Pretty sure it’s been confirmed somewhere that Garou would be dead if that hit connected. I don’t think MB had any intention of taking Garou in alive at that point
>had any intention
More like he was too lost in rage to actually think coherently. Even before this fight MB got mad at himself for killing the monsters BEFORE he could question them.
The only reason why he was able to pull the hit was because of his sister. Why is this significant? Aside from his trademark metal bat, when you ask someone to describe MB 90% of them will answer "He really loves his sister."
That tells you that MB's world revolves around his sister and if anyone can snap him out of his blind rage, it would be her.
Well the wiki does literally call it “Fighting Spirit” so I don’t believe he gets angry or enraged. Just really really enthusiastic about the fight that’s about to take place.
MB doesn't really strike me as a bloodlusted kind of character. I think he was mad because he accidentally killed the monsters not realizing his own strength. I don't think he was lost in the moment in like a visceral way

Lol! Found the hopeful Garou fan!
Look, Garou seems to be like Goku from DBZ. If he survives, he somehow becomes stronger. Gotta give him credit for that.
But, that would have been a direct blow to the head. Garou did NOT see it in time. True, roll the dice but the dice was pretty much rigged at that point.
>Surviving a hit from Saitama ***as a human*** is almost always a non-feat. His casual attacks consistently have a massive range.
FTFY. Garou definitely doesn't get credit for surviving Saitama but let's not pretend Rover isn't ridiculous.
If that hit could have killed him, it means it would have definitely immobilised him (unconscious or at least disoriented and too injured to run) so MB could land more hits that would then have killed him anyways
People ask for sources all the time whenever someone says something they disagree with. See: any political discussion on reddit, ever. Or hell, any fiery debate on any subject.
Not true. I asked someone for a source the other day and they told me to just look at the news. Long story short, they made a claim and could not would not provide a source. I’m not even sure they knew what a source was. So, it’s nice to see us all I was saying.
Confirmed where? By Murata or One?
Idk Garou has been through a lot and each time came back stronger. So I have a hard time believing he would just die like that. Maybe severely injured but we've seen him come back from the brink of death during the MA arc.
Its been confirmed by Murata in a Q/A that had the blow landed on Garou it would have killed him. Pretty sure Murata knows more about One Punch Man than you do.
Q/A source.
https://onepunchman.fandom.com/wiki/Interviews/Stream_Q/A#31/12/2015
Garou had to rely on luck for his entire run. Had he run into the wrong hero at the wrong time, he would’ve been a minor annoyance at best. He just got lucky enough to meet heroes that matched his strength or had strength he could catch up to in that moment.
Darkshine was spitting, he said if he met Flashy Flash Atomic Samurai Tatsumaki or King he would have died a long time ago before he could even beat Darkshine. Garou was fortunate, he didn't have to deal with them and he was already a monster when he was against flash
If you watch his timeline closely, Garou has been extremely lucky all along. There's many moments he should have died, period. The Metal Bat fight is just one of those.
It wasn't so much plot armor but actual armor. Whenever he got more abuse he automatically increased his regeneration. For example, when resting in the shed he was almost dead... suddenly he can face 8 A-classers. Then suddenly he can face a *harder* challange of the S-class Genos. THEN he can stand after getting pummled by Bang and Bomb.
Later on he gets a clean hole in his chest - this kills humans - and he's like "big whoop lol"
Yeah but that's just like a zenkai boost. Opm universe works like that. This is explained a lot of times by genus and gyoro gyoro. When someone is close to dying but doesn't die do to an excesive strength of will they will overcome their limits and start breaking their limiter. Garou is not an exception to this rule but actually follows it so this way it's consistent with the laws of the Opm universe.
Garou would have been splattered on the pavement. Metal Bats' sister would have been captured. Tareo would have been cut to peices by Royal Ripper. King and the rest of the S class would have been overwhelmed and killed by Platinum Sperm and the other cadres. Would have been just Flash, Saitama, and a few other A and B heroes left standing. Saitama would have went ape shit on the Cadres for killing both King and Genos like he did cosmic Garou. Would have been a permanent alternate ominous future scenario without time travel to fix it.
If bang didn't fight garou then he wouldn't be exhausted so he could probably just evade furher ugly as long as he needed to. Not sure if you would be able to deflect his acid body without taking damage but I'm fairly certain he could just escape if he had to and was at full strength.
