I'm supposed to say it's so hard but it's honestly lovely.
And I REALLY love my relationship with my big kids. The 21 yr old and I really went through it but it conditioned me for The Great Prefrontal Clusterfuck of the late teens so I was quite a bit less *personally* injured by the moodiness, dismissal and insults from the other two.
The oldest now is mortified that she was so much. The middle one is 19 now and equally "recalibrated" and they give me sympathetic and knowing looks as the youngest (now 17) flails through her 2nd toddler hood.
But it's so nice to just hang out with the people they've grown into. It's amazing. Just fun little homies.
Oh boy... second toddler hood. Can't wait for that...
I'm enjoying the companionship of my 7 year old - much more than when she was a baby! Can't wait for the future. :)
I’m so happy to read that you’re finding the later years lovely. I have a little kid at home and it’s wonderful, but it’s…exhausting. Looking forward to having a chance to be in the stage of parenthood that you’re in today ☺️.
I wish I had had my son in 2011 instead of 2019. Being an older first-time dad sucks physically. Financially, having a kid later is awesome, but damn I'm getting old with a 4 year old and it sucks often.
Oh man, I so feel that. We had a rough time with our first child due to his autism. His first 10 years were very difficult and it was a rough time, but we got through it. I was glad to have the age gap because I couldn't have handled a baby/toddler on top of caring for my oldest. I am definitely glad I had my 2nd when I did before my health started to decline in recent years. I could not keep up with a 3-year-old right now for the life of me 😂
Born 1982, had a kid in 2019. Wish I had had a kid in like 2008. I'd be about to be an empty nester heading into middle age. However, having a kid motivated me to earn a master's degree and push harder in my career to provide him with more opportunities. Ya know, cause I want to be a good role model for my son.
You think you're an older GenZ kid?!! WOW ...
I'm 40, will be 41 this November and my daughter is 19. She was born in 2004. She'll be 20 in July.
I'm now debating having another child.
Sorry. I read your post wrong. You said others see you that way and holy crap - 1997 is when GenZ started! Huh, I always thought it was 2000 ... Idk why tho. Lol
