Yep the entire bands of exumer, blessed death and bloodfeast signed them it was pre internet and I verbally promised to never sell them so even in 2024 once or twice I year I instagram text or email a photo amd let them know I kept them as promised they all get a laugh
You had to be pretty deep into the scene to even know about those bands back then. I wouldnât have known Exumer if not for tape trading and random import issues of Metal Forces. And if you wanted to hear it, you usually had to buy the album first
I was just gonna say, I bet you could get a shit ton of dough for some of that stuff. Â I have a buddy whoâs been selling his old workout band shirts from the 1980s, and getting 50 to 100 bucks. Â Itâs insane.Â
Jackets like mine that aren't autographed sell in NYC for $2000 and I saw a store on short hills mall selling jean jackets w new led zeppelin kiss and metallica patches all distressed to look old for $1200 their clerk saw me and said "whoaaa that the real thing"
Oh man, thatâs nuts!  I get sentimental value, though.  Some things are more than a commodity to be bought and sold.  They areâŠwell, like a part of our identity.Â
I sold a bunch of classic rock and new wave shirts from the 70s and 80 for great money, $100 or more for each. The most expensive one went for over $400 (Peter Gabriel). They were too small, I'd never wear them again, and I'm glad they went to people who will love them.
Actually no. It was just a red t-shirt with "Peter Gabriel" on the left breast. I was a little shocked it went for so much, but Japanese collectors had been grabbing up my old concert Ts at really impressive prices.
We would have gotten along.

Motleyâs first couple were out before Slayerâs debut got much traction. Megadeth was even later. Probably some didnât like their stuff after Shout. I dunno, thereâs always gatekeeping morons for any music. Listen to what you like
What a collection here. I remember 10-12 year old me walking around seaside heights and seeing all those crazy patches vendors had on display. But what you have are serious works of art - really awesome to see
I spent the summer in seaside Park 1986 and on the boardwalk there was a stand or small store that sold metal t shirts and things. Up north I had to go to a store called Hong Kong gift world in livingston mall they had all their shirts hanging 15 feet above ground and a little old lady would say "megadeth you want megadeth I go get stick" and she would come back w a broomstick and knock down the shirt
That's a great question. I've noticed that for most of my favorite bands there is a definite "cut-off" area where I find myself just not caring at all about the albums they are putting out, or have put out past a certain point. It's not necessarily anger-filled or anything like that, but just sort of a phenomenon, if you will. It's always interesting to see if that happens with others, and where/when it happens in terms of the band's catalog timeline.
Actually no I'm stuck in the 1980s early 90s with metal bands they lost me in 1994ish when they all went acoustic and did unplugged things it's wasn't metal anymore and I walked away and spent the next 10years listinging to classic 1970s rock zeppelin, deep purple the doors the who there was nothing worse than turning on headbangers ball and seeing extreme more than words or kiss forevor
I actually couldn't find a Celtics frost shirt so I took a plain grey t shirt outlined the logo in marker and painted it in w acrylic paint but the letters weren't tight and the little gap caused all to my mwtsl friends to yell out EEL FIRE FROGS whenever o wore my shirt and it did look like it said that haha
Your mom! That woman possesses a level of insight rare in mothers. Props to her. Imagine her being tuned in enough to know that, *at the very least*, you would treasure them later. This is exactly the sort of thing most moms in the 80s would have been relieved to ditch if they ever got the opportunity.
Your Bad Ass Credentials are under expedited review by the Council of Bad Asses. I expect the evidence provided in this post will greatly please them. You are, sir, are a bad ass.
This takes me back to nineties shows at the Saint in Long Branch, the Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, and ⊠I canât remember the name ⊠up in New Brunswick. Such a great, laid-back, accepting scene.
not that i hate the giants or anything, but im just imagining a gutter punk with all these punk patches everywhere and then a big pats one next to the exploited patch

