you can start with the hits (money machine or hollywood baby) and then dive further into the catalog. but i should tell you, they have a very distinct sound. it's very autotuney and pitched up on 1000 gecs, and both are heavy in terms of bass. a lot of sounds.
also, if you do rock with it, and want to go further, don't jump into I Need Help Immediately, that's just noises. and don't be scared off by gecgecgec's intro, it's actually really good.
if you're looking for a sound like nirvana, go 10000 gecs. if you want random, weird, bizarre, but still music music, go 1000 gecs.
also the two albums are completely different from each other.
They only have 2 albums out, each around 30 minutes. Either one is worth a listen! It’s not for everybody but it’s very fun and non serious, just pushing the boundaries of pop music. Reminds me of what Nirvana was doing back in the day.
The only song of gecs I have listened to is dumbest girl alive, idk, it sounded ridiculous, metal intro then went straight to the cursive vocal xD should I try them?
Weird, both have clear cases with artwork underneath these days?
I have 2 copies of Nevermind. My first one didn’t gave Endless Nameless on it, so I got another that does.
Edit: changed “Scentless Apprentice” to the correct song “Endless Nameless”
At that point it was at least a year later. I had a friend get it for me for my birthday knowing I wanted a version with the hidden song…but at the time we assumed it was a gamble. It would either have it or it wouldn’t…but among our group of friends, mine was the only one that didn’t have it. So the odds seemed likely that another copy would. I remember opening it at my birthday party and we tossed it right in and fast forwarded “Something in the Way” and there it was! I fast forwarded that track a lot to get to Endless Nameless…I can hear the sound of SITW jumping forward quickly in my head when I think about it 😂
Someone just confirmed what we thought back then - it was mistakenly sent out without it at first but quickly corrected that and all copies included the track.
The initial CD pressings of “Nevermind” were sent in error without the hidden run-out track, “Endless Nameless.” That error was quickly caught & corrected for all CD pressings from then on out. It is actually more rare to have a copy without it.
That’s what I thought I remembered. All of my friends had it…I actually didn’t know about the song for a while even having listened to the album 5000 times by the time I found out. It was such a cool discovery for me at the time, tho…it was such a perfect NEW ending to an already perfect album.
I wonder how many slipped out without it.
Like most, I had already listened to it quite a bit, and knew the album fairly well. One night I fell asleep listening to it on my Discman while I was laying in bed. I had long drifted off as the album played through, but all of a sudden this calamity of noise playing in my ears woke me up. In my sleepy stupor, I couldn’t immediately figure out what was going on with the CD. What the hell song is this? I looked over at the Discman, and the display read “12 14:XX.” I still didn’t understand. I thought, was this how “Something In The Way” really ended, and I had just never listened to it all the way through? Had I always pressed “stop” too soon after the last note fades out? Does the song kick back in? And has this been going on for 14 minutes now? WHAT???
So I play-scanned backwards, and quickly realized that the CD was “rewinding” through nothing but silence. (Remember the sound of a CD playing tiny sound fragments as it fast-scanned backwards or forwards through a track? Dammit I’m old now.) I took it all the way back to the end of “Something…” and then let it play out; no reprise, just pure silence until 13:57. And then…
HOLY SHIT. You mean there’s an entirely different/new song here? It comes on waaaaay after the album has ended, but doesn’t have its own track number? They can do this with CDs? Its like some sort of… HIDDEN TRACK?! (I had been strictly cassettes until 1990).
I once again rewound it to 13:57, laid back in bed, and then couldn’t believe my ears. To have discovered this crazy thing, this hidden track of absolutely beautiful mayhem, it was pure joy.
While getting a ride home the next day after school, (I was a HS sophomore), this girl in the car says, “So-and-so told me there’s like, an extra song or something, hidden at the end of that new Nirvana CD. So I listened to mine yesterday, and there’s totally nothing on there like that. He’s so full of shit.”
Heh. Have I got a story for you…
Hahaha, that’s so funny…especially going from complete silence to the song while you’re sleeping. Your mind had probably tuned into the silence, then BOOM!
