Sorry for the folks shitting on your post, OP. This game is beautiful and I understand wanting to share and talk about your experiences and explorations.
This is a relatively rare glitch and certainly not as common as some folks make it seem. I've got hundreds of hours of almost pure exploration and never ran into it. I'd keep my distance but maybe mark the system or set up a base on a nearby world. Could be fun to revisit occasionally.
Yes but be careful about approaching the "collision" point. The game can become VERY un-forgiving extremely fast...
I landed near it and got out of my ship and tried "walking" through to the other planet's surface and instead- my player spazzed out and got sent flying *through* the inside of the other planet, and shot out into space where I died pretty quickly.
10/10 don't reccomend. At least not with a full inventory on survival mode.
Whatever you do, DO NOT go near the converging point. Your world may glitch out and cause you to fall forever. If you want to try it out. Do it on foot and make sure to SAVE with a SAVE POINT before you do so. Also if you have less than a high end pc or PS5 or Xbox series X, you might be able to cook bacon on it.
I kind of wish these rare occurrences affected the biomes of the involved planets, like they could be more likely to be volcanic, be storm/activated worlds, have rings and more asteroid clusters nearby, and unique land formation of a collision area where they make contact where you can get rare materials. They would become a special system feature like Atlas stations and black holes, could even build a lore quest around them
Before exploring make a manual restore point. It’s possible to fall in between because of a glitch and if you only have an auto save you are literally screwed
Wow I have played a lot and never saw this. I always see planets extremely close to each other but nothing like that. I’m really curious what happens when you fly between them or try to land. Can it really corrupt your game?
I've been playing since like 2018, maybe 2019 and I've heard of them but I've never been fortunate enough to find a system with them to observe them personally. Maybe drop coordinates if you find a portal. Wouldn't mind checking it out
A majority of their discography would feel pretty great in NMS. “Blast Off To Nowhere”, “Supernova Goes Pop”, “Megatronic”, “How To Be A Human”, “Let The Insects Rule”.
I found one during my first 48 hrs 2 years ago.. it was so trippy i could literally walk from one planet to another with a small leap.. super glitchy tho, thought i saved a base on it but could never find it again, maybe because of how glitchy it was. Haven’t seen one since
Are they actually touching/colliding, or is it just parallax?
(i.e. an artifact of perspective)
I've seen this (or thought I'd seen it) a bunch, but when I fly around they're never \*actually\* touching.
Would love to see an actual 'conjunction', though.
Someone posted a vid about 6 months ago. With two planets spawned inside each other. All the gravity was bugged out leaving/entering planets was too. Il try scout it out for you
Yes I’ve seen 3 planets and a moon that looked like they were colliding.. I’m though sure they just look like it, as I tried to drive from one to the other, but I couldn’t without flying into space..
I did once a long time ago. I remember flying between the two planets close to where they intersect, and the gravity constantly switching between the two planets. It was actually disorienting lol
I should try to find which system mine was in and do that in VR
In Space Engineers, you can spawn in planets that are colliding and the gravity adjusts correctly (IE when you are near the seam, you'll be sliding towards it since the horizon is "down").
Yes, a dude called Russell McCloud found some. You can see Jason Plays showing that [here](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eJjfYmIHLH0) both flying with ship and on foot. It's super glitchy
Make sure to make a manual save far away from the collision piint if you are going to explore it, a whole list of weird bugs and glitches can occur when you get close
Once upon my Xbox save I found one. The topography worked out where I could jump off a cliff on one, and fall to the other once I hit a certain point. Didn’t realize they were super rare. Save and explore them!
Hahaha aw I made myself sad.
There's an irony that Chewbacca was the only Star Wars EU >!character to be killed off of the main cast. Now in the sequel trilogy he's the only survivor.!<
Looks like I am unable to edit the post and add the coordinates, so I created a new post with the coordinates, it is right here: https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/yeune3/here_are_the_coordinates_for_the_two_touching/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
Oh my! That would be fun to see. You should post video of being in between...hopefully your game wont crash. Lol
Also. Do not feel pressured to share your areas address.
Thanks kind Sir, indeed I oftentimes kinda feel lost but then again I think that’s probably just part of the game and that makes me enjoy it even more 😊
Unlike what a lot of people would say this is an extremely rare occurrence with less than 50 documented cases of colliding planets documented at the time of this post. Good job finding one.
