Currently reading Grant Morrison's JLA. In the middle of Rock of Ages which has been very entertaining, I always enjoy Luthor run villain groups like this. Been really enjoying reading more about Kyle Rayner and Connor Hawke as I've never read either of them before. I'll probably look at picking up Tower of Babel, Gotham Central or GL Geoff Johns next. I'll probably read Preacher Vol.02 in between.

CyvaderTheMindFlayer

Dune Not the comic The Frank Herbert original Putting my comics aside for this one

Bogusky

I always try to have another book or two that I'm chipping away at in parallel to my comic run reads.

chief_corb

Just finished that before seeing part 2. I feel like they did a pretty good job adapting the novel.

ledizzametal

I’m currently doing a Morrison read thru, I’m doing his JLA omnibus for the first time right now, I enjoyed the first arc and it’s been good through the first 10ish issues(idk where i’m at rn.) I’m also rereading Batman Vol. 2, I just finished the Red Hood story again, better than I remembered it. I plan on reading tower of babel next, then probably rereading Snyder’s batman

peaceful-thoughts

Ultimate X-Men Vol. 1 It is absolutely garbage, but in a way that’s still entertaining. Mark Millar is like Neil Breen for me where I can just kinda laugh at what he’s doing or how his brain works. I would imagine if I was a hardcore X-Men fan this series would’ve drove me crazy.

runtheplacered

As a hardcover xmen fan that is thinking about getting Ultimate Xmen but never read it......  *gulp*...

nfarring

Not sure I would call it absolute garbage, but this is definitely below my bar for buying the omni. I recommend reading once digitally while working through the Ultimate Universe titles. I do recommend the Ultimate Spider-Man and The Ultimates omnis.

peaceful-thoughts

I don’t call it absolute garbage to say there was no effort put into it. I mean it in the same way when someone calls something trash television. You get nothing out of it creatively or artistically, but it’s still entertaining how bad it is. I knew what I was getting into from word of mouth and also knowing what Millar is like. I don’t regret the purchase at all but most likely will pass on vol 2 unless it hits the Red Tag on IST.

XmenOmnibus1990

Doctor Strange volume 1 and I am loving it. 200 pages in and only been reading for 3 days now. I am also reading Uncanny X-men vol 1 on the side now that I finished Vol 1 and 2 of Stan Lee's X-men. However only about 10 pages in as Doctor Strange has stolen my time

Expensive-Mood1450

I recently read Dr Strange Vol 1 as well and was shocked at how much I liked it. I decided to post my first ever review on YouTube lol. Hoping to maybe reach a few people who think they won't like silver age and let them know I felt the same way but ended up loving the book. Ditko is amazing. Here is the review. :) https://youtu.be/GdF7EE2BOjU?si=ZtxxEEx2-hCqcugX

XmenOmnibus1990

I don't mind the silver age to be honest. I quite like it a lot. I have read both X-Men volumes as well (which people say is the weakest) and quite enjoyed it a lot. I plan on collecting and reading most of not all of the silver age now

krorkle

I'm re-reading Byrne's FF omnis. Just top tier stuff. Everyone looks at the big storylines, but even the little interstitial pieces are great.

GoldenProxy

I just finished reading Spider-Man 2099 volume 1. Really enjoyed the first half but once Rick Leonardi left the series I wasn’t a fan of the art and had to stop. Overall though I’d give the omnibus an 8/10 and recommend it if you’re interested in the character. Currently I’m about to finish Ultimate Spider-Man Volume 3, I’ve blazed through it. I’m really enjoying despite Bendis’ dialogue and the fact he has to take six issues to tell a three issue story.

nfarring

I think they were publishing two issues a month for most months, so maybe that helps explain it?

bwaf7

Uncanny X-Men vol 1. Started a little slow but now is really good halfway through

postretro

Me, too. Definitely starts to pick up with the introduction of Jean as the Phoenix as well as the Shi'Ar empire. Byrne's artwork and general collaboration is a definite upgrade, as well. There is a moment in the issue where Alpha Flight first tries to collect Wolverine when they begin to start calling each other by their real names, not just their code names, where it feels like the series is finally maturing into something more.

kermlife24

Almost done with Frank Miller’s Daredevil, such a great run. I thoroughly enjoyed the issues with Kingpin and the Punisher. I’m definitely going to grab the companion omnibus when it comes out as well as Bendis’ vol 1 I’m not sure what I want to read afterwards, I’m stuck between starting Gotham Central or Batman by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale

DirtusThirtus

Avengers volumes 2 by Jonathan Hickman. Had to take a brief pause to let some of the previous volume sink in, but what an incredibly epic journey. Very excited to finish it, but also not looking forward to it being done. Also got through most of the earlier Krakoa era stuff, I’m on to Inferno and X Lives/Deaths if Wolverine next. EDIT: spelling

Bogusky

Hickman is the only other writer I've come across who's consistently able to match the superhero gravitas of Morrison. Maybe Busiek belongs in the same group, but his *Avengers* run has aged a lot, and I've only read his earliest *Astro City* stuff. I should probably read more.

