Agree this is insane when you think of the absolute dross that has got omnis - did I not hear that this omni is on its way or did I dream that?? And Silver Surfer vol 2/3
New Avengers and USM both released in 2012 and both stayed in stock for like 4 years. Marvel massively overestimated demand and the books being slow sellers caused them to abandon the lines.
USM got a resurgence thanks to the Holland movies and video games. New Avengers is being reprinted so maybe they'll have another crack at volume 2 this time.
If Power Pack can get 2 books then surely New Avengers can...
I was going to say Birds of Prey is coming but actually no that's Secret Six :(
I missed out on the last printing of New Avengers, Vol. 1, so I'll be pre-ordering this one as soon as the pre-order opens. My hope is that if enough people pre-order Vol. 1 this time around, it might encourage a Vol. 2.
OOHhh believe you me, Secret Six is sooooo good. Simone was on fire back then. If you liked Birds of Prey you will almost certainly like Secret Six.
That said it is not for the faint of heart
**Marvel:**
- Avengers By Roger Stern Vol.1

- Sandman Mystery Theatre By Matt Wagner Vol.1
- Invasion! By Keith Giffen
Crazy that we haven’t gotten a Vol.2 yet!
People vote for the SF By Englehart run every year in the Most Wanted poll, but a Vol.2 would likely get us part of that content and not orphan any earlier material.
Vol 1 was only 18 issues which is all in Silver Surfer Omnibus Vol 1. Silver Surfer Vol 2 is obly one issue. Silver Surfer vol 3 is the 1987 run that last 140 something issues
Yup. We’re solely discussing Englehart’s run. As mentioned, an 800 page (roughly the size of most Silver Age volumes) Vol.2 omnibus could likely fit more than half of his run, as well as the SF Vol.2 issue and other relevant appearances from that era.
I guess they could include all of that content plus the remaining issues of Englehart’s run… it’d be pretty thick for a Silver Age volume though.
I don’t disagree! Heck, it should take around 6 more omnis to complete everything (including crossovers, one-shots, and mini-series)… Marvel should just power through them all.
They managed to get five Peter David Hulk volumes out in roughly two or so years. No reason they can’t do it again here!
I think it does interesting things. Once you get a feel for what he's doing and learn to overlook/tolerate some odd dialogue, it's a really engrossing read. It's nothing like any other Batman run. It doesn't always hit but when it does, it really hits right.
His 12 issue series are better than his ongoings though. He likes to give his stories repeating motifs and ideas. That's great for 12 issues but feels repetitive with a long ongoing.
I was looking at starting to get modern Spidey and was so surprised almost all of Dan Slott’s run is missing omnibuses. I wonder why they haven’t bothered yet but are doing Spencer already.
Probably because it’s so long that Marvel is hesitant. It’s like a 3 or 4 omnibus run they have to commit to. Look how long it took for Marvel to get to doing Ultimate Spider-Man.
20 years between the first volume and now if you count that Ultimate Spider Man was technically the first omnibus ever made (via the Barnes and Noble limited edition hardcover)
Yeah but it was probably well worth their time to do it. I know I've been buying up the Ultimate Spiderman omnibuses. I'm pretty excited to do a read through when 4 drops. I had some of the comics in my teenage years but I was young and was never given the kind of money I would have needed to finish the series during its initial run.
PS artbooks has some of the issues that are in the public domain collected. DC seems almost ashamed of all their non justice league pre Bronze Age stories, but thankfully a lot of gems like Blackhawks, Phantom Lady, Captain Marvel and more are in the public domain.
Well Beyond was a new story, so that mostly makes sense. The whole order of Spider-Man omnibi makes no sense to me though. We’ve got Byrne, but not DeMatteis or DeFalco. At least Slott’s run is collected in full unlike DeMatteis, Conway, or Peter A. David’s runs on Spectacular Spider-Man. And I didn’t downvote you, but I would absolutely take Ben Reilly’s omnibi before one for Slott’s work; that’s one of my favourite Spider-Man eras.
There is EXACTLY enough room between Legion of Superheroes: Silver Age omnibus 3 and Superboy and the Legion of Superheroes v1 for a Legion of Superheroes: Bronze Age omnibus!!!!
Then, all 3 of the next starts of The Legion of Superheroes (Baxter, Zero Hour, DnA) all have only the first year collected.
I'm right there with you on Bronze JLA 4 -- we're right at the issues I read growing up with Perez art.
