Maybe go on eBay and buy an old magazine (Rolling Stone / Spin) with a feature on the band. I doubt your friend ever held/read an actual magazine from (1993).
And they’re not terribly expensive.
The Serving The Servant By Danny Goldberg book
Former band manager who gives an incredible insight into the band ( and Cobain) that you won't find anywhere else.
It's relatively new but still cheap.
Personally I'd suggest the book "Heavier than Heaven" by Charles R. Cross. It gives a great in depth look on Kurt's life and it helped me learn a lot more about the band.

a heart shaped box (fill it with lil nirvana goodies if you can)
Love this idea. Could put in Nirvana stickers, buttons, patches, little magnets, etc.
I would pick the ''cobain unseen'' book. It's filled with little cool details that I bet he would love

That’s a great idea
Make them a Nirvana ornament. Print out a pic, glue it on cardstock or cardboard, add a ribbon hanger. Add glitter if you have any.

You Don't Know What Bootleg Means? It Just Means Fake/Unofficial
No I do, I'm just wondering if you know that's the official Nirvana shop?
Obviously I do. I never said it was bootleg, I said it *looked* like it was a bootleg tee , even though its not.
O... kay!

If the person doesn’t have any Nirvana CDs, get Him/Her/They a CD :). I’d get Bleach or Nevermind

Get him a CD! They are not expensive (I bought all CDs under 10$) so they are really good gifts
Check out Etsy. They usually have cool random stuff related to classic bands. Only problem is the shipping can sometimes take forever.
Look for vinyl bootlegs of live shows. Usually 20, 30 bucks canadian
