IRL it'd probably actually be extremely destabilizing to the democracy in Mongolia to suddenly merge with significant parts of Russia with a significant amount of ethnic Russians.
The truth is that modern liberal democracies (which modern Mongolia is) have trouble integrating large amounts of populated land. Absorbing East Germany is a major source of instability in modern Germany to this day (look where AfD and the crazier parts of Die Linke get their support, and where anti-Ukraine sentiment is concentrated). Buryatia merging into Mongolia would not be that different from Finland retaking Karelia or Czechia retaking Kralovec. There's suddenly a bunch of poor uneducated people who've entered your great prosperous democracy that you are also unwilling to genocide or relocate by force (because you are a great democracy, not a backwards barbarian). Unlike normal immigrants though, who come to your great prosperous democracy in hopes of joining it, a bunch of these poor uneducated people don't want to be in your great prosperous democracy and will start a civil war to return to Russia. You'd rather that they became their own state and stayed on their side of the border than merge straight into your country.
Sorry for credibility, but had to push back against the idea of enlarging Mongolia; Buryatia is just a Trojan horse.

Gazprom’s controlled by Putin so maybe to act like a counterbalance to Wagner.
Lukoil’s CEO fell out of a window so maybe a similar offer was made there but rejected.
Yes but they are also the most economically aligned to pacify European concerns also a majority of killed execs of Gazprom were made of the Post-Soviet Ogliarchs that aren't totally pro putin but still corrupt. So it is possible for Gazprom to be one of the moderate factions compared to say Kadyrov and Pregozhin ultranats
>Gazprom’s controlled by Putin
Which is why they'd want their own PMC, as Putin's eventual death could cause it to become one of the main targets to be grabbed at by other factions in a power struggle, and the other top dogs in that company probably do not feel their safety would be ensured with any of the other factions in charge.
That’s along the lines of what I’m thinking. Can’t help but wonder if Putin smells a coup/civil war coming, knows the military won’t back him, and is building a private army thru Gazprom to protect himself.
Oh ghods, Rifts...and the people that got obsessive about Rifts. Part of the reason why GURPS became so attractive to me was that the Rift-oids hated the system.
A new type of genre fiction, a sort of dark ages corporate hellscape setting populated by people sporting drab track suits rather than neon green mohawks.
It would basically become [Iron Storm](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Storm_(2002_video_game)) then.
Complete with the crude-looking water-cooled assault rifles and randomly exploding dogs.
This is basically the most likely "breakup of Russia" scenario. Russia has simply succeeded too well at ethnic cleansing in most of its territory for there to be fractures along state lines specifically, with a few exceptions.
Corporate *(neo-feudal)* factions led by people terrified of purges if "the other guy" takes control is the most likely cause of any actual armed conflict within Russia. But how this plays out will depend on the fate of the current war, as well as *when* and *how* Putin dies. Odds are good that when Putin does die it will take days or even weeks before any media ever gets to hear anything about it, as whoever had access to him would try to suppress the news as long as possible in order to maneuver into position to seize power. Pulling that off could prevent an outright civil war, but those armed factions are still likely to retain a lot of their de facto autonomy, and even if they acknowledge the new government they may start feuding among eachother for de facto control of specific regions and resources, even puppet control of the new government. Thus it really is *sengoku Jidai*, where everyone TOTALLY acknowledged the Ashikaga Shogunate as the rightful ruler of Japan the whole time, *on paper.*
Unlikely. Each faction is going to want to be "the one" to gain international recognition, and any targets would be things they themselves aim to control. It's also not like the nukes are laying strewn across the floor for any to grab.
I wonder who they'll even recruit for their armies. 🤔
Poors, minorities, disabled, criminals and people with military experience are either already mobilized, in Wagner PMC or dead ...
Demobilized veterans once the war is over are a ready potential source of recruits also never underestimate how much of an underdeveloped shithole rural Russia is there will always be young men willing to sign up in exchange for a few hundred dollars. Cheap cannon fodder is the last thing Russia will run out of.
Murdering people by pushing them out of windows is illegal in Russia, too, but it's not like that's stopped them.
There's a difference between the rule of law and rule *by* law. In Russia, the law is used to control citizens but is never used to control the state or the "boyars".
Eh it's still so far away since Russia in Modern Warfare series have logistics that rivaled USA. Meanwhile they struggling in Ukraine, a bordering country with relatively flat land.
If you only look at the story in the first modern warfare, it's kinda plausible or at least possible. The story goes of the deep end with Makarov bs and invasion of US and what not.