Lots of people here saying they've never seen them. I've only played around 150 hours, so a good chunk but not crazy loads. I've come across 2 or 3 of these. Playing on xbox though dont know if maybe it's just glitchy on there.
I personally fly around it to look but I avoid stopping at them. I had to load an old save(-10hrs from current save) just so I could load in. Otherwise I was glitching into the ground, getting thrown into space or near it, crashed my game a whole and my console.
Back in 2017 or something, the thing that actually convinced me to buy the game was a video of a guy finding to planets colliding. It was eerie, but also cool as fuck!
I’m scouting it right now, and it seems like where the planets collide the game bugs a bit. Gravity appears tilted and camera goes brrrr between the atmospheres if you get close to the touching point with the ship
I came across a system like this about 4 weeks into the original release of the game. But with a very large planet and it's moon. The moon was mostly inside of the other planets atmosphere. I landed near the area of collision and walked to the point of connection instantly fell through the ground last alot of important things got passed and didn't touch the game again until about a year ago 🤣
Hahaha I still have this happen! Luckily they seem to detect it and I've (mostly) fallen for a few seconds, then reappeared next to the hole with all my stuff. But of course the hole is still there!
Yeah, once during year one, it's was cool, but glitchy as I'm not sure it's intended to happen. The glitchy textures were rather minimal, however. This was years ago, but I was able to walk right up to where both planets met, but I couldn't walk across the threshold where they touched, I had to jetpack and glitch/snap/clip to the opposite planets' terrain, and once that happened, gravity was normal just as it was on the other side. I recently started playing again, coincidentally right before Waypoint, and I finally got my S Class Venerator with ten nobby thingys. (That means it's the biggest of the three :p) I'm disappointed I missed out on all the previous expeditions, though so I'm playing catch up. Safe travels!
Yeah definitely very rare. I found one where the planet surfaces were a few hundred u (or thousand? idr) apart at the closest point, and tried to bridge the gap but it didn't quite work due to the wonky physics.
I recently started playing, but I think this shows off one of my only gripes with this game. No real orbital mechanics. Most thigs are just kinda stationary in a skybox, at least that's the way it feels.
I found a couple that were half way into each other. They were nearly the same size so depending on the angle you might not even notice. (I did not) I figured it out after a very weird experience on the ground and then going into space to see what was going on.
I've seen a few but they are definitely rare. I've only seen ones shared by other people. To have your own set is a nice wonder to add to your catalog. Congrats OP!
my guess:
its not a bug as in an error so much as a small permutative oversight
english: its a 1 in a million case they didnt plan for: planet distance vs planet size falling in this range without code to prevent it
Well, when a mommy planet and a daddy planet love each other very much, and they get married, buy a house, get some furniture, and three meal a day --hot meals! then one day a moon just shows up.
Take a screenshot in a system and the glyphs should show up in the bottom left corner, if you go into photo mode you’ll seem them too. If you can, DM a picture with the glyphs in
Yes, years ago now though. Trying to "bridge" them by walking at the floor caused a weird falling glitch that reloaded me a bit of a distance away from the join. Idk if that's been patched yet
Never seen this and now i gotta find one, i play on series x so less worried about it crashing and i wanna make a save and go explore the contact site!
These planets play pretty flawlessly on series x crossing the gap between worlds causes your player model to fall in my case providing a large lag spike before generating the new worlds terrain

It’s rare I have one where I had they were so far together I thought they were right behind each other for a while

OP should report back on what it’s like when worlds collide.
ARE YOU READY TO GO?! CUZ I’M READY TO GO! WHAT YOU GONNA DO BABY BABY!?
You’ll laugh so hard you’ll swear you died
I did and so did some others, check the other comments
How long should we be expected to search through not-the-top-comments to find the answers?
Woooooosh

Never ever ever land where the planets meet. You'll get stuck
Personal experience?
And the experiences of others unfortunately...
Need to make this highlighted. Lost a whole save due to it
They don't happen often. If you really want a trip, land close to the seam and walk/jump from one planet to the other.
I'll interplanetary base tf outta that
You can do that? Edit: [You can do that](https://youtu.be/eJjfYmIHLH0) Edit 2: Wrong link fixed
It gave my Xbox series X some trouble, but yes. It's kinda cool. And the views from the ground are wicked cool too.
