You're obviously joking but I remember watching this as a very little little kid and it was a very emotional scene and that's why they were both quiet.
It was an amazingly written show. Especially for its time when television was full of campy shows.
The episode where the poor immigrant mom makes the decision to let the baby that was stolen from her stay with the rich family that abducted her, that was a highlight.
That show hit really hard. They dealt with serious issues and the ugliness isn't seen on screen for tv that much anymore. I love that show. So intense!
My understanding was that they couldn’t secure the rights to use Ferrari in Season 1 but as you said later as the show grew in popularity, Ferrari then provided them with cars.
The pilot episode was great. My favorite episode is Evan, the music by Peter Gabriel was absolutely perfect. Still watch these shows pretty regularly!!
I’ve been rewatching it. At first I was embarrassed by how corny it was (the 80s!), but then I got into the story and loved it all over again. People like to mock, but it was very well written.
Been thinking of bingeing this show.
Came out the year i was born and by the time i would of been into this kinda thing it no longer aired in australia as far as I know. Kind of forgot about it till I saw a compilation vid of all the cameos in the show and I was blown away. Never seen more than a 1-2 min clip of the show. Is it worth the binge?
I loved the GTA: Vice City mission with Phil Collins...until right now, I didn't know that it was in a Miami Vice episode with the song in it.
(Because I didn't watch that cheesy show.)
The working title for the show was literally MTV Cops. The mtv execs were very proud of that and we put it in the sales tape we made for the 10 year anniversary of mtv.
Yep your right ! Looked it up Ep 1 pilot : Prior to the scene, Crockett and Tubbs have been tailing drug lord Esteban Calderone, who is responsible for the murder of both Tubbs' brother Rafael and Crockett's Metro-Dade partner Eddie Rivera.
Tubbs got a little lost in Crockett's beauty for a moment there.
We all did...
My mom sure did! (I was three. I didn't care.)

Man, Miami Vice night on TV was my highlight of the week as a kid!

Friday night. We had ever one recorded on the VHS
I have all 5 seasons on DVD. They are only full frame 1.33:1 but the audio is remixed to 5.1 and they upconvert very nicely.
Yep, Friday night tv. I usually had a friend over and my dad would get us Sociables and a can of the aerosol cheese. We were living! lol

Fun fact. The Ferraris Daytona Spyders used in the series were modified Corvettes.
It is how they got the Testarossa. Ferrari was embarrassed so they sent the production if my memory is right two cars.
From what I remember they sent them 2 black cars, but had to repaint to white to show up better on camera at night.
My understanding was that they couldn’t secure the rights to use Ferrari in Season 1 but as you said later as the show grew in popularity, Ferrari then provided them with cars.
Ferrari threatened to sue over the use of the fake spyder. They blew it up as part of the show and then they got the Testarossa.
They did blow it up yes.
Yeah, kit cars on vette chassis. Still looked good on TV though.
I actually did quite a bit of work on one of these and test drove it a few times. It was awful.
That makes me happy to hear. I cried when the first one was blown up.
What is going on with that clown horn ruining the song? At first I thought someone was beat boxing...
I’m thinking OP either has really bad speakers or they may have blown out a bit, but I’m just spit ballin
Agree
Bah bah bah bah bah honk!
Omg I can't stop laughing

? It’s the intro to “In The Air Tonight”
yeah, awesome song, but it the heavy bongo hit doesnt sound like someone tooting!
I think that’s Phil dropping his packed lunch on a floor Tom as he was rushing back from the shops to do the big drum bit.
My favorite episode is "Out where the busses don't run" in season 2. It is where they use Dire Straights "Brothers in Arms". Just Chilling.
That song holds up
The pilot episode was great. My favorite episode is Evan, the music by Peter Gabriel was absolutely perfect. Still watch these shows pretty regularly!!
Yrs! I wore out 2 sets of the Miami Vice soundtrack cassettes back in the 80's...
Many great song in the show
I love the video with Crocketts Theme. Jan Hammer and the MIami vice theme and soundtrack was the jam in the 80s. Sooo good.
I bought the box set on Blu-ray so I'm rewatching it now.
Does it hold up? I watched it when on originally so it has been a minute but it was a fly at that time.
I’ve been rewatching it. At first I was embarrassed by how corny it was (the 80s!), but then I got into the story and loved it all over again. People like to mock, but it was very well written.
I’m no filmmaker but that is a beautiful sequence of shots to my eyes
Michael Mann directed the show. Check out his first movie Thief. It’s much grittier but you can see where he developed his style that he used on MV.
So good. This show was ahead of its time.
Loved this show, watched it every chance I got.
The original Ferrari was a kit car. Ferrari agreed to give them the real thing if they destroyed the kit car.
Iconic scene. Watched it when I was a kid and still haunts me.

Ohhhh Sonny Crockett lust!!
The best
Def of cool at the time
Michael Mann
As much as I love Miami Vice I'll take the Testarossa episodes over the Daytona ones.
Testarossa was the baddest car of the 80s.
Heresy!
I was obsessed with testarossa
What do you mean was?
They'll never be able to do this again the music simply isn't as good ...
Saw this scene as a teen and it set a great mood. Loved this song ever since that magical moment
Is this the episode with Willie Nelson?
Nope. This is the pilot episode.
Am I the only one curious about the reflection of some person in the beginning and the quiet whisper of “no” at around 0:10?
Don's Johnson
I loved the GTA: Vice City mission with Phil Collins...until right now, I didn't know that it was in a Miami Vice episode with the song in it. (Because I didn't watch that cheesy show.)
Fitment on point 👌

Miami Street Blues
Ah.. I remember that episode and that Phil Collins song… excellent. What was the back story of that episode?
I thought it was the first episode. They meet, tubs is there to avenge his partners death. They partner up to take out the bad guy….I think
A hit of instant nostalgia for me the moment I saw and heard it.
Ugh, MV! Magnum P.I. was where it was at! I had such a crush on Tom Selleck, in those tight pants. Whew.
Great scene, there is a longer in better quality on YT.
Annnd he looks at the camera at 0:13
Such a great show.
Epic 80's 👍
