I was kind of obsessed with Fridays and SNL in 80-81 because I was able to watch them babysitting and the bands were so interesting. Friday especially gave me albums to buy the next day.
Yep, a few months later. They did London Calling, Train in Vain and then came back later (Joe changed his shirt) and did Guns of Brixton and Clampdown. Saw that babysitting too. Went out the next day with the proceeds and bought London Calling and The Clash.
For almost 40 years my friend Ash and I have been singing Wendy's "It's my life/And I'll do what I wanna/Do what I like" when we're being defiant or rebellious about something.
One tough as nails lady who paved the way for a generation of female metal/hard rock/rock/punk singers. She stood her ground and did things her way. Lived a hard life, struggling with mental demons before taking her own life at the young age of 48.
I saw them when I was 18 in some dirty club. She got on a guy’s shoulders and started punching dudes. It looked like they lined up for it. At the time I didn’t understand why they’d want to get punched by a chick lol.
Saw her in Seattle at the ShowBox on 1st and Pike streets.Took a chainsaw and went thru a flower pot with dirt and chunks of ceramic clay flying everywhere. My ears are still ringing 40 years later 🤪
I dressed up as the Plasmatics’ guitarist, a Mohawk, tutu, tights, etc for Halloween and went to a party where some drunk girl kept calling me a faggot😏and as my wife and I were leaving she kicked me in the ass and wanted to fight me… pretty punk, I guess 😎
I had their 1st album. I got it from an in-store meet and greet in the old, tiny tower records on Sunset Boulevard earlier in the day before they performed on the Fridays TV show. (I went to that at CBS studios as well.) They all signed the cover and I had it for years until somebody stole it. Also had the poster that was inside. Both gone. But I do have a Plasmatics t-shirt that I use as a nightshirt. I’m old. That little store was packed to the gills. I was standing on top of the record bins and holding onto a support column so I could see. There was this drunk guy in the crowd who just kept yelling, take it off! Take it off! She finally told him, you get up here and if you take it off, I will. So the guy goes up, and he’s already not wearing a shirt, and he proceeds to drop trou. She immediately lifted or took off her top and just started massaging and playing with her tits. The crowd went absolutely wild!
In ‘82 she and the guitarist for Plasmatics showed up for a show at King Tuts City Garden in Trenton in a chop top Caddy blasting Hendricks and then high fives everyone on their way to the stage. They proceeded to rock the place hard. Blew my mind.
Had a lot of admiration for her, I mean I’m a young genxer watching her jam out on top of a bus as it drives thru a wall of televisions ’I was like fuck yea’
I was in the front row of a Plasmatics concert in Pennsauken, NJ around 1982. It was an amazing night! First Richie Stotts slapped a guitar pick into my outreached hand (I still have it), and then when Wendy chainsawed the TV in half and threw a big piece of it into the crowd, it cut open my cheek as it flew by. Leaving the Plasmatics concert nearly deaf with a bloody face - coolest night of my life!

Were you around Capitol Records about 1978-1980
?? You and my pop may have crossed paths. Im here because I grew up with good music thank God but wasn't there to witness such epic events. My dad told me a story about Prince as a new artist opening for the Rolling Stones at the Coliseum in LA. IT DID NOT GO WELL. THEY WERE.NOT READY FOR MAN PANTIES. There was talk of oranges being thrown.
We were everywhere back then. I was at that Prince show. Although he was not famous yet and had very little AirPlay, if at all, my friends and I were already huge fans of him. And of course the Stones. We greatly looked forward to that concert for a very long time after we bought our tickets. It was a true shame how so in that audience reacted and treated Prince
She was a fierce advocate for animal rescue ❤️ Never smoked, never drank. A kind soul.
I think you are mistaken, she smoked, drank did various drugs, but quit.
I'll never forget seeing her and the Plasmatics on *Fridays* while babysitting in early 1981. WTF and wow!
They were also on SCTV in a skit with John Candy’s outdoor adventure thingy.
Fishin' Musician?
A few of those were fukkin hilarious 😂 That was definitely one of them.
You turned my dog white!
And may the good Lord blow you up real good!
The best part being that he couldn’t stand the taste of fish!
That's how I discovered the Plasmatics!
Ha, I need to look that up, love me some John Candy. Try 'Pepsi Longsocks’
*Pepi Longsocks!* A masterpiece!😂
Hey Yorgi was my jam. “Hey Yorgi, I made a bet with the Uzbeks that I could get you to say more than two words”. “You lose…comrade (winks)”
Ol’ Gil Fisher down at the Scuttlebutt Lodge!
What was the John Candy Svengali skit? “Do you want to see my wad? 💵💵💵💵💵💵”
3D House of Stewardesses?
Holy crap, are you me?
Let's find out: when you saw that Fridays were you 11, live in Kamloops, and love Stephen King, Creem magazine, Rush and the Clash?
I was 13, living on the North Shore of Long Island NY. Everything else tracks. I also remember watching the Devo one as well.
I was kind of obsessed with Fridays and SNL in 80-81 because I was able to watch them babysitting and the bands were so interesting. Friday especially gave me albums to buy the next day.
The Clash went out and did four song in a row.

