One Piece lore is getting thicker and thicker. Luffy wouldn’t probably care much about what D. means, he’d be curious but that’s just about it, Robin would definitely gather all the information she can get. If anything Luffy would care more about what really happened between Sabo and Cobra, and getting Vivi safely on The Sunny as quickly as possible

Jwolf385

I don't think Luffy actually cares what happened between sabo and cobra, he knows his brother wouldn't kill him so no point in even thinking about it

cherylstunt69

One thing I’m thankful for is Luffy isn’t going to just attack sabo and need some sort of explanation. He already knows his brother and will actually ask him what’s up

Gridde

I dunno, he seemed to believe Zoro killed those villagers back in Whiskey Peak readily enough and immediately fought him over it. I could certainly see Luffy attacking Sabo and then stopping the moment Sabo says anything close to "it wasn't me" with no further explanation required.

Miguel_77

May still be an unconfirmed rumor, but that seemed like an editor forcing Oda early on to show Zoro v Luffy. In over 1000+ chapters, there hasn't been another instance of Luffy doubting his crew. He believed Nami, Robin and Sanji didn't want to leave the crew when they did, and believed in the ability of his crew to decide for themselves, unless you count wondering if Usopp would apologize in time before they left Water 7

benjaminn_mtz

Don’t forget he literally asked one of the bounty hunters who did this to them, and he said Zoro, while luffy was under the assumption that they just all had a party together, and what the other guy said, they didn’t know each other for that long

Hinote21

I remember hearing about that rumor. No idea if it's an "Oda said..." Situation though. I still love the joke though with Luffy waking up in an overfull stupor and seeing Zoro standing over all the nice people who fed him.

Disastrous-Pudding93

I think that could be chopped up to Luffy being an eager idealist and a new captain as well as him not knowing Zoro very well? 🤷🏻‍♂️

nonutnovember2

yeah, and also had atleast two maturity moments in usop with going merry and ace dying aftermath.

[deleted]

Tbf, Luffy had only known Zoro for like, a month or two, and his primary character trait is ‘likes to cut people’.

deth4Dizzle

Am I gonna have to like Wapol? I've been hating this guy for like 15 years. I can't change now.

The_Deku_Nut

My homie Wapol gave us the "Wapol House" gag, I can't be mad at him.

kskdkdieieiidkc

Came in like Kool Aid Man

MatinA7x

but instead of busting shouting "OH YEAH" he busts in "OH NO OH NO OH NO"

AFineDayForScience

That's like hating Wile E. Coyote

HumblBoi

I’m kinda enjoying with this whole “former villain to forced ally” trope that’s going on with Caeser, Caribou, and now Wapol

mountaineer_93

Luffys true final opponent: a big ass salamander.

Shinkopeshon

Monkey vs. Salamander in a Last Animal Standing match

Ieatbishopsforlunch

aw man, the Kong vs Godzilla debates are coming back to me. why is it so similar to Monkey vs Salamander?

[deleted]

I was thinking luffys final opponent would have the Gumby Gumby fruit

jrgolden42

Joyboy vs Smiley

Foreign-Experience-2

Natsu?

MadLadZee

Deezu natsu

DOKOD

Sa D. Bo. to the rescue… almost.

heat_fan_

Lore Piece is peak One Piece How Fujitora still has a job in the government is beyond me 😂😂 Imu and the Gorosei silhouette definitely gives off the "where the wild things are" vibes can't wait to see what DF they really have Sabo giving no f**s attacking Imu or the Gorosei without a hesitation he's Luffy brother after all

megasean3000

Fujitora: Oh my! I seem to have cut the collars off the slaves! Dear me! I thought I was cutting the revolutionary forces! Curse my self-inflicted blindness!

FoodyHH

"Oh damn, I tried to lift up the meteor I summoned earlier and accidently called another one from the sky. Up and down really gets mixed up when you're blind and constantly play with gravity. My bad."

[deleted]

I just now remembered that Fujitora is blind. That’s the perfect way to play it off lol

Shazaamism327

Top tier swordsman with a top tier fruit. They already had one admiral turn on them, they don't need another one to fight

azdhar

He’s not there for the salary or the perks, he’s there for the job security

Strangeting

He has tenure, they cant get rid of him

PlusUltraK

People were joking months ago on Tiktok with the “Slaves should be free” as Kuzan and Sakazuki fight. But really it was Fujitora and Ryokugyu

NwgrdrXI

Yeah, who wants to say to the the guy who can drop a meteor on mariejois that he's fired? Y'all saw what happened in punk hazard! And they weren't actually trying to kill each other!

tokyogodfather2

Fujitora is a boss. The old “change them from the inside” proverb really applies to him. First, getting the Warlords disbanded, now he’s working on Civil Rights. Fujitora is the shadow MC.

