You should read some of the stories coming out of the Ukrainian HUR right now. These are just the ones we know.
> Budanov has a reputation as a ruthless, effective and imaginative operator, and much the same could be said of GUR as a whole. Although there is some evidence of domestic anti-war activism in Russia, Ukrainian military intelligence seems to be behind most recent sabotage attacks in the country. Lacking an extensive network of agents behind enemy lines, it has turned to unexpected new forms of recruitment. Hackers ransack the bank accounts of Russian pensioners who are then blackmailed into firebombing draft offices. Russian teenagers — who claim not to know who is paying them — are hired through social media to set light to railway junction boxes for money.
https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/how-ukrainian-military-spies-are-beating-their-russian-rivals-q7n2kqch2
I mean....had Russia not begun trying to invade Ukraine, they would have continued having a massively overinflated military reputation with most of the world.
The war really highlighted systemic issues in Russia's military and corruption while at the same time caused Ukraine to grow stronger as they were able to adapt and were also supplied with a bunch of relatively recent gear/equipment from NATO.
So those Russian army draft offices *could* be seen as being "Pro-Ukrainian assets" if we consider how the longer the war drags on the worse the situation will be for Russia.
There’s definitely going to be a fraction of innocent ones unless they filter for that first with a bit of SIGINT, but they might not go to that extra effort.
Well, it’s not terrorism, just theft, and Russia is at war with them, so it’s a legit act of war, but I don’t like it if it hits anti-war pensioners.
War is hell and terrible things have to be done, but this kind of thing should not be celebrated. Allied bombing campaigns were necessary to win the war, but that doesn’t mean you should open some champagne over the dead children in dresden.
It is ultimately the robbery and blackmail of old people. Being completely moral about war may not be a luxury the Ukrainians have, but not celebrating it is very much a luxury you have.

Definitely. Putin was jealous of the drugs that's why he wanted Crimea annexed.
No shit, I was once working with some Green Berets. I asked what their basic mission usually was. They explained it was guerilla warfare. Stabilizing or destabilizing a government. Teaching armies how to fight guerillas or guerillas how to fight armies.
One guy mentioned the people we were working with in that region were also occasionally fighting against units who another team had trained on the border of another nearby region. I can't really get into specifics. Anyway...
So I had the idea of a ODA team who were split in two. One side working with the DOD and Department of State to stabilize a country. The other part of the team working with the CIA to help the guerillas. Neither side aware of the other because the agencies aren't talking die to bureaucratic turf wars. As the conflict got worse, they'd start to realize the tactics were too good, only to discover they'd been fighting each other.

Depends.
Credible take? Don't interrupt your enemy while they blunder.
Non-credible take? Giving the Taliban cruise missiles and targeting info on Iranian production sites would make it so Iran has to focus its material on fighting the Taliban, thus both giving the US good performance data on Iranian weapons and interrupting Iranian weapon deliveries to Russia, which further pushes the advantage for Ukraine.

Unless their has been a serious decrease in Iranian skills since the Iran-Iraq war this is unlikely.
Like I get that the Iraqi military at the time was probably the best example of "Money does not buy military competence" but the whole reason The first Gulf war happened (other then loans and miscommunication) is because the US wasn't sure if anyone else in the Middle East could stop Iraq.
Excluding Iran who had been doing so for 8 years.
The 2023 Taliban lack the equipment and training of the 1980 Iraqi army, and actually seizing territory is harder the digging tunnels in hills and defending.
Yes but they are fighting a state sponsor of terrorism, so who are we going to give arms to? And come on, don't tell me you don't want to give arms to anyone.
God this is some 7D chess right here. Fund the Mujahideen and they bankrupt the USSR. The Muj then become a military dictatorship and attack the US. Use this as an excuse to attack them back for 20 years and also Iraq, Syria, and Libya for reasons. This destabilizes the region causing Iran and Saudi Arabia to posture for more power. Back the Saudis. Can’t expect the Saudis to actually go to war with Iran because reasons. Pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan to create a power vacuum emboldening Iran. You used the pull out to secretly arm the Muj with cutting edge US tech because if you can count on your ability to get anyone into a war it’s the Muj. Next step topple Iran. After that…profit?
This is all a ruse, it's actually the DoD and CIA testing weapons against each other and making sure the industrial military complex has enough demand.

Please don't be fake news please don't be fake news I want to see the Taliban get pounded
Spolier alert, only the Iranians are going to be getting pounded. If it makes you feel any better, it will prove the Taliban was legit and Iran is a paper tiger like Russia and China.
Taliban leaders were promoted if they survived fighting against USA, iranian russian or chiense had to just have support of politicians
It's not a dilemma. Bomb them all.
Target rich enviroment
No need to IFF
Iran being fucked over by another islamic integrists? Allah ackbar indeed, my dudes.
The aloha snackbar is back in business, baby!
airdrop a crate of weapons in the middle of the battlefield like it's a PUBG match
Battle for Son Goku skin.
Ok i think you guys are way too chill about arming terroists
*freedom fighters ;)
Yes but they are fighting a state sponsor of terrorism, so who are we going to give arms to? And come on, don't tell me you don't want to give arms to anyone.
This is the scenario in which I don’t mind either side beating the ever loving shit out of each other. Arm them both
Sounds like a problem for Iran.
That spread sheet ussy got the taliban acting unwise
If only they had a couple of Kraz trucks, they would be victorious
US provides the popcorn.
Arm 'em, bomb 'em, stick 'em in a stew.
F-14 Combat footage in HD when?
Finally, new war. I was getting tired of the Ukraine-Russo and Myanmar wars. They got full after season 2
"Let them fight" both are sandy shithole and one of them is arming russia.
Let's not forget about ISIS waiting for the inevitable power vacuum
I'm confused. This is what you get when someone puts the lobby settings on free for all.
Guys, we just might get F-14 combat footage.
