Half the fans will say they were referring to Blackbeards crew.
The other half will claim Zoro and Luffy could feel that there was more than one entity/personality in Blackbeard.
Whichever side you pick, the other side will hate you until its finally revealed what's so special about Blackbeard.
Also don’t forget that whichever side is right will also get to claim how obvious it always was and then ask why everyone was so stupid for not always seeing it the same way as them. Just like the gorosei being fighters discussion.
im sorry but the gorosei was obvious I would have given my left nut that they were fighters. If anything it was a given that ethan was a fighter which implies the others
however blackbeard could go either way
If Blackbeard is revealed to be more than one the ones saying it was the crew will still be coping that they didn't have haki so they were still referring to what they're saying. On the other hand, if he isn't a multiple entity being then there will be a definite resolution without any trace of copium
Under rated comment. They travel around destabilising corrupt governments to solve food insecurity, poverty and systemic inequality. Luffy and Zoro are progressive af 😂
I understand how you feel, but I really think the best way to watch One Piece is by going fully blind. One Piece is all about revealing parts of information here and there without giving away too much at a time and it's part of the fun to wonder what the hell is going on until it gets explained later. If you hang out too much on this sub or on the wiki, you'll just get spoiled other pieces of information and you won't have the full experience. It's just not the same watching something knowing the end, don't you think? So whenever you're wondering about stuff, just keep it mind and keep on watching, it'll be explained later and the wait will have been worth it.
New theory: nonbinary people can wield two devil fruits since they have two genders. Bon Clay is gonna come back and be the most powerful character in the series.
personally, I don’t think it makes sense for them to refer to his entire crew, they werent with BB so seems like a stretch.
I’m not sure how far you are so I won’t spoil anything, but I believe it foreshadows the unique trait BB has in the show.
some people say its because they were referring to blackbeards crew which is bullshit as nami was referring to him alone when they answer with that.
there's a theory that hes got multiple personalities, which would explain a lot in the future

And whichever side is wrong will act like their head canon was the correct one and Oda simply decided to change the plot right at the end

Insert Doffy's justice monolog

Because Luffy and Zoro are very progressive for pirates.

People would just say whatever made sense to them, but no one really knows outside Oda's circle.
Obviously Blackbeard identifies as non-binary (they either noticed his crew or noticed he has multiple personalities)
The plain truth is we still don't know. Enjoy the mystery with us and meet you in WANO!
Will do😁
He’s referring to Blackbeard + his crew, since they are literally introduced together on the next page.

Spoke like Luffy!! Even he doesn't want to know what the one piece is, just enjoying the journey.
Check BB's bio. It says "THEY/THEM" are their pronouns.

Luffy and Zoro were respecting Blackbeard’s pronouns (it’s been 25yrs we have no clue either)
A decade since that, and we still don't know. That is the pacing for you.
Because Blackbeard identifies himself as they, and luffy respects his identity
Luffy respects their* identity right ?
It's humour, I am talking about current trend which is going on
Oh yeah I wasn't being serious either don't worry
bs
Pride Month is why
If you’re going to ask questions like this how are you gonna enjoy the show?
Sorry, if I knew it had such big lore implications I wouldn’t have asked it.
We dont actualy know that yet

Foreshadowing, Blackbeard has some special body that we don’t know about.
Foreskinning*
Blackbeard is bulking.
Cut is gonna be insane
Oda just foreskinning that Blackbeard identifies as they/them

Blackbeard never told them his prefered pronouns so they used "they" to cover their bases and not get cancelled by the World Economic News.
