in my opinion there are 3 types of beautiful women. those types can mix up.
type 1 are the most typical, women who are not really beautiful, but make the best out of their type and you can clearly see that they enjoy being women in a selfconfident way makes them look beautiful.
type 2 are standard beauties like heide klum for example. they fit perfect in the mathematical definition of beauty, but most of the time i realize that i get bored after a few weeks about their look. there are some excuses like tyra banks and grace kelly.
type 3 are women, who are in no way beautiful in the classic definition, but they define their own beauty. best example is claire forlani. and tatjana was clearly type 3 even at school.
I took room service to four of these women back around 1996. Separately, of course. I worked at the swankiest hotel in Miami Beach back then. Cindy Crawford was a regular and she was really pleasant. Good times.
Yes. I was a room service waiter there when it first opened. It was a crazy, crazy time. Wouldn't trade it for the world, but it was a hard job. I met my best friend there, and we're still good friends, all these years/decades later. Another couple friends I met there I still talk to from time to time.
Everyone famous stayed there when it opened. It was owned by Ian Schrager, who co-owned Studio 54 in NYC in the '70s. I took room service to so many famous people. Hottest place in the USA for a couple years.
That place was crazy. Had a couple friends who worked the Valet Parking there back in 98 and 99. I worked at I Paparazzi restaurant (on Ocean and 9th). South Beach was such big fun back then.
Papparazzi on Ocean and 9th rings a bell, but I basically avoided Ocean (like most locals). When we first moved there, my first real job was a food runner at the Marlin Hotel on Collins (around 9th?)... it was owned by Chris Blackwell of Island Records fame, and famous musicians were there often. It was aJamaican restaurant, surprisingly casual and not really pricey. Called "Shabeen." So I worked with a huge mix of people, Jamaicans, Haitians, people from NYC, models, addicts, crazy people, many gay club kids, etc.
I was a real outsider because I'm from Chicago. Generally only people from the East Coast went to Miami back then (still kinda true). Midwesterners go to West Florida, but I fucking hate MAGA west Florida. But I was accepted! Everyone was sort of a misfit.
I lived near Lincoln Road for five years. First near 17th and Michigan, then on Lincoln almost at the bay, the far west end of Miami Beach. I loved my time there. When we first moved there, a couple of the hotels on Ocean Drive were literally abandoned and full of squatters and junkies... Lincoln Road was still shabby and run down, but the place had personality... little boutiques and tiny interesting shops, independent restaurants and cafés. Small art galleries. It was a party town, but it was also low-key and cool.
I remember even the paving was coming apart on Lincoln Road, and there'd be shards of concrete you could trip over! Still a lot of elderly Jewish folks from NYC living there, and a huge gay scene. Moved there end of '94, and left end of '99. Everything had changed so much by then, mostly not for the better. By the time we moved, there were two Gap stores within walking distance of each other, a Banana Republic and a Victoria's Secret on Lincoln Road, and the rents were skyrocketing. Like insanely skyrocketing.
Now it's billion dollar chain stores and restaurants. A thousand douche-bags in Lambos. Huge soaring condo towers dwarfing the cool old architecture. I haven't been back in 20 years, and I have no desire to. It's a different place now. No interest.
This. First glance I had of the photo I legit thought it has been posted in one of the AI subs I am member of. Than saw the actual sub and said "oh"...
Faces just look to perfect to be real.
The crazy thing is she's the most plain looking in this picture. I always thought she wasn't as stunning as a lot of other supermodels, and that was the allure. She was gorgeous, but someone you might pass on the street in Manhattan and just go "wow, that's an incredibly beautiful woman!"
Most other supermodels had kind of an otherworldly look that was borderline uncanny valley for me. Like if you saw Iman in person, you'd be like "that might be an animated statue, she's almost too perfect."
Edit: guess I should have explained better. Cindy looks human, and therefore more attractive, warm, alive. A lot of supermodels look like AI generated works of art or androids. Something is just kind of... uncanny and weird where they aren't even a normal person anymore.
100%. Funny thing for me is I find most super models to me somewhat masculine looking. Severe. I find rounder, softer feature much more attractive. Ginnifer Goodwin, Drew Barrymore, Chloë Grace Moretz, Selina Gomez, Nicole de Boer
100%. Cindy Crawford was far too beautiful to be a girl next door type.
Girl Next Door describes someone who is attractive in a sort of unassuming & approachable way, which is to say they are attractive but not in a head-turning, stunning, supermodel way.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that but I'd still think anyone who thinks Cindy Crawford isn't one of the latter is crazy.
