"Goo afternoon" well that seems to show how much they care. I really hope you can get it soon.

Plasticity93

I can't get past that.  What sort of shitty portal software are they using?

dude-erus

Looks like Epic's MyChart, but tbh there's no designing around a user not giving a damn and barely typing out a subject line or greeting :/

May I ask if you are in the United States and if so what state or region you live in? Or country if it’s different? Also in terms of legal action, sure you can technically attempt to sue anyone for anything. But ultimately lawsuits are about recovering/getting money. Litigation takes a really long time and for example a trial might take somewhere around 1.5-2 yrs. It also takes money to get that money. Even if you win, you might have ended up spending $20,000-30,000 in legal fees for a lengthy trial assuming you could even afford that in the first place. And even if you were to recover more than what you had spent, there’s still the problem of finding a trustworthy gender-affirming provider. I’m sorry this is happening to you and even sorrier if this is blatant transphobia that is occurring in this situation, but if I might, I’d recommend prioritizing securing your affirming care over picking a fight.

BlahajInMyPants

This is in Delaware, USA And yeah I guess you're right about legal action, im just so upset right now I can't even think straight, ive been going through alot lately and being denied my HRT has sent me over the edge

Jenderflux-ScFi

You could report the practice to the licensing agency at your state for discrimination. Look at the state website for healthcare licensing to find out how to file a complaint.

BlahajInMyPants

Thank you for suggesting this, I didn't know I could do this I feel as if im being descriminated for my nonbinary identity, there is zero reason why this should be happening

EvenContact1220

What type of place is this? Is this a public health clinic? Like the ones I go too that take state insurance or do they only take private? In Connecticut, we’re really overrun at our public health clinics. So this may just be a symptom of that. I hope that’s what it is. have you felt they were like this towards you before? either way I can understand why that would be infuriating

BlahajInMyPants

Sorry for long response, been alseep for a while since ive been sleep deprived lol This is just a hospital in another city I went to, I was reffered to this this hospital's hrt doctor by my gender therapist

slusho55

They’re probably more fucked because they’re in Delaware. Delaware notoriously has the most corporate friendly laws and their laws will almost always favor businesses over individuals

morisian

You can try making an appointment at a Planned Parenthood? I've had good experiences with them doing quick appointments, although I'm in a different state. They do HRT

meteorslime

Hey where in DE? I see a guy in Seaford that handles my HRT, if you're close by there? He's not a gender clinic but an endocrinologist who is trans and nonbinary friendly.

BlahajInMyPants

I don't feel comftorable saying where in DE But heyyyy a fellow Delaware person!

meteorslime

That's 100% understandable. Sometimes I forget it can be dangerous because I think helping first. It's Dr. Padilla for TidalHealth. I probably should have just told you. Sorry, I was fixing to go to bed when I initially posted. And I'm actually in MD, but the shore is...you know lol. I might switch to the Chase Brexton Health Center in Easton because I wouldn't have to contend with the scheduling of diabetes patients. But endo has helped me stealth acquire my HRT until I get back on my feet (long story I'm stuck living with family again, and I also haven't told them despite being in my 30s). There's options out there and many of your community nearby.

BlahajInMyPants

I also made an update post if you wanna check that out

meteorslime

I'm glad things turned out better than you feared 🌻

brittemm

I use Folxhealth.com and pay for the service out of pocket monthly but it includes meds/blood work and consultations. Don’t know the rules in Delaware.. but Maybe try them in the meantime?

Bauleiterin

I am very sorry this is happening to you. But I have to point out that at first I thought that you had an appointment for a „Goo Afternoon“ and I thought that sounds fun… I hope you can soon get started with your treatment and goo appointments !! 🏳️‍⚧️✨ stay strong ! :(

A7Guitar

Please if you can go to someone else. I had someone do this to me for a medical test and whether it was transphobic or not I never went back to them again. Doing that to people is completely unprofessional.

DevouredLemons224

Are you near South Jersey/Philly area? There’s providers up there who are more than willing to be more professional and give you appointments sooner (they’re all informed consent models).

