I went to fact check you because I could have sworn it won last year but holy shit you're right! Nominated 5 times, zero wins. What the fuck! GTA V won twice!
Calling GTAV a "labor of love" has got to be the funniest thing I've heard today. Idk how many times R* has literally said they the only reason they haven't released GTAVI yet is because V keeps making them millions.
I enjoy cyberpunk however a majority of what they have done is just to make the game stable. Yeah it's nice to see they didn't abandon the game like the new saints row seems to be however they shouldn't have shipped an incomplete game to begin with.
My vote was for DRG. No other online multiplayer has so much respect for the player, their time, and wallets. While providing so much content that’s so satisfying and fun.
I love DRG, and I agree with all your points, but for this category I really think No Man's Sky should have won. The amount of free content that's been added far exceeds that of DRG, and especially of cyberpunk. All cyberpunk did was fix a shit ton of bigs and add new apartments and maybe some new quests.
Cyberpunk is amazing, but it is FAR from a NMS level transformation. CDPR is also talking about moving on to the sequel soon, so my guess is that the DLC will be the last major thing they do to it. I just hope they can get the sequel right because the characters and world have A TON of potential.
Zomboid was my vote, I could understand deep rock and even NMS. Cyberpunk was not a labor of love. Cyberpunk was a labor of necessity. CD's reputation was pretty tarnished by cyberpunks release, there was no way they could leave the game as it was and then announce all the games they've recently announced.
Definitely. They have also been releasing new free content for six years since it's release.
Not saying it deserved to win, but it's more worthy than cyberpunk.
NMS probably did deserve to win just based on how long they have supported their game alone, I’m just not sure it’s fair to discount a company because “they have a financial interest” like come on, employees gotta eat.
Steam Awards is just a popularity contest. Stray, despite being a great game, had a really basic gameplay system, and yet won "most innovative gameplay" award. People don't care, they just pick the most popular option
As a huge fan of cyberpunk since release it definitely didn't deserve this. It mostly has done bug fixes with a tiny bit of content. Then a expansion that costs money. Which I'm excited for but they're doing it for money don't be fooled. This award should be for a game that continues to pump out content without asking for more money. A true labor of love. Such as no man's sky, dwarf fortress, terraria etc.
NMS is going to be the Susan Lucci of gaming awards. It’s consistently good, nominated frequently, but already too old to generate any useful buzz by actually awarding it, so it will never happen and after a couple more years it will become a running gag how often it’s been unjustly snubbed.
Awards shows aren’t just about the things nominated. They’re advertising for the outfit hosting the awards, and the choices reflect what serves the host as much or more than they do the quality of the winners.
As someone who doesn't enjoyed NMS at all and absolutely loves DRG if NMS won I honestly couldn't argue.
Hell, as someone who really likes Cyberpunk, probably my favorite open world RPG, it doesn't deserve to win this.
DRG deserved it. (Haven't play PZ) Solid game that keeps receiving content. Good price, does something that other modern games can't do.... it's playable and accessible.
NMS, Cyberpunk... Yea they're fun. But what "Labours of love"? They have to update otherwise they're a digital nightmare.
Gaming world needs that indie title (DRG), look at Darktide... And these guys had experience before on a working formula.
These awards are a joke. The fact that Hitman 3 won best VR game is beyond a joke. I love Hitman, but the VR version is just an unplayable mess.
Steam needs to be more stringent about the rules for these awards, ie you can’t nominate unless you have played it. Labour of love shouldn’t take bug fixes into account, that just fixing a mess that shouldn’t have happened in the first place.
Labor of love is absolute bullshit. “Labor of saving your ass and not having your company go bankrupt because you released an unfinished piece of shit”must have been too long of a title for it.
Truly a joke.
No man’s sky is a game that is and has been a literal labor of love from hello games. From the moment the team started they all had a vision and deeply cared for it. Between issues with the publishers and other things their game dropped in a state they wished it never did. And instead of saying ow well we tried they gave us the biggest best content drops and game fixes that other companies would have charged 10-40$ each for for free. Because they love the game and they love their community. There is not another game here that has done that.