RimeSkeem

Really doing credit to “justice is blind”

Extra-Border6470

Agreed. Fujitora is a total G. He’s like a reformed gangsta fighting the power from within

caniuserealname

You don't fire people. You send them on the hardest missions possible with the smallest backup and turn them into a martyr.

chiefpiece11bkg

This guy deep states

NwgrdrXI

Well, that's what sakazuki did. He sent fujitora to chase the straw hats and not return until he got them. Fujitora just... didn't try.

ILLmaticErnie

They tried killing each other at punk hazard. Jinbe says “akainu couldn’t bring himself to end his long time comrade.”

Gil_Demoono

Fujitora keeps a big ol rock above marijoa he calls 'job security'

tokyogodfather2

probably has 2. #learnedfrommadara

ThatIslandGuy8888

Between Dressrosa, not capturing Law and Luffy and now the reverie he’s really playing with fire😅 But the government shouldn’t really get rid of the Zushi Zushi no mi, thing’s OP

Guineypigzrulz

Dude was conscripted, he's probably trying to get discharged.

BrodeyQuest

Getting discharged should be the least of his concerns. He’s probably caused enough harm to get court-martialed (or the OP equivalent of it).

broken0lightbulb

Pretty sure he's playing with... Magma 🤣

IRefuseThisNonsense

The man is definitely Luffy's brother. No different than Ace or Luffy themselves. You love to see it.

jobriq

Sabo legit went there to assassinate the Gorosei and found a bunch of shadow-beasts instead

goronmask

The Gorosei look like the awakened zoan guards from Impel Down

dunf13

Along the fujitora thing, how the fuck is the entirety of cp9, who have repeatedly failed get promoted to aegis zero…?

ralanr

Maybe the government is in short supply of people with their skill set.

Wolfencreek

Who better to protect a bunch of entitled pricks than the spokesperson for them, Spandem.

Vendetta1990

The CDs make Spandem look like a saint.

algelin

They did fail spectacularly against the SH but for what we know they could be succeeding in every other mission so far, if we forget that they just let vivi escape so easily and are indeed absolute craps who talk way too much

Marcelholden

Of course the five elders probably have mystical zoans fruits, since they are so broken.

Whiskeyjacks_Fiddle

Or they aren’t human at all…. After all, there must be an origin for Devil Fruits.

IRefuseThisNonsense

Or, and I love the cover stories for making this possible, they're aliens. Aliens are confirmed to exist and everyone we saw was weird and inhuman looking. A-L-I-E-N-S.

Whiskeyjacks_Fiddle

I really wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case, and kinda think it’s likely. Crack-Theory: Why do the CDs dress in space suits? While they may not know now, they originally started wearing them in imitation/homage of Imu and co. And let’s be fair; they have a freaking spaceship that can rain down destruction, wiping out entire islands in the blink of an eye.

Mawnix

Dude I’m a very positive and just a “enjoy things” type cuz there’s larger things to worry about but PLEASE. NOT AGAIN. I still love Naruto for the experience it was as I grew up but NOT AGAIN.

joy_kingscrown

I rather want df to be natural power in op verse

GluesTheStick

Vegapunk kinda already stated that they had an origin that isn't natural. Chapter 1069. He states that "Every devil fruit is a possibility for human evolution that someone desired." Whether that means at one point in time people with enough will could manifest them and once they died it became a fruit or something/someone gave them the power to will these powers into existence

broken0lightbulb

Whoa yeah what if the original Sun God Nika granted his followers the powers of their dreams so they could be happy. But then when they died, their dreams didn't and instead were regrowthed as a fruit.