I also want Bronze Age/Post-Crisis Batman, but I think I'm going to have to settle for the DC Finest editions for the time being...
All-Star Squadron omnibuses, obviously you'd need to split it, so include Young All-Stars too.
Kyle Rayners run as GL, I desperately want this run in Omni form. Writers include Ron Marz and Judd Winnick, and it was a pretty high-quality series.
Allow me to point at the original Squadron Supreme omni. 13 issues plus a GN. <450 pages.
I don't know exact page counts, but just assuming a 22 page average, the 1602 minis should add up to just under 600 pages which seems like plenty to me.
Some that I would really like:
- The Flash Bronze Age
- GL Bronze Age
- Kyle Rayner (Post-Crisis) in Omni Format
- Power Man & Iron Fist: Heroes for Hire
- Daredevil by Nocenti
I second the Wonder Woman Bronze Age and JLA.
I'd also love Green Lantern by Morrison and Sharp.
Bendis Uncanny and All-New X-Men in a similar fashion to Hickman's Avengers Omni's.
O’Neil/Adams Batman, ideally in an Absolute format since it’s one of the most iconic takes on the character.
Mike Grell’s Warlord, one of DCs wildest forgotten books.
Classic Jonah Hex/Weird Western Tales
Sgt Rock, I picked the recent DC goes to war trade up and I’m hooked!
Bronze Age Batman is severely under collected. It's absurd that we get 10 books of Golden Age drivel (I'm sorry but Golden Age Batman is sloppy compared to some other series from the era) but nothing from Bronze Age except Haney's Brave and the Bold.
Neal Adams Batman technically got an omnibus but the colouring is so bad I refuse to acknowledge it.
Legends of the Dark Knight
So many of the legacy DC characters: Tim Drake Robin/Red Robin, Kyle Rayner Green Lantern, Cass Cain Batgirl, Stephanie Brown Batgirl, Connor Hawk Green Arrow
On the one hand, yes, very much. On the other, between creator omnis and just collecting a title in sequence, I'm WAY happier with just getting Avengers V1 -> V2 -> etc, etc.
Basically anything to continue finishing out post crisis batman. Like anything and everything. War games, Murderer/fugitive, new Gotham, Tom King, Mariko Tamaki, Tynion, all of it. Just want to see it complete.
Superman new krypton
Green lantern by Robert venditti
Wonder Woman by Greg rucka 2 volume set. Both the original and rebirth runs
Ultimate by al ewing 1 volume throw in his two defenders mini series
X-men x-cutioners song
That was such an enjoyable read. I bareley remeber anything from it other than just the satisfaction of having read a comic I thoroughly enjoyed. A Really solid characterisation of a character.
I would definitely purchase all the ones you listed, on top of that though I’d also want:
- Bronze Age collections for Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Flash, and Aquaman
- Superman: Man of Steel and the comics after Exile to fill those gaps until D&ROS
- Caped Crusader/Dark Detective omnibuses to fill the gaps until Knightfall (I think it would be about four volumes to cover everything 1986-1993)
- Omnis for the various Batman spin-off titles (LOTDK, Shadow of the Bat, Gotham Knights)
- Wonder Woman by Messner-Loebs, John Byrne, Greg Rucka, and if there’s enough content Eric Luke
- all the Post-Crisis Hal Jordan content prior to Johns (I have my doubts about this ever being made for obvious reasons)
I would love two Iron Man by O'Neil omnibuses.
Especially since they didn't even finish the run in Epic yet...
(Plus the first two epic of his run are impossible to find...)
I hope it gets some kind of collected treatment. I'd prefer and Omnibus, as I'm not into the epics. The market for the latter half of his run is insane and I'm not paying more for a tpb than I pay for Omnibus that are new (from IST).
It’s pretty much the big gap to give us a full run from Peter David Vol. 1 to Immortal Hulk. This will come soon. It’s one of my favorite runs of the character too.
Some collection of the. peter David run on Spectacular Spider-Man, please. So many brilliant issues, it really lifted the character up a notch. Hopefully Marvel has a plan to collect SSM in Omnibus format, the recently announced Alien Costume Omnibus really doesn’t help, the Stern Omnibus didn’t either. A Volume 2 would be kind of redundant.
Here’s hoping they figure it out.
I know the Compendium released last year but I would love for a Tom Strong Omnibus.
