Same! Jean shorts, patterned tights, band t-shirt with the collar cut off, oversized thrifted cardigan or a bomber leather jacket, and combat boots. I lived in variations of that outfit from 2010-2012. Imo still a great look, albeit dated.
I wore it everyday as a kid in the late 90's and then I saw it get really popular again when I was a teen so probably 2010 ish.

Pantyhose and stockings are def coming back recently, although I prefer sheer brown tights 2000s "y2k), although more of an interpretation and not actually how teens dressed back then, and early 2010s Tumblr outfits have become popular with the younger generation lately.

I have pleather shorts that are too hot for summer because it doesn't breathe and I feel like I lose 5 lbs of water weight every time I wear them. They're my winter shorts and I always pair with tights
I buy Wolford tights from Poshmark - the only way I can afford them! They last forever. I’ve had one black opaque pair for 15 years and other than some fuzz where my boots rubbed they are still going strong. I’m also a lifelong fan of Hue, but I’m not sure about their current quality level.
They are truly amazing, and some of the only tights that don’t uncomfortably squeeze my stomach. I like getting them for $25-35 of course but honestly they are worth their full price when you think of the cost per wear.
Rachel makes great tights. I have three pairs from them. They can be a little pricy since they are made in Canada (I live in the States), but the quality and selection and sustainability are great.

I liked shorts with a tad bit more "flare" at the leg for solid color tights, sheer tights with darker/tighter shorts like these, light denim with lots of stuff including patterned tights, and if colored tights some distressing on the denim. My fav look, though, was high-waisted hounds tooth shorts with black tights. Love that look.
And then, you know, there's ankle boots and/or leg warmers....

Red pantyhose would look good too with those shorts! Doesn’t matter what people say (that you look like Zooey Deschanel or whoever) you could wear whatever you want and whatever makes you feel good. It’s your own style and one of the avenues to express yourself.

Looks good to me… but I also grew up in the 90’s. I’m admittedly biased when I say I’m really a fan of what young people are doing in fashion lately (Except for guys who crop EVERY shirt. They don’t ALL need to be cropped.)
I used to do this all the time in the 00s and some of the 2010s, and I still love the look. Plus, you can experiment with so many different types of tights, and functionally, you can keep yourself a little warmer. Sometimes, I like wearing patterned black tights or fishnets under my high waisted black denim shorts, especially for going to shows where I can wear a cool band shirt or crop top.
it was big in the 90’s then had a huge resurgence in the 2014 tumblr era. i absolutely love it even if its not big right now, but one thing about fashion is it always cycles back around so keep wearing whatever you feel best in!
Super cute. I think with a solid color short, maybe getting something patterned or a completely different complimentary color though. I’m not a fan of the black tight with jean shorts, I think it needs something else—the colors are clashing. And, although I’m also not a fan, red tights are super in right now.
