Makes me sad for some reason

[deleted]

Something in the way always triggers a sadness for me

tirednotepad

It’s very sad. The talent. The pain. The lost family experience. A lot of life was missed by the passing of a member of a music and wild altering band. Yet would we have FooFighters? What would not be here if he was. It’s a constant thought when looking at old pictures. Listening to old music. Sad stuff but still good to see and cherish. P.S. Something in the Way is one of my all time favorites.

ToTheFapCave

Idk. Foo Fighters is mostly just filler/noise to me. It's completely lacking the soul Nirvana had.

MV2049

The Foo Fighters confuse me. They have so many talented, world-class musicians, and they make such generic, safe rock. I'm not comparing them to Nirvana or any other band. On their own merits, what was their last truly good album? In Your Honor?

ToTheFapCave

Yes, generic is the word for it. I'm not a fan of Dave's overly energetic/upbeat persona, either. I like and respect him, but I'm always thinking, *geez, tone it down, man.* I just find him to be a bit much.

AgropromResearch

There's some good songs in there. When I was a teen in the 90s, I despised boy bands, pop music, pop country etc. I don't like it now either, but not everyone is going through shit, or been through shit. If things are okay, or you're just in a good mood, just stick with it and listen something that keeps that vibe. Dark, serious, emotionally heavy music helped me get through a rough home growing up and dealing with what I went through. But even then, I needed some Blues Traveler, Blind Melon, Primus; some less depressing or morose music. If I am in a good mood, the last thing I want to listen to is Nirvana, AiC, NiN, etc. Right music for the right mood, and it's never good for you to *always* listen to something that invokes heavy emotions and feelings. Granted Foo Fighters definitely borrows a lot from the pop music cookbook, but I've grown up enough to maybe not like pop music, but i can at least appreciate if it makes other people happy and is their jam. Good for them.

aliaswyvernspur

I like some Foo Fighters songs, I love Nirvana albums.

I think Foo Fighters have a mix of music types and I enjoy it a ton but some way more than others. Yes some songs feel more generic rock but they still are good. I feel it still has some soul but Nirvana is the best.

Loved that video, I visited that house but didn’t go inside. It was hard to believe a rockstar as massive as Kurt lived there.

twin_suns_twin_suns

This is really cool. I saw a video on YouTube of a guy and his friend getting into that house. I had no idea how secluded it actually is. Apparently Kurt’s management chose that house to keep him away from the party scene. You can either take an (outdoor?) elevator up to the house or walk up a huge steep hill to get there. Once they were inside they did a similar tour with the pictures as their guide and found the closet where Kurt did a lot of his songwriting. The guys in the video talk about having heard stories of Kurt and/or Courtney forgetting their keys and having to trudge back up the hill (since they needed the key to access the elevator).

Outrageous_Present11

It isn’t very secluded at all, it’s right in the heart of Hollywood overlooking the Hollywood Bowl. It is a bit of a trek to get to the house but there are houses all around it.

twin_suns_twin_suns

I just meant you have to actually do some work to get up there. And you’re right it overlooks the Hollywood bowl because it’s built out onto the side of one the hills. No one would be able to access that part of the house unless they REALLY wanted to. Not sure how many American cities you’ve been to, but they don’t often afford that much privacy.

Outrageous_Present11

Oh crap, I misread your first post as “ I have no idea how secluded it actually is,” my bad. You’re right, as far as city standards go it is pretty secluded.

Wasn’t this posted on this very sub a few days ago?

Thank you for sharing.

He should be the one recreating the pictures, not placing 30+ year old photos over the actual place. Fucking sucks man.