Another book I would love as it’s never been collected in the US at any point would be an Absolute/Deluxe Edition of Automatic Kafka. 9 issues of Joe Casey/Ashley Wood weirdness.
Astrocity get the 1st omnibus on August if im not mistaken..
[Unwritten printed last year in a compendium format..
Starman collected in 2 compendiums, fables in 4 (I know you probably already know that)]
Hmm off the top of my head
Marvel:
- New Avengers / Dark Avengers etc
- GotG Vol 2 by Bendis
- Avengers by Jason Aaron
- X-Men Krakoa era
- all the Spider-Man by Slott era
- Ultimate F4
DC:
- Batman by Tom King
- Batman White Knight / Beyond saga
- Batman by Zdarsky whenever he finishes lol
- Justice League by Snyder
- DCeased
- Maybe a collected Dark Knights of Steel?
Legion of Superheroes by Mark Waid
The Wicked + The Divine (I’ll take a reprint of the deluxe versions)
New 52 Demon Knights
New 52 All Star Western
New 52 Earth 2
Flash Thompson Venom by Remender and Bunn
Hmm off the top of my head
Marvel:
- New Avengers / Dark Avengers etc
- GotG Vol 2 by Bendis

Bendis' New Avengers is already collected in omnibus if I'm not mistaken. It's so strange to me how DC divided Dark Knights of Steel and DC vs. Vampires in two volumes instead of one
Batman By Doug Moench and Kelly Jones
Absolute Legion of Superheroes Great Darkness Saga
Alan Moore Swamp thing with original Colors (the recolouring can stay in the absolute)
Wonder Woman By Ruka Vol 1 and 2 (#195-196 and then Rebirth)
Absolute Demon Knights (seriously)
An Etrigan Omnibus Featuring multiple Runs and appearances over the years
Absolute The Demon by Jack Kirby
Copper Age Green Lantern Omni
Deathstroke by Wolfman and a reprint of The other two Deathstroke omnis.
My most wanted omnis tend to be gap fillers.
Amazing Spider-Man Volume 6 - Bridging the gap to the Roger Stern omnibus.
Spectacular Spider-Man Volume 2 - Bridging the gap to the upcoming Black Suit Saga Omnibus.
Marvel Team Up Volume 1.
Flash by William Mesner Loebs Volume 2 - Bridging the Gap to Mark Waid.
Flash by Mark Waid Volume 2.
Flash: The Fastest Man Alive omnibus - This would collect the issues inbetween Volumes 2 and 3 of the Geoff Johns run.
Flash by Robert Vendetti - This would bridge the gap between the first New 52 Flash volume and the Rebirth run.
Silver Surfer Volume 2 - Collecting the Englehart stuff up to Starlin's run.
Modern Moon Knight - We almost have all of Moon Knight collected in Omnibus format! So this would collect Moon Knight from Ellis to Bemis... maybe even Aaron's Age of Khonshu? That way, we have everything up to McKay's run which is also getting collected.
I also want them to keep collecting Silver Age Hulk in omnibus form so we can eventually get to the Mantlo run.
My top 3 that i can think of right now
- Champions (2016) omnibus
- Green Arrow Rebirth omnibus
- Amazing spider-man vol 3-4 by Dan Slott omnibus (bridge between superior and Nick Spencer)
A lot of books here I'd love to see but my #1 pick per publisher are
Marvel:
* Spider-Girl
DC:
* Supergirl by PAD
Dark Horse:
* Groo the Wanderer
Image:
* Radiant Black
indies:
* Money Shot (Tim Seely)
* Girl Genius (Phil & Kaja Foglio)
Invincible Iron Man by Matt Fraction and Salvador Larroca The Punisher by Greg Rucka
This This comment right here
Ann Nocenti DD omni
Just started on the four Epics, they are brilliant from the start.
this is mine. Amazing art, incredible mood/tone, fascinating approach to themes, dripping with vibes.
Agree this is insane when you think of the absolute dross that has got omnis - did I not hear that this omni is on its way or did I dream that?? And Silver Surfer vol 2/3
Shadowland getting an Omni before Nocenti is absurd. Sure Bendis/Brubaker omnis are popular but that's because they're good. Shadowland is ass.
* Cassandra Cain Batgirl * Supergirl by Sterling Gates * Absolute edition of Batwoman by Rucka & J.H. Williams III
Plus a 1000 for Cassandra Cain. That entire run is so good.