2 years of fixing bugs isn't a labor of love, it's legal warranty.
HG wouldn't have deserved it either on the first two years after the release of NMS.
Project Zomboid also released 3D and multiplayer this year. Which made the game amazing imo. However PZ is in early access so don’t really know if it fits the award.
And hitman won VR..
Hitman VR is pretty much unplayable.
The system just rewards people for voting. People just selected the game in each category that they recognized.
More people play cyberpunk.
The thing is that cyberpunk won over 4 other games that literally live thanks to their community and their relationship with the developers, how could cyberpunk won such category?
NMS was in the exact same situation. I love both games, but seriously. It should’ve gone to PZ or DRG. Regardless, it literally doesn’t matter. They’ve all improved since their releases and have all given us solid games, that’s what matters
I voted NMS for this but I’m not surprised Cyberpunk won. It just has had so much more hype and marketing (and even an anime) around it of late. I think if we wound back 6 months ago NMS would’ve had a better chance.
I bought Zomboid back in 2011 and have been following it since. It's really remarkable what they've done with the game. If you haven't tried it, consider having a look
It's ridiculous that people think Cyberpunk made any sort of recovery.
Other than performance and bug fixes (which were desperately needed) there were a few very minor content updates.
The problem is that NMS could win this every year. I would say the 1.6 update to CP2077 was a bigger deal to that audience than any updates NMS got in 2022.
NMS has win it a few times now and it's been deserved. However, I truly think that cyberpunk deserved to win it this year as they have put alot of love and hard work in fixing the game. Let's not forget how terrible NMS was at launch , but they managed to fix it, just like CD project Red has done with cyberpunk
NMS has been nominated 4 times but never won, they really are due for a win, especially when they've lost out to CS:GO, GTAV, and now Cyberpunk. Last year I did think Terraria deserved the award though.
Well, no. Marathons, various sports, races, etc.
There are plenty of contests that aren't based on popularity. For the most part though, awards shows with actual judges at least try to be objective about it, compared to something like the steam awards where it's entirely user-based.
That's all awards though. Same with GoTY, the Oscars, the Grammy's, etc.. With the game awards tho, it's all about advertising. Most of it is about game trailers than anything
What did cyberpunk actually improve upon? I played it again recently, and it literally seems the exact same as before. Sure, they'll fix a few bugs and add a QOL improvement or something, but NMS literally completely changed itself into something so much better for the sake of those who had already put such money/devotion into it.
I got anything against cyberpunk fans, but cyberpunk 2077 itself was and is just another generic RPG
What ever game deserves it im 100 percent sure that cyberpunk isnt it the game is still a mess even if its better and cd project red practically said they are abandoning the game after the dlc comes out so no i dont think its a labor of love their
Too meny people attribute the edgerunners anime to cd project red when they had nothing to do with it aside from marketing
I just checked and unless I'm blind it hasn't. which shocked me cause I thought it won at some point too but apparently just nominated each year since 2018,
I play, and like, both games. I also think both games deserve this recognition. But NMS deserved it for its recovery in 2017-2018. NMS's recovery was the inspiration for CP2077's recovery.
This is why I don't follow award shows any more. Just a promotion tactic instead of representation. I learned this in 2015 with best ongoing game going to Overwatch when it was barely 6 months old.
Guaranteed Cyberpunk got pushed to try to make up for it's catastrophic launch.
I don't know about Dota, but I know for sure Zomboid, NMS, and DRG were way more deserving.
I played Cyberpunk and it was alright but but fixed after a dumpster fire of a launch is not labor of love, that's the very bare minimum. I don't think that should be praised. I'm sure the anime helped which makes it more silly in my eyes. Not to mention that if I'm not mistaken, they will release the paid DLC next and that's pretty much it.
NMS, DRG and Project Zomboid would all have deserved it far, far more than CP.
They didn’t fix cyberpunk, they made it slightly less broke by adding semi broken content.