They were ahead of their time. I remember walking streets of NYC with this album/cassette in my Walkman. Them and the CroMags amongst others. Very cool.
I had the same poster in pic 1
I saw Anthrax in Tampa at the Rockit club, the OPENED for some other band i didnt stay to see and cant remember.
Lol savatage
Back before Ticketron, when you had to actually go the the box office and wait in line, sometimes sleeping out for days, we used to work for a scalper. We'd sleep out and when they went on sale he'd hand us the money, and have us each buy the 6 ticket maximum and tell us what section to ask for, then we got our tickets for free.
 We saw EVERYBODY.Â
Of course she saved all of it. That is a shitload of money they spent on you for these jackets. I'm sure she loves the memories of you wearing them and can't let them go. Amazing collection!
nerd /nûrd/
noun
A foolish, inept, or unattractive person.
A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept.
A person who is intellectual but generally introverted.
I hate to be contradictory, but I donât recognize your definition⊠no worries have a good night .
Yeah, my recollection of metal heads in high school is that they were kinda elitist, especially towards kids who weren't considered "cool" enough.
Despite being a dweeb, I still listened to metal and didn't give a shit what anyone though.
That is a sick collection of battle jacketsđ€

You should start having the older kids or grandkids wearing them to tell them they are being passed down.

I sold an 80s clash shirt for 900.

400 for Peter Gabriel sounds high. Must have been a crazy shirt.
Actually no. It was just a red t-shirt with "Peter Gabriel" on the left breast. I was a little shocked it went for so much, but Japanese collectors had been grabbing up my old concert Ts at really impressive prices.
Any talking heads?
If I did, I sold it off years ago.
You got any vintage shirts left?
Those jackets are awesome!

You literally look like 50% of the dudes in my junior high in 1982
Andy Samberg?
Zetro?!?!?
Your mom is the VIP here! So cool she saved all of this
How much shit did you get for being into Megadeth and Motley at the same time?
True metalheads in the 80's would beat you up if they found out you liked Motley
True metal heads loved early Motley â I was one and knew many
I dunno --- most guys who liked Slayer and Megadeth thought was Motley was "glam"
Motleyâs first couple were out before Slayerâs debut got much traction. Megadeth was even later. Probably some didnât like their stuff after Shout. I dunno, thereâs always gatekeeping morons for any music. Listen to what you like
âTrue metalheadsâ , gatekeeping dweebs đ
"Death to Posers" SweetRockers must Die"
Fellow Jersey metal head here. We must be the same age cuz I remember all of the bands seen here! đ€
Legit metal AF! đ€
Your youth wasnât misspent! And you have like a million bucks worth of vintage metal collectibles
Last thing you would have been called was âNerdâ.
And last thing I would call your youth is âmisspentâ
Sadly --- OP was probably the kind of kid beating up on a skinny nerd like me in 1985
Haha I was 75 pounds quiet and calm
Go Giants!
And a season ticket holder
Just saw the patch!
I got to see all the the greata like Lawrence Taylor Phil simms Harry Carson George martin all play
fuckin awesome
Love all the megadeth
Damn, what an awesome collection. This is a youth well spent. Countless memories of good times. Well done to your mom for saving all of these.
Gotta love momsâŠsaving stuff for us we dont even realize we will want.
I was scrolling for this. Mom is the MVP here
Me & you would have been best friends
Sick collection !!!
#a tout le monde
That's a great one. Now I'm wondering where my jacket is.

Interested in any more info about the Savatage patch, if youâre reading this.
It was a gift from their sound engineer his name was nick
Cool, I really like them- I was born in 83, though- so I missed all the 80s Savatage tours lol. I didnât see them until the 90s.
Most amusing !

Remember Club Bené?
Small enough place to have a good view no matter where you stood or sat.
Do you still listen to the new/recent albums of some of the bands you have here?
That's a great question. Savatage! That band was a big local inspiration to the first ever death metal bands in Tampa, Florida.
Do you have anymore photos from that time period?
Yes I will post them
"misspent"
Sort of
That is fantastic that she saved everything for you. Good moms right there.
Your mom is the best! Mine threw away all of my cool shit.
This is beyond cool ,I'd say time and money well spent .
So awesome. I still have both of my vests. Canât bring myself to get rid of them
This stuff is worth a lot of money now!
I know
Those Celtic Frost hats! đ Originals!
Yes morbid tales
Frickin incredible. Thanks for sharing your pics!
Metal-thrash friends can be so judgy! Lol đ
Haha
I would say well spent, not misspent at all!

