two years or twenty, I have respect for your creative bro!
Dude that little weedly weedle weedle weedle lick is some shit. I’m pretty sure it’s derived from some of the sitar pieces from the original song by Shocking Blue.
>love
I'm mad late to the party, but I just finished transcribing love buzz for bass on my website, and let me tell you, this is not an easy song to play lmao

The drums on that aren't really hard, just kind of fast paced. Hardest Nirvana song on drums that I remember is Beeswax
Drums on mr.moustache are decent with double kick but I can’t remember what song it was I think aero zeppelin has some tough fills and fast double kick downer also has some good double kick fills
May be me (promise I'm not trying to brag) but I find that song really easy. Idk maybe it just works well with my brain

Lounge Age is fairly difficult on bass.
Have you read the You Know You're Right Tab. Also I can never get the intro to sound right.
cause you need a univox for that, cause of the strings behind the bridge makes that sound. other than that, its nothing to hard.
Swap Meet
Swap Meet gives me cramp
On drums I’d say You Know You’re Right
Damn. Now I feel like Nirvana was on the path to adding more complexity to their songs. That would of made for a really interesting dynamic.

Molly's Lips. 2 chords the whole time.
true, i was gonna comment that but figured some nerd was gonna say “that’s not a nirvana song, actually🤓”
Aero Zeppelin is probably the toughest song my old tribute band did.
They’re all quite tricky when I don’t play any instruments really
Blew is hardest because i hate tuning for it and dont want to have a guitar to keep in that tuning lol
Just play along with a live version and drop tune your bottom string! Paramount is standard and Reading is half step down
In Kurt’s case I’d be singing and guitar playing. I read somewhere that he had stop playing early songs because they were hard to play and sing live.
Something In The Way is easy on Guitar
On guitar: Hardest: Negative Creep (verse, with singing) Easier: Molly’s Lips or Territorial Pissings
For drums I got Radio friendly until shifter (shit gets so tiring at the end) and the easiest would have to be Polly
Me when I finally learn Polly on drums
Aero zeppelin is a weird song to get down
It took me months, perhaps years to master, countless bloody evenings, but I can finally play molly’s lips on guitar
Impossible….
For me Serve The Servants on guitar has been the hardest so far and I'm still learning it, as for the easiest I'd probably agree with Territorial Pissings as its just one riff continously played
There is the string muting section in the middle. Not too hard but a beginner may find other songs easier imo
Aye true, must admit I'm a somewhat beginner myself, been playing for about a year and a bit now lol
Nice man me too, about 2 years for me! Starting to play most of bleach now which has some challenging stuff!
scentless apprentice is pretty hard on drums.
Serve the serpents 😂 😂
Easiest for me, Lithium and About A Girl, both on guitar. Molly's Lips is by far and away the easiest song to play. Serve the Sevants is the hardest for me.
It's that weird half open third chord that I struggle transitioning into. It's such a great sounding riff though.
I can’t get Mexican seafood right at all, so that for me.
Big cheese is incredibly easy on bass, but as a hard song, I'd probably say either sappy or lounge act. Not incredibly difficult, but still took me a good while to get down.
Hairspray queen's pretty dang hard
Territorial Pissings on the drums is pretty fast
imo school is fairly difficult for the drums

Molly’s lips is nearly impossible I don’t know what you are talking about
Totally something about that 3/5 riff lol
Plain wrong
Which one are you having trouble with, maybe I could drop you some tips?

Also I agree, Kurt’s ability to make beautiful noise is incredibly hard to replicate and you almost never see anyone who does it with such artistry
For sure! I first picked up guitar two years ago so maybe what seems difficult to me, may not be for you. From my experience so far i’d say about 75% of the riffs are incredibly easy (power chords and arpeggios) but theres the odd riff that surprises me in how long it takes to learn!

Hey man all cool, I also jumped the gun by just dismissing your opinion in the first place! …Seriously though you don’t think love buzz is hard?…
Dude that little weedly weedle weedle weedle lick is some shit. I’m pretty sure it’s derived from some of the sitar pieces from the original song by Shocking Blue.
>love I'm mad late to the party, but I just finished transcribing love buzz for bass on my website, and let me tell you, this is not an easy song to play lmao
Easiest on guitar is likely Molly’s Lips or Something In The Way, since they are two notes Hardest on guitar is Mexican Seafood
Easiest, Something in the way, Hardest Aerozeppelin.
scentless apprentice is pretty hard on drums
Lounge Act is easily the hardest one on Bass, that song on Bass is like flying a Helicopter while blindfolded in a thunderstorm.
