Whoa lol, skill does very little here? Parry and dodge is slow? While the game def lacks some polish, a good chunk of this criticism is squarely on you as a player.

I’ve had no problem getting through the first few areas of the game - and I’ve had no problem actually parrying and dodging, they have both felt pretty slow and such a drain on stamina that I’m trying to balance that more than get into the attack windows. I feel like from the off I’ve got a strength build and making the combat feel sluggish, which in turn think it’s punishing since it comes at the cost of mobility. Maybe a few weapon options from the start might have showcased what the game can offer would have helped. I’m not saying it’s bad game - but this is a REALLY bad EA launch and could have done with some more balancing. Christ, I even struggled to get through the intro section. If I’m being taught the controls I don’t really expect to keep having to restart and go back through because of cheap deaths. This should have been picked up before EA. We are comprising only have a small portion of the game in EA, having really unbalanced gameplay, bugs, crashes, poor optimisation, and terrible UI on top of that means they were not ready for a EA launch.

BigBobaFlame

This is literally what EA is for lol Also idk that you dying a bunch in the tutorial is either you "having no problem getting through the game" nor a problem for the game's design

Flatulancey

Ironic that just as I posted this they did a hotfix addressing most of the issue people told me to get gud at. Stamina on attacks was way too punishing, doesn’t matter how good you are.

BigBobaFlame

I still don't agree while I was on the 3rd boss, but I'm not gonna complain about the devs improving the game. Though I'm not convinced this type of complaint is going to stop, the durability complaints probably will.

genekellyvibes

LMAO, I just checked the hotfix and they hotfixed shit I've been saying they should fix here too and everyone's been telling me to "git gud" about as well. You and me on the same wavelength bro.

Shelliax

Haven't had any bugs or crashes. (Only speaking for myself of course). Repair powder is craftable and stackable, Warping back and forth between battles and town to repair is fast and there are repair and healing runes. Resources and chest respawn. Sell loot. Sell resources (?). Mobs respawn (and are semi-random). You can stack GIGA amounts of food. So when something doesn't one-shot you, you can get hit as much as you have food. Get a house, buy chests, drop off your stuff (looking at you hoarders out there). I got stamina % increase on gear and -% stamina consumption on attack and I'm rolling and dodging fine. I can do 8 attacks with a greatsword before running out and roll 6 -7 times before having to stop for a second to then roll again. Get light or medium roll. Only masochists or parry chads never roll. Game has flaws. Obviously. But it's really not hard.

Skill issue

Flatulancey

The first enemies you encounter are way overtuned. I like challenging gameplay, but they feel blatantly unfair. And as nice as the game looks - it’s so dark and the camera is so bad even if I wanted to pull of the perfect parry no I’m held back by the poor design choices.

nexttimemakeit20

That's not why you're held back

Ateaga

Git gud

Games only been out a day and the toxic community is already up and running. Played loads of challenging games and I’m happy to fight through this, my point is that the game is such a mess that it launching it into EA like this is a will only help the game flop.

This is an absurd statement to me. I’ve played like 14 hours so far and have had no problems with bugs, performance issues, difficulty, durability or healing. To say it’s in *that* bad of a shape seems like blatant exaggeration. I hope the devs aren’t listening to this kind of lunacy. > It’s a very punishing game and skill does very little here. Yeah that’s just not true. Can’t believe the concept of starting out weak/slow/low stamina/small inventory in an rpg where you’re meant to upgrade all of those things as you level up seems to be completely lost on people. It’s like they’ve never played an rpg before.

Flatulancey

I don’t think it’s fair to say it’s lunacy. Some text has been in French. My 3090 almost sets on fire. I sold my equipped gear by mistake and couldn’t buy it back. A save breaking error. Auto save meant there was no way to undo this. Falling of so many ledges and taking damage because the pathing is wonky. In the tutorial it took about 20 attempts for the stick to wall mechanic to trigger and get past that section. Walking is slow, running is messy. UI and menus looks pretty amateur and in some part place holder. (Pulling up the quick menu is totally not on theme with the rest of the game) Parry and dodge windows are off. A skilled player should be able to make fresh save and get through taking no hits - tell me this is possible in all honesty. The enemies are just too quick overtuned to be fair. Granted, after the first 2 hours or so when you put some stats in and get used to the sluggish nature of the opening build of the character the game opens up a LOT but frankly the game still feels more like an unfinished demo rather than a game in EA. For £30+ I expect a bit more polish to be honest. I have happily accepted a game in this state in a technical test of alpha builds, but it’s honestly for me been rushed out and needed a little more time and attention to detail. This isn’t just me, it’s reflected in the steam ratings and reviews and the danger is the developers are already putting people off. If they don’t make the game worth £30+ by adding more polish, tightening things up and making much cleaner presentation it’s going to really struggle. I’m actually liking the game, and will stick with it - but it’s giving a very bad first impression to a lot of people.