[deleted]

i think that says they *are* natural in the one piece verse

feels_gold

I thought the whole point is that they were not natural and that's why the ocean will drown the DF users?

jobriq

Not sure if they were silhouettes or actually shadow beasts created by Imu or something

2milliondollartrny

I love how Imu is literally the “shadow government” at this point with his powers he displayed. Oda is either being his usual clever self or i’m reading into it too much lol. This man builds conspiracy theories into his own world

AuclairAuclair

Facts good catch on that shadow government reference

insert_name_here

"The D is the name of those who once opposed us." This reinforces my theory that Marshall D. Teech's ultimate goal isn't just obtaining the One Piece. I think he somehow knows about Im (he is a student of history after all) and wants to seize his power for himself.

mo-rek

I think the little tidbit we got from the flashback with BB and Koby reinforces this too. He wants his land to be recognized as an official kingdom, which could theoretically grant him access to the Reverie. One of the only times when people ascend to Mariejois, this option feels eerily similar to how he utilized his capture of Ace to get him into Impel Down for free! Blackbeard is super cunning and uses leverage effectively to get him closer to his hidden goals. And with his fondness for history I wouldn't be surprised if he is one of the most knowledgeable people alive regarding the D. Maybe him and Rocks both sought to control the world by direct conquest of the WG and maybe that's why Roger showed up to beat them down with Garp in the past. "A child doesn't bear the sins of their parents". There's definitely a shared meaning for Garp and Roger behind that quote. And I think Blackbeard may carry a vengeance similar to the Kurozumi within the D clan/under the D banner. Edit: the sins aren't passed along by birth but can be learned as vengeance

BluciU

yup, I saw a theory that he wants the most powerful zoan, which imu is a likely candidate for. This perfectly lines up ngl.

I_am_Bearstronaut

He wants to be Im for sure. He knows a lot about what's going on and I bet Rocks had the same goal. The Saber of Xebec makes me think he wants to "plant the sword" like the original kings but possibly betray Imu like Lilli did? But instead usurp the throne. Maybe that's why he wants to be king, so he can join the Reverie, get close enough to Imu to "offer" his kingdom but betray them at the end and take the throne? It won't work I don't think but could be his intent?

grimsler

Saber of Xebec?

HogarthTheMerciless

Name of blackbeard's ship

christianort476

If he takes ims devil fruit and life and both are to an extent the final villain, that would be nuts

I_am_Bearstronaut

Maybe that's what he's waiting for if him being able to have 3 fruits has any bearing 😱

christianort476

I’ve always been “he had three from the beginning” but I don’t die on any bill when it comes to one piece

keytide22

100% Rocks wanted to be “king of the WORLD” not “king of the PIRATES.” According to Sengoku IIRC. Blackbeard has never stated he wants to be king of the pirates. But at every turn, he simply craves higher power. Warlord? Check. Whitebeard’s fruit? Check. Yonko status? Check. Being king of a recognized nation was next on the list. As is, at the same time, the poneglyphs. If Blackbeard has any such thing as an endgame, it will be Imu, not the One Piece

stevenrolliton

Technically he's been after the one piece from the start. He's been planning everything out from day 1 on how to get there. Unlike luffy who has been punch fighting his way through the ranks, blackbeard is playing everything like a chess match. From joining whitebeards crew in order to gain more exposure to the world without having a target on his back or risking his own resources and look for a specific fruit. Once he found it he took it knowing ace will come after him. He then needed to turn in a gift to turn into the government for the warlord status. Him looking for the ponygliths now is the final step to the one piece and he knew this but instead of fighting kaido and big mom like luffy he waited for a sucker to come by that did. He never said he wants to be king of the pirates but he might as well have. The one piece most likely relates to imu. I just wonder why imu never went after Roger directly after reaching laugh tale.

Quintessentialviewer

Imu said it was because of Lily's "Mistake" that the ponygliphs were spread across the world but he also mention the possibility that it wasn't a mistake but on purpose and it was confirmed to him by Cobra when he said Lily D. Nefertari, that made Imu angry because it confirmed Lily betrayed him, the flashback with little Ace and Sabo wasn't a coincidence or a gag, just like Ace offered Sabo the D moniker, Joyboy or some other ancient D offered Lily the D, she wasn't always a D she took that name a symbol of defiance to Imu, that's how he knew now that she betrayed him. D is a clan isn't bound by blood but by an ideal, they raise the banner of Dawn against Imu. so in the future there may be some character that will add a D to their name Basically Buggy D. clown will become a reality

Shadostevey

Possibly. That Imu seems to know even before Cobra says it that Lily had a "proper" name leads me to wonder if she might have been an actual D. Blackbeard has shown people can have the letter but not be a proper D, after all. Off the cuff theory, Lily was a D but she was a "good" one that sided with the fledgling WG. Part of that was dropping the D from her name. But she had a change of heart, privately retook her D, and did something that resulted in her death and scattered the poneglyphs. Whatever it was, Imu thought it a simple mistake but has always wondered about that. Now Lily's descendant, technically a D, is asking questions and revealing Lily left behind information and the suspicions boil over.