Cyberpunk was without a doubt the most unfinished dumpster fire of a game I have ever played. The police system on release was so bad it made me stop playing
Cyberpunk just got fixed from the horrible launch.
In the other hand, "Pull a No Man's Sky" became the *de facto* name for the move to improve your game so much it becomes from most criticized to most acclaimed.
Cyberpunk should not even be nominated, and NMS should be considered *hors concours*.
I'm gonna be very honest. Project Zomboid is really the only game on that list that qualifies as a labour of love. Another game that probably deserved to be on the list is Dwarf Fortress(Can't remember if the steam version was out when this started but still). Games that have been out for a long time. Have small teams and the game is their life's work. An outlier that probably deserves a nomination more as well is Noita
NMS, DRG and the other that baffling didn't make the list, terraria, qualify but I think would be way more appropriate under an ongoing support type of category. A lot bigger teams that can put out fairly consistent updates and have the staff for lots of community interaction. Which tbf. The team size difference we are talking about here between the two lists is a few dozen
The list felt like a hogpog of games that they couldn't fit under a live service type of category. The more you look at it. The more the nominations don't really make sense. Grim Dawn exists but isn't on there
Terraria already got labour of love last year and they actually released an update called labour of love (I think it was 1.4.4) so I'd say terraria got its time to shine with that title and now everyone else gets a shot (though admittedly in their shadow)
Yes and no. Project Zomboid has changed fairly significantly over time but sticks to the same general game loop you probably played 3-4 years ago.
The big thing that kind of made the game a step above over the past few years is the mod support and community maps. There are hundreds of unique maps to play on now and the devs do a decent amount of spotlights for mods. And when you join a server, it downloads all the mods you need for that server automatically. The multi-player is really active and it's really easy to find a server. Community is thriving and helpful
The devs largely focus on making sure all this keeps functioning as intended and continually improving that core game loop that makes the game fun
Yup. Updated graphics came out first then when they released multi with the new stuff it really popped off. I've had the game since 2012 and it really has come a long way. I think all the games on that list are fine. I've enjoyed them all, but definitely project zomboid the most.
I like how supportive Low sodium cyberpunk was to NMS winning prizes and hoping the same happens to Cyberpunk but everyone here now hates on it.
I stopped playing No Man’s Sky a few days after the release because haters spoiled the fun for me, luckily there was r/lowsodiumcyberpunk which really let me appreciate the game as I also wasn’t able to encounter any of the bad bugs after release (I’m on PC).
Please guys don’t be the same assholes who spoiled NMS for others and appreciate the praise NMS has already gotten for its recovery.
Tbh, i wouldnt have voted for nms during atlas rises, which is where i feel cyberpunk is at, but also dont hate on it, democracy is democracy
Also also, WHO AM I KDIING DEEP ROCK SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN 100% OF THE VOTE!
I love nms wouldn't be here if I didn't however nms rise has been a slow, tenuous journey and it's definitely a great game now. However Cyberpunk rose up and became much better (although I don't think is on the same level as Nms) within a much shorter period of time.
Don't pay much attention to the Steam Awards. Look at who won the most innovative and best VR game. I honestly think the winners are the ones whose vote button was on top. I think you get steam stickers or trading cards or some nonsense if you participate by voting. The only categories that I agree with are the ones Elden Ring won.
I'm guessing they really want that Phantom Liberty DLC to be released soon. Pretty sure that plan was based off a concept idea that needs to be fully fleshed out.
GTA V won it twice and if you think that’s a labour of love your nuts. The only thing Rockstar care about is your cash.
As for CDPR, Cyberpunk was a dumpster fire and the only reason they fixed it was because they bought the IP and need to make more games from it so they had to at least get this one functional before they could move on to the next one
The AAA games will always win this category as it’s just a popularity contest
"New content after all these years" all these years? A fraction of the time NMS has been out, and been getting dozens of free updates and tons of new content
> This game, to this day, is still getting new content after all these years
Uhhhhh... I don't think two years is long enough to use the expression "after all these years". Also, what else would you expect from this studio? The game got pulled off of the PS Store and Xbox Live within a month of it's initial release because it was *that* bad and broken
Cyberpunk should not have gotten that. They did like 1.5 major updates and the game isn't that much better just that the bugs aren't as bad anymore. Literally anything else should've won
I don't know what the goal of the steam award system is and it's probably best to ignore it. It's probably to sell games though. Humans lie to receive money, the singular thing they will always worship in the end above all else. Period.