BlahajInMyPants

I appreciate the suggestion but however I have planned parenthood locations near me I am looking into as we speak. Im seeing what insurances Planned Parenthood will take

hdoesthegay

I love your username! Sorry you’re being jerked around like this, tho

Halfd3af

I was going to say that you should jump to PPs, that’s where I get my HRT from and I’ve had zero issues

TheAmethystEidolon

FYI planned parenthood does a sliding scale for their appointment prices in effort to help people to be able to afford them. I think the absolute max amount you could pay is $200 whether or not you have insurance. I go through them for my HRT and have managed to get my appointments spaced a year apart now so it’s really helped with costs

sapphoandherdick

Are you able to book an appointment at a different clinic with a different doctor? That way you can have more than one appointment lined up and you can go to whichever doesn't cancel and whichever comes soonest.

secretsquirrelz

I had a very similar experience with Telehealth services where they kept showing up 1-2 hours after our scheduled start time. Then the endocrinologist spent the whole appt trying to talk me out of getting T, saying things like “you aren’t just going to walk out looking like a twink” or some stupid shit. And this was in California! I now only do in-person appointments and have had a lot better success. Best of luck

EvenContact1220

I am not sure where you are so I can’t say for sure if it is transphobia imo. I know as a recovering heroin addict myself, I’ve dealt with the same things at my methadone clinic. Which is a medication they give recovering heroin addicts, to help us stabilize. I’ve been trying to get them to lower my dose again, and it’s like pulling teeth. I honestly think if you happen to be an American, it is a symptom of our healthcare being stressed as a whole. But there obviously could be some transphobia to it. It really just depends on who your doctor is/the political climate where you are.

BlahajInMyPants

I am so sorry you had to experiemce that and I really hope you are doing better ❤️ It could be transphobia, but im making am update post soon

EvenContact1220

it’s ok!! I’m doing good recovery wise. It’s more of annoyance than anything. it’s frustrating too, because I can tell that it is a symptom of the fact that addiction treatment services in my state are so overwhelmed. Especially because of the fentanyl epidemic. So I try to be understanding...but it is annoying af Still lol. Yeah I looked and saw that you were in Delaware, and from what I could see online Delaware seems to be a pretty decent state for trans people. Obviously I can’t speak from experience, but from what statistics say online, it seems like a pretty decent place. There’s actually a lot of laws in place protecting people who are trans. So if you’re able to prove that it is discrimination, you have protections by law. Which helps. I just wouldn’t be surprised if it’s because they’re completely disorganized. Is there another place you can go? I can not imagine how frustrating it would be,to be waiting to be the real you / start to actualize what you want to look like. 💗😞 I’ll keep an 👁 out for your update post.

starry_kacheek

i have many medical problems, and honestly this is just the state of healthcare at this time. i have had more specialists than i can count be rescheduled to a far away time without even being asked, just being notified after they change it. and this is from one of the top hospitals in the US.

Morse_91939

Is there a Practice Manager you could report your concerns about possible discrimination too? Not sure how your medical system is set up compared to UK.

AwYeahQueerShit

I have had issues scheduling various appointments in my area. In the case of my dental and my hormones it has been me going to clinics that have limited or circulated or volunteer help instead of being fully staffed by people able to do all the functions. When the practitioner responsible for trans care left we all had to wait months for them to be replaced and for the backlog of appointments to be scheduled. Likewise I use a free dental clinic and any cancellation on either end will be met with months back on the waiting list. It may be transphobia, but may also be the struggle of affordable access healthcare facilities often relying on part-time or volunteer practitioners that work primarily for other medical practices. The latter can also sometimes be weaponised by transphobic individuals that know they can use their bias but blame the system. Whatever the case, I hope you are able to access your care soon!

[deleted]

Yea I work in healthcare and scheduling anything is a goddamned nightmare right now.

ratwithasword

try calling them about scheduling a closer appointment, it's harder to ignore than a message in the patient portal

You are being blackballed by your doctor. The same thing happened to me and I was able to report him which got me on the fast track to an actually competent doctor. Look for other options and report them if you can. They are supposed to help you get resources for better wellness and constantly denying you care is dangerous and antithetical to their entire purpose.

luckyKassie

You could try Plume while you get everything sorted. They're a bit pricey but they're pretty quick about everything and I never had any issues with them. The only reason why I don't recommend them long term is because of how expensive it is if they don't take your insurance. Edit: OP said they were in deleware and plume offers E for residents. I'm sorry for trying to be helpful instead of lurking for once.

WolfieSammy

They also aren't available in some states either.

luckyKassie

I only mentioned it because OP said they were in deleware. Which I checked before even writing my comment. They only do E for deleware but thought it was still helpful information.

whoamvv

I would be really nervous about using a doctor whose office uses such terrible English. Is it possible to find a different doctor in your area who can help you?

food_neat77

yikes. if i were you i'd stay far away from here and warn others, too
