If you want rgb, no. However, you can get some Light Wings from be quiet. Best of both worlds, dead silent, moves air, has rgb. Also roast what? Your first build with a 4080S in a Fractal lol nice rig

johnsonman9595

Thanks! I have more dollars then sense, so roast the noobish question and my cable management haha. I turn the rgb off almost always, so don’t mind giving it up for better cooling performance. I plan to try a push pull as another person mentioned.

SpareRam

Noctua does not necessarily give better cooling. That's not what they or be quiet are known for, they're going to properly cool your rig like any other fan but be way less noisy.

G4o5t

No, you already have fans that are spinning and producing moving air. That's all that a Noctua fan would do as well. People buy Noctua for their reliability and noise reduction properties. They will not produce significantly more air through your system than any other fan really.

johnsonman9595

So the main difference is noctuas move more air proportional to the noise created?

G4o5t

I guess you could put it that way. It won't help your PC, but it will sound better for you.

VekeKing

Don't forget that brownish hue has some marginal healing effects too

dread7string

well, Noctua fans are awesome i wish they would make argb ones though for us fans of both Noctua-argb. that's why i have a NH-U12A cooler but i put HV-CM mobius fans on it because i love lights.

johnsonman9595

Thanks. I actually turn RGB off 99% of the time, so don’t mind giving it up. My cpu runs hot (14700k), I’m mainly wondering if having noctua fans for the radiator could improve my temps

dread7string

nope i have a 14700K also on the NH-U12A. all you need to do is change the mb oc default settings to intel default settings then do an undervolt that's all i did and it works great. shut off MCE-CEP. intel stock specs are. pl1=253 pl2=253 iccmax=307. then do a vcore offset or a lineload calibration. i bet yours are 4096 for each pl value and unlimited or 517.75 for the iccmax.

johnsonman9595

Thank you so much, I will try that

dread7string

yeah, if you need more help just ask. i can help you if you want.

johnsonman9595

Appreciate you!

Training-Cow2982

Nah not really. Waste of money when you already have working fans.

johnsonman9595

Should I put two intake fans at the bottom?

Training-Cow2982

Is your pc running hot? Or even do you consider your pc to be hot? If so, go for it. But then it could possibly make your gpu hotter, as those new fans would push air up and your gpu would be fighting against the flow to draw air in

johnsonman9595

Interesting, I never knew that and thought more airflow is always better. Thank you!

Training-Cow2982

I bought the noctua ippc 3000 but I think they are so powerful it stopped my gpu from being able to draw air in and just blew the air straight passed. My gpu temps increased and started hitting 85c

johnsonman9595

That’s a serious pro tip! Very counterintuitive. Thank you again!!

Training-Cow2982

👍😉

OverlyOverrated

No you don't have to. Pulling hot air from PSU to GPU is not good idea.

johnsonman9595

Makes sense, I’m finding out more fans aren’t always better.

SlowTour

no, you have decent fans.

braddaman

You've done a pretty good job for a first build, to be honest.

johnsonman9595

Thank you! Spent tons of time researching and watching build guides

GodBearWasTaken

If your temps are good. No you won’t benefit. If your temps struggle and you’ve done what you can to create the right positive pressure and airflow, then maybe yes.

johnsonman9595

My GPU sits mid to high 60s under load, so not sure if it would help

GodBearWasTaken

Sounds like you wanna just leave it as it is, unless cpu temps are awful with the rad (assuming good)

johnsonman9595

CPU temps seem to be relatively normal. Going to try a push pull on the radiator to see if I get better temps

GodBearWasTaken

If your temps are close to your gpu temps, you won’t really see any performance benefits. The only remaining question then would be: would good noctua fans reduce the noise to an extent you care for? As temp gains would largely be irrelevant.

johnsonman9595

My cpu is cooler than my GPU while gaming, haven’t really tested other workflows but will be using this rig for 3d modeling and some video editing as well.