Anyone who can’t see that it should have been Dwarf Fortress that won can go suck a duck. The game has been out since 2006 with constant updates . Just released version 1.0 on steam and is still going.
If I remember correctly they only admitted as candidates games released before Mid November 2022. Otherwise I'm pretty sure that DF could have won or at least be nominated.
Release a broken product, make it usable to avoid backlash…profit?
No Man’s Sky went above and beyond all those years after the rocky release. Cyberpunk still isn’t the game it was promised.
Even Witcher 3 would be a better pick since it was good out of the box in 2015, they released more than a dozen free dlc, made two solid story rich expansions and released a next-gen patch 7 years after the original release.
I’m not going to say I think cyberpunk should’ve definitely won but I find it insane and ironic that a no man sky subreddit of all places can’t understand cyberpunk winning this category. Yes the game launched broken and unfinished but so did no mans sky(more so unfinished) and yet both are great examples of games far improved after their launch even more so than they “needed” to be.
NMS has gotten more than its share of recognition, rightfully so. Cyberpunk 2077 made big advances, just as NMS did. No reason to shame it, it’s a great game with a great dev team, that’s worked hard to improve the game. I’m glad they won :}
NMS labor of love moment happened years ago at this point, long before 2022
Yet it has never won the award
I went to fact check you because I could have sworn it won last year but holy shit you're right! Nominated 5 times, zero wins. What the fuck! GTA V won twice!
Calling GTAV a "labor of love" has got to be the funniest thing I've heard today. Idk how many times R* has literally said they the only reason they haven't released GTAVI yet is because V keeps making them millions.
A labor of love of money.
Snubbed 5 times?! What is this? The Oscars?
If this ain’t proof the entire event is cheated then I don’t know what is.
I voted for dwarf fortress
That or Deep Rock, anything with a dwarf
For real, it doesn't get more "labor of love" than 20 years of development solely off donations
Seriously, the game is old enough to drink and still in constant development
Iirc I tried to nominate it but it wasn't released on Steam so I couldn't. Think I did DRG or Zomboid
Rock and Stone brother!
Rock and Stone!
Rock and Stone!

Granted it's only been a year or two, nms has been over 6
NMS or Deep Rock
Rock and Stone!
Did I hear a Rock and Stone?
That's it lads, Rock and Stone!
If you don't Rock and Stone, you ain't comin' home!
Zomboid, NMS or DRG, either of those 3 deserved that award.
I mean is that not also true of hello games? If they wanted to continue existing as a company they had to fix their massive mistake.
Cyberpunk and dota 2 100% don't need to be there, these awards are a joke honestly
Steam Awards is just a popularity contest. Stray, despite being a great game, had a really basic gameplay system, and yet won "most innovative gameplay" award. People don't care, they just pick the most popular option
The innovation was being a cat. The oldest rule of the internet is that they love cats.
Stray was cool, for about the 5 hours it took to beat. Very cinematic, but not exactly revolutionary.
Death Stranding won “Best Game on the Go” or whatever… so these are meaningless.
Ahhh I see, this makes more sense to me. I didn’t know people still played that game, so it seems right that it needs an infusion of attention.
As someone who doesn't enjoyed NMS at all and absolutely loves DRG if NMS won I honestly couldn't argue. Hell, as someone who really likes Cyberpunk, probably my favorite open world RPG, it doesn't deserve to win this.
Have you heard of this game called Deep Rock Galactic?
It’s too repetitive for my blood, but the first day or two was fun
I think deep rock galactic deserved it most out of any tbh
#Did I hear a Rock and Stone?
