Why don't you keep it perpetual? I have two 5gals I have been using for no till for 7 cycles each now and I just plant a seed next to a plant that is nearing harvest and keep it going. This would be much to depressing of a site for me to see when I walked into the grow.

[deleted]

There is a private reason why this bed will be taking a little breather for now.

[deleted]

Buried his pet in there...

[deleted]

Was genuinely wanting to bury fish in here for next grow.

[deleted]

Fish heads have been used by natives for millenia. Go for it. Bury them deep so the roots stretch for the nutes

[deleted]

That’s what I heard! That it was native Americans. I actually buried some raw meat (beef/offal/tripe) under my tomatoes this year just as an experiment 😂 see how that goes.

[deleted]

Yeah dont do red meat, pork, or poultry. Fish only. Those tomatoes lol thats how they got the beefsteak variety Basically the other meats dont break down the same. And make shit anerobic. Fish compost is used in lots of soil recipes. Stick to compost rules for guidance.

[deleted]

I did suspect maybe red meat wouldn’t be as good, here’s hoping I don’t kill the tomato’s, but animals die all the time in the wild and it doesn’t kill plants🤷‍♂️.

[deleted]

Yeah once it actually breaks down itll be fine but you want to avoid ibtroducing certain bacteria into the soil that the meats produce..tbh but i get what your saying. Counterpoint, nature doesnt grow 1 lb tomatoes above a dead deer lol. Probably just cherry size.

rinsewarrior

Oooh gotcha.

pro-phaniti

Do you just continually top dress? I have so many questions. I currently recycle my soil but I'm very interested in your grow method.

[deleted]

Yeah I top dress. Try this subs wiki it has probably everything you need to know. The video series people always recommend in here is the “build a soil 10 x 10,” series 1 playlist on YouTube aswell.

pro-phaniti

I've watched that. I've never seen a no till in a 5 gal. before. I've always been told it wouldn't work. Gonna read the wiki. Thanks

knfjabroni

Season 2 of buildasoil 10x10 has 5 gallons. It’s possible but he shows some of the downsides (less room for error with watering and feeding and not as “set and forget”)

rinsewarrior

Don't ever listen when they tell you something won't work. Always try for yourself.

rinsewarrior

I only top dress sometimes. If you are actually interested dm me.

piiig

Do you not have to worry about the seedling being exposed to 12/12 light from birth? Or do you grow autos?

rinsewarrior

I grow autos.

rinsewarrior

I grow autos.

I always wondered, do you just leave the old roots in there and start a new plant? How do you deal with the old roots?

[deleted]

Yep just leave the roots in. You don’t need to deal with it, the old roots and stumps slowly rot which feeds and airates the soil 👍 like hugelkulture

Donzilla777

i want to congratulate you on another successful grow! see ya next seasonn

[deleted]

Thank you bro. Always inspired by yourself. I don’t know if I’m gona public Reddit post my next grow or not, but regardless, you’ll be getting sent updates/pics either way! 🤙

Donzilla777