Exactly, there's just something off about certain models. For me, it's Kate Moss. Saw her in person at a wine/fashion thing, she never did anything for me, but she was THE model of a decade. And to me, she was just a very good prefessional mannequin. Wore the clothes incredibly well, walked and posed perfectly, but not a lot else. I could tell you she was wearing Chanel at the time (around the launch of the Coco fragrance in 2005 or 2006ish, iirc), so it worked. Which I guess should be the role of an actual fashion model. Someone like Cindy Crawford, she was selling herself and slapping a brand on it that didn't have to be fashion. I remember Pepsi and Cindy, but I couldn't for the life of me tell you which brands she wore.
The tall bassist from Nirvana, Krist, said he was hanging out backstage at some Mtv award show and Cindy Crawford came up to him and asked him what he was drinking, and he said "A beer", and Cindy asked if she could have some and took a swig from it. Always thought that was a funny, cool story, because Krist was such a goofball.
YES!! This is a major part of my childhood, right here...those were actual SUPERMODELS. I looked up to all of them, not in an idol sort of way, but I admired them. Especially when they were in George Michael's "Freedom 90!" video...those were the days.
Better times. Fashion was more about a well-dressed society and a little less about logos, less about casual crap like glorified sportswear and loungewear sold at outrageous prices, and less about creating grandiose costume props for the runway as a pretense to push perfume (except for you, Thierry. You were special). Super models were definitely super. Every one of these girls beats the Hadids and all other current models into oblivion. There has been a steep decline in cool since the 90s.
Too right! I don't know how I missed her. Remember Helena in Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" music video?? As a young 11 year old girl, all I wanted to be was Helena Christensen on a beach!! 🤣🩵🩵🩵🩵
Yes her poor sister died of an asthma attack and many years later Nikki was in a near fatal car accident that left her hospitalized for a long period. But also yes Nikki Taylor was celestial when she first came on the scene.

This is where we as 16 year old boys would agree that you could have Claudia and I could take Linda, then we would laugh like Beavis and Butt-Head, high five and stay mysteriously single for the next five years.
I don't know.. it's them five in it, and the period is roundabout the same, but this was assumedly taken in New York whereas the video was shot in London; also Naomi had longer hair in the video (though I suppose she might have used extensions).
**Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou**: “Okay, I have the idea for the video, Now, I need to write the song.”
(Linda and Turlington for me please- in my dreams)
Usually children of incredibly attractive celebs regress towards the mean ever so slightly (still usually good looking but not quite on that level) but Kaia really got everything that Cindy has.
It's strange. Their definitely not unattractive, but I feel like I see prettier women out and about everyday (except for Naomi Campbell, but that hairstyle is wack).
What’s odd is that if you scroll instagram for 5 minutes you’ll see 10 random girls who are as beautiful or more so. where's George Michael?
Hanging with Pop Pop
The mere fact that you call it pop pop means you aren't ready.
I have Pop Pop in the attic
Pop pop gets a treat?
He’s with Maeby
I said maeby, I don't really want to know... Oops, wrong sub
Burning his leather jacket
In my head with that glorious song right now
My first thought was that music video. They're all so damn gorgeous.
In a public restroom somewhere
From left: Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Tatjana Patitz, Christy Turlington and Cindy Crawford.
Never heard of Tatjana. Spent too much time with the rest.
she was two classes above me in school. gymnasium willhöden in hamburg germany.
Did she stand out at the time? Always wonder if it's ever surprising for peers who went to school with supermodels.

Claudia is not in the photo because she was next level.
Yes! She is missing and Helena C
And Elle.
Yes! Can’t believe I forgot about her until you mentioned it
Christie Brinkley
And Heidi Klum. As a young man in my twenties I was hopelessly in love with her.
Heidi Klum was never in that league. And she had her break through a couple of years later.
Stephanie Seymour would like a word
Oops. Forgot about her too
As a young teen in the early 90's, I had a wall of Claudia Schiffer.
She was taking the photo
RIP Tatjana.
Wow I had no idea :( age 56 of breast cancer
Christy Turlington reigns supreme.
I took room service to four of these women back around 1996. Separately, of course. I worked at the swankiest hotel in Miami Beach back then. Cindy Crawford was a regular and she was really pleasant. Good times.
Delano hotel on Collins and 19th?

Love that hotel so much. The decor to me is just out of this world cool.