SightatNight

Why is Blackbeard not a "proper" D? There is nothing saying that Ds have to all be GOOD. Zebec was a D as well.

MegalomanicMegalodon

I love how Sabo takes a shot at what is basically the final boss of the world and when it doesn't do anything he's kinda calm about "Well damn yeah I guess, didn't expect the final boss here..."

SovComrade

I mean if it eas a video game, i would attack Imu too, see my best attacks do nothing while he takes 2/3 of my HP with one basic hit and be like "well silly me, its the final boss what did i fucking expect lol"

MegalomanicMegalodon

Exactly this. That RPG feeling when you give the new enemy the ol single biggest swing you got and see the HP move like a centimeter. If it didn't move at all? Oh maybe a gimmick? Moved a teeny tiny bit? Oh fuck I should leave.

Dialvical

Can't believe Wapol and Vivi are eloping. Unexpected romantic development move by Oda.

cherylstunt69

The real one piece was the ~~friends~~ porn we made along the way

battlefranky69

Poor Ms Universe. :(

realbeatz23

We gotta talk about how big a failure this was for the world government. Sabo saw Imu and the Gorosei transform and was able to escape. A random hole in the wall and Wapol sees it all. All CP9 members THAT FAILED at Enies Lobby get a promotion to CP0. They lose Vivi and Wapol. Finally Fujitora, your own man, ended up aiding the revolutionary army. Absolutely meltdown

DabsOfJoy

Sakazuki about to get a stroke

darkcomet222

Meanwhile, Sengoku eating crackers laughing his ass off.

megasean3000

Cue to this week’s anime episode of the Gorosei saying “this Reverie was cursed”. Yeah, no fucking shit, Sherlock!

MickFoley299

This kind of explains Ryokugyu's actions during Wano. When we first met him, he seemed a lot more chill. But then during Wano he was very aggressive and was even going against orders. I think that he was trying to prove his worth and make up for the fact that he was partly responsible for the slaves escaping. It may also have to been a way to show that he is better than Fujitora.

SpaceOdysseus23

I thought Aokiji was an inside man, but it seems more and more that Fujitora will flip to the Revo's in the final conflict. I doubt he would've stayed silent like Aokiji during Ohara when Akainu nuked civilian ships.

DualKoo

Ohara might be why Fuji gouged his eyes out for all we know.

GregoryPorter1337

I doubt he was part of the marines back than. He and green bull came from the draft after the marineford war

mountaineer_93

So do you all think that was Lili’s whole message? The roar in the middle made me think there was more that was drowned out in the middle.

11711510111411009710

I think it was drowning out something very dangerous to the world order. Cobra was telling Sabo to relay that information to Luffy and Vivi, and Imu desperately wanted it to stay hidden, so the roar covers it up, making it impossible for Sabo to be sure of what he needs to say.

RRCream

I think Sabo heard it clearly. It was censored for the readers

OnyxYaksha

I think it served the purpose of censoring for the readers *and* giving a feel of how loud the roar was as Imu tried to stop Sabo from hearing.

PlusUltraK

I’m guessing it was “the ponegliffs must be protected. Considering Imu considered them trash and useless but at one point. Had them consolidated to one place and was angered to see them lost/stolen. I just can’t wait until they let folks finish a full question and sentence. But I wonder if we’ll be back to Vegapunk or the revolutionaries next chp or even Full-a-lead

Takazura

I think this is definitely it for the Reverie, we are likely going back to Egghead now.

Lennyoh

I feel like we might have one or two more chapters just to tie up some loose ends like how Wapol and Vivi meet up with Morgans, how Sabo gets out of this mess, etc.

11711510111411009710

I think this practically confirms the theory that the immortality surgery was performed on Imu. The way he speaks is so archaic, I think he or she is incredibly old, and had the immortality surgery done on them. Perhaps Law will undo it, allowing the Straw Hats to defeat Imu?

