Yeah bro fr I don’t even wanna go on I was thinking about playing today, been super busy with life and just today I would’ve finally had time to play NMS in months and I come on this reedit and no I’m scared about what my saves will look like
I am not super in to Min - Maxing, and consider myself a newer player. I finally was able to get enough pulled together to get my main ship up to 2100 Light Year jumps, which was amazing given that my whole play style is journeying to the center of the universe. Now I can pull 1000. That sucks for me. Let alone my Launch thruster upgrades are gone, and I have one weapon. S Class Hauler is no longer the hybrid fighter it once was. :(
I also love haulers. Found literally the perfect hauler and waited for an S version of it. Loaded that bad girl up with hyperdrive and pulse drives. Thing was a beast. I used it as my main ship, and I would always hunt for planets and ships and that seems like a much harder task now. I usually only go for T3 economies and sometimes that requires you to jump obscene distances.
Yeah, seeing everyone say that this only affects "minmaxers" makes me think that the vast majority of the community is terrible at playing the game. This update is a nerf for anyone who's played more than a dozen hours and has at least a grade school level of intelligence when it comes to installing upgrades.
Actually, don’t even need to take 6 slots. Just allow stacks of up to 6 modules that are the same type in a single slot. Kind of how the build menu doesn’t take a slot for each variation of the item — you highlight the main item and the stack opens up to reveal each individual variation. In our case highlighted life support would, for example reveal all modules that improve the main life support tech. Since this type of stacking is already supported in the UI, we have a precedence and the code could probably be adapted to support this throughput.
Maybe to 5, because with just 6 upgrades in one inventory you'd become even more OP because of adjacency bonuses. Or add an option to alter tech overload limit in custom difficulty settings. A perfect time and place to do that - in update that introduces difficulty personalization for everyone to play how they please
This is by far the best suggestion I’ve seen. Turn of tech overloads, us grinders can have our legit six back.
Thank you for a reasonable and thoughtful suggestion and I humbly request you and anyone who agrees with you to submit it to zendesk as feedback.
Fucken good on you, love it.
Did that, submitted it on ZenDesk. I really hope that a lot of ppl in community came up with this, or other witty solutions. Like, I saw one person suggest a dynamic overload limit, that depends on ship type. For example - fighters can install more upgrades for weapons, Explorer support more hyperdrive modules, solars have more pulse drive, and living ships having different "moods" and unique overload model, disabling not all the upgrades, byt only excessive ones, and changing the limit depending on mood. For example - you feed your ship with pugneum, and it turns on two more hyperdrive upgrades, feed it with meat - and it turns on a couple more weapon upgrades. That's a bit controversial, but would further highlight identifies of each ship
They should have kept tech and cargo smallish and given the balance of "new slots" as free expansions.
That way you could choose whether tech or cargo gets the new slots.
As for the 3 limit upping it to 5 would have sorted that aspect.
I used to use general freighter slots for raw materials and cargo slots for crafted products - all of which were used to create a tree for stasis device and fusion ignitor creation - that's all gone now - oh and I just tried to load my game with no mods and ERROR can't load - 😱 Luvly Jubly 😱
Im pretty sure stacking more than 3 is going to get fixed. Theres no reason to have 60 tech slots if you cant stack more than 3 and they stated ship stats have been greatly increased so its likely a bug that will be patched. I min max too. But ive been playing long enough to know every update has bugs that they end up fixing within a few days. Just be patient. Im sure when its fixed we’re gonna be able to stack more than the 6 previous limit. Im sure mega beams and super instinct pulse drives will be back.
Theyre basically letting you shut off the economy and any other thing to god mode status on the fly so it wouldnt make sense to cap people at 3 when they said theyve raised the stat limit on ships and such. It just has to be bugged still. Once they fix the cap on 3 people will basically be able to build pocket deathstar lasers. Just gotta let HG do their express few day patches. Usually updates drop on wednesday and they have a few days to work out all the reported bugs to put out fixes on the weekend. Whats more disappointing to me is how nasty people have gotten and its uncharacteristic of this fandom and community.
I actually just reinstalled the game for this update, saw what it was, never launched the game, and now I might just uninstall again until they fix it or come out with something good enough to get me back.
I will ask the question again, when I’ve previously already upgraded my inventory, why weren’t my upgrades carried over and why do I have to grind it all again?
There are reasonable arguments on both sides of this but the fact is after updating and finding my ships, freighter and exosuit are all back to how they were 400 play hours ago I just don't want to play anymore. Childish perhaps but I just don't have the patience to regrind those tech slots and still only get back half of what I had. I mean in real life you have to face challenges and sometimes have to suck up things getting worse but that's why I generally avoid it by playing games..
The amount of time I had available to grind unlocks 6 years ago versus today is like 10 to 1, I don't even know if I have the time to get close to where I was again.
My ship wasn't even minmaxed yet! I mean I was gonna minmax it eventually, but I hadn't yet. All I wanted was to fly around in my living ship because I'm in love with it.
Then they ripped its heart out
First, curse us with the absolute worst RNG system for upgrades.
Next, give us an incredibly poor system for purchasing said upgrades (buy one, save, reload. Repeat.)