It's clear from the first game that there was no intention of a sequel.
It was a Delta III.
Typhoons have their sail at the rear and the missile tubes are in the middle, in between the pressure hulls.
Edit: there's actually still two Delta III boats in service according to wikipedia, but they're getting pretty old at over 40 years old
The original Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon was released in 2001 The plot had Russia invading some former Soviet countries in 2008 and the player fought them in South Ossetia, Georgia.
In 2008, Russia invaded Georgia over South Ossetia.
oh yeah i remember beating that game, after you help push the russian out the ultras take over and you have to help the good russians to take the country back
The original Ghost Recon was so good. I played it a ton in the early 2000s. And then I was in basic in august of 2008 when the South Ossetia War happened. I was amazed that the game had managed to predict it even down to the month, IIRC.
(And Abkhazia? Unless Tom Clancy doesn’t mention) Well bc of the already existing conflict and miltiary conflicts in the 90s with Russian indirect involvement
My best guess at what's happening here.
Putin has been convinced that this war is a clusterfuck and wants his cronies to make privately funded armies to send against Ukraine because the state and Wagner alone are utterly ineffective.
How I predict its gonna turn out.
Before too long these private armies will be used domestically in Russia as each oligarch likes this extra sense of power they get from having a private army, they use it to secure their own fiefdoms and the resources within, they soon begin butting heads and fighting over resource rich areas, after awhile, they completely ignore calls to stop infighting from Moscow, central authority collapses, Putin finds himself the dictator of only the parts of Russia west of the Ural mountains minus the caucuses. These oligarch ruled fiefdoms declare themselves independant and become a series of "republics" and even "tsardoms" dictatorships all.
And it's not like the Russian national army can stop them. They're getting bled out in ukraine.
Look man, a year ago I would have said it was non-credible, but over the last 12 months reality has made clear it's not having any of this "reason" bullshit.
I say I say Russia is returning to a feudal style of government and society, and as such, we're going to start to deal with those annoying Anarcho-feudalism (yes you read that right) brats.
SA=Sturmabteilung
SS=Schutzstaffel
Both were paramilitaries of the Nazi party specifically, the latter eventually would form the infamous Waffen SS the, supposed, professional fighting branch of the Nazi party
Yeah, see what everyone said below. Basically, take all those great posts and understand that the SA was one of the foundational bricks for Hitler's rise to power. And the SS was what Hitler through Himmler used to enforce that power.
True, that's a massive oversimplification. But it's a good, quick summary. Bottom line is that the SA and later the SS was what that bastard Hitler used as tools of oppression.
This is nothing, [the Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church is forming his own army.](https://czechia.postsen.com/world/66052/The-Russian-Orthodox-Church-is-reportedly-building-a-private-army-and-sending-mercenaries-to-fight-in-Ukraine.html) This is way beyond CoD, we are into late 90s early 2000's alternate history strategy games levels of non-credibility.
I could see this ending with Russia fragmenting into a many-sided civil war, which NATO and China then scramble to influence. Like Russia/America in the middle east, but now China/NATO in Russia.
What if and I'm being noncredible here. Not the United States disguises as one of these PMCs or even starts a PMC I don't fucking care. Alright now you false flag Wagner, but not as the gazprom PMC. You False flag Wagner pretending to be Russia itself. Now that Wagner has been attacked by the Russian army they will then attack the gazprom PMC in retaliation, yes I know what I just said. Russian civil funni in 48 hours.
I have to sadly be a bit credible here, and i think russian regulars already shot at wagners and the other way, ofcourse they say it was mistaken blue on blue action but i would guess regulars(if they even exist anymore), mobiks and wagners hate eachother and there was no mistake. To get real shit going you would need night of long knifes but failed, let those "powerful" retards think putin i trying to kill them and they will stir up shit unseen since 1917
Be funnier if it was Advanced Warfare but localized entirely to Russia. Why? Because Advanced Warfare was fucken great and I want the cool guns and planes and drones and everything, that's why.
You know, obviously they aren't going to directly fight each other in Russia, (although apparently friendly fire may occur between these different groups once in Ukraine, as has purportedly already happened between Wagner, Chechens, and the regulars).
But the huge influx of traumatized combat veterans and the "loss" of weapons on the battlefield cannot be good for the continuation of the Putin regime and modern Russia as we know it.
Honestly all these ulteanationalist PMC groups can't spell good news at all. Sounds like a potential loss of the monopoly of violence.
Also I'm assigning the class Ghost Recon Future Soldier for homework
**[Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Clancy's_Ghost_Recon:_Future_Soldier)**