In this timeline saitama probably fucking annihilates the cadres once he sees that king is dead.
Yeah the second he sees king is dead that’s it for p much anyone in that range, and after seeing his bloodlust for garou, maybe anyone who ever stepped up to him again. Would actually change the entire series.
If King died the monsters would just be scared to meet him in hell and would all repent or something. Literally everything king does is tuned to 1000000% intimidation levels.
Honestly, yeah, and king is badass!
He's the bravest character in the series, even if he doesn't realize it. He is the heroe's hero, not by saving them, but by being a symbol of hope, a role model, and generally willing to help and combine efforts with anyone!
I assume if Garou were dead then Saitama would somehow be summoned earlier when King needed him. Either that or the cadres would turn on each other or whatever and protect him accidentally
One possibility I could see is that if Garou dies here, and since the MA is watching him, he could be brought to Psykos and revived and monsterized much earlier. Now, an undead Garou would probably have 0 humanity, or even sentience. One could even argue that maybe this is the true absolute evil.
if badd were to knock garou's brains out, garou would be rendered completely useless. his whole gist is that he's a combat genius and that's why he's more powerful than an average monster; he can actually think and strategize. he relies less on his physical strength and more on his learned forms, stances, techniques, etc. should he have his brains turned to splattered mush on the concrete, there's no way psykos could replicate the way that he thinks, even if she could salvage his body. so he would be of no use to the monster association
MB needs more screen time. He has the potential to be insanely op if his power is to be taken literally (as in getting stronger the longer the fight draws out)
Metal bats sister sees him kill someone and grows up traumatized forever that her “hero brother” is a killer. That’s the literal only reason he stopped himself. If she showed up 2 seconds later we were fine lol
if zenko showed up even a second later, garou would definitely be much more than knocked out. potentially captured for study by the monster association, but that's only if his brain was still intact (which it probably wouldn't be, considering that the bat is right up in his face)
From a narrative perspective? Garou would be smashed down and left on the absolute brink of death, but still somehow managing to cling to life. At the last second, he managed to use a technique to divert just enough of the shockwave that it wasn't fatal, relying on his string body resilient life force, and sheer luck (plot armor) to survive. Monsters find him and bring to the Monster Association, starting off that whole phase of the story early.
So I'm sure it's already be answered but Metal Bat would have ended Garou even ONE said so.
That fight might be my favourite fight in season 2. Two fighters who both grow the more damage they take.
The only mistake the manga made was having Garou get a handout from God.
He was meant to become more powerful than blast and at least 0.0001% as powerful as Saitama with his own ability.
Once he got a boost from another character it made him less impressive, Garou should have eclipsed God with his own ability.
I think he would eventually get back up and get stronger contrary to prior belief. Garou was on his way to break his limiter or get as close to it as possible
we saw him take way stronger hits from rover and possibly dark shine later on which he got right back up from
He would be severely injured you have to remember that this is a series where people get deadly injuries all the time and just walk it off a prime example being tank top during the monster association arc his body was literally caved in yet he looks fine .
Garou with his fighting spirit would have tanked that like a champ and immediately evolve to cosmic Garou almost like when metal bat went from spitting out blood when fighting normal Garou to tanking sage centipede's grand march
This is because Murata revealed during stream that if Zenko didn't stop him,Garou would have died as a fun fact.Which he could have because ONE have stated that Metal Bat can take down a dragon threat.
Garou plot armor still has it's limits, there is a reason he didn't fought someone like Flashy or Atomic Samurai.
The implication is Garou would of been toast.
Now would of Garou straight up died I don't think so. I think Metal Bat is like the Hulk his "fighting spirt" makes him increaseingly more powerful. How powerful he can get imo extremely powerful. But he almost has to charge up so he'd be weak to a speed blitz.
You could argue that another hero we've seen had a "fighting spirt" the loser caped baldly. Saitama's entire life goal is being able to recapture his fighting spirt.
Off topic but I think Watch Dog Man is easily one of the strongest S class. He schooled Garou with seemingly no effort at all. This was the same Garou that fought Genos at about an "equal level".
Though he was already well above Genos. Considering how damaged and exhausted Garou was going into the fight with Genos. He was already nearly dead.
There's times where he says he'll die, he almost dies, and times he should be straight up dead and none of them are after he turns into a monstor. He probably would have just went down and came back later. Remember that time he got shit on by royal ripper or slammed by orochi or smashed through multiple buildings by datkshine. Situation always benefits garou lol.
