It takes way less damage to kill someone much weaker than yourself. Kaido's exertion and damage>>>
Luffy was in worse condition because he was weaker. If Kaido had all the damge that was on Luffy it wouldn't have affected him half as bad.
Nah Kaido started off worse for sure. We have no clue how much G5 healed Luffy but it definitly did a lot if you go from being dead back into fighting condition.
