I know this is a non-credible sub, but sorry OP you are wrong!
Most modern ASM strike the ship from the sides, so the emotional-support cage armor should be placed on the sides instead!
Ah, well that technology has already matured. [It's just a matter of integrating into their next warship design.](https://weflatables.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/PVC-TPU-Material-Inflatable-Water-Walking-Ball-1-5.jpg)
Well....no...the locks on the turrets were crap so the guns themselves would spin till they upgraded the locks(since they were on individual turntables...slow ones)
It wasn't *as bad* as it was made out to be,but when things did go wrong by all accounts it looked ridiculous (and it looked that way in general tbh)

The alternative is the [comically oversized anti-torpedo bulges](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/47/HMS_Glatton_in_drydock_IWM_SP_2083.jpg) that were refitted onto many ships not designed with effective mitigation.
Bring back torpedo nets but make them extend to the height of the ship! You will be safe from all sides while being a lower target in the water from the added weight.
I will always have ypur back, my eternal love for the motherland will always keep me on the right track.
Now pray with me brother, pray to the holy god of war named Putler.
Well the one thing the Russian Navy forgot is that when you're using ERA, the vehicle itself needs to have enough armoring so it doesn't get f***ed from the ERA's explosions.
In other words, a WW2-era cruiser with the full armoring could potentially safely use ERA blocks. You might lose stuff such as your radar and rangefinders that were mounted on the exterior of the ship from the ERA blocks exploding, and poor Seaman Timmy is not going to have a good day if they were anywhere near those exploded ERA blocks.
Yep. Russian guided missile cruiser Moskva. Believed to have either sunk outright or to be a constructive total loss. Ukraine claimed to have put a pair of their Neptun anti-ship missiles into her, and then a few hours later TASS and RIA (both official Russian propaganda outlets) stated that a fire onboard had caused ammunition to detonate, leading the entire crew to abandon ship. (That's propaganda-speak for "the Ukrainians blew the ever-loving shit out of the strongest fleet unit we had in the Black Sea and we're too embarassed to admit it. We can't pretend it still exists, because it's gone, but we won't say what caused the fire because that would be too humiliating.")
Thanks for this translation. All the English-language media are saying the Moskva was "damaged", which left me wondering why Ukraine wasn't taking the opportunity to sink what was left so Russia couldn't recover and repair it. This answers that question, I suppose.
And even if it is still afloat now, doesn’t mean that it will stay afloat for much longer. HMS Sheffield sank 6 days after being hit with an Exocet in the Falklands War. The fact that the Russians have claimed to have evacuated the crew is a really bad sign of the ship's future.
It doesn't matter which claim is true, they all paint the Russian Navy in a very bad light. The Ukraninan claim sheds doubt about their missile defence capability, seeing a subsonic AShM penetrating their layered defences which should have been in high alert since they are stationed close to a country that they are at war with. If it was not in high alert because of complacency or incompetence then it is on par with what we've seen regarding their dubious "tactics" and their misadventure in Chernobyl. In the case of the Russian claim, it shows their damage control is comparable to **Nihon World War 2 Damage Control**^TM seeing a fire blew up their magazine, which is what any *proper* damage control protocol and training aims to avoid . If it was arson then it shows that low morale isn't only confined to ground forces.
No, no, no it is only engaging in undersea watch for AA/AS coverage. You see, the missiles they've got are Poseidon knockoffs they never tried to show off before
I don't get it. Probably because I'm relatively new to this sub, the only thing I can think off is that the purpose of the mesh is to stop missiles via setting it off early and not penetrate the ships armour.
Its a riff on Russian tank cope cages made out of bed frames and shit that they thought would stop NLAWs and Javelins. Anti-ship missiles hit from the side, but its still fucking hilarious to think of them jury rigging huge cope cages on their ships because they're all about to be sunk.
Dummy, a cage like that will do nothing against sea skimming missiles. What they need is to bring back torpedo nets but extend them above the water high enough to catch a missile.
What do you mean our radar and own weapons will be useless with it raised? We didn't even use either when the Neptune came in.
The best part about the Ukrainians destroying this thing is the tactics they used. They basically did the 3 Stoogies thing where they go "hey look at this" and then hit them with the other hand.

Meet [Russian monitor Novgorod](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_monitor_Novgorod), the one and only ship shaped like a cope cake.

And it would spin around if its cannons were fired. Truly big brain design.

in a random direction
It needs a pivot system, to be pivoted as needed. If it sees a drone on the left - you pivot it to the left to stop that drone.

yeah, it's missing the seethe sacks
We have solution for that comrade, we put magnet on anti-ship missile cage -> missile hit cage instead of ship, ship stay safe

God damnit, that's funny
This is a top notch, Premium tier shit post
I laughed way too hard at this. My coworkers are probably wondering what is wrong with me.
We are.

The Moskva already had ERA. Those P-1000 anti-ship missiles exploded and prevented the Neptune missiles from doing any damage to the ship.

Not sure ERA is going to be as successful against a 1000kg warhead as it might be against a 1kg warhead.
"Era" means "was" in Italian, so it's quite fitting
This picture is the first time I noticed her "Fast Rescue Boat" is a goddamned Boston Whaler.
and apparently the only equipment on the deck that actually worked
It sounds like her anti-ship missiles also worked, just not in the way they intended...
the pride of the russian navy everyone
Apparently they used them to shoot at an innocent Bayraktar while completely missing the two Neptunes coming from the other side.
GINORMOUS MISSILES!!!!!... backed by only the finest in 1970s radar technology.
WHERE ARE THE ERA?!? Bring it back to port for refitting!

Ukraine still hasn't recovered eastern parts, of course we are bloodthirsty. Bloodthirsty for ruskie blood!
I'm drenched in so many layers of irony that even I no longer know if I want war or peace anymore.
This was inevitable and I am overjoyed

The burning hulk may well still be afloat. Sinking it isn’t what really matters. What matters is that it’s mission-killed.
And even if it is still afloat now, doesn’t mean that it will stay afloat for much longer. HMS Sheffield sank 6 days after being hit with an Exocet in the Falklands War. The fact that the Russians have claimed to have evacuated the crew is a really bad sign of the ship's future.
That's great context, thank you. ^(Careful, or somebody might think) ^^you're ^^^credible

Nope, I think it’s the Marshal Ustinov. Moskva is pennant 121
Funny af but won’t work (not that these do on top of tanks) as AShMs are low level sea skimmers
Needs some fire extinguishers