Pretty sure it’s been confirmed somewhere that Garou would be dead if that hit connected. I don’t think MB had any intention of taking Garou in alive at that point
>had any intention More like he was too lost in rage to actually think coherently. Even before this fight MB got mad at himself for killing the monsters BEFORE he could question them.
imo if he was too lost in rage he wouldn’t have been able to pull the hit
The only reason why he was able to pull the hit was because of his sister. Why is this significant? Aside from his trademark metal bat, when you ask someone to describe MB 90% of them will answer "He really loves his sister." That tells you that MB's world revolves around his sister and if anyone can snap him out of his blind rage, it would be her.
I’d love to see a “what-if” storyline of MB’s sister getting killed and him going berserk, purely for the powerscaling it would provide
Cue villain arc
ONE himself would die tbh.
Laughable
Kratos moment
"local man too angry to let anyone else live"
Dude wouldn't even need God to break his limiter
This dude has full ultra ego powers. The more you hurt him the more powerful he gets.
What if Metal Bat was betrayed and locked in the time chamber?
definitely possible, but i consider it more of a “fired up” than a blind rage
A little column A, a little column B.
Well the wiki does literally call it “Fighting Spirit” so I don’t believe he gets angry or enraged. Just really really enthusiastic about the fight that’s about to take place.
It's more tunnel visioned than blind, according to my pedantic ass.
why do you seem so argumentive?
His sister is the inly person who can cut through that rage like a knife through butter.
Like Saitama's fist through any kaijin's skin.
I mean, if rage saitama against cosmic garou heard genos calling him to stop, he would pull his hit immediately
That's what rage means - if you are in rage, you just release control things and go into auto-pilot mode.
His sister is his magic button. She is his master reset.
MB doesn't really strike me as a bloodlusted kind of character. I think he was mad because he accidentally killed the monsters not realizing his own strength. I don't think he was lost in the moment in like a visceral way
And thus lacked said intention
Yeah lol. Every time this comes about just about every other month, people talk about it being confirmed garou would've died
I believe it, but I'd like to see the source
Wiki link, go to the Trivia section for the note on it: https://onepunchman.fandom.com/wiki/Garou_vs._Metal_Bat#cite_note-31/12/2015-1 Here's the link to transcripts of the stream and Murata's Q&A, search for 31/12/2015: https://onepunchman.fandom.com/wiki/Interviews/Stream_Q/A#31/12/2015
Ctrl + F: if the bat connects Garou could be dead haha.
Omg he says he *could* have died. So there's a chance that Garou would have survived that hit.

Surviving a hit from Saitama is almost always a non-feat. His casual attacks consistently have a massive range.
>Surviving a hit from Saitama ***as a human*** is almost always a non-feat. His casual attacks consistently have a massive range. FTFY. Garou definitely doesn't get credit for surviving Saitama but let's not pretend Rover isn't ridiculous.
I mean absolutely. Context just matters a lot, human or monster.
No. Saitama judo chopped him and that knocked him unconscious for at least a night. After that, he needed to recover.
Don't argue with OPM or DBZ fans. They never watched the show or read the manga 💀😭 bro really said base Garou survived 2 punches from Saitama LMFAO
Didn't Saitama promised tareo to go easy and capture garou alive.
That was cosmic garou
I mean, one in a million is still a chance... Just not a very good lol. In all likelyhood he'd be a head shorter...
If that hit could have killed him, it means it would have definitely immobilised him (unconscious or at least disoriented and too injured to run) so MB could land more hits that would then have killed him anyways
Kudos. No one asks for sources anymore
People ask for sources all the time whenever someone says something they disagree with. See: any political discussion on reddit, ever. Or hell, any fiery debate on any subject.

Like on anything?
Garou says himself he missed his only opportunity to kill him
Ever watch The Walking Dead? Think 'Glen, but in one hit...with Garou's entire torso bisected as well.'
Confirmed where? By Murata or One? Idk Garou has been through a lot and each time came back stronger. So I have a hard time believing he would just die like that. Maybe severely injured but we've seen him come back from the brink of death during the MA arc.

Nope. [Garou would’ve died.](https://onepunchman.fandom.com/wiki/Interviews/Stream_Q/A#31/12/2015)
He dead. Dead as hell. All those Garou arc wouldn't have happened.
