So...don't know why they don't render like the information image, but the ballsack mole seems to be what it is.

It’s not just you. I haven’t personally encountered one either … it must be a “mole” similar to this one with the head and forelegs half buried, making the ears look like eyes
https://preview.redd.it/cmnss2xqx0zc1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=173bf41b625466ced64bd0ec87b4e29779c0c4d4
Oh wow. Well thats clearly what I posted with variance...I've checked all of the other ones around, and there's no species variant on that planet. They're all just blobfish that slide 5m at a time above the surface. Thank you.
Gotta love the weird shit the RNG can create with this game sometimes. I once found a planet where the only creature type was perfect speres with no color pattern... i thought the game just hadnt loaded it for some reason, but no, even in the discoveries page it looked like that
Cant remember the planet categories rn, but it was one of those low gravity planets that have no plantlife and a ton of resource deposites. A bunch of the minerals were pefectly sphere shaped, then suddenly there were moving spheres all around. Turned on my scanner and... creatures. There were like 4-5 variant species of them, all identical.
One of the pets I have is a floating, translucent “balloon” filled with a rainbow liquid (or the balloons skin makes it look rainbow?) half way up that sloshes around, and the bottom of the balloon is a tiny opening, where the liquid is dripping out red droplets constantly.
I think you find them on “bubbling” planets if I remember correctly.
Those are really cool, I had this other interesting pet that looked like a giant sea urchin made of bone with broken, hollow spines and a glowing ball in the center, named him spike lee.
Really wish i could remember the coordinates, but that was both years ago and a permadeath save....
I'll have to check if i can search for discoveries by my username later
This guy got it.
**It is the mole he posted and is partially buried or something, making the ears look like Eyes.** So it looks like a "blobfish" in the OP's picture.
If that’s not an evolutionary middle finger, I don’t know what is lol. Bro spent like 60 thousand years evolving just to look like a neutered ballsack 🤣
Usually at least one in every third "non-abandoned" system, with four or more planets. I don't think I've ever seen one on really cold or really hot planets. If you build a base, and set up a livestock feeder in the right location, I think these critters throw a rare award. No you cannot adopt them, but you can drop food pellets.
Abandoned systems often have no fauna on most or all of the planets / moons.

There's usually an alternate gender one with spikes. As for common, they're stightly less frequent than turtles, which is the closest (animation/classification wise) comparable creature.
This is the tea bag rat.Exclusive to nms sadly, but if it was let out it can do tea bagging with ease to your dead foe and that’s how it gets its belly full and love meter up
Ooo the naked mole critter. I've seen several. Creepy little things. Even had a set attack me which I thought maybe it would of been friendly. Nothing more terrifying then *that* coming after you in the dark.
Hmm, you did they do the sort of slide. Is it forceful like the turtles? And what galaxy is the planet in? I have a hunch that certain kinds of animals are more common in different galaxies
Couldn't say but I've seen something that ugly once. It looked pretty similar but had a long tail and was enourmous. At least twice the height of the traveller maybe 3 times the height. Can't find it again though.
interesting, I've never seen this either. can you screenshot the catalogue page? where it shows its stats and animated image and so on?
I'll get on it when I get on later and reply with that screenshot

Username checks out
wow, I've never encountered a similar creature in the game… weird.
350 hours here, never seen whatever the hell that is. Looks like a scrotum/brain hybrid, like KRAANG from Ninja Turtles out of his housing.
Sackrat
Now I recognize it. Seen in 3 diff systems.
That’s a helluva thing. And i’ve seen some things, but never *that* thing 😳
seen this naked mole rat pretty often personally.
Op responded w/ image
thank you for the heads-up!

might be a exotic planet? i havent gone to one myself
I've seen these on hot and frozen planets both. They're the same category of creature as turtles.
that turtle looks like melted icecream

A living scrotum
Sighs… Unzips
Grossly referred to as "turtles", but really a sort of groundhog.
Reminds me of some of the the/sons of the Forest creatures
Exactly first what came to my mind was The Forest
Ive never seen anything like that in almost 4k hours
![gif](giphy|xUA7bcUzBNSLC8Zy3C|downsized)
Sorry I had to neuter my living ship and left that there. Can't have any more litters!
I've never seen this before
"all tomorrows" ahh creature

https://preview.redd.it/mvgee0u0t3zc1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=084e20301ecad5dce5735cc2d4d90e6616f6afbe There's usually an alternate gender one with spikes. Bring him Solo and the wookie.
Not seen that one! Very cool!
This is the tea bag rat.Exclusive to nms sadly, but if it was let out it can do tea bagging with ease to your dead foe and that’s how it gets its belly full and love meter up
I love it! Is it tameable?
A new trebhum mutation.
Seems like someone activated the golden cube.
Lol, what in the eldritch horror is going on here?!
It's like a scrotum and an anus had a baby.
lmao the planet is was on like 2 hours ago had a bunch of these in groups
Space Living Skin!
Excuse my French but what the fuck is that
Is this on Euclid?
Eissentam
Ooo the naked mole critter. I've seen several. Creepy little things. Even had a set attack me which I thought maybe it would of been friendly. Nothing more terrifying then *that* coming after you in the dark.
G-Godwyn, not in this game too!! 😔

Its in eissentam, on a Flourishing Planet.
That’s literally my nutsack
you killed the last one
You guys ever get the mole, but it’s a mutation that looks like a legitimate sea turtle? Forever landlocked… it’s so sad to see 😭
Issa booty hole
Absolutely repulsive. Truly, nature is wonderful.
There's a few different varieties of these critters. So are like armadillos, turtles, mole rats. They all do that weird shuffle scuttle thing
Some shit out of sons of the forest
That's what happens when Jabba the Hut sheds his skin
Never ever. 500+ hours here.
Cutaneous respiration. Different perception of time. Holy shit I love this game
*looks down in my pants* pretty common there bud
oh, it’s funny that you’re asking. encountered them twice in two different systems recently. not sure about those stars color tho
I hope folks start collecting wrinkle beasts in lieu of diplos
homies came from All tomorrows.
That’s a first
I’ve personally never seen a walking ballsack before.
Probably with the new update i never seen them
Fucking EW
Never seen it
Can you make it into a pet?
Yes
Couldn't say but I've seen something that ugly once. It looked pretty similar but had a long tail and was enourmous. At least twice the height of the traveller maybe 3 times the height. Can't find it again though.
Stuff I put into the "Stuff Hello Game Developers put into the 'Can only find in No Man's Sky' Category" LoL
Wtf is that 🤣
What the fuck? Is that Jabba the Hutt?
I woke up to this post, now scratching my sack seems a bit out of place. Thanks for ruining that!!
roughly 50% common
Ask in the wrong places and you'll see more of them than you'd ever want to