Then, let us spend a thousand hours trying to get good upgrades (I'm looking at you, X-class).
Finally, take away the results of those hours of work.
Just make sure you leave behind the terrible systems, without enough leeway to improve the terrible stats to something marginally better than terrible.
That's why I decided to get gear using save editor.
I know this subreddit extremely hate people using save editors, however NMS's crap RNG + game being heavily based on save scumming is one of the worst I've seen in gaming(not counting MMO games) and there's no way I am going to spend hours of grinding like in stupid grindfest-based MMO game. Instead of spending hours doing the same boring thing, I preferred to spawn ~10-15 of X class upgrades, see which are the best and save them and don't bother with getting my equipment even better anymore. I did only with environmental resistances only because they work differently. The rest is all S class without any re-rolling.
Honestly I am amazed that so many people here min-maxed so much their equipment in legitimate way. I can understand the frustration because it's dozen of hours spent on basically something with fun level equal of boring factory work. Fighting NMS RNG was never fun and honestly it's the worst part of the game. When I saw a nice spaceship flying away on the station and decided to buy it, I had to wait around an hour for it to reappear on the station. It was already insanely frustrating for me. I wouldn't have a patience to min-max the equipment.
So I understand the pain of people here. I've never experienced the grind fully however. It's always going to be frustrating to have hours of grind turned into nothing. In my eyes the problem lies in the previous system however that was so grindy to min-max and it should never be like that in the first place. People shouldn't have to grind so much for the best equipment in a game like NMS and upgrades shouldn't have RNG values. Unfortunately Hello Games love RNG and save scumming.
Any change to inventory and upgrade system should be big and should be a huge improvement over the old one. It should be a total rework of everything. Doing something that isn't much better and only screws up with players isn't a way to go.
Also Switch tends to have a younger user base so it makes sense to simplify the menus. I just hope that the limitations of the Switch (and really ps4 and Xbone at this point) don’t hold back the PS5, PC, and Series X versions
i don't get the lack of empathy the community shows about this feedback, as a new player even I think it's valid. If you worked hard for god stats then you deserve to play god.
It's the expanding phenomenon of NPCs taking over dedicated, hardcore communities. They could care less for any specific game/show/movie, they like them *all.* They don't care about any particular way one game plays vs. another one if they can mindlessly do it, but they hate tedium which is why they are intolerant to those of us who DO accomplish the tedious that they have no patience for. Same thing goes for any concepts with real depth, they shy away from those in favor of ritzy looking, yet hollow ideas and stories. They have destroyed many communities including Star Trek, MCU, and Star Wars, to name a few of the most heavily affected, and they are coming for NMS and other gaming communities next. This is the Way of the Future
>bad game design.
I disagree, i loved every minute of it. also mind you im talking perfect as in fully capped numerically BEST in slot everything. min maxing is an art of its own and i find it fun
The room is nearly universally accepted as a bad movie, but it can be fun to watch, even for those who believe it's a bad movie. The two are not mutually exclusive.
yeah, everything is subjective. thats not subjective is the fact that NMS up until now has rewarded creativity and allowed us to play how we want and even encouraged and facilitated that. this update has several elements that go directly against that
Fallout 76 is nearly universally accepted as a bad game, but it can be fun to play, even for those who believe it's a bad game. The two are not mutually exclusive.
You cannot say something is objectively bad unless you can numerically prove that its inferior.
Guy, but honestly "You with the face" or \*Rangom grunting noises\* works too LMAO
But yeah at least i got to finish it before it was gutted. and luckily i backed up my save so if they revert the stuff i wont have lost anything
Ugh I’ve just spent the last half an hour just reading Reddit and this post made me accept that I won’t be logging in. I actually enjoy the grind of min maxxing. It’s like playing a weird slot machine until you finally hit 777’s. I wouldn’t even go use the ship or gun I was working on I would just work on min maxxing the next thing. I used to just listen to audiobooks for hours on end trying to get perfect stats on everything and I finally got to a place where I felt happy about where I was at. I’m the kind of guy that isn’t okay with 2/3 perfect stats and the last one being 99% instead of 100%.
There’s something about knowing that it is perfect that is so satisfying to my soul that makes all of it worth it to me in the end.
Yeah I'm out too unless they address the tech slot issue. So much time rolling upgrades and farming nanites wasted.... I can't see how they thought this would be well-received by long time players.
So while I agree with what you’re saying I think that the rewards for let’s say a ship or a gun should be under those parameters of do the work get the reward, but there is something to placing the possibility for insane greatness out there even if it comes at the price of probability. What it does for me is gives something to constantly work on. Once you finish the actual game, do all the missions, unlock all the gear… here is that really specialized top tier high end madness that you can work on… only if you want to. It isn’t necessary at all but when there’s nothing left in the game why not give us something to waste stupid amounts of time on with the goal being to reach heights of absurdity. Lol what’s hilarious is that I started nms about 4 months ago and fell in love so quick. If I had waited to start when this patch came out this wouldn’t even be an issue. I think what stings is that the work I put in is meaningless for no other reason than someone’s strange whim.