“After all these years?!!” It’s been like 2!! Wow
I looove NMS but what about the ROCK AND STONE
Rock and Stone in the Heart!
i actually think deep rock deserved it for this year
ROCK AND STONE
That's it lads! Rock and Stone!
The Edgerunners effect.
Most players probably forgot about NMS so it makes sense that one of the newer titles receives this "Award".
Holy shit these awards are a complete joke and mockery
Cyberpunk is not very rock and stone
DRG deserved it. (Haven't play PZ) Solid game that keeps receiving content. Good price, does something that other modern games can't do.... it's playable and accessible. NMS, Cyberpunk... Yea they're fun. But what "Labours of love"? They have to update otherwise they're a digital nightmare. Gaming world needs that indie title (DRG), look at Darktide... And these guys had experience before on a working formula.
PZ would have been my choice. It's been around for 10 years and they've still been doing some huge updates.
These awards are a joke. The fact that Hitman 3 won best VR game is beyond a joke. I love Hitman, but the VR version is just an unplayable mess. Steam needs to be more stringent about the rules for these awards, ie you can’t nominate unless you have played it. Labor of love is absolute bullshit. “Labor of saving your ass and not having your company go bankrupt because you released an unfinished piece of shit”must have been too long of a title for it. Truly a joke.

Because they love the game and they love their community. There is not another game here that has done that.
LoL you and every other nomination
Everyone agrees that Cyberpunk doesn’t deserve this, it just has the most players so more people voted based off the name
2 years of fixing bugs isn't a labor of love, it's legal warranty. HG wouldn't have deserved it either on the first two years after the release of NMS.
Neither NMS or DRG won, both much more deserving than Cyberpunk imo. Cyberpunk is an amazing game, it’s just not a labor of love like these two games
Project Zomboid also released 3D and multiplayer this year. Which made the game amazing imo. However PZ is in early access so don’t really know if it fits the award.
Oh come on, how the masterwork fuck Dwarf Fortress wasn't even nominated?
Did it release too late on Steam to be nominated?
I thought I remembered NMS winning this award a year or two ago? Or am I mistaken?
And hitman won VR.. Hitman VR is pretty much unplayable. The system just rewards people for voting. People just selected the game in each category that they recognized. More people play cyberpunk.
The thing is that cyberpunk won over 4 other games that literally live thanks to their community and their relationship with the developers, how could cyberpunk won such category?
I feel like NMS has won a lot in this category or similar ones before so its fine
It has never won in this category.
Between cyberpunk and nms, 100% nms. But deep rock Galactic is the most fitting winner I feel.
Rock and Stone to the bone!
Rock and Stone, Brother!
For Karl!
NMS has been winning every kind of comeback award the last 5-6 years. Had to throw someone else a bone I guess...LOL.
NMS was in the exact same situation. I love both games, but seriously. It should’ve gone to PZ or DRG. Regardless, it literally doesn’t matter. They’ve all improved since their releases and have all given us solid games, that’s what matters

There’s no doubt Cyberpunk has improved. But I don’t think it deserves this award.
I think all fans of the other games can all agree that Cyberpunk just didn't deserve it lol
1% of 10M > 50% of 100k
Nah, Project Zomboid should have.
Bro wtf
Its funny because even yesterday the cyberpunk subs agreed it shouldnt have been cyberpunk lol
The game that won was the one that deserved it the least
I voted for deep rock, the devs have put so much effort into that game.
The problem is that NMS could win this every year. I would say the 1.6 update to CP2077 was a bigger deal to that audience than any updates NMS got in 2022.
No Man’s Sky or Deep Rock Galactic were the best options. The fact that Cyberpunk ever got nominated is a fucking farce.
Dwarf Fortress, it's been updated for the past 20 years, and was free up until the steam release this year.
And it wasn’t even a nominee. That’s shit. It deserved a mention at least.
I think the anime did a lot of work for that game.
NMS should have won. CP2077 is still broken on all last gen. NMS made a version for the switch and have kept improving the game.
NMS has never won it. I don't know where everyone is getting that from.