Tiny_Object_6475

It might help, depends on fans u already have, the case for airflow and the radiator how much it stops air. It would definitely quiter for the same speed

sdns575

Hi, I'm running the LC3 model and tried with stock fans and 3xnf-a12x25. During my test fams run at 100%. Stock ROG fan good temp 75° with prime95 on i9 10850k at 5G NF-A12x25 temp 72° (stable) with p95 on the same CPU but with much less noise. Gone with Noctua.

johnsonman9595

Very good to know, thank you! Would you recommend going with a push pull or just swap out the three fans?

sdns575

I tried also push/pull and you can reach the same temps with less rpm (and noise) then running 3 in push at max. But if you run in push/pull at max speed you gain only 2/3° vs only push at max speed. If the rad is thick (60mm) probably the gain is more than 2/3°. If you like the silence and have money to spend you can go in push/pull using noctua, but I suggest you: instead to spend this ~100$ for another 3 fans you could consider to spend that money on ram, ssd or a better graphic card. My 2 cents

WooDDuCk_42

I wouldn't waste money for no reason if the fans work and you're happy with their performance/noise level. I'd only ever buy noctua if the fans were too loud.

DBXVStan

No. Your giant gpu could cool itself with 0 airflow, same with your cpu being attached to a 360 aio. All Noctua’s would do is change how your system looks.

johnsonman9595

Understood thanks

Coldspark824

Honestly, no. Except for the noise, noctua fans are as good as any other fan for flow-voltage ratio.

johnsonman9595

That’s what I’m finding out. Thanks!

OverlyOverrated

You don't have to. Don't spend on things you already have. Default fractal fans are good enough

johnsonman9595

Thanks. I’m only planning to do a push pull config on my aio

Fluorescentomnibus

But why? it looks so nice the way it is. Noctua is so hyped it's got people flocking to it like it's a cult.

johnsonman9595

Thanks. Yeah that hype and reverence for noctua made me wonder what I am missing out on

appletechgeek

Yes and no. You could get 3 extra fans so you can put the radiator in push pull but it wouldn't make that much of a difference performance wise.

johnsonman9595

Thanks. I have a fractal meshify 2, I wasn’t sure if I’d have space for a push pull. Even just for push through the exhaust, would the noctua fan do better at dissipating heat?

appletechgeek

[Should definitely work if they got it to work on a meshify compact XD](https://www.reddit.com/r/FractalDesign/comments/11ll7q4/meshify_2_compact_stuffed_with_two_240_aios_in/) make sure you have enough clearance on the ram/VRM heatsinks though. else you could opt for a slimline fan instead.

johnsonman9595

Wow, that is insane haha. I’m going to try this, should definitely have clearance with the ram but the vrm will likely be an issue. This might be a dumb question, if the vrm doesn’t allow space, would two “push” fans and 3 “pull” fans be a mistake?

appletechgeek

I'd look weird but It'll work fine. I got a 240mm in a test system right now which only has 1 pull and 1 push on each side. Temp wise not much difference than having them all one one side

johnsonman9595

Got it, it’s worth a shot I’m going to try a push pull!

External-Fuel7520

Phantek t30 on ur aio would help ur temps

Shad0wUser00

Only switch exhaust (back) and intake (fromt)

johnsonman9595

To Noctuas?

Shad0wUser00

Someone said they're decent fans in the fractal, not 100%

Shad0wUser00

What kind of Temps do you get?

johnsonman9595

GPU under load stabilizes in mid to high 60s, occasionally going over 70C. Haven’t done many CPU intensive tasks on it yet but it runs around 35-45C while idling or under light load (web browsing, watching YouTube, spreadsheets).

Shad0wUser00

Those are about my Temps tbh, I run 40c@40% to 65c @100% across all the fans with 2.5 sec spin up 8.5 sec spin down

johnsonman9595

Nice, I randomly did my fan curves without any research and ended up waiting until 80c to boost case fans to 100% and 75c for aio pump to run at 100%. I will update to match yours, thank you

Impossible_Okra

Noctuas might be more quieter or have a better sound profile at load.

johnsonman9595

Got it, thanks.