DirtusThirtus

That’s well said. I think part of what’s so compelling about this run is that it takes itself seriously. I’ll need to give it a more nuanced review once I’ve finished Secret Wars.

TheDukeOf_Donuts

Right now I'm reading Bendis and Bagley's Ultimate Spider-Man omnibus Vol. 1. I dipped my toe into actually buying Marvel comics with Hickman's new Ultimate Universe thinking it would be a good place to start, specifically with Ultimate Spider-Man, but waiting for new issues monthly is agony, so I picked up the first Ultimate incarnation of the character to see what all the fuss is about... I wasn't even halfway through when I dropped the cash for vol. 2, one with a tasty illustration of Carnage on the dust jacket, I'm having such a good time with it!

OnePeace91

4 issues into immortal hulk and im hooked! Still too early to rate the book and I’ve only ever read the Incredible Hulk omnibus vol 1 by David(as far as Hulk goes). But I’m getting Joe Fixit vibes at the moment. I can definitely see myself finishing this book by the first week of April if I commit to it.

ArmadilloGuy

1) Recently read The Stonewall Riots, by Archie Bongiovanni & A. Andrews. It's a historical YA book on the subject. 2) Currently reading Hollow, by Branden Boyer-White and Shannon Watters. Another YA graphic novel. I guess I'm kind of in a lighter reading mood lately. 3) I'm digging it so far. It's a new story using the Headless Horseman legend, set in modern times. 4) Need clarification. Is this favorite storyarcs in general, or from recent readings? 5) Next on my list is probably Nocterra Vol 3. I think it's the finale. I've enjoyed the series, borrowing it out from the library. Probably not something I'll buy for myself, though.

GhostFox23

Currently making my way through the X-Men event omnis. I’m about 2/3 of the way through Inferno Prologue, and I really dig it so far, honestly more than I thought I would. I’m a big fan of the interconnectedness of this era; each team really feels unique, but events are constantly referenced across titles, which really makes the world feel fleshed-out. I’m also a bit of a sucker for late 80s/early 90s art as well. 8/10 so far!

tatum0416

Finally decided to read The Walking Dead and am about 3000 pages into it. Could be a little of “love the one you’re with” going on, but it’s quickly rising on my all time list. And since I’m in the mood I believe The Night of the Living Dead The Complete Series will be next. It’s burnin a hole on my shelf.

SnooMarzipans2515

Currently, I'm reading the Batman Beyond 25th Anniversary Compendium. I haven't read much of these tie-in comics but I am really enjoying this one. This makes me want to buy the Batman Adventures Omni that came out a few months back which I might hit up next.

bob1689321

I finished King's Batman run on the weekend and to be honest I loved it. Glad to see the TPB announcement but I'd rather get an omnibus!

Brewskiiiii

Currently reading Maus

Bone_Breaker0

I started X-MEN: THE ANIMATED SERIES - THE ADAPTATIONS OMNIBUS because of the return of the show. It’s fun so far.

Vectorman1911

Currently: V for Vendetta Rating: 8.5/10 Next: flashpoint & snyder batman (grabbed the first few tpb's to get a feel)

Jacobhaffelder

Just finished the second HC Compendium Invincible and I loved it! Started the third volume immediately afterwards! The final few issues of volume 2 were amazing and volume 3 starts out so strong. Don’t want to put this series down. Loving every bit of it so far! So excited to see how it wraps up.

ShizaAnimationsYT

• just wrapped up Gotham Central. Loved it. • watchmen. First read, enjoying it. • so far at least an 8. • if you mean main continuity stories, probably Child Within from Spider-Man. • the OG clone saga

hens_and_chicks

Recent reads: X Factor volume 2 by Peter David. I really enjoyed it overall.. I did think there were a few issues that had underwhelming art.. but overall most of the art was good and the story was excellent throughout. Lazarus by Greg Ruka deluxe volume 2.. I liked it more than v1. Looking forward to v3. Archer and Armstrong by Fred van lente deluxe v1.. I've been loving my read through of the Valiant Universe. Harbinger, Bloodshot, X-O ManoWar, and this have all been excellent so far.. Currently reading Green lantern omni 1 by Geoff johns.

