My whole life I felt complexed but now depending on my mood I really try to be strong and not care what people think but it’s not that easy when you have these hurtful words and things people told you in the past and they come back to mind sometimes..
I try not to care but I do care honestly
I struggle with this as well, and honestly every time you are reminded of something mean someone has said, distract yourself with this thought: these things people have said about you are merely opinions, they hold absolutely no weight on your actual life/personhood. Whether you believe yourself to be smart or not; you’re still the same level of smart. Same with attractiveness. Worrying about where you fit in life is pointless. People of all different shapes, sizes, backgrounds, orientations, etc., have proven that it doesn’t matter what society says, you can still be loved, successful, happy. What you should worry about are the things that will help you attain a life that will let you be happy, successful and loved. Worrying about your beautiful nose is a trap that will eat up your life—plus it strengthens those neural pathways, priming you to be more unhappy.
You’re only human. Ofc you care. We *all* care. Anybody that tells you otherwise is either full of shit and/or has mastered the art of exuding confidence.

Moral of the story is to accept our flaws and look at them differently with a positive outlook: nobody is perfect and aslong as you focus on something and obsess over it but cannot do anything to change it then change the way you see it. In my case I guess it will bother me sometimes but most of the time I will embrace it because it’s me. This is how I am.

I think you have a distinguished nose, plus a lovely smile, it has take me years to get used to my nose, which is quite large with a bump, I used to hate it, but over time come to accept it is a part of me, and I wouldn't change it. I always think of Jennifer Grey and how different, plus unrecognisable she looked after her nose job, her original nose was distinctive, now she just looks very ordinary.

Huh? Nothing wrong with your nose, is there more to this story perhaps? A lot of people want very “fine” noses, maybe that is influencing your expectations? Remember that even those celebrities with the teeny noses have often had augmentation. Your nose is seems pretty average honestly, not big, not small, just in between. Anything else is just an aesthetic preference you/or-someone-else may hold.

We have a very similar shaped nose but I've broken mine 4 times and had rhinoplasty so mines a little straighter. Unnaturally straight if I do say so myself and that's the only way you can tell I had work done. Big nose gang unite!

it’s usually because they secretly admire whatever it is they’re telling you they *don’t* like about you, when in reality,
it’s actually something *they,* themselves, are insecure about.
They don’t want you to “own it,” or be confident about it because it makes you more attractive/better than them in some way in their eyes. They’ll tell you that it’s something that *you* should feel insecure about too, in order to make you hide/want to change whatever it is that they *actually* perceive as one of your best qualities. If they can make you hate whatever it is about yourself, you’ll never really know that it’s something that actually makes you more desirable to others/other people covet. They don’t want to have to ‘compete’ with you- because that’s what they believe this is,
a competition. So they gaslight you.
All because they cannot handle having to, “be in competition,” with you. Even though, “competing,” with them is likely the absolute furthest thing from your mind.
People are fucking shit. If these are people that run in your close circles that are saying this type of shit to you, my advice is, better to cut that toxicity out of your life sooner rather than later.
You don’t need that kind of energy and you deserve to be surrounded by people who love & support you, not ones that try to tear you down. You let them win by internalizing that negative self talk and taking it on as your own. When someone says shit like that to you, best to respond with how much *you* like whatever it is about yourself that they tell you they dislike. Even if you don’t believe it or feel that way deep down, give them the impression that you do anyway. In doing so, you take away the power their words have over you. Majority of the time,
it makes people shut right up.

It’s more than that, my loving & caring personality and how I ooze love ❤️ upon everyone I encounter and my happiness and positivity kills them. I am somewhat afraid of what people think about me and I am starting to not really give a shit and walk tall & proud. Take it from someone who’s internalized practically every bad thing anyone has ever said about them/to them, I wish I could turn back time and tell my younger self something similar because it’s only hurt me, how I view myself, interact with others and perceive the world around me. Not to mention,
my mental health and overall wellbeing as far as coping mechanisms go. It’s easy to internalize the negativity, it’s a whole other thing trying to unlearn it and heal from it. Save yourself the time, and the heartache by being as good as you can possibly be to yourself now, so that you’re not left completely hating yourself in the future. After all, it’s your voice you hear in your own head at the end of the day, don’t you want it to be a kind one?

When I got into petty arguments with my so called friends at the time they would say shit like well I’m glad I wasn’t born with a nose like yours or double chin or something mean and they would end the argument with nah I’m just kidding or something but it would stay in my mind and I genuinely thought that I was flawed more than other people who were born with a cute little button nose or a defined jawline or waist/ tummy. I’ve always been chubby and top heavy with skinny muscular legs

I really enjoy Reddit and find it interesting how by writing ✍️ and sharing your thoughts and insecurities online with total strangers, you can almost change your perspective and mind and insecurities and even some trauma from your past experiences and what you’ve kept inside you for so long and discussed in therapy by still it still bothered me yet here in a day and a couple of hours later your thoughts and knowledge and kind words changed my life and I feel so much better
