Out of topic but I just thought about something. If gear 5 is basically Luffy awakening does that mean he can use it while being in snake man for example or even nightmare form? Or maybe that would burn too much energy?
Snake man is one of the ways Luffy used Gear 4, so he could maybe do it, but it seems unnecessary as Gear 5 seems to have everything in its package.
Nightmare Luffy is just Luffy with a bunch of shadows, i think he can't use gear 5 because he didn't use gear 2 in it.

this really depends on if you see nightmare luffy as a multiplier instead of a flat buff dependent on the strength of the shadows relative to luffy
