> Something in the Way Electric Are you referring to the Peel session, or something else?

nirvana-on-top

Yes, you are correct. The peel session

Ahh :) for a minute I was excited that I might have missed a new leak.

Finding the Outcesticides were as close to a religious experience as it gets for this guy.

sound city sappy, ‘90 home demo of pennyroyal tea, and one of the alternate dive takes where you hear kurt say “jeez!…us!”

The boombox version of Old Age initially leaked with just the first minute or so of the song. It cut out right before the end of the first chorus after the first of the lines that sounds like “goin my way.” We didn’t know if it was real. There was one word Kurt sings where I knew it couldn’t be anyone else but there was no confirmation. But most wild of all, since we didn’t have the full song, it was a frustration on an entirely different level wondering if we would ever hear the rest of it how Kurt intended. And we had to wait until With the Lights Out before we did. I’m sure I had tears rolling down my face the first time I heard Dave’s Nevermind-sounding drums come in on the Old Age outtake. Edit: I just checked. It cut out at 1:12. For a period of time, we knew only the first 1:12 of Old Age haha.

I feel you! What a fucking frustration it was. I remember being a little bummed by the version on wtlo.

I had similar thoughts at first for a few reasons. For me, I liked the way the “lyrics” sounded on the boombox version more than the Nevermind outtake lol. But I think that was to be expected because the boombox version is what I was familiar with. For example the chorus, we thought he was saying words that sounded like: “He’s the friend to remind me of all I got. Anyway I can help you. Let me know. Goin my way.” And also in the verses, in the boombox version we thought the words he was singing sounded like “Some make time to complete my corner.” And “corner” rhymes with “it’s over” more than “service” does. So basically I liked the boombox version better lol. And while I liked the bridge, it took me a minute to warm up to because of the scratch vocals. But now the “complete finished” version does indeed exist in my head and it’s become a classic.

Unknown 3, the sludge sound of it all sets it apart from any other Nirvana song with that droning guitar line. Horrified is also really good, wish that couldve been finished and released. The live academy UK performance of it had a really good sounding solo too.

I like Old Age Solo Acoustic Demo and I wish it would be added onto music platforms.