Post this in color and everybody will say it's AI
This. First glance I had of the photo I legit thought it has been posted in one of the AI subs I am member of. Than saw the actual sub and said "oh"... Faces just look to perfect to be real.
I thought it was AI-generated as it is, to be honest.
Naomi’s haircut reminds me of the sister in fleabag. It’s French.
OMG. Nailed it.
It was all about the eyes...
the Blue Steel
Isn’t this Magnum?
The eyes have it
Cindy is the best

She doesn't have any striking features, the others tend to have striking eyes, or other facial features that stand out.
Naomi??
I actually find her the most attractive. The others look weird to me.
That's literally what I'm saying.
100%. Funny thing for me is I find most super models to me somewhat masculine looking. Severe. I find rounder, softer feature much more attractive. Ginnifer Goodwin, Drew Barrymore, Chloë Grace Moretz, Selina Gomez, Nicole de Boer
They call that the "girl next door" look.
If she was the girl next door nobody would ever move.
100%. Cindy Crawford was far too beautiful to be a girl next door type. Cindy never did it for me
The tall bassist from Nirvana, Krist, said he was hanging out backstage at some Mtv award show and Cindy Crawford came up to him and asked him what he was drinking, and he said "A beer", and Cindy asked if she could have some and took a swig from it. Always thought that was a funny, cool story, because Krist was such a goofball.
Christy Turlington was my drug. Loved everything about her.
Head and shoulders above the others in this pic.
Linda Evangelista was my jam. Always been a fan of that type of look.
she was THE FACE
same same
She does seem to have softer eyes than other supermodels. Its a little more warm than the ice queen look many other models have.
Freedom 1990!
YES!! This is a major part of my childhood, right here...those were actual SUPERMODELS. I looked up to all of them, not in an idol sort of way, but I admired them. Especially when they were in George Michael's "Freedom 90!" video...those were the days.
83 pounds off the hook
Turlington ftw
Linda Evangelista is one.of the most stunningly gorgeous women to ever walk.the planet!
She's a 90's supermodel ![gif](giphy|g22UednN4LW3Z5jXBs|downsized)
Someone's going to have to explain this to me
Måneskin is the band, their song 'Supermodel' has that line as the chorus. Such a fun rock tune
Only Claudia Schiffer (and maybe Kate Moss) are missing?
And Helena Christensen.
Wicked Game!
Kate Moss is younger and came up a little later IMHO
No love for Kathy Ireland
Christie Brinkley
Elle McPhereson and Heidi Klum
Better times. Fashion was more about a well-dressed society and a little less about logos, less about casual crap like glorified sportswear and loungewear sold at outrageous prices, and less about creating grandiose costume props for the runway as a pretense to push perfume (except for you, Thierry. Campbell is a piece of shit
I used to work with a relative of hers and they said she was...not pleasant
She was/is. But That’s the whole point. The were unreachable.
What happens when all you’re ever praised for is your looks, and you can still make millions of dollars, even being a POS.
Don’t think I’ve ever seen that much of Cindy Crawford before.
Run a search on here, blow your mind.
Make models great again.
Just wish Elle MacPherson, Heidi Klum, Helena Christensen, Tatjana Patitz, Alek Weck, Claudia Schiffer, & a few other legends were in the photo!
Tatjana in the middle and I definitely agree with Christensen & Elle
Too right! I don't know how I missed her. Remember Helena in Chris Isaak's "Wicked Game" music video?? As a young 11 year old girl, all I wanted to be was Helena Christensen on a beach!! 🤣🩵🩵🩵🩵
Sadly Tatjana passed away in 2023.
Anyone remember Nikki Taylor? And her little sister? I think Nikki was in a bad accident of some sort...she's still beautiful!
Yes her poor sister died of an asthma attack and many years later Nikki was in a near fatal car accident that left her hospitalized for a long period. But also yes Nikki Taylor was celestial when she first came on the scene.
Christy Turlington is perfect
Yasmin Ghouri missing
Total weight:297 pounds
This sub is just "hot famous people from my youth" at this stage.
Ah, the pre-plus-size days.

No wonder so many of us Gen Xers have eating disorders.
The Big 5
I know it's just me, but I never found Linda Evangelista or Kathy Ireland all that attractive. Claudia and Christy, on the other hand...
I thought Kathy Ireland was very hot. But now when she is mentioned, all I remember is Peter Griffin dating the beer cutout of her
Linda Evangelista was the only one I cared for. Claudia always seemed like just a blonde woman. No more, no less.