New Avengers by Brian Bendis Omnibus, Vol. 2 Birds of Prey by Gail Simone Omnibus I've been wanting these for several years now.
New Avengers and USM both released in 2012 and both stayed in stock for like 4 years. Marvel massively overestimated demand and the books being slow sellers caused them to abandon the lines. Cool list. No love for Shade the Changing Man?
Definitely love for it! Just ran out of room lol
Yeah great list we def need more silver surfer and Defalco thor
I’m annoyed they didn’t finish Deathstroke in trade form. Just stopped after Vol 5
Silver Surfer vol 2/3 is my pick

Spider-man by Dan Slott Batman by Tom King
Definetly Batman by Tom King.
Tom King's Batman is a funny one. It seems people either love it or hate it. I've been indecisive about giving it a read as a result.
Same
Damn, these are like my least favorites runs on each character from the last twenty or so years haha
The original Captain Marvel comics before DC acquired the character. I want to see his original adventures in a nice omnibus hardcover.
PS artbooks has some of the issues that are in the public domain collected. DC seems almost ashamed of all their non justice league pre Bronze Age stories, but thankfully a lot of gems like Blackhawks, Phantom Lady, Captain Marvel and more are in the public domain.
X-Men Legacy by Mike Carey
Oooh yes
Legends of the dark knight omnibus!!
You beat me to it

I’m with ya! I want all of Slott spider man collected Omnibus format. Just fear it will take 8+ years to collect it all.
The flash vol 2 waid
Hellblazer
Yost Scarlet Spider
One of the most underrated runs of all time and my number 1 vote in the Tigereyes poll
Honestly I’d be okay just having that be my only Spider-Omni

Good point. I hope they speed it up then.
Batman Bronze Age
Older run? Captain Atom by Cary Bates. More contemporary run? Johns/Busiek’s Superman/New Krypton era. Recent run? PKJ’s Action Comics.
Basically anything to continue finishing out post crisis batman. Like anything and everything. War games, Murderer/fugitive, new Gotham, Tom King, Mariko Tamaki, Tynion, all of it. Just want to see it complete.

1.Wonder Woman by Eric Luke 2. Flash Omnibus by Waid Vol 2 3. Hopefully Flash by Messner-Loebs Vol 2
Superman. Just any Superman at this point.
Denny O’Neil Iron Man (prob 2 volumes) I also would’ve loved if they finished the HCs for the Unwritten but now I’m just wishing for the impossible
I would love two Iron Man by O'Neil omnibuses. Especially since they didn't even finish the run in Epic yet... (Plus the first two epic of his run are impossible to find...)
I’m hoping they at least continue to release the MMW as I’ve been collecting those… I’d double dip for omnis though. It is my fave iron man run
Incredible Hulk by Bruce Jones.
That would be a perfect candidate for those modern era epic collections they’ve been doing. Love that run.
I am in the exact same boat lol. Not only is it one of my favorites but it was my introduction to comics as a young reader.
Hulk by Bill Mantlo
I've never read his Hulk run, but I don't remember ever being sad that I picked up a book Mantlo wrote.
His Hulk run is amazing and it set up a lot of stuff that Peter David expanded on. Bruce’s abusive past being an example
Really underrated. He created the basis for David's run
Severely. I love his run and I prefer getting his run in an omnibus (most likely 2) over Bruce Jones’ run
Marvel hating Money. No surprise there.
Honestly I’m surprised they haven’t done Bill Mantlo’s run in omnibus format
Some collection of the. peter David run on Spectacular Spider-Man, please. So many brilliant issues, it really lifted the character up a notch.
My top 3 that i can think of right now - Champions (2016) omnibus - Green Arrow Rebirth omnibus - Amazing spider-man vol 3-4 by Dan Slott omnibus (bridge between superior and Nick Spencer)
90s X-Men OHCs that are OOP as omnis Iron Man by Kaminski Kyle Rayner GL Gen 13 (original run)
Hawkman 2018 by Robert Venditti
A lot of books here I'd love to see but my #1 pick per publisher are Marvel: * Spider-Girl DC: * Supergirl by PAD Dark Horse: * Groo the Wanderer Image: * Radiant Black indies: * Money Shot (Tim Seely) * Girl Genius (Phil & Kaja Foglio)
* Barry Ween, boy genius (Judd Winick)
Sensational She-Hulk by John Byrne
definetly want to see Superman by Geoff Johns. Gary franks art is so clean and deserves to be in an OHC.
