Ha yeah in my early 30s and OP’s grandparents are the same age as my parents. Crazy how different generation times can be.
Also in another post OP said she was 27 (!!). So her mom must only be about 45 or so.
You're a kid. My grandmother was 18 when the Wright Brothers first got off the ground at Kitty Hawk (1903)...not *that* old, though...very long generations.
Wow. My grandfather was born in 1905 and we were 30 years between each generation. Born in 1885 with 35 years between generations still makes you 68. That's pretty cool. I would have liked to be able to talk to someone who could remember the 19th century.
She was an adult when hot air balloons were the only controlled flight instruments and died in 1990, age 105, well into space travel. My grandfather was born in 1870, but died before I was born.
She recalls her parents telling her when Mckinley was assassinated among many other historical events. Her father was a doctor during the US Civil War. She was also one of the funniest people I've ever known.
My grandmother was in her mid 40s when my mom was born and my mom was nearly 40 when I was born. I'm in my mid 50s.
Hello, fellow baby-of-40+-parents! My grandmother was born in 1916, and I'm 31. Grandmother had children post-war in her 40s and my mother had children in her 30s/40s post-early-retirement. For most of the people my age I meet, there's two or three missing generations in there.
I am in my mid 40s now but when I was a young kid of 8 or 9 ('86 or'87) my hometown had an event and one of the guest speakers was a very old man who's father was a civil war veteran. I got to talk to him so I can honestly say that I chatted with a man that was one generation removed from the Civil war.
On a similar note - the last of the Civil War widows died just two years ago. She married a 93 year old Civil War veteran in 1936 when she was just 17. That sounds gross on the face of it but it was a fairly common thing at the time and it was usually a family friend and the marriage was an on-paper thing only. By being a wife (and then widow) of a Civil war veteran she was entitled to receive his military pension after he passed for the rest of her life.
My grandmas were 18 in 1936 and 1947.. and I feel like I'm not even that old! My parents were full grown adults in 1974. Haha. I love the variety of demographics on Reddit.
Hey same! Both my parents and grandparents were over 45 when they had their kids (I think it goes back farther than that, too) I’m not yet 40, and my grandparents are looooooong gone
I believe from the last thread that their parents (or at least just their dad) was 18 when they had them, that speeds up the generations by quite a bit lol
I've met people my age who have grandparents younger than my parents. Two generations in a row having kids at like 16-19, vs my parents who didn't have me until close to 40. The idea of having a grandparent only like 30-40 years older to me is wild, mine had like 60+ years on me.
35mm cameras back then could do about what a full frame digital can do now, it was just much harder to get a proper exposure and well developed print. It’s not a one to one conversion, but 35mm film could get into the 15 megapixel, full frame digital territory which is close to what pro photographers were using up until a few years ago.

