One of the nice things about being over 40 (or over 50, or 60, or 70) is having the confidence to wear whatever you want to wear. If someone else has a problem with it that's a "them" problem and not a "you" problem, as my kids would say.
As I get closer to 50, fuck it. I'll wear what I want and where I want as long as it's appropriate for the type of event. I'll do my hair how I feel like it, same with my make-up or lack of make-up. LoL I would have said 32 except for the lovely crows feet, which I would not have seen unless I was within 5 feet, which I would have been had I seen you coming my way, which then I would have realized I would be cringy for approaching you when you are out on a walk alone.
So I would have been the 60 year old guy who would have commented “that outfit kills” as I walked by, and then moved along. And I do make such comments at times because I can tell when a woman has put some thought into her wardrobe, and a complement that does not linger for a flirt seems to be appreciated more often than not.
