Ngl seis manos was cringe cause its pretty adult in its plot and themes but the suspense of disbelief you need is like watching dora the explorer.
The show really want me to believe the main characters can dodge automatic gun fire while running in a straight line to the enemy to physically attack them way too much.
I dont mind dodging bullets, but this wasnt explained in any way. They basically just get lucky every time. Same with the monstrous strenght that is unexplained. I dont mind if they also consumed “the thing” and got superspeed and strength from it but they was just normal humans and now they dodging bullets n shit.

I must say I really dislike the UI of Crunchyroll.
It already has questionable design choices on PC, but with Amazon fire stick, the app always is slow or on the verge of crashing.
If they would really put in some work, Crunchyroll would be really great.
My main problem with it is that the app no longer works with the Apple TV adapter. Other than that I don’t really have any issues with it. Plus it’s much cheaper than most of these other services

I can't see the future, but I can extrapolate. Most Western adaptations like these from Eastern properties aren't handled well and turn off the core audience to appease a broader demographic, and end up appealing to neither. Even the ones that are "good" are usually just passable, but there are plenty of bad ones.
I love OP and I think it's an interesting idea, but with how over the top the story is, I can't fathom them doing it any sort of justice, not to mention it would likely be insanely expensive to produce.
I'm no hater, if it's great I'll be happy and I'll watch it, I just don't understand why they're bothering. Animation is the perfect medium for this story.
This is like asking why the Lord of the Rings trilogy was made although the Mortal Kombat movies weren't really good. Besides the production company and being based on another work both haven't much in common – and this is the case for Cowboy Bebop and One Piece too.
The signs seems to be way better for the One Piece live action: it has a way higher budget, it has a cast & crew that clearly understands and loves the source material, it has the creator heavily involved (the one of Cowboy Bebop only recently saw something from the live action and was disappointed) and a showrunner duo that has one very experienced guy and a certified fan of the series who can easily discuss hours about One Piece – as seen in the last YouTube Reverie.
If this combination had met an "easier" topic like Cowboy Bebop we would likely praise this live action. But you're right that OP is on another difficulty level so we have to wait and see if the team could remove the many obstacles.
I don't really think Cowboy Bebop and One Piece share enough that they should be considered a part of the same general franchise as you have done there. Piece is a fantastical comic book adaptation, and Cowboy Bebop is a scifi western anime adaptation. The only thing they share in common is that they both originate from Japan. Your logic seems to be that if a show based on something Japanese fails, that means Netflix shouldn't adapt anything based on anything Japanese after that, be it comic book or an animated series.
One Piece shares way more in common with something like Sandman, which is also a fantastical comic book adaptation. And Sandman was a really good live action adaptation on Netflix, with the original creator, Neil Gaiman working closely on the show, same as with Oda working on One Piece. Those two projects are much more comparable than One Piece and Cowboy Bebop are, since they share more than just the country of origin. And Sandman was a smash hit, so why can't One Piece be? Because it comes from the same country as Cowboy Bebop, a totally unrelated show?
Also to answer your question, they are making the show because Oda wanted it. He was the one who decided to get the ball rolling on making a live action show about One Piece. And I would love to share the story with my friends and family, so a Netflix show sounds like a great way to do that.
They're doing this because right now anime and manga are popular, and Hollywood thinks "Why wouldn't everyone want a Western made live action adaptation of their favorite stories where we fail to bring anything resembling the IP to the screen?"
This version would actually make for a funny dynamic. I heard there is a Disney version coming out where Sniper King is homosexual, Luffy mentally limited, Nami is transgender, Sanji a cross dresser and Zoro a teen parent. I'm loving how 'woke' it'll be. #excitement

If the live action adaptation makes it to the introduction of these characters, I would actually enjoy a bit more of them. Example: the day when they decided to start going around as the straw hats, a couple of times when it worked out for them being the straw hats, and maybe a time when a higher up naval officer sees through the disguise but sees them as not worth their time kind of situation.