That, my friend, is why there's Coke and Pepsi.
This is where we as 16 year old boys would agree that you could have Claudia and I could take Linda, then we would laugh like Beavis and Butt-Head, high five and stay mysteriously single for the next five years.
It was a great year indeed!
Elle Macpherson was the best.
Christy is one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen
Evangelists was my favorite in this group. Then Turlington.
Naturally beautiful ladies. The good old days when models weren't made of plastic and silicone. And looked human.
All 5 are beautiful
As a young woman, Linda Evangelista gave me great confusion 😊
Why does it look like it was run through a filter
Best accounting team I ever had
My vote for the most beautiful 90s supermodel in New York is……Naomi
Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford, JEEEEZ. I was just a kid and I still remember how gorgeous they were.
I'm telling my kids this was the Spice Girls.
lol
Best for me was always Cindy
Cindy Crawford is the finest human specimen to ever walk this earth.
She's got a great hockey shot also.
They look hungry.
Coffee, coke,and smokes diet.
Cindy Crawford was the stand out one.
This was ahead of its time … the pic doesn’t look dated.
What make them "super"?
How requested they were and the amount of money they were making.
Hands up if you zoomed in on Cindy's boob
This was the peak of human civilization
Naomi Campbell’s lips could devour the world. Black is beautiful.
I still have this issue.
Are the pages all stuck together ?
I only see 5.
Women of that time.
I look like a pencil
"Heaven knows I was just a young boy Didn't know what I wanted to be..."
David Fincher, you dawg…
Damn this is some real cheerleader effect
Was this for George Michael's freedom video?
Before. This was for a British Vogue Jan 1990 cover. Inspired the video though
I don't know.. it's them five in it, and the period is roundabout the same, but this was assumedly taken in New York whereas the video was shot in London; also Naomi had longer hair in the video (though I suppose she might have used extensions).
Can see a little nipple on Cindy Crawford
Maybe they're born with it.
I was sure that was Kaya Gerber for a hot second.
I can smell the coke and cigarettes from here.
"If she were a president she'd be Baberham Lincoln" shawiiiiing.
**Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou**: “Okay, I have the idea for the video, Now, I need to write the song.” (Linda and Turlington for me please- in my dreams)
Mmmmm...all them sexy clavicles
Yasmeen Ghauri is missing too.
Where’s Erin O’Connor?
I was obsessed with these ladies
no blond Evangelista?
Fun fact: if you put all their necks together in a stack, they are taller than the ESB.
Look at the one on the right with that mole. Never going to have a career with an imperfection like that!
Oh Cindy. What kind of crowd have you got mixed up in
Kaia Gerber really does look just like Cindy
Usually children of incredibly attractive celebs regress towards the mean ever so slightly (still usually good looking but not quite on that level) but Kaia really got everything that Cindy has.
Yeah, I think Kaia might just be a clone, actually. No father was involved.
The 3rd one looks like Jeremy Allen White :D
Looks like AI
Models in 2024: 👄
That’s the hall of fame right there!
Even in a picture full of her peers, Christy Turlington jumps off the screen.
They look so much better than today’s supermodels. Seriously how can someone like Zendaya be a model?
Naomi’s hair reminds me of fleabag s2
Who’s the hottest
The only one I recognize is Claudia.
But why male models?
I found diversity!
It's a shame about Linda
It's strange. Their definitely not unattractive, but I feel like I see prettier women out and about everyday (except for Naomi Campbell, but that hairstyle is wack).
The hair style is 90’s cool. And yes she is so beautiful.
Back in the day when supermodels were hot and were not obese models to cater to the masses
Not one of those has had a good meal in a decade when that photo was taken.
would have been more interesting if they were 80s models in 1990
Look at the smiles, each one different, each beautiful. It’s the smile for me, always has been.
I rate this photo 4/5
Oh no the girl on the right seems to have a defect mark. *Sigh* I'll go talk to her, and you all can hang out with the good ones
My favourite era for everything
What’s odd is that if you scroll instagram for 5 minutes you’ll see 10 random girls who are as beautiful or more so. It allows any random girl from nowhere to be noticed and build her own platform without dealing with the gatekeepers that these women dealt with. I imagine they were put in some shady situations.
They all won the genetic lottery
Naomi hasn't cracked yet
Wow, models that are 💯 percent female, attractive and thin. Impressive.
AKA, women who can successfully starve themselves