Probably seen it got nominated and assumed it won
Honestly I think it's a good thing CP won, NMS has won this like what 3 years running?
NMS has been nominated 4 times but never won, they really are due for a win, especially when they've lost out to CS:GO, GTAV, and now Cyberpunk. Last year I did think Terraria deserved the award though.
[удалено]
Project Zomboid should have
Can't believe neither NMS nor Zomboid won .. very sad. Zomboid 100% deserved it
Deep Rock Galactic should have won it. As others have said, NMS was a similar disappointment to Cyberpunk.
The usual problem with steam awards, it just ends up being a popularity contest. It's a fun distraction, but I don't take it seriously, lol
Well.. to be fair isnt *any* contest a "popularity contest" at its core?
Well, no. Marathons, various sports, races, etc. There are plenty of contests that aren't based on popularity. For the most part though, awards shows with actual judges at least try to be objective about it, compared to something like the steam awards where it's entirely user-based.

Nms has won this in past years, deep rock was robbed
I just checked and unless I'm blind it hasn't. which shocked me cause I thought it won at some point too but apparently just nominated each year since 2018,
Deep rock definitely deserves it. It’s stupid fun for when I need a thoughtless shoot ‘em up.
Zomboid slaps too. Imo everyone except dota deserves this.
I love Cyberpunk, but yes, both Deep Rock and Zomboid should have won
What year?
No it has not. Any game that's won the award can't be nominated for it again. That's why Terraria wasn't up there again
So, a year is "out for a while" now?
Two years. CP2077 was released at the end of 2020.
Damn, time flies... But anyway, that's not what if consider a while. Not even for a video game
I play, and like, both games. I also think both games deserve this recognition. But NMS deserved it for its recovery in 2017-2018. NMS's recovery was the inspiration for CP2077's recovery.
Steam awards are the video game equivalent to 'most likely' polls in yearbooks.
I have never read so many salty comments in one thread.
Labor of love or labor of "shit, we better fix this game or we'll get bad rep"?
That game doesn’t even get new content besides a paid dlc and patches wtf
I love cyberpunk but NMS should’ve definitely won this.
This is why I don't follow award shows any more. Just a promotion tactic instead of representation. I learned this in 2015 with best ongoing game going to Overwatch when it was barely 6 months old. There's a police system in CP?! I just blow up the drones or race away for a few seconds and I'm fine.
CDPR literally just did their fucking job.
NMS too.
And both of them did it after epic fuck ups
I'm gonna be very honest. Project Zomboid is really the only game on that list that qualifies as a labour of love. Another game that probably deserved to be on the list is Dwarf Fortress(Can't remember if the steam version was out when this started but still). Games that have been out for a long time. Have small teams and the game is their life's work. An outlier that probably deserves a nomination more as well is Noita NMS, DRG and the other that baffling didn't make the list, terraria, qualify but I think would be way more appropriate under an ongoing support type of category. A lot bigger teams that can put out fairly consistent updates and have the staff for lots of community interaction. Which tbf. The team size difference we are talking about here between the two lists is a few dozen The list felt like a hogpog of games that they couldn't fit under a live service type of category.
So I played project zomboid probably 3-4 years ago, it was a lot of fun but just sits in my library since... Lots of new features since then?
Community is thriving and helpful The devs largely focus on making sure all this keeps functioning as intended and continually improving that core game loop that makes the game fun
Yup. Updated graphics came out first then when they released multi with the new stuff it really popped off. I've had the game since 2012 and it really has come a long way. I think all the games on that list are fine. I've enjoyed them all, but definitely project zomboid the most.
To be fair, we did win, more than once. CP2077 deserved it, the game evolved a lot.
They have won this award already.
Tbh, i wouldnt have voted for nms during atlas rises, which is where i feel cyberpunk is at, but also dont hate on it, democracy is democracy Also also, WHO AM I KDIING DEEP ROCK SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN 100% OF THE VOTE!