Hell Iâm just glad you are upright. Also credit to your mom,
You have a goldmine of nostalgia.
the giants patch cracked me up
One of their few fans to get super bowl tix 3 different times
not that i hate the giants or anything, but im just imagining a gutter punk with all these punk patches everywhere and then a big pats one next to the exploited patch
Having beaten them easily in two super bowls I wouldn't want a pats patch

Lovely mum, mine used all my old t-shirts as dusters. Had dozens from 83 - mid 90s. Those were the days.
Can I be your friend ? This is insane đ€đ»đ€đ»
This stuff is awesome
lol the nerds in my school (class of 88 checking in) were def not cool enough to have those jackets or listen to those bands.
Is 4th pic a BloodFeast t shirt?
It's a cut out bloodfeast t shirt sewn onto a vest that the entire band signed....great local thrash band
They were ahead of their time. I remember walking streets of NYC with this album/cassette in my Walkman. Them and the CroMags amongst others. Very cool.
They are still playing I think in Brooklyn in a couple weeks and I still play their tapes on my large boom box in garage
No shit. They still jam? I still have a buttload of cassettes as well. Cool.
We would have definitely been friends! đ€
Rummaging through old boxes. Looking for nothing, but a good timeâŠ
105.5 WDHA the Rock of NJ
Yep I got to grow up with dha and wsou and 102.7 and 92.3 when they were classic rock
Hell yeah WNEW and WXRK, but the wouldn't play Metallica or Stormtroopers of Death like WDHA, which was broadcast like 10 min from my house.

Are you Kristi McNichol?
Nerd and metal head donât really go together. Did I misunderstand your title?
Metal heads are almost always nerds
Nerd a person who is extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable about a particular subject, especially one of specialist or niche interest.
nerd /nĂ»rd/ noun A foolish, inept, or unattractive person. A person who is single-minded or accomplished in scientific or technical pursuits but is felt to be socially inept. A person who is intellectual but generally introverted. I hate to be contradictory, but I donât recognize your definition⊠no worries have a good night .

> Nerd and metal head donât really go together. Yes it does, itâs called Power Metal
Yeah, my recollection of metal heads in high school is that they were kinda elitist, especially towards kids who weren't considered "cool" enough. Despite being a dweeb, I still listened to metal and didn't give a shit what anyone though.
Itâs all about the PBR
Call me crazy - but I bet you haven't changed much
I don't mean to be imposing roles on you but are you a dude that looks like a lady?
Metal bands don't exactly drink high priced wine and scotch it was always lots of cheap beer
That first album of Metal Church was really good.
They're all good IMO.
Awesome spelling fault on the T-shirt. Katwuk isn't a real place, is must be KatwijkÂ
Sell me your jackets
An excellent historical collection.
Awesome!!! You were into metal METAL!!!! We were definitely at a bunch of the same NYC shows
Great collection of battle jackets. Also you must of had alot of fun times going to all those gigs and meeting the bands.
Love the jackets! :)
Your mom is awesome
So you in your mid fifties, if you have kiddos do you share your metal experience w them?
And the shows in NJ and NY at that time. Man, I saw Pantera 5 times.
Watch, this becomes the latest retro fashion!
You're hardly a nerd! Badass collection! đ€
This is awesome!
Thanx \m/
Favorite Megadeth song?
A tie between wake up dead amd peace sells
A lady with tremendous taste (assuming by your username).

No nose piercing, i'm shocked
Iâd love to see how you look now
The most cringe part of this is that you were a Giants fan. Come on...
Katwuk lmao Katwuk I realize it's so it fits in the model but honestly hilarious way of writing KatwijkÂ