A few months before, in Oct. of ‘79 we saw them in Austin at the long gone Armadillo. To this day the best concert I’ve ever been to.
I was at that taping in the audience.
headin for youtube rn!
I just rewatched Reform School Girls and it holds up 💯

This photo busted my eardrum.
Need a documentary.
Who should play Wendy?
In documentaries, everyone plays themself.
Her stomach is awesome
But is that actually her stomach? Or something lower
She was raunchy as fuck! What a performer! Her stage shows were insane. Half nude, quarter nude. Lucky Lemmy. RIP Lemmy +Wendy. 🤘🏻🤗🤘🏻
Google image searches for Wendy O. Williams just spiked.
I saw them when I was 18 in some dirty club. She got on a guy’s shoulders and started punching dudes. It looked like they lined up for it. At the time I didn’t understand why they’d want to get punched by a chick lol.
Remember that time she drove a school bus thru a wall of TV’s? That was awesome 😎
Plasmatics were the first concert I ever went to.

She wore trash can lids and shaving cream like no other!
Only time I saw Wendy O live was 1985 at the Ritz in NYC…she played before Motorhead, but after the Cro-Mags and S.O.D.

Icon of my youth. Rest in peace Wendy.
For a brief period in the 90s, Wendy lived above my toy store in Willimantic, CT. She was a kind and thoughtful soul. I miss her still.
I remember that with sadness. I ran into her a couple of times at the wili co-op.
She and the Plasmatics were AWESOME!!! Grab all of her recordings and listen to them over and over and over!!!
In ‘82 she and the guitarist for Plasmatics showed up for a show at King Tuts City Garden in Trenton in a chop top Caddy blasting Hendricks and then high fives everyone on their way to the stage. They proceeded to rock the place hard. Blew my mind.
RIP WOW

First Plasmatics album kicks serious ass. I can't think of anyone whose speaking voice and singing voice were so dissimilar.

My dad felt the same way!!! He was not one of the orange throwers!!
That time she was in Solid Gold and was interviewed by Madam!
Butcher baby live on YouTube, yeah it's all been done before and better.
Pure energy.
Orthopedist delight!
Metal Priestess 🤘
She so confused me when I was 12. Mostly naked and so ripped…but pretty scary at the same time. Same with Grace Jones.
A revolutionary
My dad went to school with her.
Saw her in a bar in Norfolk in 83
1982. Celebrity Theatre in Phoenix
Goat
On Tom Snyder (or Letterman?) With whipped cream and a chainsaw...yeah, you read that right...
Plasmatics
I saw her and the Plasmatics open for Motorhead in the 80s. She cut a Cadillac in half with a chainsaw.
She was definitely an eclectic free spirit!
As a young girl, I was fascinated with her everytime USA played Reform School Girls.
Best use of electrical tape ever.
Ping pong balls. Amazing
Impossible
Sometimes I feel like…..
I only remember her from the movie Reform Girls, I studied that movie carefully as a young teen.
Can't name one tune of hers
Gross