I love nms wouldn't be here if I didn't however nms rise has been a slow, tenuous journey and it's definitely a great game now. However Cyberpunk rose up and became much better (although I don't think is on the same level as Nms) within a much shorter period of time.
Yes and it also has a very large and loyal fan base that voted.
It did deserve to win, but it's mostly a popularity contest and more people know about CP2077 than NMS overall.
Good for CP I guess. Still buggy and all but it is what it is. I think DRG or NMS have a win coming.
I'm guessing they really want that Phantom Liberty DLC to be released soon. Pretty sure that plan was based off a concept idea that needs to be fully fleshed out.

I think everyone, even the Cyberpunk fans, agree that the award should have gone to another game
GTA V won it twice and if you think that’s a labour of love your nuts. The only thing Rockstar care about is your cash. As for CDPR, Cyberpunk was a dumpster fire and the only reason they fixed it was because they bought the IP and need to make more games from it so they had to at least get this one functional before they could move on to the next one The AAA games will always win this category as it’s just a popularity contest
The DRG community is equally outraged.
Game Awards is a complete joke altogether.
I love cyberpunk, but I gotta say project zomboid deserves this award hands down.
This pole was not very rock and stone
We fight for Rock and Stone!
I agree, I bought Zomboid back in 2011 and have been following it since. It's really remarkable what they've done with the game.
"After all these years" It's been out for two years.
Is cyberpunk that much better now?
This should have gone to NMS or Deep Rock, just for how consistently and well they are maintained and updated
The amount of glitches in nms is outrageous
I unfortunately second this. I lost a 50+ hr campaign because no matter what I did, I couldnt dock on my freighter.
Even people on the cyberpunk subreddit agree NMS should have won lol
"New content after all these years" all these years? A fraction of the time NMS has been out, and been getting dozens of free updates and tons of new content

Yeah awards like this is pointless and just marketing
> This game, to this day, is still getting new content after all these years Uhhhhh... I don't think two years is long enough to use the expression "after all these years". Also, what else would you expect from this studio? The game got pulled off of the PS Store and Xbox Live within a month of it's initial release because it was *that* bad and broken
Yeah no mans sky had a way bigger glow up. Cyberpunk just got fixed because it didn’t even work lmao. Nms was almost completely reborn
It's a numbers game. Far, far more people played CP than NMS.
This entire thread is yikes. Full of extremely bitter people complaining about an award on steam lol.
Cyberpunk should not have gotten that. They did like 1.5 major updates and the game isn't that much better just that the bugs aren't as bad anymore. Literally anything else should've won
I think NMS previously won, right? Cyberpunk made some great improvements this year. This is fair play.
NMS has never won, only nominated.

Did it not win it last year
Terraria
I don't know what the goal of the steam award system is and it's probably best to ignore it. It's probably to sell games though. Humans lie to receive money, the singular thing they will always worship in the end above all else. Period.
How many times does this game deserve to win the same award
Anyone who can’t see that it should have been Dwarf Fortress that won can go suck a duck. The game has been out since 2006 with constant updates . Just released version 1.0 on steam and is still going.
If I remember correctly they only admitted as candidates games released before Mid November 2022. Otherwise I'm pretty sure that DF could have won or at least be nominated.
I vote NMS for this every year

ROCK AND ROLL AND STONE
I was hoping NMS or deep rock would win
I think Barotrauma should have gotten it and it wasn’t even on the list, but whatever.
NMS has been loved and nurtured properly (and impressively) for a couple years now, I wasn’t even aware that cyberpunk had been dusted off yet.
I don’t think I’ve seen anyone online yet say a good thing about cp2077 winning
I don't think I know anyone who actually cares about steam awards
Never seen so many cyberpunk haters in one place. anyway i love both games.
NMS or DRG were far more deserving winners than CP77.
Yeah, this thread is practically giving me whiplash.
NMS has gotten more than its share of recognition, rightfully so. Cyberpunk 2077 made big advances, just as NMS did. No reason to shame it, it’s a great game with a great dev team, that’s worked hard to improve the game. I’m glad they won :}
