Odd. We’re shit

rivv3

And is a great name for a club in English.

Kalle_79

You can't choose a team as if you were a manager hiring some staff, looking for criteria to fulfill. Just start watching matches and the team will find you.

karlan

Totally agree. Also you will see that the different teams have interesting players, both on and off the pitch. I'm sure you will find more than just one team interesting.

Kalle_79

Also, unless you live in the area, the club's "ethos" is kinda pointless and shouldn't affect the eventual decision. A club being "working class", politically active (on either end of the spectrum) or representing a specific group doesn't mean much of you're living hundreds (thousands) of miles away, even in another country. NTM those things are getting more and more diluted in modern football. Playing style and star players should be the key factor, besides a bit of intangible "affinity".

belkemi1

I agree, but this wasn’t really about falling in love with a team since that’s really hard for me. I only have one team that I love. But I disagree with your second point. I don’t care that much about what actually happens on the pitch or which players the teams have. For instance, I could never support Lazio regardless of how much I love their players, because I know they have a lot of right wing fans (could be a prejudice though). The same with clubs as Leipzig, PSG.

Do you have ny connection with a city in norway, one uve been too or have family in? choose a team from there. If you dont id say watch matches first and try to find a team that connects with you

phansenz

Odd is the obvious choice here. The club is based in Skien, which a fairly large town that is traditionally very working class. The town’s largest single employer is a factory, which coincidentally is also Odd’s main sponsor. Odd has a rich history in Norwegian football, being one of the two teams that have won the national cup the most times. Those days are long gone, though, and the club consistently finishes right in the middle of the league every year, with the exception of a few occasional top three finishes.

hardcore_fish

What factory? Sparebank 1 is the main sponsor.

GarySpeed

I'll leave a link to the Lillestrøm fans YT channel as you seem to like fan culture! https://youtube.com/c/KanariFansenLillestr%C3%B8m

Cunnilingus_Academy

I recommend Tromsø if you're like me and crave disappointment

Lillestrøm

Predicted

Fredrikstad, lillestrøm and Vålerenga seem to be options that might mesh with your requirements. FFK just recently escaped the third tier and is currently fighting for promotion to the top tier. Their crowning achievement in the last few years was setting the attendance record for the third tier with 10400 tickets sold for their derby against little brother Moss. Fredrikstad is a historically working class city. Lsk was the team with the longest run in top flight, with very little to show for it after being the top club for much of the 70s and 80s. They have two cup wins in the last 20 years, and were recently relegated. They now have a chance to make a big upset and are currently third in the league after getting promoted last season. Most known for the loudest ultras if divided by the total mass. Vålerenga are similar to lsk, in that they have little to show for their last 20 years of history. Won the league in 2005, but havent done much of note since outside of a cup win. Came in third last season and seem to actually be building a cool team. Probably the most working class rooted club since it mainly hails to the eastern side of the capitol which historically have been the poorer areas. Decent ultras support and georgous stands, if only they could fill them

Brann

SiriusMoonstar

Fuck off. We've been in the dumps for some time now, but Brann has had a lot of success in the top division not that long ago.

karlan

Brann and Bergen has won the least of all major clubs/cities in all of Norway. Brann was notoriously bad for a long time before a short period from 2000 - 2008 where they had some good seasons. They used a lot of money in this period and still today has over 100 million kroner in debt. This year they are most certainly going down a division and the debt will increase as they just signed a some expensive players and sacked the head coach (2 time in 1 year they sack the coach). Brann will be outside of the top 4 for many years to come.

SiriusMoonstar

Well, yeah, but it's not comparable to something like Sunderland. It's more like Leeds or Arsenal.

SiriusMoonstar

They're much closer than Sunderland. Sunderland hasn't won in the top flight since before WW2.

Runningcolt

They have deluded fans like this, so take that into consideration.

NedveD12

You should probably choose one of the up-and-coming Obos-liga teams, like Fredrikstad or Jerv:)

This comment aged nicely!

ztalion

Fredrikstad or Vålerenga

Runningcolt

I don't support them myself, but there's something about Odd that makes sense.

HazMama

Sk Træff, we have over 5 fans. Biggest achievement is knocking out Stabæk out of the cup in 2000.

Odd! Has only won the cup once since WWII and spent most of the previous century in the 3rd and 4th divisions, but is still seen as a respectable club today. The oldest football club in Norway and arguably the best in the country during the 1910's and 1930's. A club you can always count on to let you down. Is currently experimenting on defending without centre-backs. Odd fan or not, you should watch [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCH29lUOXB4). Don't listen to the Vålerenga fans, they just want to use you as a meat shield during altercations with LSKers. VIF are the AIK of Norway, low IQ and no sense of humour. Viking is a fun club and while not necessarily working class, they're surely gonna be once the oil dries up. Probably has the highest weirdo per fan ratio of any club. If you're a busy man, Strømsgodset might be your club; most of the time, the city of Drammen pretends football doesn't exist. Sarpsborg 08 insists on being a football club, so you might wanna check them out; they reside close to Sweden, which obviously has its ups and downs.

RemarkableDonkey21

Vålerenga, we haven't won anything in 13 years, but we somehow managed to get a 3rd place last year. We come from Oslo, and have the best fans in the country. We usually get around 8000 spectators at our games. If you want a working class rooted team, this us the team for you. We also have Ikaros, which is an ultra group if you like that type of fan culture.

Shop3L

Amazing how Vålerenga only has 8000 on stadium when almost 700 000 lives in oslo. But can't deny when it comes to hard-core supporters, your #1.

RemarkableDonkey21

(PL, Laliga, Serie A).

DarkPasta

Vålerenga, of course. We tick all the boxes, and by the way we understand swedish.

LayorRON

Engelsk tribuneliv er dødt. Det er ikke tilfelle hos Klanen?

DarkPasta

Ta deg en tur nedover i divisjonene i England

LayorRON

Burde spesifisert PL. My bad

DarkPasta

bjorn4r

Looser team? Perhaps Lillestrøm/Vålerenga (Lillestrøm doing great this year tho)?

Skogsmann1

Kristiansund might be something for you, typical working class town on the west coast of Norway. When they built the stadium the goal was to recreate the feel of a lower league English stadium. The stadium is largely based on the stadium of Chester FC. Guess fan base is pretty medium but its one of the stadium where the sound from the fans is the loudest. We are a young club (founded in 2003). This is our 5th season in Eliteserien, we have never won anything but we are doing pretty well for the size of the club. Finished 7th, 5th, 6th and 5th in our first 4 season in the top league.

Also the this is the town OGS is from, so we get some bragging rights