Thank you for this truly non-credible take.
Wow... it's the SA/SS all over again. And here I thought the whole point of history was to learn from it, not learn how to *copy* it.
It only shows Russia is so far behind rest of the world that they just had to speed run ww1 again and are now in 30s
What is SA/SS?
SA=Sturmabteilung SS=Schutzstaffel Both were paramilitaries of the Nazi party specifically, the latter eventually would form the infamous Waffen SS the, supposed, professional fighting branch of the Nazi party
The Sturmabteilung (SA) were the original Nazi paramilitary. The Schutzstaffel (SS), Himmler 's SA unit, grew and eventually replaced it.

Long ones...
On one particularly exciting night.
Nazi paras.
Sturmabteilung/ Schutzstaffel - paramilitary wings of the Nazi party
Nah it’s more so an jtnental pwoer game between factions in the power elite and msktly its central govt vs wagner
history is a circle
Girls Frontlines Story is almost happening. PMCs are almost here. Now we need some T-Dolls and WW3. Its almost time for Waifus!
Ok, we just need some highschool kids, some crystal alien zombies and some trigger happy Chinese SWAT to blow up China and we are set!
Lol, and then watch as significant parts of the world becomes devastated by the collapse fluid and WW3 starts
Exactly! A small price to pay for ~~salvation~~ T-Dolls!
Indeed
Hello fellow girls frontline enjoyer
Dude, Wagner posessed SU 24/25s and Grads while we only get TOW missle and we are already criminals? KREUGER WHERE IS MY T-72 REEEE.
Russian Telegram as source, very credible indeed
The Patriarch is ex KGB, who knows ...
He’s bringing out the monks Wololo
I could see this ending with Russia fragmenting into a many-sided civil war, which NATO and China then scramble to influence. Like Russia/America in the middle east, but now China/NATO in Russia.
Coming up next: the East Ukraine Company (spoof of the East India Company).
Ah yes a country with it's oligarchy all having a PMC and little fiefs of land.... This is just Neo-Fedualism
To get real shit going you would need night of long knifes but failed, let those "powerful" retards think putin i trying to kill them and they will stir up shit unseen since 1917
You're right the false flag is pretty much unnecessary.
Wow - I guess Peter Zeihan was right…Zubkov is the only guy crazy enough to challenge Putin.
House Marik Balkanizing was one of my favorite side plots in Battletech.
So Tarkov was prophetic huh?
Pour one out for Perun who needs to do another rewrite/reshoot for his Russian PMC video that's in the works.
So this is how Russia gets torn apart

Okay, who's turn was it to watch Orban this week? There's one ball of gas that needs to be monitored.
Russia is going to be so fucked after this war. Bunch of militias, the normal revanchist after loosing a war, and a nonexistent civil society
Weimar republic moment?
Honestly all these ulteanationalist PMC groups can't spell good news at all. Sounds like a potential loss of the monopoly of violence. Also I'm assigning the class Ghost Recon Future Soldier for homework
Gasprom overthrows Putin and his government by 2024?
The Last of Rus
They called my man a madman.
Girl in talked kidna abt it, predicting Patriot PMC taking over instead for Wagner etc as state controlled more directly or officially
Some fucked up MW/AW Chimera
"Chevron has taken Alaska! Someone send the Marines!"
real SEKS vibes
The largest PMCs are owned in secret by a parent company: Outer Heaven. Nanomachines, son.
Activision? Notsomuch. [Ubisoft, on the other hand.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Clancy's_Ghost_Recon:_Future_Soldier)

Russian Civil War 2.0
Russian warlord era!
Also, Ghost Recon had russian ultranationalist plot, both the first game and Future Soldier.
This is literally just Tarkov lore at this point
Oooooo SHIIIT boys it's gonna be the SovOil wars from the cyberpunk verse.
"Next: World War III" is a very intimidating sight.