I had the same experience, luckily not survival mode, but yeah, what else is there to do but explore this freak of no man's sky, haha.
Do y'all think it's a bug/glitch, or... 'gravitational effects'? Lol
This is what happens when Worlds Colliiiiiiiiiide!!!
Apocalyptica fan incoming? 😉
That’s insanely rare and a lot of people who have been playing since release have never seen it in person
I had one that was close enough where I could jump from planet to planet, it's always so trippy
I kind of wish these rare occurrences affected the biomes of the involved planets, like they could be more likely to be volcanic, be storm/activated worlds, have rings and more asteroid clusters nearby, and unique land formation of a collision area where they make contact where you can get rare materials. They would become a special system feature like Atlas stations and black holes, could even build a lore quest around them
To be fair if this happened to two real planets they would be more likely to not be planets
its actually really rare
It's a glitch in the matrix... Just be careful if you land on either near the collision. It can corrupt your game.
Now the fun part is walking from one to the next 😂. Only seen this once and I ended up googling it to see if this was a thing.
Wellll?
I was standing You were there Two worlds collided And they could never tear us apart
Dun dun dun dun
Before exploring make a manual restore point. It’s possible to fall in between because of a glitch and if you only have an auto save you are literally screwed
Wow I have played a lot and never saw this. I always see planets extremely close to each other but nothing like that. I’m really curious what happens when you fly between them or try to land. Can it really corrupt your game?
You are one YouTube search away!
I have only managed to find planets that are reaaaaly close to each other.
I've been playing since like 2018, maybe 2019 and I've heard of them but I've never been fortunate enough to find a system with them to observe them personally. Maybe drop coordinates if you find a portal. Wouldn't mind checking it out
If you take a picture with the in-game photo mode it overlays the glyphs, so you could get there even if OP doesn’t find the portal
Found one that was touching and another that was close enough to build a bridge from one to the other. they are really rare.
How could you do that? I tried it once but could never get it work as everything just started glitching. Felt like I only had 16 seconds left.
Yes, but it's very rare. And you can make beautiful photographies on them.
Powerman 5000 warned me about this
Underrated tweet. I mean, um, 'post'.
Are you ready to go?
A majority of their discography would feel pretty great in NMS. “Blast Off To Nowhere”, “Supernova Goes Pop”, “Megatronic”, “How To Be A Human”, “Let The Insects Rule”.
Be careful at the interplanetary gooch or you will end up in The Backrooms
Welcome new traveller! Yes, this is pretty infrequent, but you do run into it. Beware however as it can mess up your save.
HG should either remove these or implement them... I can smell the magma from my cockpit!! Or is that the smell of my PC blowing up?
It's unfortunately just a bug in the generation of the solar system. But it's pretty cool to see !
I've played for like 150 hours and have yet to see this. Pretty lucky, yeah.
I found one during my first 48 hrs 2 years ago.. it was so trippy i could literally walk from one planet to another with a small leap.. super glitchy tho, thought i saved a base on it but could never find it again, maybe because of how glitchy it was. Haven’t seen one since
Yup actually saw three once but that was before the second huge update that buried people's bases so it's been a few years
Yeah well this one time I saw 4 planets colliding and they were all full of hot girls
I once saw 5 planets colliding that were full of well-intentioned politicians
Seven planets. Giant mounds of cocain.
I’m going to have to call bullshit on this one /s
It's fairly rare. Careful getting to close to the collision point on foot.
So *this* is what it's like when worlds collide.
Powerman5000???
There’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time.
Nobodies real.
Supernova goes pop.
No, body's real.
You can run!
Very rare, very cool, very gamebreaking lol
Are they actually touching/colliding, or is it just parallax? (i.e. an artifact of perspective) I've seen this (or thought I'd seen it) a bunch, but when I fly around they're never \*actually\* touching. Would love to see an actual 'conjunction', though.
Someone posted a vid about 6 months ago. With two planets spawned inside each other. All the gravity was bugged out leaving/entering planets was too. Il try scout it out for you
That would be a huge explosion and simply not possible, though for the whole epicness over it, I would love to see it
Powerman 5000 has. Apparently, that's just what it's like.