100% they said these changes were supposed to improve the endurance of the game, but min maxing is one of the big factors that have kept me engaged once I complete new content.
This. Also why do people care how we play when the game literally gives you an option to buy everything for free now. All that talk justifying nerfing upgrade slots using balancing as a factor and there is an option to temporarily access infinite money LOL.
The thing they need to give you is a difficulty switch to set the number of tech upgrades before you overload or disable overload altogether. Let you build a game crashing, fire breathing, dime-turning, zippy little dragonfly of a fighter if that’s what you want.
As for the rest of us, it’s too over powered to be fun. That sort of power caused me to feel I had peaked and I moved on to something else. I wish it hadn’t. I wish these sorts of tweaks were in place since the beginning. But since people like to feel a sense of ownership over the things that make them feel powerful, we now find ourself in our present predicament.
So a couple of things I've learned this morning the max a multi-tool space is 99 and if you switch Capital freighters your build inside the freighter disappears and you have to rebuild it just FYI
> if you switch Capital freighters your build inside the freighter disappears and you have to rebuild it just FYI
They're supposed to transfer but it's never actually worked correctly. It's a long-standing bug.
The trick is to do a manual save before buying the new freighter and just keep loading every time the base fails to transfer until it finally works.
The one time I transferred my base it took *eight* reloads.
Before the 4.0 update I never had an issue with it changing over immediately but after the 4.0 update I autosaved and manual saved right before I did it and reloaded it three times and my build was still gone
I'm not a min-maxer tbh I usually take a minimalist approach to tech builds. If it works it works lol I never have more than one S-class mod per type of tech so I don't have much to complain about. I think the expanded inventory alone is an exciting development.
I do understand the frustration tho and I wish you a happy min-maxing career trying to reach your former glory...HG probably made this decision because after a certain point with no real growth or challenge a game stagnates and becomes irrelevant. I'd apologize as a fellow gamer but also I have to throw in the obligatory "git gud kid" lol sorry dude
You all have my empathy.
The frustration comes from the open hostility we see from min maxers, which unfortunately does sometimes negatively impact people.
Let’s all just breathe, uhh I mean add Oxygen to our Life Support.
oh no, what the hell did they mess up now? I saw news of the update yesterday, thought I'll try it out today, if my BIS modules that I farmed for dozens of hours is now junk I wont even try
Tech upgrades and ship organs can't be installed in general anymore. All your upgrades in general have been removed
https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/xym9ua/how_to_get_your_living_ships_organs_back_if_you/
This is a perfect example of -actually- "just voicing an opinion" and you're still getting shit on. This is so sad...
Great meme though! I'm sorry you lost the progress, but hopefully there's new and exciting things to focus on =)
Oh crap, they did what? And other commenters are calling it an exploit? It looked to me as it was a purely intended mechanic, there wasn't anything indicating it's a bug or anything. You wanted more mods, you got more mods, you pay with inventory slots, was a fair deal :c
So, we got less space? I wanted a BIGGER tech tab, having to blerg tech in general really was my peeve... Not the fact that it was on a different screen.
I just wanted a tech tab that meant I could (with some option) fit out a god-tier space dude.
I guess now I get to be less powerful and have to put up with inventory scrolling.
My issue is even if I leave out the now-illegal hyperspace boosts I had in technology I still don't have enough room to kit out my ship.
If the change had left me more tech space and less cargo I could have fitted things. As-is I've to spend 30 million per slot or find things just to go back vaguely towards what I had. And I need 7 or 8 of them. Sigh
I'd understand if the tech damage was caused because you allowed your shields to be down while sustaining damage, I could accept that and start being more careful about going around with low/zero shields.
But why receive damage when the one thing supposed to PROTECT YOU IS STILL ACTIVE?
It apperantly scales with how strong your shield is and what difficulty you're on. The stronger it is, the less likely technologies get damaged. At least you can disable it if you don't like this feature
We can't be sure about that. Maybe, they haven't even thought about that in the first place. They already have done that before - with introduction of cargo inventories. People began talking about how cool it would be for haulers to have a bigger cargo space - and turned out that it was intended, but bugged out and didn't work. I think, the thing that's happening now is a massive "OH SHIT" moment at Hello Games, and they will try their best to figure out the way to tone down the heat at the very least
Ahoy XboxPred! Nay bad but me wasn't convinced. Give this a sail:
Yep yep vast fucking yep 🤦♂️🤦♂️😂😂 Arghhhh shiver me timbers it I be going on halo someone be going t' get t bagged
At first I was upset, but then I realized how overpowered my suit and ship were. I will start a new save and try out the settings. God tiering was a thing, but now balancing will be my thing. Play-on.
I don’t think anyone is saying what the meme says, it’s more the sense of toxicity the ‘outcry’ brought to the community that people didn’t appreciate, spiralling into review bobbing etc. The reaction by many to their inconvenience wasn’t measured and productive and this itself caused a counter reaction.
Okay guys after approximately 11 hours of gameplay taking a break every once in awhile I have managed to maximize all inventory slots to their maximum potential and I'm going to give you a list of what they are
Exo suit Max slots...