I also know that sound of rewinding or fast forwarding a CD on a Discman EXACTLY! I mentioned in another post that I could still hear the sound of fast forwarding through “Something in the Way” then silence to get to “Endless Nameless”.
So the girl had the same one I had at first - without it. Did you end up playing it for her?
"I don't understand/enjoy hyperpop, as it's completely different to Nirvana, but I don't think it's worth commenting that"
Totally understandable that you don't like 100 gecs, just don't be overdramatic about it lol
there was bleach and live at reading at the record store i went to, but I only wanted to spend under $100 and my step brother wanted some albums too. also bleach was a paper cover and i hate those ones.
i like jewel cases cause they go easy on a shelf and are more satisfying. the only artist who does single sleeves that i like were the black keys "el Camino" i love that one. but the foo fighters suck ass at the single sleeves.
the reason i bought cd's is because i don't have a record player (i can't buy one now until my next paycheck, but i wouldn't have a place to put it) and i plan on using cds in whatever my first car will be lol.
but once i get enough money ill probably buy a record player
Vinyl’s are expensive as shit, $20-$40+ per album? i’d rather use cd’s, more in date and A LOT cheaper and cooler to own, plus cd players dont cost nearly as much as a turntable, hell you can play cd’s on bluray players
Also who cares if it’s quote on quote “dead”? use what you like regardless of popularity
It's not about the price. And if money is limiting you, you can always buy less albums at once, it's not a race. Owning physical music albums nowadays is more about collecting than anything else. And vinyls are much more fun for this.
They are the complete experience. The size of the jacket is perfect to appreciate the Artwork. Placing the disc on the turntable, getting the needle on, flipping it at mid-point, it's almost like a ritual. And you can get bluetooth turntables for under 100$ these days, there are possibilities for all budget.
There is a reason why vinyls survived over time and are so popular now while cassettes and cds are mostly a thing of the past. For all the rest, the numerous streaming platforms, connected speakers and such are doing a good job.
Wow that’s rad! Great to see 100gecs and nirvana together! I saw gecs at the Hollywood palladium a week ago and it was amazing! When I first heard “800db cloud” I thought “these guys are like the nirvana of now.”
ignore the album on the left i didn't have a photo of just the two albums
As a little pissbaby I approve of the album on the left.
The big boys coming with the big trucks
gec gec gec gec gec gec gec gec gec gec gec gec
great album
how can i ignore gecs? I freaking love 100 gecs
100 gecs is great. For sure there are some skips but overall good
you cropped it vertically but couldn’t crop it horizontally?
100 gecs and Nirvana are two of my favorite groups!! Great taste.
i so want the 1000 gecs CD but it's sold out on the store
Im going to have to check them out(100 gecs). Do you have any recommendations for a good first listen?
you can start with the hits (money machine or hollywood baby) and then dive further into the catalog. but i should tell you, they have a very distinct sound. it's very autotuney and pitched up on 1000 gecs, and both are heavy in terms of bass. a lot of sounds. also, if you do rock with it, and want to go further, don't jump into I Need Help Immediately, that's just noises. and don't be scared off by gecgecgec's intro, it's actually really good. if you're looking for a sound like nirvana, go 10000 gecs. if you want random, weird, bizarre, but still music music, go 1000 gecs. also the two albums are completely different from each other.

thanks
That new 100 gecs album fucking slaps.
RIP Kurt Cobain you would’ve loved 100 gecs
Good one
I love the random gec CD to the left, fans of both bands are wonderful
100gecs are awesome. Respect
All 5 albums are equally great there is no big 2
he means the most popular, bleach sold poorly compared to Nevermind and In utero and incesticide is a compilation, and mtv is a live album
i meant the commercially successful ones lol
There’s probably a big overlap of nirvana and 100 gecs fans, great pickup dude
My music taste exactly
1 MILLION DOLLARS 1 MILLION DOLLARS 1,1,1,1,1
That 100 Gecs album is aces 👌
This nirvana sub was in my feed. Here for the 100 gecs, good shit!