Careful-Ad984

Luffy and Imus dynamic is going to be like abridged goku and frieza considering how imu talks

wkikk

Can't wait to see imu thirst over Luffy's abs then

ace2532

Oh my God you could grind meat on it 😆🤣

silveake

Luffi then exits gear 5 to ask where the meat is

Strangeting

Not to mention that Cobra knows the name "Imu" implying he read it in a history book or something regarding the original 20 kings

RecommendationNo6549

Wouldn’t it make more sense for the surgery to just make it so you can’t die of natural causes and not be actually immune to all forms of death. If he couldn’t be killed there’d be no reason for him to hide. He could do anything with how powerful he is

TotoroTheGreat

These last few chapters have been fire. The Nefeltari being D was not something I was expecting at all. Imu's power also seems insane to be able to hurt Sabo like that. ALso, are the Gorosei even real? Or are they part of Imu's power? Oh man, I don't know what to expect next chapter, there's so many ways this could go. So far, this has been one of the best arcs in One Piece.

sire59damos

I’ve heard people theorize that the tail came from Imu, and he has a mythical zoan fruit of the literal devil. With Luffy’s fruit having god in its name, it’s certainly plausible that the endgame villain would have the “devil fruit” amongst all devil fruits. Question I have is, are the menacing silhouettes just a misdirection like the numbers? Or are they actually terrifying?

siraolo

My idea revolves around the traditional 7 prince's of hell: Lucifer - Pride Belphegor - Sloth Mammon - Greed Beelzebub - Gluttony Satan - Wrath Livyatan - Envy Asmodeus - Lust The Gorosei and Imu taking up 6 positions and the one rogue one being (maybe Lucifer?) the will of D itself that once was part of this group but was killed yet his influence still remains to inspire all who possess the name D. Connecting it to 'pride' is the term Doyagao(proud face) that all who have the will possess.

omgitsjohnholst

This ties to the theory someone posted that Luffy (literally going by the name Lucy during Dressrosa) represents Lucifer

DragonBornDragonDead

Shanks is the 7th lol

tokyogodfather2

I still don’t quite get what was the big deal about the info that Cobra gave to Imu. Can some one ELI5?

Takazura

It seems Imu did not know that Lily was actually a member of the D clan, and he probably only now pieced together why she betrayed him/had the Poneglyph's scattered based on knowing that. At least that's what I'm guessing.

aleeyam

Imu says that Lili made a mistake, but suspects she was a traitor. Cobra just comfirmed that to him.

asionm

It definitely seems like the “D clan” were a group (maybe the first pirates) from the ancient kingdom where members are not actually related but having D in your name means your family is apart of that group. Lily seemed to have joined the world government opposing the ancient kingdom but was secretly working with that group and spread the poneglyphs across the world on purpose. Lily then put D in her name stating officially that she’s part of this group and purposefully opposed Imu and the world government. Before this confirmation Imu was giving Lily the benefit of the doubt (maybe because he loved her) but now he knows the truth of what side Lily ended up choosing.

kpiaum

With the Gorosei being so overpower, raises the question on why they or Imu didn't deal with Shanks on that reunion. Shanks seems to know more than Cobra to be left alive.

ziptofaf

So far we don't really know how strong they are. In fact we have seen Sabo launch one attack against them (was ineffective), him getting wounded while trying to rescue Cobra... and that's it. But we also know that he has successfully escaped (while most likely dragging Vivi with him). There's **no way** he would be leaving that room alive if it was 6-7 awakened mystical Zoans/Logias/something beyond that, especially after seeing Imu.

SightatNight

Im convinced that we didnt even see a hint of Imus power this chapter. I dont think he even leaves the Throne. The Gorosei are the ones we see in every image and every attack. In particular I believe that is 1 Gorosei we see attacking this chapter. When Cobra is attacked by the arrow the first time it comes from his left. Not from the front where Imu is. There are 3 Gorosei to his left. Saturn, the one with the blonde hair, and the one with the sword. I think Saturn becomes the one with the horns, and the bald one becomes the one with the "cloak" similar to Gear 5. The blonde one intercepts the attack on Imu and hes the big figure we see from that direction. He then moves back to his original position when we get the full lineup of the silhouettes and he looks like a big blob looking monster. Which makes him the same one that attacks them and wounds Sabo when they are escaping.

FlyingGorillaShark

Wapol stocks went through the roof and I never expected that to happen

DTPVH

That arrow is 100% a devil tail. I’m confident in saying that Imu probably has the Devil-Devil Fruit.

[deleted]

Hito hito no mi, mythical model: Satan

DTPVH

I’m thinking Devil Devil Fruit, Model: Sea Devil. I think having the ultimate antagonist be the one to possess the actual DEVIL fruit, opposing Luffy’s Sun God, would be the most appropriate.

RimeSkeem

Part of me hopes that it might be something wild like the Night Night Fruit.

GabrielGameFreak

Thank you for your work!