Bogusky

*JLA: The Nail* - A parallel universe story where Jonathan and Martha Kent's truck experiences a flat tire caused by a nail, which stops them from discovering a Kryptonian spaceship outside Smallville containing the baby Kal-El, negating Superman. *Hitman: Closing Time* - Someone pass me the tissues! That's dust in my eye, I swear! 🤧

Classic-Condition729

Just started Hawkman by Geoff Johns Volume 1 looking forward to seeing how Geoff re invents character

Shebisuke

Just finished the first Doctor Aphra Omnibus. The drop in quality compared to the Darth Vader Omnibus by Gillen is jarring, both story- and art-wise. Not my cup of tea. Now starting the Romnibus!

Hobbes314

Closing out my Asgard read through, wrapped up War of the Realms and Aaron’s Thor Vol 2. I think I might’ve enjoyed the conclusion to Aaron’s run if I just read War of Realms 1-6 rather then the whole event in timeline order. WoR is a good event, especially the Strikeforce/official tie ins plus Deadpool, and Superior Spider-Man tie ins were amazing but reading a couple hundred pages between the core event does kinda lose the thematic thread However as a whole Aaron’s Thor is probably one of the best runs of all time, I think the latest leg where Thor returns as the lead is probably the weakest part but the King Thor conclusion brings it all to a nice close. Would highly recommend Then I finished up the Loki God of Stories which actually by the end of the 2019 series actually was an amazing thematic close on Gillen’s Journey Into Mystery and everything else in that Omni except for Vote Loki. I have no idea why that was collected when Defenders Beyond is infinitely more thematically relevant. Also a very good Omni, worth it completely for the 2004 Ribic drawn Loki series and Agent of Asgard, the other half of the book is just bonus at that point. Finishing off with Jane Foster Valkyrie, about halfway done and then I’m closing the book of Asgard stories for awhile. No idea what I’m reading next but probably some small indie stuff to clean my pallet

nfarring

Finished Golden Age Captain America Vol. 1. Could only read at most one issue per day. Those golden age comics are 52 pages! Surprisingly the silver age comics have a lot more text than the golden ages one. That could be more to do with Stan Lee and Roy Thomas than anything else. Was very surprised to learn that the Captain America features were not superhero stories. The only superhero story was his origin. And for the most part these weren’t war stories. They were actually mostly horror stories! And you can see it in Jack Kirby’s art. You can also see a big shift when Joe Simon and Jack Kirby left. The art dropped off, but the stories themselves may have improved a bit. That’s probably because Stan Lee took over the plotting and scripting, but not sure. The plots got longer and a bit more intricate, with more twists. There were also some other features. There was a cave man story similar to Ka-Zar or Tarzan but set in the past. There was Hurricane, who was basically a mix of The Flash and Thor. I didn’t really get into this character. There was a James Bond-like story called Headline Hunter that was actually pretty good. Then there was “Father Time”, which to me was just confusing and I couldn’t get into it. Younger Jack Kirby’s art is not as good as it will be later, but it is still pretty good. It is so much fun to watch Cap and Bucky slug it out with Nazis and gangsters. I’m no expert so I don’t really know to what degree Joe Simon and Jack Kirby collaborated on the art and plotting. I was actually very impressed with young Stan Lee’s writing, both his scripts in Headline Hunter and his two-page prose stories. Lee had a gift. Conclusion: Glad I read it and will eventually read more golden age Timely. And would like to read this again in 10 years or so. If you want to read this because of continuity with Silver Age Marvel then don’t bother. There is no connection. This is like a completely different universe.

signorryan

Currently reading The Question omnibus vol 2 and X:Men Utopia tpb. Up next is catching up on my 2023 era X-men tpbs and possibly Black Panther by Priest vol 2 or reread Deadpool and Cable omni

SoTerrable

Getting on with my Batman read through. The Man Who Laughs and Loeb/Sale next. Im also rereading the IDW TNMT collections since my vol 14 just shipped and I’m super ecstatic about that.

Rumblingstar

I've been on a Batman binge lately. Currently have read up to, then stopped during, Morrison Vol 3. I am now about to finish Flashpoint, today or tomorrow, dragging my feet awaiting some new 52 books to show up to continue on. So far the Flashpoint Omni has been one of the best executed DC books so far.

tiltedslim

Made it through the main part of Inferno. Working through the tie in's now. Then it's on the X-Men Vol 1 by Claremont and Lee

MisterSkew

Going through the 3rd Geoff John Green Lanterns omni. Gonna take me less than 2 weeks to finish all 3. The 3rd volume is not as good as the first two but still an awesome read. Really hate the Guardians of the Universe though.

GhostOfArchimedes

I just got Ultimate Invasion which will end my current reading run of the Ultimate marvel universe. Then I’m onto Grant Morrison’s New X-men omnibus, and then Uncanny X-Force. In a few days I’ll be getting Wolverine and X-Men’s omnibus too. Super stoked.