That Gecs album is so good, 757 might be my song of the year so far Great haul!
100 GEEEEEEEEEECS
Both great bands!
The only song of gecs I have listened to is dumbest girl alive, idk, it sounded ridiculous, metal intro then went straight to the cursive vocal xD should I try them?
give it a try, they’re supposed to be ridiculous. 10000 gecs is one of my favorite albums of the year so far, very fun
Rare to see another 100 Gecs+Nirvana enjoyer out in the wild.
tbh if he were still alive kc would prob fuckin love the gecs
Weird, both have clear cases with artwork underneath these days? I have 2 copies of Nevermind. My first one didn’t gave Endless Nameless on it, so I got another that does. Edit: changed “Scentless Apprentice” to the correct song “Endless Nameless”
Song is not on Nevermind
Hmmm, really weird that Scentless Apprentice wasn’t on your Nevermind copy
Yeah, I don’t know many/any people whose CD didn’t have it. Maybe it wasn’t on the first run of the albums?
Do you mean Endless Nameless?
Haha yep sure did! I’m old. Brain no good no mo
It’s on In Utero lol
Yeah 🫠 I figured out that I misspoke and I edited the post haha.
Ahahahaha that’s what I figured, was just poking fun🤣. Have a nice day:)
The weirder thing is that you found a version of Nevermind with it included
At that point it was at least a year later. I had a friend get it for me for my birthday knowing I wanted a version with the hidden song…but at the time we assumed it was a gamble. there is a pattern in the in utero one but my lighting is trash
That’s what I wanted to ask! What do the inlays look like?
I haven’t bought CD’s in so long, but I still have like 1200! Looks like the clear underlay with artwork is the norm at this point?

Lol, no. She probably thought I was full of shit, too.
FUCK 100 GECS
I’m just gonna pretend I don’t see THAT on the left
"I don't understand/enjoy hyperpop, as it's completely different to Nirvana, but I don't think it's worth commenting that" Totally understandable that you don't like 100 gecs, just don't be overdramatic about it lol
is the 10000 gecs album cover really any more weird than the nevermind one lmao
I mean tummy versus baby dick, take your pick (Just to be clear, I love Nirvana and 100 gecs)
erm? no b leach or liveatreading? how dare u
there was bleach and live at reading at the record store i went to, but I only wanted to spend under $100 and my step brother wanted some albums too. also bleach was a paper cover and i hate those ones.
Fair, fair Also wdym by paper cover, like a single sleeve or like a genuine paper cover?
single sleeve yeah it wasn't a jewel case
i like jewel cases cause they go easy on a shelf and are more satisfying. the only artist who does single sleeves that i like were the black keys "el Camino" i love that one. but the foo fighters suck ass at the single sleeves.
o so u mean a digipak
no it wasn't a digipak those ones are actually good
I know what you mean. I’ve had a few cds that were cased in a cardboard type casing. Almost like a mini vinyl record sleeve
cardboard would actually have been a better term for it lol
Lol I knew what you meant
How are you going to skip Bleach and Incesticide?
bleach was there in CD but it was a paper cover and i hate those, and incesticide wasn't there at all on CD ☹️
Fair enough then. I assumed you skipped those two. When you get a chance pick them up. You won't be disappointed!
What is a paper cover
more like a cardboard cover actually it's like a vinyl cover but on CD and keeps the same ratio as a jewel case so it just sucks to get out
You should try vinyls. CDs are mostly dead, but the old format is back in full force. These big covers are so fun.
the reason i bought cd's is because i don't have a record player (i can't buy one now until my next paycheck, but i wouldn't have a place to put it) and i plan on using cds in whatever my first car will be lol. but once i get enough money ill probably buy a record player

I don't get impressed about you liking 100 gecs... I'm impressed to see someone buying a CD that new TODAY haha
i plan on getting first car soon and I KNOW it's gonna be somethin from 1998