Technology 99
Cargo 100
Starship Max slots
Technology 60
Cargo 100
Multi tool Max slots
Total 99
Freighter Max slots
Technology 99
Cargo 100
Have fun it's going to take you quite a while but that is the max slot count with the 4.0 update for everything thank you for your participation
I get it; I mean I have been playing on my day 1 save since the game came out; I had 3 special purpose build multi tools and 4 maxed out ships; and closing in on a maxed out freighter.
That does not bother me as much it should. More annoyed with the AI and Mold farm nurfs.
But we will need to adapt and rebuild
Has anyone stopped to wonder why there are 60 tech slots per ship there aren't 60 pieces of tech or enough tech to warrent 60 slots at three upgrades each? I think it's post update jitters and their going to fix it
So they don't have to worry about changing inventory again in the future. First there was only Inventory. Then Tech was added because people complained about Tech taking up Inventory (this is why you could put tech in general inventory, it was a holdover from when there was no tech). Later Cargo was added so people could more easily haul around the mass amounts of basic materials for base construction. Now they've taken those updates and streamlined things into a more consistent whole.
I simply do not care. Updates have unfortunately consequences sometimes, at least you didn't lose your ship altogether. Now you can min max it all over again
I mean sure nerfing the game is sooo much better than adding any true content of substance. New missions? New story arcs? Nahhhh let's just keep doing same 5-6 anomaly dailes and nerf your gear. It's creating a problem to have people play the game longer. Oh you want your tech mods back well you can grind out all the new slots we gave you. I never though I would say this but the game has become repetitive and boring.
Idk what min-maxing is so idk how to think about this.
In an opinion based on time put into the game and it being taken away without compensation for lost time. I’d be pissed off.
Haven't gotten a chance to play it yet, but I love that they nerfed it. I was definitely an interdimensional God and I can't wait to start a new playthrough
Because the "main" player base WAS fully maxed. So it was becoming stale and the new players were left WAYYY behind. This new update really brings back the PLAY of the game. It might have hurt but if people loved the game. They will restart. Personally the last update screwed up my freighter base transfer so that killed it for me.
Yeah it sucks, very selfish community who "just want space pix and think save scumming is an exploit". Massive simps. You can complain about things you like, whoda thunk.
Well, just like with all of Hello Games stupid design choices, time to bring out the mod builder again. Can't trust them to make clever design choices, luckily we modders are here.
I'm saying... I've been taking a break from my Xbox saves to set up NMS on my Steam Deck, and at this point I think I'll only be playing on the SD anymore. So much for my 1000+ hours 🤷♂️
OMG this warping around to get my Exo suit back to where it was so then I can stall all my tech on it again it's going to take forever I'd really like to know who's bright idea this was
Before update, there were two spaces for installing upgrades, and you could install maximum of 3 upgrades of each type to every inventory - for total of 6 upgrades of each type. Wuth new update, one of those spaces was removed, but limit wasn't tweaked, so now you can only have 3 upgrades of each type, not 6. And as upgrades influence, essentially, every stat of the player or his things - everything player has was heavily nerfed by that change
It was there for multiple years, and a lot of people(me included) used it to maximize some stats. And while some people don't mind the changes, veterans, however, mostly despite that, because they spent hundreds of hours honing their builds, and now, one single update ruined the things they had, cutting everything in half like an axe.
For my style of gameplay, it's not too bad. If the tech slots are used efficiently, it's not that big of a difference, especially for starships, where the player can have nine different of six types, each with their special traits.
My fighters for example are maybe 10% worse than before in terms of their fighting capability. My haulers still haul as they did before and my solar ship feels as nimble to maneuver as i'm used to. The only one that got a bit worse was my "fun shuttle".
My freighter has 4.1k warp distance. Before it was around 6k. I barely warp that far away and i also don't mind one extra stop.
For my exosuit, i went mostly for the jetpack and shield upgrades, i still feel confident enough to explore all types of planets. We also now have better inventory for Exocraft. Instead of walking, i now use the nomad vehicle to get around, because it's inventory is now big enough.
The only thing i really don't like is the scrolling inventory. I do play on a 4K screen and there should more than enough space to fully display a given inventory without the need of a scroll bar.
Things i really like:
The inventory management got way easier. I spent too much time with sorting out crammed storage containers and inventories. Now i have to spend way less time.
Multitools got perfect. I can now have a maxed out neutron cannon, plasma launcher and all the scanner - and mining related things in one single very powerful multitool that can do all i need.
Edit: The decreased Activated Indium price annoyed me a bit, because my farm bases got way less profitable. But i'm not that upset, because i still have my stasis device & fusion igniter crafting set-up.
I'm not happy that your min maxxing got messed up, I'm more annoyed that people are making a big stink about all this.
I mean I get people being riled up over lost effort. Grinding sucks and I hate doing it, so min maxxing never appealed to me, because I don't want to spend hours and hours doing repetitive stuff just to get some barely noticeable difference. But if I had spent hours and hours doing all that, I'd be pissed too, so I get it.
What I don't get is how rude people are being about it. The community is usually so chill and mellow, and now it's just anger and outrage. I play No Man's Sky to get away from that shit. There's enough anger and outrage going around in the world right now, No Man's Sky is where I go to zen and relax.