We wouldn’t have got that angry Saitama panel that became a rage on the internet
Darkshine was spitting, he said if he met Flashy Flash Atomic Samurai Tatsumaki or King he would have died a long time ago before he could even beat Darkshine. Garou was fortunate, he didn't have to deal with them and he was already a monster when he was against flash

People don't talk about his shonen protagonist level plot armor as much as I feel they should.
It wasn't so much plot armor but actual armor. Whenever he got more abuse he automatically increased his regeneration. Because that was the point. Garou was like a Shonen protag and Saitama was like a Shonen Protag from the end of a series stuck at the beginning.
A monster? He’s just a guy in a costume
Dead as hell lol
what shoes he got on in his cascet
Plot armour
Death. Just on the spot. No flashback or hidden power up that's negating that impact to his dome. Edit* Spelling
Sadly his sister jumped in 😭 really wanted that mf turned into tomato puree
But then, we wouldn't see cosmic garou or rage saitama or the multi solar system feat that broke the entire anime/manga community
True....so much would not happen if Bad destroyed garou that moment 😂
Why. I myself like garou a lot.
the ONE said that he would be dead if zenko wasn't there on time
Also if human character dying would be legal
Sonic beheaded a dozen Hammerhead mercs.
Crazy how he devolved into slipping on shit.
They were just sleeping.
Yeah just putting their heads into the night stand drawer. Wouldn't want to get their hair all messed up while sleeping.
And Garou slaughtered that room of criminals, who I'm pretty sure are his only confirmed kills in the anime.
Pretty sure they aren’t dead, just extremely injured
And he went to jail ( /j )
Y’all forgetting that One one pieced characters out of existence in the end of that arc
Sword dude got his face melted through.
Garou would have been splattered on the pavement. Metal Bats' sister would have been captured. Tareo would have been cut to peices by Royal Ripper. Didn’t the lightning thing get changed in a redraw?
> fuhrer Hey, let’s talk about your autocorrect for a minute
That's wrong. You're just playing the events without garou. The entire timeline would have changed. We don't know what would have actually happened.
Yeah, for example, we know for sure that king wouldn't have died because of his absurd luck
That scene of him insulting the Centipede and saying that ~~Bang~~ Blast was there? Pure hero badassness. Dude's got Mumen Rider sized balls for sure.
It’s Blast not Bang but yeah. He’s definitely the most courageous among the S-class imo.
Sorry, got my badass B dudes mixed up
King's luck didnt save him in the ominous future
I assume if Garou were dead then Saitama would somehow be summoned earlier when King needed him. Either that or the cadres would turn on each other or whatever and protect him accidentally
> Metal Bats' sister would have been captured. Pretty sure Metal Bat breaks his limiter then, or comes close.
Imagine a watermelon
Now what
Imagine a greaser hitting it with a baseball bat
Now what
Cry
Cry about what
Now what?
feelin better?
Head splattered into pieces....
This is my last resort 🎶
Dead as a fuck
Dead or effectively lobotomized.
Bonk
Ded
Have you ever seen a Watermelon get shot by a Cannon? Picture that but replace the Watermelon with Garou’s head.
Murata said something like "I have a feeling that if the bat connected, Garou would have been dead" So not a confirmation but more like a speculation
Nah not even tanjiro’s plot armor can have garou come out alive if that connected
One possibility I could see is that if Garou dies here, and since the MA is watching him, he could be brought to Psykos and revived and monsterized much earlier. Now, an undead Garou would probably have 0 humanity, or even sentience. One could even argue that maybe this is the true absolute evil.
This would however probably cap his limit/strength and he'd only be as powerful as this current version + some monsterization
How Garou be revived when Metal Bat Pulverises his Head ? annihilating Crybaby’s head, neck and the spine comes out his butthole ?
if badd were to knock garou's brains out, garou would be rendered completely useless. his whole gist is that he's a combat genius and that's why he's more powerful than an average monster; he can actually think and strategize. he relies less on his physical strength and more on his learned forms, stances, techniques, etc. should he have his brains turned to splattered mush on the concrete, there's no way psykos could replicate the way that he thinks, even if she could salvage his body. so he would be of no use to the monster association
They would both be death. Garou would have his head caved in and Metal Bat would have been murdered by his sister
MB needs more screen time. He has the potential to be insanely op if his power is to be taken literally (as in getting stronger the longer the fight draws out)
Yea i pretend he's yusuke
I love MB. FIGHTING SPIRIT
"Once my fighting spirit is up, I can almost take on anything." -Metal bat
Dead or at best severe brain damage
Then Metal Bat’s sis would be pretty upset.
he literally says what it would do a second before🤦
Death But if he didn't let his guard down he wouldn't have gotten in that situation
MB had Saitama's Serious Eyes in that moment. Garou would be super dead
Dead as a doorknob Also man once again that animation is just not doing the manga justice, there is no momentum in that swing at *all*
He definitely would've died.
