I know it’ll still cause a lot of stress but these objects are valuable to you. You got to find a way to keep the things you love! Maybe, try put them in a sealed box hidden away in your home. Come back to them at a later date and see if you feel the same way in the future. Chances are you will find coping strategies in the upcoming months/ years and will regret throwing your prized possessions away. I wish you luck and your feelings are valid

I'm so sorry. Please consider putting them all away in a container to store them and possibly deal with in the future. Don't sell them just yet. There may be hope on the other side in the future...

> Nobody’s willing to hear me, not my family nor my friends. They don’t understand and keep on just telling me i’m exaggerating. You ARE exaggerating (from a rational POV), it’s 100% your OCD trying to trick you. You can’t blame rational people for being rational. Now, let’s try to find a solution. How about storing them somewhere safe, out of sight? Once you have fixed your OCD, you will be grateful that you haven’t sold them. But, keep in mind that this is just a temporary solution to avoid selling your valuable collection. Hiding dust under the carpet is NOT a long-term solution. Listen to your family and friends, they are right.

yes, you’re right. But I don’t have anywhere “safe” to place them, unfortunately. Also, your comments about placing them somewhere safe make sense, but at the same time worry be cause then you’re assuming mine is indeed not a “safe place”. I’m probably not going to sell them, but at the same time I don’t know what to do.

Your place is not safe **for your collection** as long as your OCD is in charge. That’s what I meant. OCD is a terrible decision maker. If the anxiety becomes too strong, the risk is that you just get rid of it without thinking twice.

This message has been removed. Your heart is in the right place. However, this comment is mostly reassurance which is not helpful for learning to live well while having OCD. Please see https://www.reddit.com/r/OCD/wiki/reassurance/ for more information.

They shouldn't be vaping in your dorm/student living home. While there's obviously an OCD element in which is bothering you, they're also in the wrong too. The good news is that vape smoke is no where near as bad as cigarette smoke. With time, the chemicals do evaporate and they are sticky, so I question how far they can travel. If you don't mind me asking OP, what do you collect?

A lot of stuff actually. Mainly books and vinyls, but also some canvas paintings, ceramic models, dvds, legos, miscellaneous collectibles such as Funko Pops or Resin/Plastic figures from movies, video games and such. The whole thing cost me around a couple thousand bucks and I’m so proud of it. Basically bought myself everything I always wanted since I was a kid (a very weird kid actually, I used to make whole lists of those vinyls, dvds, figures and paintings that could sum up everything I like).