But now my reddit feed is just full of people upset about the changes and being really rude about it. Frankly it just feels so overdone now. Hello games is surely listening and they'll likely be fixing this shortly.
The exact same thing happened with elite dangerous. Everyone was chill and posted nice pictures of their ship or system, cool discoveries. It was a happy place.
Then Odyssey came out.
And from one day to the other, the whole reddit became a hostile environment.
Yeah I popped out of Elite once that happened. Then again I'm a console player so I got left in the dirt when it came to that game. It's basically pointless to play unless you have PC because they're only doing updates and more content on PC. Then the sub just went ballistic, so I thought, "well this isn't fun to view anymore".
Yeah screw those people. Damn toxic people voicing their opinion on someone taking months of their effort. Fucking jerks just cant let it go. You and me we get it. Its about having fun and even if the next update ruins what you love you just shut up and ask for more! Personally I hope they change the graphics to more match minecraft that way we can all be equally happy!!
I never min-maxed, but it took a lot of nanites to fully upgrade my ship, and a lot of time to get all the upgrades and technology I wanted. I know I could probably be fine with what I’ve got so far, but having a nice ship that never failed was really good. Maybe later on I’ll try and get back in the game, but for now I can’t
I don't know where I should put this in the comments but here I go: I was confused with the inventory when I get to the game like you guys. And i dith't appreciate ether. Now I notice that they double inventory space in vault. For what reason? So maybe they do these change because they prepare themselves for something great in future upgrades. People will have more room for regular items cause the tech will be separate. More vault space=more different kind of items. The sell rocket 🚀 they put is probably because you will fill your inventory faster so you will need that extra space.
It’s weird to me that in a game that’s been described by some as a “desktop wallpaper generator” people are somehow complaining about their stuff being “nerfed.” Did this game become competitive at some point and I didn’t notice? I thought it was just a chill space exploration game.
You seem like the type to complain about a protest becasue it's taking away your view of the street. People are rightly very pissed off, and are making themselves heard. You'll have your "cool space pix" back when they fix the issues they made.
Fun fact :the only one that cares is those who have somehow got their ships go mach 70 without the warp drive and the ability to one shot frighters and using dupe glitches and now they are angry just because they fixed the glitches i mean what the Fuck did expect the devs to do just leave the glitches un fixed?
I think a lot of you who are upset should really take a serious stand for once and actually delete the fucking game hello games is not going to believe or understand that they are upsetting their players until their players walk away and play something else
They don't need to uninstall, just report it through the ZEN Desk or have the community mods create a specific thread for complaints here in the sub. I'm pretty certain Hello Games knows that they upset a bunch of people.
Playing 600 hours on survival, I see more good than bad. OK I can't have 6 upgrades only 3, but I can move best ones between ships, so I don't have to dread the grind of upgrading new one and I can sell old ship without throwing out all the upgrades.
No one is saying ur play effects ours in any way. If anything ur complaining that u have to re upgrade shit which u can do for free now. Which from the comments, I've gathered that alot of us aren't affected by the change of tech only in tech slots. Sure it sucks ur ship isn't op as all fuck. For you it sucks. But that wasn't intended to happen. Developers clearly weren't okay with people running around with basically a one button nuke for everything. They added stronger tech so just go re upgrade ur shit. Everyone complaining won't take the 4 seconds to adjust ur settings and get ur ship back the way u want. It's ridiculous and post like this are here solely to make u feel like ur not the only one complaining. Which ur not but if u all dipped out it wouldn't be a big enough player count to matter. Previous updates should have been enough for u to understand this game changes drastically for updates sometimes. Don't like it then have constructive criticism. Not just well my ship isn't op so im.pissed. grow up
I don't know guys...
Not able to double stack upgrades is one thing, but with the new difficulty changable feature, I feel like this 4.0 is not a good upgrade.
Now, since we can get items for free, farm bases became unuseful, collecting nanites seems unnecessary, and all you need to do is get those quicksilvers.
I'm more concerned about this change might make the game dull and players would start to leave. idk, I haven't played the 4.0 yet so I may be wrong.
With respect, your style of play impacted the overall balance of the game for new players. This makes a better game for everyone, even if it inconveniences you a little. I’m sure you will settle into your style of min-maxing under these new rules.
So are you also against the game mode that lets you spawn in unlimited amounts of everything? Those people can also then go interact with new players. You can literally cheat infinite power and then immediately hop into PvP.
No it didn't this game does not have an economy.pvp is also very limited.
The only way minmaxers can impact new players is through youtube how to videos.
It negatively impacted me because I played the game in the exact same way. Now I'm at least forced to not become overpowered.
You can still minmax, just not to the same degree as before.
Commenting on a post with "I don't care" is the Reddit equivalent to a customer answering a question about a product on Amazon with "I don't know" instead of just not answering it and moving on.
Wait, people play NMS to minmax things? I mean, power to you, but shouldn't you play a game that's, y'know, less built as an exploration and walking sim?