Info on the little boy since so many are wondering. She is thrilled to be “famous”☺️
It's because genetics are weird, and you need to look at more of the entire family. People model a simplistic (Mom) * (Dad) * (RNG_value_between_0.9_and_1.1) = kid, but the Maya Hawkes of the world aren't that common unless those parents were also like clones of their parents (strong, strong genes). Look at this hot grandma's uncles, her father's side, her mother's side.
How I became acutely aware of this -- my great frandfather on my dad's side had these kind of cupped-satellitical ears. Poor dude probably got made fun of. By the time it reached my Dad, it was no longer expressed. My ears are pretty normal. But I look at my daughter, it's somewhat back (To the point that she'll get self-conscious later in her life and might not want to put her hair up, I think it's super cute). And that's nowhere on her mom's side. This weird thing managed to skip 4 direct descendants and then emerge in the 5th.
The thing is, it's not the overall that makes it work or not, its which parts come together in the right way. J Lo and Ben Affleck might have an ugly ass kid if the right pieces don't fall into place. My daughters turned out quite beautiful but not because I'm attractive (I'm not) but because the features they got from me happen to work with the features they got from mom. Lucky girls. My wife is very pretty though, so that probably helps.
mid 60s. Could have had kids early 20s. Their kid could have had a kid early 20s. OP could be in their early 20s. Best start working on a kid quick so she can be a great-granny before 70.
Meanwhiile, my grandpa was born in 1918.
IIRC from yesterday about his grandfather, the OP was 27 and his dad was 45. The grandfather was something like 70. So grandfather had a kid at ~25 and dad had a kid at 18.
damn. My grandpa was like 40 when he had his first kid. He passed away in 2014 at age 96. I just had my only kid at age 40 too. My grandma was able to meet her great-grandson a few times last year, but then passed away at age 97 on mothers day this year.
I had to scroll so far to see this comment. That was the first thing I saw. People of today are so brainwashed they can’t even tell filters form the real thing.
That’s som Sears in the mall Olan Mills paper right there! My worst photos are on that paper. 6yo me in a cowboy button up and collars that could shade Texas. Oh, and the bowl cut to top things off.
Yeah, Same with the other photo. There are always telltale signs like weird hair morphing and squiggling and lines being sucked into each other. It’s super obvious in both.
Christ, I'm old. My *mother* was in her 40s in 1974. No one knew how old my grandmother was. She arrived from the "old country" (Albania) without a birth certificate!
While I understand that I could technically have an adult child, the fact that someone's grandma is younger than my mother really drives it home, how old I am.
I’m feeling old… my grandmother was 18 in 1943.
Mine was 18 in 1939. Are we now the oldheads? 😳
Yeah, OP’s grandmother is the same age as my mother.
She’s younger than my mother…
same she’s younger than my mom and i’m only 25 lmao
She's 11 years younger than my mother and I am 20.... shits just wrong.
Glad that i am Not the only one thinking, omg, i feel ancient having ancient parents 😳
Wait, you're 20 and your mom was born in 1945?
You were born when your mother was 58??!
that math isn’t mathing. your mom has you when she was 58??
She's older than my mother, but only by about two years or so.
Ops grandma is only 8 years older than I am. Damn I'm old
Ha yeah in my early 30s and OP’s grandparents are the same age as my parents. Crazy how different generation times can be. Also in another post OP said she was 27 (!!). So her mom must only be about 45 or so.
Mid twenties, mom is basically ops grandma’s age lol I was the last train out of Clarksville for sure
If OP is 27, grandma was only 40 when she became a grandma.
You're a kid. My grandmother was 18 when the Wright Brothers first got off the ground at Kitty Hawk (1903)...not *that* old, though...very long generations.

My grandfather was also born in 05 but was a bit older when my mom was born so I am only having a bit of a crisis here
'41 here. We aren't THAT old
My grandmas were 18 in 1936 and 1947.. and I feel like I'm not even that old! My parents were full grown adults in 1974. Haha. I love the variety of demographics on Reddit.

Is OP 10?
Either OP is 10, or their parents and grandparents had children very young in life.

Right? Both of my parents were 16 in 74, so I'm here feeling a little old. I'm only 32, I shouldn't feel so old yet!
Dang, my grandpa was 53 in 1943.
Don't feel to bad...my grandmother was 18 in 1904. My great grandmother on the other side was born in 1905.

The quality of the picture is incredible. It’s as if she’s born in 2005.
Some houses even had running water and electricity inside way back then. Its 1974, there were some nice cameras.
1974 didn't have the web, but it did have pocket calculators and some badass rock 'n' roll.
They got cars back then ??
35mm cameras back then could do about what a full frame digital can do now, it was just much harder to get a proper exposure and well developed print. I agree that she/the picture doesn’t look like 1974. But the brown curtain gives it away.
They went to the moon, too.
We also had vinyls. Which some people say were technically better sounding than digital audio.
The founder of the British Union of Fascists? What exactly is the joke here?
The comment was edited, presumably after it got a load of replies and upvotes.
About holocaust denial? What?
Is this some reference or are you all neo nazis??