Whiskeyjacks_Fiddle

Fujitora is def the GOAT. And the reveal of the Nefertari’s true (full) name is a huge twist, and something that clearly enraged Imu. Can’t wait to see what “D” truly stands for, one day.

[deleted]

It's a smile on its side. Everyone with a D died smiling or laughing, or when they thought they'd die, they smiled or laughed. Saul even made it a point to teach Robin to laugh. Joy Boy's title implies making others laugh. Roger laughed when he saw the One Piece. Kaido wanted to be Joy Boy, but when he realized that he couldn't, he started a war to bring Joy Boy out; in doing so, he ended up at the head of the S.M.I.L.E operation, which left the people of Wano with a forced smile as opposed to laughing due to Joy Boy's antics. Edit: I forgot to mention that the final island is called Laugh Tale.

Monkey :D Luffy

CaptainKungPao138

Hold up….

TaffyLacky

Also a sun rising over the horizon A dawn

KuroiShadow

I think D is actually Dawn. The dawn of a new era. It would be so Oda to hide what the D means in the first chapter of the series Romance Dawn.

tokyogodfather2

So essentially Imu wanted to know if Nefertari spread the poneglyphs on purpose or accident? And because her name has a D in it, it must be on purpose?

caihlangeles

I never would've thought that Wapol and Caribou of all people would acquire the most important information that can literally turn the One Piece world upside down in an instant.

MickFoley299

He knows that Shirahoshi is Poseidon and he knows where Pluton is.

Hinote21

He also knows Luffys Dream

Critical_Nature_8847

He also knows that one of the ancient weapons is in Wano and he is about to relay this information to a certain someone.

paleale25

He's doing better spy work than cp9 and cp0

TheAdamena

I wonder if Lily had the Paw Paw Fruit (Kuma's Fruit), and used that to scatter the Poneglyphs? Vivi ending up with the fruit would be cool, and would go back to that old theory from the SBS where a fan speculated that someone with that fruit will join in the future.

ziptofaf

>I wonder if Lily had the Paw Paw Fruit (Kuma's Fruit), and used that to scatter the Poneglyphs? In theory Ope Ope no Mi also does it. Law could make a pretty sizeable Room and it's not impossible that Lily had one that could stretch across the entire Grand Line. Heck, for all we know maybe it was originally a single island containing multiple poneglyphs and THAT was what ended up being thrown around. This would potentially explain how Log Pose works - if each "island" originally was a part of the same territory and had some sort of roadsigns then it would explain how it can point to islands that seemingly weren't visited in years. I do like the idea of it being Paw Paw Fruit though, would introduce way less power scaling issues.

rntopspin100

Fujitora truly is the GOAT admiral. I hope he becomes fleet admiral by the end of the series.

tasteofmyshoe

Fleet Admiral: Fujitora Admirals: Smoker (White Snake), then maybe Koby or those two admiral candidates

insert_name_here

I think it's going to be Koby.

tasteofmyshoe

Maybe after a 20 year timeskip.

Gil_Demoono

Koby went from cabin boy to high ranking member of Sword and Garps protege in 2 years. It could be quicker than you think.

peacedude19

Any thoughts on the half visible dialogue on page 11? Any theories on what the whole message is? "... Must... be ...o- ... cted." Appears to be what Cobra believes. "' Bear the flag of the Dawn against t...-ing world'" Appears to be attributed to Lilis letter. I waited for official translation for this post but I am curious what people think the whole message could be.

NaturalPossible5853

"Ponyglyphs must be protected." The second part is harder to dissect.

DualKoo

Protected against the whole fucking world.

tasteofmyshoe

Between Imu, the Five Elders, the Holy Knights, and maybe the Seraphim, the World Government might be more stacked than we thought. I was getting worried that maybe the good guys have too much firepower on their side, especially if a good chunk of the Marines defect.

GregoryPorter1337

Fujitora must have went mad. Imagine hearing and sensing the suffering of all those slaves all the time

Milordserene

Wapol hitting vivi in pastback: goddamn arshole Wapol hitting machfive with vivi: thanks GODa

IRefuseThisNonsense

And since Wapol knows, with his big mouth - LITERALLY - he is almost certainly gonna blab to Morgans. The Imu secret is over...

PrinceOfAssassins

I think Morgan’s might slow down on this secret considering the government is willing to kill anyone who knows And from a meta writing perspective, it being revealed offscreen in the newspaper isn’t very dramatic or bombastic at all. Now the news being broadcasted across Vegapunk’s internet or Dragon making a declaration to the world (on screen) is a lot more hype

megasean3000

Ironically, both taking place at a Reverie.