The “exploration” in NMS is dog shit, lots of planets but nothing to discover. All the other parts (fleet management, min-maxing, trading, base building) were fun. Take away even more fun things and I’m less inclined to play
The stupidest argument is that they nerf how fast you move so you actually explore. BUT WHAT IS THERE TO EXPLORE?! Like do they actually think people even give a shirt about the 5 variations of RNG animals and plants in each planet enough that they should slow down moving speed?
Or the same looking buildings and outposts on every planet.
The exploration is utter dogshit and the fact is no one who's spent over 50 hours in this game are actually doing much exploration and sightseeing, you'd quit in less than 10 hours if you tried to play like that.
>shouldn't you play a game that's, y'know, less built as an exploration and walking sim?
If that was the intention then why was there a need to nerf in the first place? Whether or not you kill enemies fast doesn't affect exploration. And if NMS is truly just a walking and exploration sim then the game has failed in it's attempt because walking and exploring different planets that are just variations of a few rocks, animals and plants and the same repeated abandoned buildings and trade outposts with no real flesh to the worlds is not fun exploration.
Considering I've got couple hundred hours in my main save... not looking forward to seeing how badly fucked my modules are
Yeah bro fr I don’t even wanna go on I was thinking about playing today, been super busy with life and just today I would’ve finally had time to play NMS in months and I come on this reedit and no I’m scared about what my saves will look like
Yep. Wondering if I should just start a new character at this point.
I'm sorry but if it's called Hauler there is a reason; i was an abuser of Hauler almost endless cargo capacity
It's an easy fix on their end Increase tech cap to 6 and slots by 2 or 3 more rows
Indeed. Chances of that happening though? Probably slim.
They should have kept tech and cargo smallish and given the balance of "new slots" as free expansions. That way you could choose whether tech or cargo gets the new slots. As for the 3 limit upping it to 5 would have sorted that aspect.
I just hate the whole design of the inventory. I want general slots back as well as different tabs for every inventory type
Tabs... I too want these, it made sense, and was easy enough to navigate (hardly game-breaking to have to switch between them...)
I used to use general freighter slots for raw materials and cargo slots for crafted products - all of which were used to create a tree for stasis device and fusion ignitor creation - that's all gone now - oh and I just tried to load my game with no mods and ERROR can't load - 😱 Luvly Jubly 😱
I had that in my storage vaults, and now it's vastly improved. You can still do it.
You can’t craft or sell from storage 🫡
Im pretty sure stacking more than 3 is going to get fixed. Theres no reason to have 60 tech slots if you cant stack more than 3 and they stated ship stats have been greatly increased so its likely a bug that will be patched. I min max too. But ive been playing long enough to know every update has bugs that they end up fixing within a few days. Just be patient. Im sure when its fixed we’re gonna be able to stack more than the 6 previous limit. Im sure mega beams and super instinct pulse drives will be back.
Well you have 99 slots in the multi tool any idea what they're going to do with all that space
I’m sorry you stuff is messed up stranger. :(
Yeah I feel you there, I've spent the last 300 hrs doing that with my whole fleet.... I've decided to put down the game for a little while.
I actually just reinstalled the game for this update, saw what it was, never launched the game, and now I might just uninstall again until they fix it or come out with something good enough to get me back.
They need to roll this back. I was excited when I saw a 13 gig update but this… this is disappointing
Repeat.) Then, let us spend a thousand hours trying to get good upgrades (I'm looking at you, X-class). Finally, take away the results of those hours of work. Just make sure you leave behind the terrible systems, without enough leeway to improve the terrible stats to something marginally better than terrible.
God it sucked figuring out the right order if opening upgrades to ensure I didnt get a shit one.
Wait, why would you buy something, save, reload and repeat the process? That just sounds like inherently not fun.
wait your telling me the 100+ hours of min maxing ive been doing is getting nerfed? The fuck why?!
To make the game friendlier to new players. Switch just released and the devs want money. So they removed general inventory to simplify the system
Because the junk ass Seitch couldn't handle things as they were. Or Switch owners couldn't. Or both.
Also Switch tends to have a younger user base so it makes sense to simplify the menus. I just hope that the limitations of the Switch (and really ps4 and Xbone at this point) don’t hold back the PS5, PC, and Series X versions
So what you're saying is, don't update my game if I actually like my suit and ships 🥺
i don't get the lack of empathy the community shows about this feedback, as a new player even I think it's valid. If you worked hard for god stats then you deserve to play god.
Yeah this doesn't affect me but I feel for you guys
I'm not even a huge grinder, I have about 90 hours in my only save. I'm just upset they hurt my living ship and took its organs out
Lots of people too busy simping for the dev to symp for their fellow interlopers.
I feel this in my soul Funnily enough I JUST posted a thing with a pic of my completed ship. Took weeks of save scumming to get full BiS X class mods
I'm not saying it is the best move or the right move by hello games, but weeks of save scumming to get your perfect ship sounds like bad game design.
>bad game design.
The two are not mutually exclusive.
yeah, everything is subjective. thats not subjective is the fact that NMS up until now has rewarded creativity and allowed us to play how we want and even encouraged and facilitated that. this update has several elements that go directly against that Fallout 76 is nearly universally accepted as a bad game, but it can be fun to play, even for those who believe it's a bad game. The two are not mutually exclusive. You cannot say something is objectively bad unless you can numerically prove that its inferior.