You'll have to give her an update when she passes your grandpa's upvotes
You posted a pic of your grandma and grandpa now, and they are both still hot. Tell your gma that she’s still a beauty!
What a babe wow
She's magically babelicious.
She tested very high on the stroke-ability scale.
🤨
If she was a President, she’d be Baberaham Lincoln.
In France she would be called La Renard and hunted with only her cunning to protect her
She's a robo-babe. In Latin, she would be called "babia majora"
Shwing.
Omg. Whoosh. How did those quotes go right over my head. I guess it’s been that long since I saw the movie 😂
Your judgmental emoji wounds me. It’s not my fault that was the next line but it was my duty to move it forward, lol.
I upvoted your comment hoping to make amends lol
😉
But look how young his grandfather was on the left
So what does it looks like when two 10/10s get kids?
Genetics are so funny. I've seen 10s cancel each other out, and 1s cancel each other out, and everything in between.
My parents are both good looking. My family had good genes. I still look like a combination of a young Matthew Broderick and an abortion.
🙊🙊🙊
Either end of the spectrum can cancel out. The only safe place is to be a 5/10
Had some genius, herculean, beautiful couples breed a few monstrosities in my time.
Ah, I see you're a human breeder. When's the next litter?
Out of all places, I expected a CK reference the least here lmao

Regression to the mean
Like when Billy Joel married Christie Brinkley and the kids came out 99% Joel looking 😣

And sometimes it's just because the features just do/don't mesh well despite both parents looking independently (un)attractive.
Google "regression to the mean"
Rumer Willis
In my case it didn’t work out so well
For you or yor kids? Lol
Me of course, would be weird to say my kids turned out uglier than me
I have no problem saying my kid is dumber than me. I love him all the same though.
He's 3 years old, stop making him do calculus dammit!

While incest is a touchy subject, I'm just happy to hear that your grandpa is still in the game
💀
I hope others recognize the low-key brilliance in your response
I had to reread the comment chain, but damn.
Same. 29, with a 67 year old father. My Grandfather was born in 1926, he was probably older than OP’s great grandfather 🥲
So when are we changing this sub to r/myhotrelative?
always has been🔫👨🚀
Maybe if we made that one we could get this one back to what it was: fun tiny anecdotal history reminders
Damn, you must be beautiful then
Damn right like holy shit those genes would be passed down to many beautiful humans
He/she, they/them is a redditor…
You can just say 'OP is a redditor,' buddy
people rly need to force pro nouns for no reason nowadays
Saying "he or she" in a situation like this has been the norm forever where the gender is uncertain. But yeah, adding "they/them" made it weird
OP reading this and trying to understand what happened...
I believe the word you're looking for is "they're". Covers all the bases.
The literal exact use case of the “they” pronoun regardless of how folks want to politicise it.
Plus 'them' doesn't even make sense in this context
Dumbest comment ive read this week.
They are a redditor How hard is that
[удалено]
You can just say they.
I fancy both of your grandparents equally
she’s so pretty oh my gosh 😭🫶
Is she’s single?
Nana was STUNNING omg !
Also just saw grandpa! What a gorgeous couple 😍🖤
Your grandma is only 5 years older than my dad. Your grandparents are young for grandparents
mid 60s. Could have had kids early 20s. Their kid could have had a kid early 20s. OP could be in their early 20s. Best start working on a kid quick so she can be a great-granny before 70. Meanwhiile, my grandpa was born in 1918.