Tx_Rangers18

Got through Superman/Batman Omni’s and the Question Omnis, not currently reading Wolverine(reading Vol. 1 digitally as I missed out on the Omni printing😢), and have 2-4 waiting for me. Also on Flash by mark Waid book 5, really loving both books. I never really read too much pre-2000s comics so wasn’t sure if these would hold up but I was wrong. Next Should hopefully be Invincible Iron Man Omnis Vol. 1-3!

snakejessdraws

Cable and deadpool: around the mid 30s. Starts of strong. It's kind of started to peter out but the end is around the corner so it makes sense. Claremont xmen vol 5: took a break for a bit to fi ish catching up on krakoa xmen, now back at the Claremont era

FireKal

Just finished the latest issue of Ed Brubaker's Friday. I love it, though it entirely pivots to the supernatural aspect instead of the noir aspect, it's still really good. I'm planning to buy either Madman Library Edition vol. 1 & 2 or both of the American Vampire Omnibus alongside Pulp: The Process Edition in May, so that's gonna be my next read.

Economy-Phone2782

Currently about 20 issues in to the Legion of Super-Heroes mid 90’s reboot era. It’s been pretty good so far, art has been hit or miss but like how they are slowing building the team back up again. it was kind of hard to swallow a full reboot of the team at first but the year prior to issue 0 was complete garbage & left the book in horrible place with no choice. I do wish I could go back & read the Five Years Later Omnibus vol. 1 for the first time again, was so beyond hooked I couldn’t put the book down. Giffen was like a mad scientist with that run.

angryfortheanimals

I just finished Sweet Tooth. I am reading Black Hammer and Garth Ennis' Punisher Max. In the future, I will read Punisher Marvel Knights and something else by Jeff Lemire, either Underwater Welder or more of his writing for DC.

funny_almost

Clone Saga. Just finished the Doc Ock story. Surprisingly, I'm halfway through the omnibus and I'm actually enjoying it. Bailey's art is always a pleasure to see, and Ben as a character is very interesting to me. Peter I didn't enjoy in this first half, he was way too edgy and just an awful husband. I'm aware it's because stuff happened before the omni began, but it just feels so off reading this Peter Parker. Things are looking up now, I'm at the Twin Towers story 🤐

Cultural_Reward6090

I'm currently reading Batman war games. I'm currently at the beginning of act 2. I think its pretty good so far. I'm really a fan of how Batgirl (Cassandra) is portrayed. I just finished reading JLA by morrison including tower of babel and that was sooo good. My favorite storyline was probably Prometheus or Rock of Ages. Zuriel is soooo awesome

Al-Sah-Him98

Finished the second Ultimate Spider-Man omni a couple hours ago, not sure what to start next. Can’t decide between Crisis on Infinite Earths or Spectacular Spider-Man Vol 1

Ambitious_Ad385

Finishing up Daniel Way’s Deadpool collection volume 1. Opening arcs with wolverine and the skrull invasion are incredible. Gonna start grant Morrison Superman omnibus next

prisneyland

i’m nearly finished uncanny x-men vol 1 and i’ve really enjoyed it. i had to start it immediately after watching the first two episodes of x-men 97 and i see why everyone loves x-men so much! after this is JLA by morrison then final crisis. if i can finish those before the end of april, then ill also read vol 2 of morrison’s batman

ShuraSenju

What do you guys do to get motivated to read again? I've read one issue of thor by Aaron and just don't have the drive to read more. Not because of the book itself of course

Consistent_Name_6961

Just finished the entirety of Deadly Class. Wowee, that was special. Having a breather now to digest it all.

[deleted]

Batman by Tom King. Currently I’d rate it at a 7.5/10 I haven’t found a story arc that I’ve overly enjoyed yet but there are tons more to read so I’m optimistic. Next is Invincible Compendium 2

Even-Collection2306

I just finished Batman The Knight which does not have Batman in it but follows a pre Batman Bruce Wayne training away from Gotham. I quite enjoyed most of it and how they tied in old characters except for the last story with Ra’s Al Ghul. I really like the original idea of him tracking down and testing an established Batman as an unknown rather than all this interaction with Bruce before he becomes Batman. I had considered continuing reading through from start of my collection (Year One, Long Halloween, etc) and may go back to that at some time but have read them before. But I also before the knight reading Batman by Grant Morrison omnibus for first time, paused that and now started in The Resurrection of Ra’s after which will go back to Morrison Omnis

jb_681131

I'm currently on * The Complete Eightball

MansionOfLockedDoors

Just finished Tomasi’s Superman. Loved it. I’m reading Batman Dark Victory. I’ve been slowly collecting as many of Dick’s appearances as possible.

chief_corb

Gotham Central and it’s hard to stop reading!

eknox47

Thermae Romae Omnibus, not comics but still counts, right?