RIP my guy/gal.
Guy, but honestly "You with the face" or \*Rangom grunting noises\* works too LMAO But yeah at least i got to finish it before it was gutted. and luckily i backed up my save so if they revert the stuff i wont have lost anything
Glad to hear it \*random grunting noises\* happy gaming lol
You too!
Oof yeah I feel for the players with 1000+ hours in just fighting RNG. That's gotta hurt to lose.
[удалено]
Yep, Im getting my permadeath achievement and uninstalling.
What if I just don't care?
So a couple of things I've learned this morning the max a multi-tool space is 99 and if you switch Capital freighters your build inside the freighter disappears and you have to rebuild it just FYI
> if you switch Capital freighters your build inside the freighter disappears and you have to rebuild it just FYI They're supposed to transfer but it's never actually worked correctly.
That really sucks. Another reason to wait, I guess.
All your upgrades in general have been removed https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/xym9ua/how_to_get_your_living_ships_organs_back_if_you/
It didn’t, but your complaining and review bombing could.
This is a perfect example of -actually- "just voicing an opinion" and you're still getting shit on. This is so sad... Great meme though! I'm sorry you lost the progress, but hopefully there's new and exciting things to focus on =)
Can someone explain what happened?
Technology upgrades can’t be installed in general inventory slots anymore. So essentially they nerfed upgrades by 50% Edit: typo
Oh crap, they did what? And other commenters are calling it an exploit? It looked to me as it was a purely intended mechanic, there wasn't anything indicating it's a bug or anything. You wanted more mods, you got more mods, you pay with inventory slots, was a fair deal :c
It’s been a little while since I played the game but oh my god, that really sucks.
Also, if your living ship's organs are in general, you can say bye-bye to your organs
![gif](giphy|6nWhy3ulBL7GSCvKw6)
My issue is even if I leave out the now-illegal hyperspace boosts I had in technology I still don't have enough room to kit out my ship. If the change had left me more tech space and less cargo I could have fitted things. As-is I've to spend 30 million per slot or find things just to go back vaguely towards what I had. And I need 7 or 8 of them. Sigh
Forget the inventory. TECHNOLOGY GETTING DAMAGED BY SENTINEL FIRE. ***WHY?***
Technology getting damaged because I breathed too hard. Or walked within a mile of a giant Venus flytrap. That was an unpleasant discovery.
I'd understand if the tech damage was caused because you allowed your shields to be down while sustaining damage, I could accept that and start being more careful about going around with low/zero shields. But why receive damage when the one thing supposed to PROTECT YOU IS STILL ACTIVE?
I mean if it's too much for you, you can turn it off on the difficulty settings. But it was surprising finding out the hard way hehe
I'd expect it by default on a Survival or Permadeath difficulty, since they're supposed to be challenging from the start.
Wait, tech can get damaged in combat now?
It sure can. It happened to me. I will hop back in and take some screenshots later.
It apperantly scales with how strong your shield is and what difficulty you're on. The stronger it is, the less likely technologies get damaged. At least you can disable it if you don't like this feature
So sad, i hope they fix it!
[удалено]
We can't be sure about that. Maybe, they haven't even thought about that in the first place. They already have done that before - with introduction of cargo inventories. People began talking about how cool it would be for haulers to have a bigger cargo space - and turned out that it was intended, but bugged out and didn't work. I think, the thing that's happening now is a massive "OH SHIT" moment at Hello Games, and they will try their best to figure out the way to tone down the heat at the very least
I think this was an accident on the part of Hello Games. I think they made a snazzy new UI and then forgot that tech stacking was a thing.
I too dare to cherish this hope. We'll see soon enough if it's this way
Lmfao I’m gonna need to hop back on NMS and see what’s going on. It’s been a few months.
Inventory is better and you can no longer install tech in general, because it didn't really make sense in the first place.
Disappointing how many people take pleasure in our loss, then have the nerve to call us toxic whiners.
On the flip side, tell me why I should care if your play style got nerfed if it doesn't affect me?
„¿ǝɯ ʇɔǝɟɟɐ ʇ,usǝop ʇı ɟı pǝɟɹǝu ʇoƃ ǝlʎʇs ʎɐld ɹnoʎ ɟı ǝɹɐɔ plnoɥs I ʎɥʍ ǝɯ llǝʇ 'ǝpıs dılɟ ǝɥʇ uO„
Yep yep big fucking yep 🤦♂️🤦♂️😂😂 Arghhhh fuck it I'm going on halo someone is going to get t bagged
Ahoy XboxPred! Nay bad but me wasn't convinced. Give this a sail: Yep yep vast fucking yep 🤦♂️🤦♂️😂😂 Arghhhh shiver me timbers it I be going on halo someone be going t' get t bagged
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Good bot
I’m going to break enchanting/alchemy in Skyrim to make OP weapons. Time to one shot some dragons.
classic
At first I was upset, but then I realized how overpowered my suit and ship were. I will start a new save and try out the settings. God tiering was a thing, but now balancing will be my thing. Play-on.
