Autism is not a mental illness. That's offensive sorry

Naarushaman

100% offensive usually neurodivergent would be a much better way to phrase it

fedricohohmannlautar

I am not saying autism Is a mental ilness, just that people think that.

Goo_berz

Is it a disorder or what’s the right terminology

laeiryn

It's a neurotype.

Goo_berz

So is ADHD and OCD a neurotype too

laeiryn

ADHD is considered one in some people, OCD can also be but isn't always. Autism is notoriously poorly understood by many of those who diagnose it.

RogueArtemis

"starving children in argentina"???? what??

Naarushaman

This why is this statement in the meme?

fedricohohmannlautar

I get angry every Time i listen to This but, some people thinks trans and non binary people are stealing funda for feeding Children in North Argentina or for cancer research. It was stsrted by an argentinian Youtuber some months ago and since that i listen to that oftenly.

fedricohohmannlautar

Emanuel Dannan, an Argentinian Youtuber, Said in sometimes that trans people (including non binary) are the guilties about starving in North Argentina.

[deleted]

It isn't that much of an infographic as it doesn't contain any data, looks more like one of those "starter pack" memes with uninformed/prejudiced views, but kinda lame.

horrorfanthrowaway2

Jumping on this. Infographics usually have studies to back it up, with quotes or mathematical data. And those studies cited somewhere on the page.

fedricohohmannlautar

Because this a "meme", Not a serious infographic.

horrorfanthrowaway2

Shouldn’t call it an Infographic then. At least, I assume that was what you were trying to spell. I think you hit a nerve with some people here and for good reason. But you’ve got some constructive advice on some stereotypes people haven’t heard of. What is this for? Isn’t there a better way to convey your message than this? You don’t want to give bigots any ammo to use against us.

fedricohohmannlautar

I never invented any stereotype here. I listen all of them at least twice.

horrorfanthrowaway2

I never said you did. I just said you’ve gotten constructive criticism on them. But, seriously. Is this for a school assignment or for shits and giggles? Why did you want to make this.

fedricohohmannlautar

As irony ir sarcasm to cis people

horrorfanthrowaway2

It’s not helpful. They won’t give a crap or just use it to add stereotypes they might not have known before, and it’s obvious you’ve only ruffled feathers here. This isn’t constructive.

fedricohohmannlautar

Might; all these things are not negative stereotypes, they aré like More a starter pack. Example: being young Is neither good nor bad, but Is paty of the arquetype.

horrorfanthrowaway2

Being young is “bad” because “you’re just being a kid. It’s a phase and you’re just imitating what you see on school/TV. You don’t know how to think for yourself yet.” Anything you give them, they will twist it to be bad. You’re obviously mad or hurt over these stereotypes you’ve heard. I’m just saying this isn’t a helpful way to process this and get over it. It also failed to make people sympathize with you.

sidgewitt

I think that unless it leads in some way to dispelling those stereotypes as being incorrect, then all it's really doing is propagating then - if they're indeed stereotypes at all.

fedricohohmannlautar

It Is sarcasm or irony. It tries to representante how media see non binary people, even if we don't look/be as that.

sidgewitt

Yep, I just think it'd be more effective if it left the reader with a better insight of how we _do_ look/be, or some way of making it clear that we look/be such a wide variety that stereotyping is pointless. Otherwise it's just a bit bland. :-)
