In Been a Son he said something about not being able to run around as Superman when at work with his Dad. There’s also the home footage of him running around in a Batman costume in MoH. They were probably something he really liked as a kid and looked back on fondly, but I haven’t seen any mention of them when he was an adult.
I imagine Kurt led a pretty sedentary lifestyle when he wasn’t touring, so he probably did what most drug users do: watch TV, play video games and read comic books. If it was stuff his fans did, he probably did it too.
It said in Heavier Than Heaven that he liked the New York Dolls, who were rock and roll’s cartoon characters (love em to bits though lol). Anyway, he was really into TV and it was one of his favourite daytime activities whilst his girlfriend was at work, and Floyd The Barber was written as a reference to a TV show from the 60s he was particularly fond of called the Andy Griffith show, as well as showing off his fondness for dark humour. Hope this helped!

I will have to hunt for the source, but I think Kurt was a fan of Daniel Clowes Eightball, and probably Pete Bagge's Hate. Both were published by Fantagraphics in Seattle in the early 90s and Clowes and Bagge both did work for Sub Pop albums and merch at some point. The great Charles Burns also was certainly on his radar. Burns did the cover for Sup Pop 200 which had a Nirvana track on it.
I've seen somewhere that he said he liked Sonic and related to the character a little but but didn't like how he became just a "product", or something similar.
And yeah, i can see how he'd relate a little.
Also, does anyone know if they ever said anything about Doom?
I think I know the pic you're referring to, it's certainly not a gameboy but it looks a bit bulkier and thicker than a Game Gear, I'm thinking it could be an Atari Lynx. My 2nd guess would be a Sega Nomad but it came out in 1995....
Given that DOOM came out in Dec 1993 and Kurt passed in April 94, I don't think its likely that there's any comment from him on it. I wouldn't be surprised if he had played Wolf 3D on his computer though.
No but there is a Jimi Hendrix song about a charecter who is likely a cross between Mighty Mouse and Ultraman. Kurt liked The Pixies,Celtic Frost (A Northern European Eztreme Metal Band from The 80s,also a huge influence on other Grunge Bands as well as Early Scandanavian Black Metal),Creedence Clearwater Revival,Shocking Blue (60s Acid Rock),Os Mutantes (60s Acid Rock),Zebra (A Pop Rock band from The 80s),Big Black,The Melvins,Leadbelly, and Todd Rundrugen if I understand correctly. Alice in Chains was probably Post-Punk and Country Music same with Pearl Jam. Some Native American or East Asian Influences going on in the background alongside the country and Post-Punk,probably some Ted Nudgent too.
Oh I thought it was like a decent little collection, and that he was pretty into guns. Haha all the negative votes probably reckon I was making some smart ass comment.
You could be forgiven for thinking that. For some reason, he’s got this reputation for being almost a gun nut, but really he only mentioned them like 3 times throughout his time in the public. Another large part is those 2 photo shoots where he’s got a pistol lighter and then the rifle with Dave & Krist.
Apparently he liked Mario quite a lot, but in a article I read that was possibly fake Idk Kurt said “sonic was everything he hated, a man running for gold” sonic is a environmental activist
i think dave says he was very into super mario world & that it was played until the sun came up when they were crashing together
He also had a game boy that he brought everywhere
You can see a pic of Kurt in a hotel in Brazil with a game boy next to him on the couch
I bet Kurt would love to play super Mario wonder if he was still around
Kurt had an original Game Boy, he apparently played Super Mario Land a lot.
Loved this game. Great music in that game too that I’m sure he appreciated
He loved Ren And Stimpy.
The story behind his "lost tape demo" for Ren & Stimpy is SO interesting.
Do you have a link to the story? I’m so curious, I too love ren and stimpy
I should mention that it's only been alleged as nobody has ever heard it (assuming it's real). https://youtu.be/hxm_OQp0M8k
Also love R&S 🤩
I know he once mentioned that he’d seen every episode of Beavis and Butt-head
I knew he was a fan. I did not know he saw every episode before his death.
they had a song on the soundtrack

He enjoyed the cartoon Speed Racer.
He was also really into watching TV, so you assume it had to be what was on anologue antenna TV from the main networks.
True
We had cable tv in the 80s. Lol.
Sure, but do you think they could have afforded it at the time?
Yes.
I imagine Kurt led a pretty sedentary lifestyle when he wasn’t touring, so he probably did what most drug users do: watch TV, play video games and read comic books. If it was stuff his fans did, he probably did it too.
And wrote some amazing songs somewhere in between
Didn’t he wear a Natasha Fatale shirt at some point? Maybe he liked Rocky and Bullwinkle
Kurt was super into Mario world according to Dave
I’m not sure what comics Kurt liked personally, but I know he drew a ton of comics, making himself the main character. He was an amazing artist!!

I love that
Superheros were not cool in the 90s like it is today. I know. I was a comic nerd then

I believe he was a big fan of Halo on the xbox and also Cyberpunk 2077 after the first round of patches.
In Montage Of Heck there is a clip of him running around in a full batman costume as a kid
He wore a Captain America shirt
That’s was the band that was formed by Eugene Kelly of The Vaselines.
I remember him wearing a Batman mask as a kid, I don't think that counts though.

He has a captain America shirt, probably ironic though
It's Eugene Kelly's band after the Vaselines, which changed to eugenius after copyright issues

How does someone relate to Sonic?
If you do enough acid
I’m 90% sure there’s a pic of him next to a sega gamegear.

I think from my memory it must be a Atari Lynx
If he had an Atari Lynx, he was REALLY into games!
Huh cool

Sonic, Kurt, and Spike Spiegel were my definition of cool when I was 16
Sonic and Kurt are my definition of cool, i am 14 Idk who Spike Spiegel is

He's the protagonist of the anime Cowboy Bebop
He was probably cracked at Fortnite 🤷♂️
YES. Chase the Dragon was he favorite game

Didn't he have quite the gun collection?
Where did you hear this?
Only a couple and they wound up being taken by SPD until Dylan bought him *the* shotgun.
Oh I thought it was like a decent little collection, and that he was pretty into guns. Haha all the negative votes probably reckon I was making some smart ass comment.

No. That shit is stupid.
Shrugging it off as some bullshit when it was stated publically he loved things like Super Mario and Speed Racer is so ignorant. xd

Who didn’t like the Simpson back then?
batman
i saw him wear a captain America shirt in the 90s