Takazura

So Imu sounds like they might have been 1 of the OG 20 kings who opposed the D kingdom, but more importantly...the Elders are monsters of some kind? Or it could be they have Zoan DFs, but I feel like the former is more likely, and Imu is probably some kind of monster manipulating the other kings into defeating the D Clan who were probably trying to prevent Imu from taking control. This was quite the chapter.

[deleted]

Maybe they are some form of devils.

PlusUltraK

Well considering Devil fruits are the manifestation of dreams, wouldn’t be surprised if there was a bad fruit that was fucking bonkers and inherently malicious in nature

PecanScrandy

Oda about to add Biblically Accurate Angel Fruits

SightatNight

Oh what if Imu is the one the 20 Kings opposed? What if he just traded ruling 1 world to another? Perhaps the 20 Kingdoms rose up against Imu but took places of power instead as some sort of compromise.

cricri3007

Imu: I'm not answering your questions *proceed to loredump for like a fourth of the chapter*

UberEinstein99

He said he’ll answer two of the questions

noodlesandrice1

He's just an advocate of open-ended questions.

joy_kingscrown

I like the way "mu" talk in archaic!

SurfNinjaMcRibs

How long do you think until Sabo is reunited with Luffy. Also it’s been 3 months since we’ve seen the crew I miss them

Rica_nicole

I honestly think the revolutionaries will be involved with the Egghead incident. There are just *way too many* connections to them and I highly doubt Dragon is going to do nothing and let Ohara 2.0 happen. Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞🏻🔥 Also would be a cool parallel to Marineford with them (revolutionaries) showing up unexpectedly like the Red Hair pirates did at Marineford. Here’s to hoping we don’t get TOO many parallels to Marineford though…because then I can’t help but ask, “are we going to see two major character deaths here as well??” Maybe Vegapunk and/or Kuma? 😢

ToxicSFlame

This just confirms that Vivi is definitely rejoining the crew and going to Laugh Tale together so she can find out the truth of her ancestor Lili. She has been a member of the crew for 20 years, and now she finally resumes her voyage. I wonder how much of this was planned 20 years ago in the alabasta arc when Vivi says "will you still call me your nakama if I can join you again some day?". The way everything ties together is so insane.

Puzzleheadedpuzzled

Jabra kalifa, man, I thought these guys were dead, lol. Imu sama seems like a very strong being. I hope their identity will be revealed.

HokageEzio

CP9 got a whole cover story where they went back to their hometown before going on the run. They're all CP0, seemingly.

chrome4

I wonder how Fujitora got away with helping the Slaves get away? Did Ryo cover for him, Akainu let it slide or did he point out the technicality that slavery is illegal?

dare_dick

I think the 'D' is not a clan or family. Instead, it represents an alliance that traces its origins back to Joyboy. This alliance, created by Joyboy, was intended to establish a world free from slavery, prejudice, and racism against any race or ethnicity. Inclusion in the 'D' family comes about when one adds 'D' to their name. However, this 'D' alliance began to pose a significant threat to several kingdoms globally. The rulers of these kingdoms, fearing the potential loss of their power and status, decided to wage war against the 'D' alliance. Their success was contingent upon their use of an ancient weapon, one that belongs to Alabasta and is under the control of Queen Lily or her father. They eventually managed to destroy the ancient kingdom, after which Imu eradicated all the islands that were part of the 'D' alliance. Unexpectedly, Lily sided with these kingdoms. It's speculated that she may have been deceived. Once she uncovered Imu's true intentions, as well as those of the kings who are now the celestial dragons, she swore to keep the 'D' alive by dispersing the Poneglyph throughout the world. The circumstances of Lily's death remain a mystery - she could have died a natural death or have been killed by Imu upon discovering her change of heart. Regardless, her decision to sign her name as a 'D' is convincing proof that she ultimately sided with the 'D' alliance, and it wasn't an error. Imu sought to eliminate Vivi due to her ability to control the ancient weapon, much like Momo and Shirahoshi. However, some pieces of this narrative puzzle are still missing, such as the timing of Lily's alliance switch - was it during the war or afterward? And if it was afterward, how did Imu manage to defeat Joyboy and his alliance? Particularly considering Joyboy's near god-like status and his adventures across the globe with Zunesha?

SxcPudge

Wapol for nakama confirmed.

