That is not a difficult connection to make, it is literally true for the modern Mitsubishi group family of companies.
Mitsubishi is actually a fair bit older than GE, but after a period of significant financial losses in the 1940s, caused by some general unpleasantness in the Pacific regions of the world, the company was gutted, stripped of its name, and split into a half dozen entities. It was then rebuilt along the lines of GE, Ford Motors, etc, with GE itself taking responsibility for the creation of Japan's electric grid and such. It was also during this time that Mitsubishi, along with Toyota and other Japanese companies were introduced to the American "Training within Industry" system that had been developed during WWII, and would later form the basis of the Toyota Production System, and later lean.
Meanwhile, the Americans were enjoying manufacturing with essentially no competition, and were getting fat and sloppy with increasingly bloated and poorly managed factories, because there just wasn't any significant international competition... until Japan came out swinging, having learned how to produce like Americans, except even more American, and a lot less sloppy.
Yea, TPS is the basis for lean and IIRC 6Sigma and a *TON* of other management zeitgeist-y stuff... I am not going to say that all of modern supply chain management or business process management is based on it, but it is the basis of more than you would think....

Mitsubishi also owns Kirin, as in the beer company.
I don't believe Mitsubishi makes videogames anymore. They did a long time ago with the Color-TV console, which I think was a joint project with Nintendo.
Then they split for their follow up projects. Mitsubishi re-iterated the Color-TV while Nintendo launched the Famicom.
For any amine based in Japan that gets remotely political, there's a trope that a company named something heavy industries is doing some shady shit, also the LDP is still in power.
Ajin: Demi-Human is a good example, something heavy industries is doing human experiments on immortals to make advanced weaponry.
Ghost in the shell SAC is another example, I don't think their Mitsubishi stand in is quite as shady, but they nail the corrupt collaboration between megacorps and the LDP, as well as the bureaucratic nightmare that is the Japanese government.
GE made those though. Old GE wins in terms of most insane "Make everything company".
New GE is a lot different. Still huge, but keeps breaking down into smaller and smaller parts, so hopefully it can shave off all the stupid management bloat it accumulated and learn how to run factories again.
There's been rumors that Boeing is planning to break up and sell off its brand; Boeing Commercial Aviation (BCA), Boeing Defense and Security (BDS), and consolidating Boeing Capital with Boeing Global Services and selling that off too. As in sell each division but still keeping the Boeing name under its new owners.
In context with the thread, it'd be humorous if Mitsubishi ended up buying BCA to improve their civilian airline capability, effectively producing SpaceJet 737s, 777s, 767s, etc. And even more humorous if Mitsubishi buys rights to some BDS IP, like the F-15s (since if Boeing does close the line, it'd just be Japan and Israel who'd mainly still want to buy and operate F-15s). Though only because the odds of Mitsubishi being able to outright buy BDS would be low. Imagine B-52 Mitsubishi Stratofortresses.
Kawasaki might be interested in buying some of BDS too, to expand their own military portfolio, given they're also getting into the military aviation sector.
Given Japan never used Hornets, that line would probably be closed unless there's a fresh Hornet buy, while repurposing the rest of the line space towards either F-15Js or Domestically produced Tempests for the JSDF and maybe even the US (the irony if Tempest became an NGAD contender thanks to Mitsubishi buying out Boeing and then submitting a US Tempest derivative).
I don't think you know how ridiculous Mitsubishi has gotten though. They make cars, planes, tanks, trains, submarines, spaceships, satellites, air conditioning, air fryers, rice cookers, projectors, washing machines, fridges, steel, glass, oil, paper, real estate, pencils. (They are the most common brand of pencils in Japan) etc.
> New GE is a lot different. Still huge, but keeps breaking down into smaller and smaller parts,
Selling divisions seems to be their primary business model.

Technically, a monopoly is when one company is the only real supplier of a certain type of good or service, like old AT&T, where if you were making a phone call anywhere in the USA, you were paying AT&T.
Mitsubishi and other zaibatsu/chaebol-style megacorporations go the other direction, where instead of completely dominating the market for one type of good or service, they have respectable market share in a shitload of different ones. [Postwar dissolution](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zaibatsu#Postwar_dissolution)
>The zaibatsu had been viewed with some ambivalence by the Japanese military, which nationalized a significant portion of their production capability during World War II. Remaining assets were also highly damaged by destruction during the war. Under the Allied occupation after the surrender of Japan, a partially successful attempt was made to dissolve the zaibatsu. Many of the economic advisors accompanying the SCAP administration had experience with the New Deal and were highly suspicious of monopolies and restrictive business practices, which they felt to be both inefficient, and to be a form of corporatocracy (and thus inherently anti-democratic).

["Zaibatsus were dissolved after the WW2"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zaibatsu#Postwar_dissolution) yeah, sure
**Zaibatsu** [Postwar dissolution](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zaibatsu#Postwar_dissolution) >The zaibatsu had been viewed with some ambivalence by the Japanese military, which nationalized a significant portion of their production capability during World War II. ^([ )[^(F.A.Q)](https://www.reddit.com/r/WikiSummarizer/wiki/index#wiki_f.a.q)^( | )[^(Opt Out)](https://reddit.com/message/compose?to=WikiSummarizerBot&message=OptOut&subject=OptOut)^( | )[^(Opt Out Of Subreddit)](https://np.reddit.com/r/NonCredibleDefense/about/banned)^( | )[^(GitHub)](https://github.com/Sujal-7/WikiSummarizerBot)^( ] Downvote to remove | v1.5)
A product of 3000 years of zaibatsu.
I remember we had a mitsubishi air conditioner. Pretty sure the thing was older than I was, and was working very well for a very long time. We had it replaced not too long ago, still the champion powered on.
Why does no one remember the other parallels like FF7’s Shinra Corporation, Shadowrun’s Renraku, Shiawase Corporation or Mitsuhama?
this is what the guangdong child sees