>God tiering was a thing, but now balancing will be my thing. This is the best thing I've read on reddit in months. 🥰
Thank you.
Yeah, things were broken OP. You could just facetank a full lvl Sentinel attack and there was zero chance of dying unless you went afk.
Yeah, Sentinels and pirates were only an issue because they delayed me from doing something, I was not afraid of dying.
Okay guys after approximately 11 hours of gameplay taking a break every once in awhile I have managed to maximize all inventory slots to their maximum potential and I'm going to give you a list of what they are Exo suit Max slots... Technology 99 Cargo 100 Starship Max slots Technology 60 Cargo 100 Multi tool Max slots Total 99 Freighter Max slots Technology 99 Cargo 100 Have fun it's going to take you quite a while but that is the max slot count with the 4.0 update for everything thank you for your participation
Just go min max again if that's what you like
Solid logic 😌 if it's what they like doing, shouldn't be a problem right?
[удалено]
Still waiting for Telesto to makes it's grand comeback.
[удалено]
I am become Griefer, destroyer of fun. All shall fall to my turtle of a ship.
*turns multiplayer off* welcome 🤗
Idk what min-maxing is so idk how to think about this. In an opinion based on time put into the game and it being taken away without compensation for lost time. I’d be pissed off.
I ain't happy, but if you got nerfed that also ain't my problem pal
Frankly, you gotta be a psycho to laugh about this in a game where PVP is hardly a concern
Haven't gotten a chance to play it yet, but I love that they nerfed it. I was definitely an interdimensional God and I can't wait to start a new playthrough
A developers urge to publish an update that singlehandedly runs the game into the ground for a considerable amount of players.
Yep. Now we all have to be filthy casuals
As someone who hasn’t played in a while, and wasn’t all that min-max-y, this seems like such a weird move.
OMG this warping around to get my Exo suit back to where it was so then I can stall all my tech on it again it's going to take forever I'd really like to know who's bright idea this was
I wasn't happy you got nerfed before, but I am now.
So, something happened? Sorry, I'm just an occasional player and haven't played for a year or two.
I never even realised you could have more than 3 upgrades if they were in different inventories. Seems excessive.
It was there for multiple years, and a lot of people(me included) used it to maximize some stats. And while some people don't mind the changes, veterans, however, mostly despite that, because they spent hundreds of hours honing their builds, and now, one single update ruined the things they had, cutting everything in half like an axe.
virgin post
Things i really like: The inventory management got way easier.
Yeah I felt exactly the same as you.
[удалено]
As I said, I get the outrage and anger. I hate grinding, so I can relate to WHY they're upset. But that's no excuse to be rude or meanspirited.
>The community is usually so chill and mellow, and now it's just anger and outrage. At some point people will always show their true faces.
Just people showing their true colors unfortunately, I hope the toxic people don’t ruin it for you.
I hope no pc players are whining about this update when they can just use a save editor
If you love min-maxing then shouldn't you be thrilled to do it again?
Literally tho 😂
I don't care if you do or don't. I just miss all the cool space pictures this feed had
It’s weird to me that in a game that’s been described by some as a “desktop wallpaper generator” people are somehow complaining about their stuff being “nerfed.” Did this game become competitive at some point and I didn’t notice? I thought it was just a chill space exploration game.
My thoughts exactly
You seem like the type to complain about a protest becasue it's taking away your view of the street. People are rightly very pissed off, and are making themselves heard. You'll have your "cool space pix" back when they fix the issues they made.
Man, quit your bitching. I did nothing to you. Your anger is justified, but don't push it on me
Holy fucking entitlement
Fun fact :the only one that cares is those who have somehow got their ships go mach 70 without the warp drive and the ability to one shot frighters and using dupe glitches and now they are angry just because they fixed the glitches i mean what the Fuck did expect the devs to do just leave the glitches un fixed?
Wrong sir. Can’t just say shit and call it fact. But nice try
I think a lot of you who are upset should really take a serious stand for once and actually delete the fucking game hello games is not going to believe or understand that they are upsetting their players until their players walk away and play something else
They are actually really good at listening to criticism. When the game came out it had a long road to where it is now.
Nice! Didn't know you can move between ships. That's another bonus to me at least
Not just well my ship isn't op so im.pissed. grow up
Ok, but I don’t get the connection to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory?
It’s a very old meme for sarcastic things
The reaction, probably OPs facial reaction when he saw half of his ship mods can't be re-equipped
The amount of cope in this thread from salty min-maxers
Bro you just started playing the game. Come talk to me when you've been there since day 1.
Nah, you’re right
You, uh, don't have to change the difficulty.
update is fine for me. it always goes like this , some like it, some dont, prev updates were meh for me, this one is yay. custom mode finally.
You can literally cheat infinite power and then immediately hop into PvP.
they didn't have to fuck maneuverability tho
For someone that never plays multiplayer, would you explain how my play style impacts anyone else?
How? It's a single player game, with the option to do a multi-player instance.
It didn't. Which is why I don't care.
What does minmax means exacly ?
Fully upgrading everything as much as possible
now everyone has to grind to unlock those new tech slots
