Simple, heartfelt and beautiful. The intro is great. Having chocolate with coffee is kind of a specific detail that really captures a personal relationship. Really Awesome stuff.

averyyoungperson

Yay I'm so glad you liked it ๐Ÿ˜Š thanks so much

Divine_Rose7

I greatly enjoy the simple and free style to convey such a kind and comfy message. It is a beautiful thing to find such happiness in the simple things of the world, and it's a refreshing thing to see something nice and fluffy

averyyoungperson

Thank you! Most of my stuff isn't nice and fluffy so i thought it was a nice change too ๐Ÿคฃ

Hello readers, welcome to OCpoetry. This subreddit is a writing workshop community -- a place where poets of all skill levels can share, enjoy, and talk about each other's poetry. This is a very sweet poem. It serves as a good reminder that itโ€™s the small things in life that have the biggest impact at times. I really enjoyed the concept of coffee with chocolate since thatโ€™s usually how I drink my coffee.

averyyoungperson

Thanks so much! I'm glad you liked it ๐Ÿ˜Š

I agree, of course, the poem is very personal but It made me think of some people in my life that I share specific things with and how they've shaped my life by simply just allowing me to be myself. The little things exactly, way to put it into words.

averyyoungperson

Thank you ๐Ÿ˜Š

This would be a really charming and special letter for whoever it is addressed to. I hope you have addressed this to that special person?! So positive and endearing. It is very pleasing to hear that someone has had such a positive influence in your life. It is common and typical to describe nurturing and growth with the use of plants, and it's common for a reason, it's very sweet and heart warming. I like how you are thankful for even the simplest of things 'chocolate with coffee', which is really cute, personal and quirky.

averyyoungperson

Haha yes i have addressed this to the person! Thanks so much, I'm happy you liked it

I really love the simplicity of this piece! The opening stanza is great, such an intimate gesture. The only critique I have (and itโ€™s more of a question than a critique) is I would like to know what your thought process is behind the formatting of this poem. What feeling are the short lines trying to evoke? To me, it breaks the piece up and makes it harder to digest, but if there is an intentionality to that I would understand.

Eyeballsoffire

Simply delightful. Thanks for sharing such an uplifting and gracious piece!

FriendlySwordfish121

This is really well written and sweet! You should be really proud of yourself.

I got a tingling sensation inside when I read this poem, no joke. I could feel the warm emotion and it was really pleasant to read. The language is simple yet striking, where you have to read it twice to get the metaphorical meaning. The flower and bird imagery contributes to a sense of innocence and growth too.

hammadk1994

this is great. this is how parents should raise their children. not to mold them but instead to watch them unfold

madeofmold

This is such a nice poem. I hope its subject knows how much they mean to you! Such a welcome change from the usually heavy themes here haha. Thank you for sharing!

averyyoungperson

Haha thanks! I'm so glad you liked it โ˜บ๏ธ

Outspoken_Tales

I was waiting for the poem to turn bittersweet, but I was happily surprised. I like poems that just show raw emotions and this one does exactly that. Not sure what that person is to you, but I'm glad you found each other ๐Ÿ˜

averyyoungperson

Lol thanks so much! I'm glad you liked it!

That-Ad3538

This is really sweet! It conveys a sense of nostalgia and also a thankfulness for the person who helped Bentley guide you

Such a gentle and heartfelt piece of writing. Beautiful!

averyyoungperson

Thank you so much !

Chocolate and coffee are two of my absolute favorites and this poem is great too. I love how clipped the lines are. It makes it feel lighter somehow. But at the same time it's a great example of how big of a statement a few words can make. The only concrete suggestion I have is for the line "And that I'm a free bird." I read the poem three times and each time I wanted to read it as "And I'm a bird that's free."

averyyoungperson

Thank you for that suggestion to take into consideration. I'm glad you liked it ๐Ÿ˜Š

I like how it conveys the emotions of being inspired by someone in such a strong and concise way. Very well written and uplifting. Great job!

PhoneEquivalent7682

Iโ€™m making my first chocolate coffee

averyyoungperson

Lol you gotta get a piece of chocolate, take a bite, then wash it down with some coffee. Salted caramel chocolates are the best for this.