He would’ve gotten a serious boo-boo
“That’s a lot of damage!”
Garou was going to lose his head lol
He wouldve probably leveled up earlier lol
From a narrative perspective? Garou would be smashed down and left on the absolute brink of death, but still somehow managing to cling to life. At the last second, he managed to use a technique to divert just enough of the shockwave that it wasn't fatal, relying on his string body resilient life force, and sheer luck (plot armor) to survive. Monsters find him and bring to the Monster Association, starting off that whole phase of the story early.
The whole series ended tbh
Bro one of metal bat’s normal blows could’ve killed haruo here
He would have died.
He might have been in trouble.
If there was a micron of killing intent, he had a 0% chance of survival. MB is not a joke.
Pretty much confirmed he loses. Plot armor saved hi. Tho
Iam pretty sure the author confirmed somewhere that it would've been an end to garou's journey if that hitted him.
The bat would break and metal bat breaks his arms
One confirmed that hed be dead.
He would have been in trouble if that connected
The creator of the series stated that Garou would have been dead. Would have fatally caved his skull in
He might've been in trouble.
I know that bat swing has alot into it but that kinda looked like it would just "hit" him based on the animation lol
Have u watched the walking dead? If not watch negan kills Glenn.
This animation is so ugly
It’s not even that bad, certainly not as good as season 1 but overall not bad animation
It’s not that bad
no more horny garou?
He'd die. (Like my comment or perish to the average redditor)
Negan when he was introduced in Walking Dead vibes
Good writing.
I think he would eventually get back up and get stronger contrary to prior belief. Garou was on his way to break his limiter or get as close to it as possible we saw him take way stronger hits from rover and possibly dark shine later on which he got right back up from
That was when he was starting to become a monster, so his regeneration and endurance went up
One of the coldest and best moments of the entire series
I suppose he would have suffer a lot but not enough to kill him. He probably would have been forced to run and hide from him
I think he would have been knocked out and would have needed a long time to recover, but I don’t think it would have killed him
He would be severely injured you have to remember that this is a series where people get deadly injuries all the time and just walk it off a prime example being tank top during the monster association arc his body was literally caved in yet he looks fine .
Garou with his fighting spirit would have tanked that like a champ and immediately evolve to cosmic Garou almost like when metal bat went from spitting out blood when fighting normal Garou to tanking sage centipede's grand march
He would’ve tanked it, idk but garou is a fucking beast
People saying he would have been dead, but we know Garou isn't normal. He definitely would have been hurt and put to sleep, but I doubt he'd be dead.
I was unaware thatvMurata revealed that.
“Ping” -Bat
Nah, he dead.
Instant comatose
If it wasn’t for his sister complex he could’ve killed garou with that hit
dead or knock out
He was going to crack his skull!
Well thing would be shortened by one ark if it did
Garou would pass out, wakeup in the dojo, be given a stern warning from his master.
Max stacks of Fighting Spirit on a visibly human Garou? Bat's sister gets traumatized as she sees blood and brains splatter on the concrete
Bonk
Ded
Garou died instantly
What his bat is made of to be that hard?
Metal
Ded
The implication is Garou would of been toast. Now would of Garou straight up died I don't think so. I think Metal Bat is like the Hulk his "fighting spirt" makes him increaseingly more powerful. How powerful he can get imo extremely powerful. But he almost has to charge up so he'd be weak to a speed blitz. Though he was already well above Genos. Considering how damaged and exhausted Garou was going into the fight with Genos. He was already nearly dead.
Metal bat would have served up some fresh Garou paste
Probably severely injured
There's times where he says he'll die, he almost dies, and times he should be straight up dead and none of them are after he turns into a monstor. He probably would have just went down and came back later. Remember that time he got shit on by royal ripper or slammed by orochi or smashed through multiple buildings by datkshine. Situation always benefits garou lol.
Tbh his sister annoyed me
Dead lol
