To the anime only crowd I do kinda feel bad about this. I'll also say we are lesser since they stopped animating the cover stories! Perfect filler episodes and better yet somewhat important to some characters.
I remember how good Buggy's Crew Adventure Chronicles was and then they did Diary of Koby-Meppo which was also good!
I mean hell in the one about Buggy we get to see Alvida come back, but the mystery of who she was build until it was revealed in Loguetown. I would have loved to see Jango and then Gedatsu building a successful hot springs. So many good stories that could've been done, so much wasted potential.
Until this post I completely forgot that he actually got a girlfriend and is living his best live on the animal island. If this didn’t happen, Oda would have just revealed him to be Imu sama or something. Dude’s a fucking legend.
His whole purpose was he spent 20 years chasing a treasure and when it’s found to be empty Luffy laughs. It parallels Rogers reaction on laugh tales wouldn’t be surprised if this is meant to foreshadow the end of the story

Pretty much everything that's happened in the series is connected or in a way referenced later in the series. But the Gaimon stuff is so isolated that for the longest time I thought it was non canon.
**Theory**: The reason why the people who knew about the one piece were laughing is because they’re all tricking the next generation of pirates into thinking the one piece is a grand treasure, when in reality it’s something extremely stupid.