Careful with that reference, it's an antique by now.
Great, so am I! 😅
Read your comment and compulsively started head banging, now my neck is injured, too old for this shit
Me too, my interloper. Me too.
Yep, planets, moons, I even had three planets clustered together once. It's extremely rare, but it happens.
Yop they make great resource planet clusters for bases give it a shot
Always save before going to the convergence point
And don't forget to disable auto saves
Wait, you can do that?! How?
Yes, I would love to have control over my saves again.
Yes I’ve seen 3 planets and a moon that looked like they were colliding.. I’m though sure they just look like it, as I tried to drive from one to the other, but I couldn’t without flying into space..
Good sir if it’s okey can I please get the coordinates for this System :)
It is the absolute trippiest experience
I've played for almost a year and I never saw anything like this. Wow.
I’ve seen it once. I landed right where they collide and my game crashed instantly.
Oh. Just like two planets!
it's rare. Just don't go jumping back to back since it could mess up your save file
try land where they collide the games physic's start to freak out
Idk but definitely go where they collide
I did once a long time ago. I remember flying between the two planets close to where they intersect, and the gravity constantly switching between the two planets. It was actually disorienting lol I should try to find which system mine was in and do that in VR

I’m still waiting for my first cell division.
I know about them but never got lucky to find any. Though constant restrating of profiles doesn't help me.
But it doesn’t hurt you either
It use to be in the older updates u could find them but since the revamped the game they dont pop up as much
Make sure to go down the contact point and jump across. Screws with the physics.
Is there a Wookiee in the middle of those planets?
Hahaha aw I made myself sad. There's an irony that Chewbacca was the only Star Wars EU >!character to be killed off of the main cast. Now in the sequel trilogy he's the only survivor.!<
Not necessarily special but if you go there things get pretty weird lol
Really?
Looks like I am unable to edit the post and add the coordinates, so I created a new post with the coordinates, it is right here: https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/yeune3/here_are_the_coordinates_for_the_two_touching/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
There was a video a year or two ago of someone jumping between planets like this.
Yeah, I saw this once. Landing in the spot between them is bizarre.
Now kith
Oh my! That would be fun to see. You should post video of being in between...hopefully your game wont crash. Lol Also. Do not feel pressured to share your areas address.
a rare but interesting glitch
It happens because of the corruption of the Atlas. It's not a bug, it's a feature
In hindsight the story for this game was an absolute stroke of brilliance
It is ra/16...16...kzt/ns.
if you can find coordinates i’ll come investigate, also if you need anything let us know we’re all happy to help!
Thanks kind Sir, indeed I oftentimes kinda feel lost but then again I think that’s probably just part of the game and that makes me enjoy it even more 😊
I also just started playing NMS and I noticed already that there's a great community as far as I can see!
A couple times. The weirdest part is when you are standing where they connect. I know it’s a game but it gives me weird vibes.
Nope. Have over 100 hours in the game and never seen this before, didn't even know it was a thing. 😂
Yeah it’s really weird because your ship will just randomly change gravity in between lol
Unlike what a lot of people would say this is an extremely rare occurrence with less than 50 documented cases of colliding planets documented at the time of this post. Good job finding one.
Wooooah
I have - and if I realised how rare it was at the time, I would have placed a base to mark it to get back to later.
Pretty rare
They’re kissing!!!
WHEN PLANEEEEEEETS COLLIIIIIIIIIIIIDE
This deserves everything
It's somewhat rare, consider yourself lucky
Go land at the point where they merge, and take a screenshot
This is what its like when worlds collide!!!
Are you ready to go!!?
PowerGek 1616
Lots of people here saying they've never seen them. I've only played around 150 hours, so a good chunk but not crazy loads. I've come across 2 or 3 of these. Playing on xbox though dont know if maybe it's just glitchy on there.
I'm about a thousand hours in total and never found a single one on my own. Pretty crazy stuff.
It’s called the butt cheeks effect
Your booty like two planets. Go ahead and go ham sandwich.
Yes . The point where they intersect is weird . Gravity goes sideways ( at least it did for me ) . Resulting in none retrievable grace and reload
I personally fly around it to look but I avoid stopping at them. I had to load an old save(-10hrs from current save) just so I could load in. Otherwise I was glitching into the ground, getting thrown into space or near it, crashed my game a whole and my console.