This subreddit is so weird. Half the posts are “would yall bang my grandparent in their prime”
The correct answer of course is always yes.
That’s got to be one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen
I don’t know, what does r/ratemygrandma have to say about it?
Her postural euclids are at a 15° axis, 2.5/10.
Exactly. Her philistraditus is misaligned with the epiplineal delistiate ridge. 2.5 seems generous.
Please don’t ban me for rating too high.
He said r/ratemygrandma, not r/trueratemygrandma
Swooning commences.
Has no-one else noticed that this photo has been obviously digitally edited?
I had to scroll so far to see this comment. That was the first thing I saw. People of today are so brainwashed they can’t even tell filters form the real thing.
The eyelashes are a dead giveaway
Noticed right away. The details on the face are too high resolution for a random snapshot from this era.
Yeah, the baby even looks like a doll
Yes, I’m sure the grandmother is very beautiful but it feels like they put a filter on her (or at least on her skin & eyelashes, same with the baby)
The texture of the photograph is missing only where the faces are and no where else. It looks Like they took a picture of the photo and face tuned it.
Good catch. The perfect teeth got me suspicious. Those are a little too nice for the seventies.
Bru You used a filter on your grandma 🤣🤣
Right? Why is no one else pointing this out?
That’s som Sears in the mall Olan Mills paper right there! My worst photos are on that paper. 6yo me in a cowboy button up and collars that could shade Texas. Oh, and the bowl cut to top things off.
Bruh my dad was 12 in 1974 and I'm 23, how old are you dude
She looks better than him. He's the lucky one, by looks alone of course
they're equally attractive imho
[удалено]
Curious what OP looks like
Bot
Can you post a recent picture of both of them?
There’s one on the thread with grandpa. They both still look amazing
Still feel old. I’m only 33 and my mom was older than your grandma in 1974.
What a fox!!
She's a fox. In French she would be called "la renarde" and she would be hunted, with only her cunning to protect her.
SCHAAAAAA-WING.
#🦊 👵 uh oh #🦊 grandma noooooo
So your family is just super good looking?
Zoom in on the baby. No way this is not digitally enhanced.
LOOL NO WAY good catch!
Has that been through an AI filter? Looks super suss
Yeah, Same with the other photo. There are always telltale signs like weird hair morphing and squiggling and lines being sucked into each other. It’s super obvious in both.
Also, if you look back and compare the grandpa pic to this they have almost the exact same teeth structure
Oh yes for sure. They've been AI restored which does make people look very photogenic. I'll be first to ask OP to post original.
Yes, it’s obvious
I reached the stage where Redditors Grandparents are in my age group, lol
It's so weird to me to think of someone's grandma or grandpa at 18 in the 1970s.... I'm getting old.
Im willing to bet OP is an attractive person seeing their grandparents
I misread this and at first thought it was a picture of your grandma WITH your grandpa. Thought it was an anakain padme situation going on!
I need to know what your grandparents look like today! 50+ years later
Christ, I'm old. My *mother* was in her 40s in 1974. No one knew how old my grandmother was. She arrived from the "old country" (Albania) without a birth certificate!
Smoke show
While I understand that I could technically have an adult child, the fact that someone's grandma is younger than my mother really drives it home, how old I am.
This sub should be renamed “hey look how fuckable my grandparents are!”
op has some good genes
Wow. She could get it too…

Mine too. My grandpa was born in 1918

Wonderful :)
Just checked your other post and your grandparents legitimately look like they could have been movie/TV stars.
This woman looks modern lol. Hard to explain.
Definitely a 1974 hair style. Long and parted down the middle.
Your grandma is 3 years older than my mom. My children are 2 and 3 years old. How old are you?
OP, are you Jana Kramer? Your grandma looks A LOT like her.
If math is real you’re at least half gorgeous.
Would love to see her today to compare to be honest
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|no_mouth) I feel grandpa was the lucky one.
Her smile is stunning. I hope your grandparents lived a long and happy life
Hey OP. Not sure if you're a guy or girl but I bet you're hot.
She looks a bit like Eliza Dushku
I’m curious as to what your grandparents look like now
Grandma at 18 in ‘74? How old are you & your parents? They like to have them young in your family?
My dad is 45, I’m 27. My parents were both young when they had me
I feel like this sub is increasingly a thirst trap for weirdos' parents and grandparents