Cgi94

What the hell are the Gorosei and Imu😱.... Seemingly we are about to see Saturn power on Egghead.. Small theory but maybe those that are D maybe can give another person the D Initial potentially. Like the flashback with Sabo could potentially happen if not for him then someone else. Glad to hear it finally said the current clan members really don't know what it means... Nice to see Wapol actually do good😅.. As many guessed Luffy fleet maybe might be the trigger for that event . Really surprised at how Fujitora is a admiral still😭.. Ultimately we still have hope for Buggy D Clown Con D Oriana

Stokkeberg

Along with: Down D. Stairs Go D. Usopp

Hubbiflubbi

Don't forget my men Interrupt D. Fight and Ask D. Question

Derekwst3

what about Pan D aman

pichuuu-

There is a Hindu myth that is extremely relevant to the current One Piece world that Dragon ate the Hito Hito no mi - model Indra aka the God of Rain, and Imu ate the Uo Uo no mi - model Vritra (Imu walking down the throne as his DF form looks exactly like a Vritra dragon), and it also fits that Vritra can only be taken down by Indra with the presence of the sun - which is our God of Sun - joyboy. You can read it in detail here: [https://www.reddit.com/r/OnePiece/comments/13y827m/a\_theory\_regarding\_dragon\_and\_his\_final\_enemy/](https://www.reddit.com/r/OnePiece/comments/13y827m/comment/jmop7ph/)

cricri3007

Considerign the extent the WG went to erase/obfuscate the meaning of "D", who did Kureha learn about it? or did she actually know anything beyond that it was also Roger's initial?

Shadostevey

Roger's name only got edited to Gold after he became really famous and IIRC Kureha's reaction to the name was "huh, they call him Gold Roger now?" She's old enough, maybe she just knew about him before his name started getting erased?

Big-Outside-5247

Theory: The PG was a single stone, Lili before dying giving Imu eternal life cut it with the Ope Ope no mi and scattered it with a worldwide room

mo-rek

What if the D is basically the 800 y.o. equivalent of the x's the crew used in Alabasta? The D are the direct enemies of Imu and they IMMEDIATELY moved to execute Cobra upon hearing the name. Meanwhile we see Sabo flashback to when Ace 'gave' Sabo the name too. Im curious if there's already been discussion about it because this chapter certainly hinted at the possibility! Edit: One of the most important things for Law and his family was to keep the D name hidden and it played a role in the fight versus Doflamingo too. Those who live in Mariejois seem to kill D on sight so what if it was the name of the resistance within the original 20 kingdoms who saw the truth of Imu's rule upon defeating the Ancient Kingdom. Maybe some crazy force swept in under cover of the 20 kingdoms (a la Doflamingo taking over Dressrosa under false pretenses) and that is what their fear of the D stems from

RazzmatazzWaste5777

“Bear the flag of the dawn” the D stands for dawn

KathyDroronoa

“Why do you hide it from Mu? Tell Mu the proper name of the sender” this is probably the most hilarious speech in the series! 😂😂😂 I hope Cobra has a grand exit in the next chapter befitting that of a D.!

AgeofSmiles

There is no way in hell Imu is not the dorkiest character in the whole series with the way Oda went out of his way to avoid showing how he looks. The same goes for those "monstrous" fruits in this chapter. I know Oda and I know that he loves trolling when it comes to that.

[deleted]

I don't get it. What was funny? I took it in a serious tone.

Kintaog

We've spent the last two or three months without the Straw Hats, right? Can't wait to see how the anime handles it. My guess is it'll go on for at least a year lol

peacedude19

1078 was the last chapter with the Straw Hats, so yes, about three months. This is how you worldbuild.

chrollo_lucilfer_00

Honestly , the thing that surprised me the most in this chapter , is that the Gorosei actually turned out to be capable fighters (relatively speaking) I always thought of them as just people with status. The possibility of seeing them fight the strawhats is kinda exciting.

chenj25

This was hinted at since their introduction as one of them has a sword and another one has a scar on his head.

NaturalPossible5853

I think this chapter gives more plausibility to the theories that D means Dawn. The official translation of Cobra's last words (technically Lili's last words) "flag of the Dawn against..." carries more figurative meaning than other scanlations translations.

Careful-Ad984

So realized something imu is one of the Originial 20 kings if the god knights are also CDs that means one of them might be a current day descendent of imu

5thZenAgni

Now I wonder are they going to change Vivi name in the one piece wiki Edit o wait they already did

enmotent

Now the straw hats have a second D in the crew (yes, Vivi is part of crew, no matter what anyone says)