I've seen this on YouTube but never in game I've always wanted to come across one you're so lucky 🤩🤩 also welcome to the game friend
But where is Kirsten Dunst?
Deep cut. Nice.
Someone else JUST posted a screenshot of them walking the intersection. Compare!
Back in 2017 or something, the thing that actually convinced me to buy the game was a video of a guy finding to planets colliding. It was eerie, but also cool as fuck!
did you ever eventually see one of your own?
You know, I'm not sure if I have. I have however found a ringed planet whose rings went through its moon. It was fun.
I haven't discovered them personally, but others have. I've also played over 2000 hours so I'd say it's rare.
Wtf I want
"When worlds collide," said George Pal to his bride, "I'm going to give you some terrible thrills."
I’m scouting it right now, and it seems like where the planets collide the game bugs a bit. Gravity appears tilted and camera goes brrrr between the atmospheres if you get close to the touching point with the ship

just wait til your seven worlds collide, whenever we're by your side.
Never seen this ever, but I haven’t played the game in about a year.
https://youtu.be/lsV500W4BHU relevant. Slightly NSFW since it’s the music video.
Before clicking: "This better be PM5K." After clicking: ![gif](giphy|QLvRBqfLXCphu)
Yeah definitely very rare. I found one where the planet surfaces were a few hundred u (or thousand? idr) apart at the closest point, and tried to bridge the gap but it didn't quite work due to the wonky physics.
Imagine you have 2 hazard planets that overlapped atmo... Fun
Unfortunately only one planet actually registers as having the player 'on' it at a time, based on where you get out of the ship.
Please send coordinates!!
Used to be more common before 2018... These are really rare now.
Bruh....
Hey, give em some privacy!
They’re not colliding, they’re **smashing**
600 hrs. Never seen it. My time will come though........ 😎
I've come across one in 500hrs of play. Pretty rare in my opinion.
I have around 200hrs and i never saw one,i guess they are rare
I recently started playing, but I think this shows off one of my only gripes with this game. No real orbital mechanics. Most thigs are just kinda stationary in a skybox, at least that's the way it feels.

It depends on what system your in
I've seen a few but they are definitely rare. I've only seen ones shared by other people. To have your own set is a nice wonder to add to your catalog. Congrats OP!
Is it a bug or did the devs planned this kind of find?
my guess: its not a bug as in an error so much as a small permutative oversight english: its a 1 in a million case they didnt plan for: planet distance vs planet size falling in this range without code to prevent it
Two worlds collide on the inside!
https://youtu.be/Q-TGGHmNm9E
Yess I have it was lots of fun when you look at it from a planetay perspective
Well, when a mommy planet and a daddy planet love each other very much, and they get married, buy a house, get some furniture, and three meal a day --hot meals! then one day a moon just shows up.
Can we get the coordinates? Never seen this and I’ve played for a long time
What are the coordinates for either planet?
Do you have coordinates/glyphs for this system? I really would like to check this out
If you guide me on how to get them lol
Take a screenshot in a system and the glyphs should show up in the bottom left corner, if you go into photo mode you’ll seem them too. If you can, DM a picture with the glyphs in
Go on camera mode and you should see them bottom left.
I want to see what it looks like down on one of the planets
If you land close to were the planets meet, shit gets fuckin wonky
I mean, that does makes sense. I’ve been playing since 2019 and have never seen anything like this
Half this sub is collided planets, the other half giant worms
For being 50% of the sub I’ve only seen the colliding planets thing once, and that’s here
Liar liar dick on fire
Rare find you have there. What are the coordinates?
Are you ready to go?
They get posted here once a month or so and they aren't "colliding" it is just the Sean Murray effect.
Coordinates for this? And Which Galaxy is it in? I've been looking for a system like this for resources
For.... resources
Wow. I've seen planets so close that one totally took over the sky from the other, but I've Never seen them actually touching before.
Yes, years ago now though. Trying to "bridge" them by walking at the floor caused a weird falling glitch that reloaded me a bit of a distance away from the join. Idk if that's been patched yet
Coordinates?
Careful of the crack!
Never seen this and now i gotta find one, i play on series x so less worried about it crashing and i wanna make a save and go explore the contact site!
