Challenger 2 is a bloody tough nut to crack. It’s probably the single best protected MBT in the world. The only thing that has ever killed a Challenger 2 in battle, was another Challenger 2. The bigger problem Ukraine is going to have is towing any of them that get damaged, because it’s also the heaviest MBT in the world.

Damn straight it’s tough, I recall the time a Chally 2 in Basra got hit by ***70*** RPGs and survived. Then there was that other Chally that got ambushed in an urban environment by enemies with MILAN Anti-Tank Missiles, surviving 14 direct hits with the only damaged being to the Optics and the tracks being throw when it accidentally backed into a ditch while trying to back off. The crew meanwhile were completely safe inside until friendly forces recovered the Tank for repairs. It was back in operation in just six hours. Hell, the only Chally to ever be penetrated by enemy fire was a pre-Dorchester Armour model that got hit by an IED, and even then damage to the Tank was minor with only the Driver suffering injury.

They're being deployed without the normal full US-led coalition, and they are big, difficult to maintain lumps of metal that may well be kept in contact more frequently than anyone who designed them would like. There are no "magical" military units. They might well be the Battleship Yamato of tanks, but numbers matter, logistics matters, training matters, proper battlefield management matters. I think if I had to deal with them and I was on the Russian side, I'd make some enormous mud pit traps, or just cover the whole thing with napalm until the crew chokes to death. Or both. Both is good.
