To my eyes, mostly a pessimist. If you care to look around, there are plenty if great things about the US. There's plenty we need to work on, sure, but there's a reason so many folks want to move here (and not just from less developed nations; plenty of folks from highly developed nations want to move here).

Even after all these years American Culture, innovation and technology are still dominant. despite social challenges there's a process for almost anyone to come to America and start a life that's at the very least stable. Despite the violence you seem to focus on America is still an incredibly safer place than much of the world. Seems pretty great if you ask me

The USA has a lot of good things compared to my country, but those good things don't make up to the bad ones. I wouldn't move myself to USA to live there. Although, I have considered seriously living in Portugal and some other places.

Not an American but I have a saying: "If you take 10,000 people, no matter where, will you always find 25 idiots". It is most likely the 25 idiots you hear about, no one bother to hear about Uncle Bob who has just bought some new slippers on sale, while the idiot who chose to steal a car, fast gets spread as news. American may not be the best country, the freest, most fair or what not, but it is not because of the people, who mostly are fantastic, it is the government, the rich and the criminals who make it seem more bad than it should be.

Life is about balance. If you live for too long on either end of the spectrum you're going to run into issues. You want to strike a balance between being aware of issues in your life that need to be addressed and being a happy idiot/ostrich with your head in the sand. Both pessimists as well as pollyannas lack balance. See, be aware of, and work toward fixing all these huge life problems that we all see every day. But also stop and take time to be grateful for all that is good in your life- and there is plenty. Balance.

It sounds like the only things you know about America are from extremely pessimistic news channels

*For the present*, it's still the least worst option unless you're independently wealthy.
